When running an ad on this forum with 2 slots, I got the following results: "id","ad","timestamp" 2,"btcforum","2011-11-30 23:20:55" 3,"btcforum","2011-11-30 23:28:18" 4,"btcforum","2011-11-30 23:54:34" 5,"btcforum","2011-12-01 05:03:50" 6,"btcforum","2011-12-01 09:23:56" 7,"btcforum","2011-12-01 11:45:58" 8,"btcforum","2011-12-01 11:49:15" 9,"btcforum","2011-12-01 11:55:46" 10,"btcforum","2011-12-01 17:11:36" 11,"btcforum","2011-12-01 17:42:16" 12,"btcforum","2011-12-01 20:50:44" 13,"btcforum","2011-12-01 21:04:55" 14,"btcforum","2011-12-02 10:50:22" 15,"btcforum","2011-12-02 15:22:22" 16,"btcforum","2011-12-02 17:12:24" 17,"btcforum","2011-12-03 10:08:11" 18,"btcforum","2011-12-03 10:33:17" 19,"btcforum","2011-12-03 10:46:15" 20,"btcforum","2011-12-03 12:02:43" 21,"btcforum","2011-12-03 12:19:27" 22,"btcforum","2011-12-03 12:25:11" 23,"btcforum","2011-12-03 17:08:18" 24,"btcforum","2011-12-03 21:41:56" 25,"btcforum","2011-12-04 00:23:58" 26,"btcforum","2011-12-04 09:47:39" 27,"btcforum","2011-12-04 15:26:07" 28,"btcforum","2011-12-04 17:48:05" 30,"btcforum","2011-12-04 19:16:30" 37,"btcforum","2011-12-04 21:18:55" 41,"btcforum","2011-12-04 21:45:06" 48,"btcforum","2011-12-04 22:38:50" 64,"btcforum","2011-12-04 23:57:47" 66,"btcforum","2011-12-04 23:58:13" 82,"btcforum","2011-12-05 02:17:14" 87,"btcforum","2011-12-05 07:59:42" 210,"btcforum","2011-12-06 08:36:56" 226,"btcforum","2011-12-06 10:16:29" 263,"btcforum","2011-12-06 12:29:18" 273,"btcforum","2011-12-06 13:17:03" 290,"btcforum","2011-12-06 15:37:06" 307,"btcforum","2011-12-06 16:41:13" 328,"btcforum","2011-12-06 21:05:44" 339,"btcforum","2011-12-06 23:41:32" 364,"btcforum","2011-12-07 06:24:52"
This is an csv export of all of the ads logged from this forum to my site. This amounts to 44 ad clicks via these two slots over 7 days. That is 6.2 clicks per day for 2 slots, or 3.14 clicks per day per slot. I paid 11 btc for this, which is $33, so I paid $0.75 per click for a 7 day ad on this site. Thanks, macintosh264

And how does that price compare with what you would expect to pay per click at other sites?
I paid 2 btc for 200 clicks on dailybitcoins.org, so this is really high, and I would never do this again. The price is not worth the return.

I would argue the value of the clicks from DailyBitcoins is no where near the value of the clicks from these forums. The mindset of the userbase is completely different.

That's what I was thinking. For a comparison, one would need a highly comparable website in terms of numbers.

My results were almost identical if not worse, but ads w/o images are not exactly very eye-catching. It's an auction, though, the price paid is what you bid. I see some people advertising week after week, they must be able to afford it, banking on making profit off each successful clicker. I think if they were to put an operation fabulous banner up they would make more BTC than the auctions, but that's just me.

I dont see the benefit of a link when this entire forum is a giant advertising and communication medium. Got a service? Start a thread. Want to waste money? Pay for microscopic textonly adspace.

Dailybitcoins.org hardly counts as advertising, and their clicks are just people trying to get paid, not people interested in the service. I take out joke ads there all the time and get disgusting amounts of clicks... You should probably start paying Matthew to write clever ads for you, even though he has fat fingers.

Glasswalker had some more positive results (probably due partially to the larger, more colorful ads now allowed): - Our ad tag on our site (which is unique to one link from the ad) has received 129 unique pageviews since the last ad went live. - The index page of the site (which is linked to from the forum post, which the ad also links to) received 454 unique page views during the ad run (not all of those are from the ad, but a portion likely are). - Not sure if you can see internal referrals to my forum thread from the ad to get a counter on click rate there.
So far the IPO has been very successful, (more so than several other IPOs for mining ops posted around the same time, our 30day volume (which is really just a 7 day volume) is higher than any other trading shares on GLBSE based on their 30day volume according to their market charts. And our 24h volume has traded higher than the others most of the time as well.
I can't say definitively how much of that came from the ad, but I would have to say the ad was well spent. (nearly 1000BTC in capital raised in the first week, with 700 more to be raised hopefully in the next week or two). at a cost of 8BTC per week for advertising.
You can feel free to share any of this info if it helps for future ad runs. I'll continue to gather data through this upcoming week as well.
