Bumpity bump
Also, I have decided to build a second rig - any whole frames or frame kits available? I'll also need a second motherboard tray....

Over 160mhz now and the next steps should be straightforward.
Gimme gimme.

As any dedicated miner with more than a few Ghash/s ought to know, using a 240V circuit is a bit more efficient than using an equivalent 120V circuit - On the order of several percent difference. I should hope that this device would be capable of plugging into a high voltage circuit, if only for the efficiency improvement and not even the higher available amperage. (Think stove/oven/dryer outlet). Also, my gut feeling is that this wattage rating is slightly overstated (remember it was changed once already), to avoid another specifications mishap like what happened to the Single.

....  I feel like I am in the dark ages running all these gpu's....
Heh, I feel even darker building a new GPU based rig right now.
Oh well, my BFL pre-order is in - if they deliver, I shall be advancing into the new millennium!  Grin

Haven't you guys figured it out yet? blue.mitzi and assholestana are one and the same! Same odd speeling, pronunskiation, and altitudinous attitude!

Oh, it is. It's just that there was a lot of talk about a mid-January delivery.

Luckily, they are keeping their customers apprised...

Guys, what's the word from BFL?
The word from them to me currently is:
Quote
We are currently expecting to make delivery by early January.
Perhaps Bensoutlet will finally deliver my 5870's around the same timeframe  Roll Eyes

Makes me a tad bit nervous as I haven't purchased from this store before... and its not exactly a small order.
As far as I can gather, they just suck, but you should get your stuff eventually. I guess I shall find out. Gives me a few more days to find and install a motherboard tray in my open miner, but hell I want my cards!!  Grin

but i guess theres more profit in selling it to ppl who could afford it?
Of course. Selling pitchforks to the miners is always more profitable than mining the gold yourself, if I may be so bold as to use one of [Tycho]'s expressions.

I'm not astana, I know he has asked me to post this. Make of it what you will.
You're a mouthpiece for astana ITS THE SAME THING

EDIT: also, tell him to click the little plus signs next to Andrew's name - all the details he wants are in there.
5710  Economy / Goods / Re: [WTB] 5870 on: December 29, 2011, 06:47:50 PM
I thought seriously about purchasing 4 to fill up a motherboard, but then I ran the numbers...

-EP
I'm not paying electricity, but even if I was, payback would be 200 days at current difficulty and price. Free electricity is making it look closer to 150 days, which is a win in my book.
5711  Economy / Goods / Re: [WTB] 5870 on: December 29, 2011, 06:45:03 PM
Have they shipped yet?

-EP
Actually no, and I'm kind of pissed. They probably wait for them to sell out completely before shipping. Also, they are shipping to me in 7 separate boxes (fail) instead of one big one. I do have tracking numbers, but UPS hasn't picked them up yet.
5712  Economy / Goods / [closed] [WTB] Motherboard tray for an open miner - full ATX size on: December 29, 2011, 03:56:37 AM
I am building a new open frame miner, and have all the parts except a motherboard tray. Can anyone sell me a full-size ATX size tray with standard mobo mounts?

EDIT: I ended up buying the cheapest cases I could find and hacking them apart with a dremel.
5713  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Accusations against shakaru on: December 29, 2011, 12:40:59 AM
Why do I get the nasty feeling that this Astana guy is going to come unhinged and kill someone?
5714  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Accusations against shakaru on: December 28, 2011, 08:23:59 PM
Astana woke up and is online ,and sent me many messages with plenty of F#%# words asking me to respond again.  Again I'm just relaying information in this matter I have no money involved. I'll respond to shakaru because he and astana are two in disagreement over this matter. If I have time I can get some awnsers to some other queastions from other users. But I really take offense to being called a shill and sock puppet, I can assure you I'm very capable of making my own mind up about the character of people.

Now I  I'll respond to shakaru. I want to get some more information. So you did accept the $1700 from you fully admit this? From what I read is that you refunded him and paypal cancled it am I right? And in effect you actually still have his money and are not going to give it back unless forced to do so by your bank or paypal? Just to make things clear you haven't sent the computer game cards as was agreed to that the money was sent to you for am I correct?

If he hasn't recieved the game cards then I think you need to refund him despite what ever has happened and end this sorry episode. I don't understand why you need to be forced by the bank or paypal to return the money. The paypal issue was ruled in your favour so if you do owe him the money he gave you you should return it..

As to the threats he is angry, also I don't think he's ever mentioned he is going to kill you. I think if you return the money he will stop what ever he is doing, he does have other things to deal with like his girlfriend. He also told me he messaged you on skype on christmay day a few times asking for both parties to end this and just return the money.

Wasn't this already moderated by Maged, and the answer was the PayPal is currently holding EVERYONE's money? The reason that Astana does not have the money back from the refund is because PayPal is holding it pending an investigation. There is NOTHING that shakaru can do to fix this.

Kernels will be released which are optimized for the 7xxx series whether you code them or not.
What makes you so fanatically sure of this? I'm sure the coders capable of this realize the potential benefits of an architecture-optimized kernel, and it isn't unfathomable that they would keep it to themselves.

Actually they did up the watt usage of the rig box, BUT LEFT THE HARSH RATE ALONE lol!
Actually, they dropped it from 54 and some decimal down to the current 50 or so.

Also, it certainly is possible that the quoted price is for the base unit with one hashing module, and you pay extra for additional pluggable modules. I don't know if this is the case, but it is possible.

Your site will be a hacker magnet.

I sure hope anyone thinking of using this service to give a second thought.

Just because it may attract hacker-types does not mean that it is necessarily vulnerable. The infrastructure behind this is actually quite good.

I support the idea of passing around the card to other developers for their own development, benchmarking, and testing. Perhaps they could all be asked nicely to always leave it at stock clocks.

Then, once the 79xx series is sold out due to demand, sell the card used and distribute the profits  Grin
