5721  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Russia's Central Bank proposes ban on Cryptocurrency trading and mining on: January 21, 2022, 02:21:54 PM
I don't know if this proposal will be accepted by Russian government but it would be a bad for them to follow example of China banning Bitcoin mining and everything else.
Their central bank is preparing digital ruble and I guess they don't want any competition or distractions from real decentralized currency like Bitcoin.
I said before that more countries could do the same like China, and I expected Sweden or Norway would be the first, but we should not be afraid of this if it happens.
Checking Bitcoin mining hashrate and it's at all time high, despite all the fud, news and market crash, and that is very important.
5722  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Show off your hardware wallet on: January 21, 2022, 02:03:10 PM
Why not use another option?
You can search on Internet websites, like ebay, for exactly the same original faulty devices. Disassemble and take the parts need, that is, use them as donors of spare parts, such as the display that you need.
It makes no sense to do that and pay multiple times higher price for something that will again get dim soon, display for all devices goes dim after few years of usage.
Price of new display is less than 2 dollars, and I doubt you can find broken ledger with same price, those ebay auctions will get higher price than 1 Eur for sure, plus you have to count shipping cost if they even ship outside Germany.
More important is security and would you want to reveal to someone that you purchased ledger over Ebay or not.
Ordering New part from Alibaba is not saying anyone that you own Ledger, because this display is used in other other devices, not just for ledger hw.

Also, I noticed that there are no lots with spare parts for Ledger devices on ebay, for example, displays, cases, buttons. Take note, sellers and do not thank for the suggested business model Smiley.
Sure there are a lot of spare parts because those devices breaks very easy, and they are very low quality  100% made in China.
They do however have good marketing and they sold millions of devices unfortunately Tongue

5723  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Anyone ever try a SecuX hardware wallet. on: January 20, 2022, 10:06:14 PM
Safepal is not open source, is this whAT you mean as secretly? I can not use any wallet that is close source too.
Safepal is not open source (like ledger) but even worse thing is that nobody except Safepal (and maybe CZ) can verify what the heck is hidden behind those QR codes they use.
This is a big security risk for everyone who uses that wallet, and generally think that people should avoid using that wallet.
In contrast you have Keystone wallet that is also using QR codes, but you can verify everything and find instruction on their github/website.

Mobile wallet can be vulnerable to online attack but the second reason it is not good is because mobile device can lost at anytime, if hardware wallet is carried about, it is risky too. Bitcoin is asset just like gold, it needs protection. even at home, I will prefer to keep my hardware wallet safe.
You can lose keys from your house, wallet with cards, mobile phone or anything that you carry with you all the time, so it's safer not to carry hardware wallet (or seed words) with you all the time.
But than again, it's always possible that someone breaks into your house and steal you wallet with everything else, so it's not a bad idea to keep backup in separate place and use multisig setup.
5724  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Thoughts about Passport hardware wallet on: January 20, 2022, 09:59:59 PM
Block released a hardware wallet? Can't find anything about this topic tbh.
It's not released yet, but I am following news about that and I saw that Jack Block posted job offerings for people to work in multiple cities across United States (San Francisco, New York, etc).
Hardware Wallet Business Lead;  Global Fulfillment & Logistics Lead, Hardware Wallet, and few more but I can't find links for them anymore.

Back on the Passport wallet topic...they are preparing some BIG changes for batch2 and they say more information will be revealed in February.
5725  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: AirGap wallet- Self custody made simple and secure - Protect your crypto offline on: January 20, 2022, 09:47:51 PM
I see that Shamir Shares are available in AirGap wallet, but is this compatible with Trezor and Keystone Shamir scheme?
Big disadvantage for AirGap is that you don't support multisig, but I see that it's coming soon.
One more problem I see with AirGap is Android OS and all various versions and stores, I don't know what oldest Android OS is supported by AirGap, but it is limited with that.
I can't install and test AirGap on my android phone with older Android OS version Tongue

PS
You may want to update your discord link on that medium article, it's showing Invalid Invite error message.
5726  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: I have a question about Bitcoin cold wallets on: January 20, 2022, 09:36:29 PM
I'm not sure if a Ledger hardware wallet comes with a Bitcoin wallet pre-installed. If it needs the Ledger Live software, it may still work if you install that on an offline system.
I wouldn't worry about firmware updates for a device that never sees the internet.
Ledger is always changing shit around but I think they are now shipping wallets (from China) without any preinstalled apps but they are suggesting that you can install Bitcoin and other apps.
That means it's not possible to use it in offline computer, and I wouldn't even do that when there is Electrum wallet.
I did try installing Trezor Suite offline on Linux and it's working just fine, you only need to enable Bitcoin (or other supported coins) but you may need to install other software needed for app to run.

