5761  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcoin Talk Promo Video on: December 09, 2018, 02:13:43 AM
Hey fellow Bitcointalk.org community members!  I thought I would make a simple promo video for the website.  It is posted on YouTube.  Hopefully it can help grow our community.  Let me know what you think!

https://youtu.be/H5ptfqX-tdo

But why it say at the start 'Don't gamble with crypto'? This forum isn't against gambling, so, there is no reason for that phrase.

The idea is good but it should say more about the forum, things like the areas it has, and the different topics we can discuss here.

But is a great initiative, good job.

https://blokt.com/news/indian-institute-of-technology-iit-bombay-professor-declares-bitcoin-safe-from-51-attack

https://cryptonomist.ch/en/2018/12/08/kfc-cryptocurrency-dash-venezuela/
https://www.forbes.com/sites/rebeccacampbell1/2018/12/07/exclusive-kfc-to-start-accepting-dash-payments-in-venezuela-next-week/#4f717c42613c

https://medium.com/cryptopurview/kfc-to-start-accepting-dash-payments-in-venezuela-3bfce0e05809

5765  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What happens if I set very low transaction fees on: December 07, 2018, 04:14:53 PM
I made a transaction setting a very low transaction fee (6 Sat/B). I thought it was enough but it's been over an hour and I can see my transaction is not still confirmed.

Question in my head is: What if the transaction never confirms? When will it be back to my wallet in that case?

Thanks in advance

Your transaction will confirm, but is low priority, so miners will give priority and will confirm first the transactions with high fees.

If you want to see the unconfirmed transactions and the fees they pay you can take a look to https://bitcoinfees.earn.com/

So, your transaction will confirm, but will take some blocks for it, so, no rush Wink
5766  Other / Serious discussion / Re: The Rap genre is the last bastion of misogyny that no one talks about. on: December 07, 2018, 03:13:03 PM
If you think Rap music is the last bastion of misogyny, let me introduce you to Reggaeton, the music gender where the woman isn't anything else than a piece of meat. Choose a random Reggaeton song and translate it, and you will understand how rap is an educated gender who respect women.

Fun fact, Latin America girls love Reggaeton, they don't agree with the lyrics but is nice music to dance.

5769  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: New scam schema on the forum on: December 07, 2018, 01:28:14 PM
Now while goin to withdraw he ask me to install the extension on this site - https://[suspicious link removed by LoyceV].org/#

Just read what it does LoL now Im scared to withdraw but I might try with an empty wallet.
Installing shady extensions is how you compromise your browser. Just don't do it!

The extension they ask you to install, is an extension who work with blockchain.com wallet, if you install the extension they will have access to all your addys.

The site where i get scammed was btcrolling, and after reviewing the site i was able to inject code. You can even inject code in your username, so that site is ready to get defaced.
5770  Economy / Scam Accusations / New scam schema on the forum - Free Money To Test Casinos on: December 07, 2018, 12:54:08 AM
So, we have a new scam schema in the forum, and want to give a warning to the community.

Users create an account and make a post offering $17 to test their casino as we can see in the image:

Then they told you, to withdraw you only have to place a bet, your bet will win, and after that, they will ask you for a depo to verify your account and that way you will be able to withdraw.

And i know this because i get scammed by them some weeks ago, i think it worth the risk to lose 0.01 for the chance to withdraw 0.7btc... I lose that money and learn the lesson, but if the forum doesn't stop these fuckers lot of user will get scammed with this schema. So, be careful people because they will not stop creating accounts and spamming.

What i want to propose is to block Brand new and newbies accounts to post links.

5771  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I am a loser. My only question now is, how do I tell my wife on: December 07, 2018, 12:37:34 AM
I mortgaged my house to buy $300,000 of ETH at 800.   I dod not tell her.   This house was paid off in full.  Now I cant make the mortgage payments with my job.  I cant even sell the ETH easily because I live in NH.   Should i keep holding?   Tired of making excuses about wherr all the money is going.   I guess I'm what you call a loser.   Thanks everyone.

Damn, what a history, i'm sorry about that, looks like you apply the 'Go big or go home' but in the way you fucked up hard. The only thing to do now is to hold and pray.

Your wife will get mad and really angry with that news, so, i would recommend to lie, tell her you but ETH but got scammed and lost all, i know, i know, lie is bad but think about how happy she will be when you tell her you to recover the ETH and the scammer is now on jail... After that comes the bad news about the market crash, but she will take it as not as terrible news.

I think this is the smart way to play it with the intention to conserve the relationship, you already