I guess there's not really a market for it, because it's not very convenient to use, but I'd like to see a hardware wallet that's truely designed to be used offline. It could for instance use a camera (or QR-code on it's screen) to transmit transaction data, and instead of USB use only a power cable. That way, you could have a hardware wallet that's also a cold wallet.
Keystone hardware wallet is designed to be used offline and they are using QR codes for sending transactions.
You can also make your own airgapped signing device using Raspberry Pi zero (version without wifi).
5727  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Blender Wallet – non-custodial anonymous crypto wallet with built-in mixer on: January 20, 2022, 08:49:55 PM
All seed phrase-related operations are now happen on the client’s side
How can this claims be verified, and is there a way to generate mnemonic phrase offline that can later be used with Blender Wallet?

Local storage encryption. To store securely all wallet-related information, local storage will be encrypted and protected with the help of a separate password. It allows getting access to the wallet without using a seed phrase. All you need is a storage and password.
Can you tell us what type of encryption are you using exactly?
Bad encryption can sometimes be just as bad as having no encryption.

Blender Wallet: it’s a non-custodial BTC wallet focused on user privacy. Blender Wallet has been launched in 2020 by the same team that had development blender.io –Bitcoin mixer existing on the market since 2017.
Are there any plans to release Blender wallet app that can be downloaded and run from computer instead of using web browser?
5728  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Crypto.com Says Hackers Stole Nearly $34M From Users on: January 20, 2022, 08:35:38 PM
The suspension of the last withdrawal was due to the hacking, but it seems that the platform has compensated everyone. Will this help them and make people continue to use them, and what will happen if more are hacked, they will not be able to pay and compensate everyone?
What happened after Binance (or other exchanges) was hacked, and what happened after private customer information leaked from Ledger database?
- Nothing. People continue to use their services hoping it won't happen to them, when it happens next time.

Let me repeat again, don't trust any of this centralized services for holding your coins and earning some small profit, next hack can and probably will be much worse.
I wonder what happened with their crypto.com debit cards during and after this hack, does anyone know if did they also stop to work?

5729  Other / Meta / Re: Locking old thread and creating a new one in gambling section on: January 20, 2022, 08:19:12 PM
Is it allowed? There's a casino which already have a thread but that’s not in the way they are looking for. They want ro have 2 posts reserved for updates etc. But it's nit anymore possible in the old thread. Should they create a new one instead and lock the old one?
There is nothing wrong about creating new topic, this can be done for many reasons or when you want to make a fresh start with redesign and new people.
I even saw people creating topics with same titles like original topics and they are not connected with them in any way.
It can be a problem if casino want's to hide their shady past making new self moderated topic that is censored.
What casino are we talking about here?
5730  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Which is the best to use now? on: January 20, 2022, 08:12:54 PM
How can we ignore these kind of hijacking/malware application as it is now a threat to those who mostly uses Android phones?
Best way is to use custom operating system for Android phones (Lineage, Graphene, Calyx, Divest) instead of default Android OS, but for most people this is a bit extreme step.
Regular people that still Android OS should limit the use of all apps and stop using Google Store, but move on some alternative like F-Droid or Aurora Store.
Anything related with cryptocurrencies should be verified with signature when download from official websites.
Electrum wallet have Android OS 5 support on their website, and don't use any unknown crypto apps that can't be verified.
You should be much safer after doing this.

Odgledao sam Dexter: New Blood. Ko je gledao orginalnu seriju, trebalo bi mu se i ovo svidjeti. Iznenadio me je kraj jer sam mislio da je ovo početak jedne skroz nove serije, ali...
Sad namjervam početi gledati 5. sezonu talijanske Gomorrah kada vrijeme dozvoli.

5732  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Show off your hardware wallet on: January 20, 2022, 01:18:57 AM
The Alibaba link works just fine, but I can't get the Taobao link to work on my end. Does it work for you or are you redirected to the homepage and asked to register or sign in? Maybe they have geographical restrictions or require that you are logged in to view their offer.
Last time I checked you need to use some proxy websites to order stuff from Taobao if you live outside China, but I am not sure if you can find all products like that.
Maybe some Chinese friends could send this product directly, but no need for that if Alibaba and other websites offer the same stuff.

So I guess, my only option is to get in touch to our local shop and ask if the product is available for sale or buy the product from Alibaba and shoulder the shipping fee where the price is double of the product being ordered.
Contact the seller with that display and ask him directly if he has the same display with 12 pins.
I didn't do deeper search on internet, but other than Alibana, you can try Aliexpress, Ebay, Amazon or something similar.
I found one more website with same display but thy only sell minimum 1000 pieces.

5733  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Anyone ever try a SecuX hardware wallet. on: January 20, 2022, 01:08:23 AM
Some hardware wallets started in the past to be using USB code for making transaction but malware can flow through USB. Later were hardware devices that can use Bluetooth for transaction, malware can flow through Bluetooth. These malware can work as a clipboard malware than can change receivers or senders address to another address belonging to an hacker.
Hardware wallets are usually not using normal USB connection, but secure so no malware could infect them that way, only way would be some keyloggers or changing of addresses by scammers.
Sure, QR codes are potentially better than USB, but not if they are made secretly like Safepal is doing.

My review will be on the newegg website .
Nice.
So it newegg sending you this hardware wallet or manufacturer directly?
If you don't mind, maybe you can also post your honest review in bitcointalk forum, since I am always interested in topic of hardware wallets and new stuff coming out.

My gut feeling on this wallet is if I can carry it around and key it into my phone maybe it is okay
I would not carry any hardware wallet all the time with me for various reasons, even if some of them look a lot like USB drives.
It's like you are carrying keys for all your wealth around the neck, but I guess some people like to live on the edge Smiley
5734  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Lowest Priced Exchange For Buying and Transferring BTC on: January 20, 2022, 12:55:28 AM
Know of any that charges minimal amount for external withdrawals?
FTX.com exchange is probably charging the lowest withdrawal fees for most coins, for Bitcoin they are free last time I checked.
I made some topic recently about aggregators for exchange withdrawal fees, so you can check them all out:

5735  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Error in buy BTC in Wyre with Electrum on: January 20, 2022, 12:50:05 AM
I'm trying to buy BTC via Wyre and it asks for my wallet address, so I go to Electrum and create an address to receive, copy and put in Wyre, but it says "Not found". How to fix this? Sorry, don't know english.
I never used Wyre but you can try testing with address from some other Bitcoin wallet, for example Bluewallet or Wasabi for desktop, and if it's not working again you can be sure it's problem with Wyre.
Contact their support for more help or even better use some alternative options, but I would be careful with all of them after Crypto.com got hacked big recently.
5736  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Created lightweight crypto screener for scalping on: January 20, 2022, 12:32:48 AM
To confirm that I'm creator I added meta tag
Thani you, it's confirmed you are the owner, you are now free to remove the tag with my username.
One more feedback, maybe you could add additional information for coins,  let's take Bitcoin for example, you could add total number of Long and Short position with more details.
More options is Settings would be cool, and some customization for users who want to remove coins they don't want to follow.
Maybe some modular design update would be good in this case.
5737  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Block’s Cash App Is Finally Integrating the Lightning Network on: January 20, 2022, 12:19:34 AM
It started with Squares, to Blocks and now it's Spirals  Cheesy
I see they are hiring a lot of people and not just for Spiral, but they recently posted job requirement for new hardware wallet they are making.
Jack Dorsey is very serious about Bitcoin and I have to say that I like him more now, than before when he was head of Twatter.
I think he even created special fund to help Bitcoin developers get deserved donations/paychecks.

Interesting thing about Spiral:

5738  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Lowest Priced Exchange For Buying and Transferring BTC on: January 20, 2022, 12:11:59 AM
Does anyone know the lowest priced exchange that would be the cheapest on Deposit with a credit card and then transferring out also.
You can use something like bestchange.com to see what exchanges have best rates for purchasing or selling bitcoin, but credit cards purchases usually have much higher fees.
Maybe best thing would be to skip centralized exchanges and use P2P trading or Bisq decentralized exchange, and receive BTC directly to your wallet.
That way you wont have to pay double fees or high withdrawal fees from exchanges.
5739  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How safe is a multi signature wallet on: January 19, 2022, 11:58:27 PM
Would the best thing to do be for me to use a 2 of 2 multi signature wallet, is it very safe, I'm seeking top security here, would I be able to sufficiently evade malwares and other forms of attacks if I do so.
You can't get ''top security'' with multisig using mobile phone and regular daily computer, and you should ask yourself why you really need multisig setup.
This is a great idea for people who own a lot of bitcoins, for companies and partners who want to split keys and control over bitcoin ownership.
It can only create more complication for you if you are not careful while setting it up, or if you only have small amounts of BTC.

Maybe you should listen to this short video by Andreas Antonopoulos - Is Multi-sig for the Average User?

5740  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Trezor Suite- highly recommended on: January 18, 2022, 02:54:50 PM
That’s odd that this is a known problem but not for all users  Huh  I have Tor turned on in my suite, and my browser is either chrome or DuckDuckGo (forgetting which off the top of my head) but I still receive this error message.  & you’re right. With all the updates they’ve done I can’t believe they haven’t incorporated at “right click here to copy tx” type deal.
One more way you can go around this issue even if you are offline is to click three dots and export all transactions in PDF, CSV or JSON.
It's not perfect solution, but you can still use it without opening your web browser, and you can always use Electrum wallet with your Trezor.

Assuming that I've understood everything correctly [based on @dkbit98's post and yours], I don't think that's a bug or a problem since that's how ".onion" links are supposed to be".
In all other wallets I used you can simply copy your transaction without any problem with a click or copy paste, so I don't want this extra step of opening browser to get this, and I don't want to search it in blockchain explorer.
I can't remember exactly but I think that even ledger have this option in their app.
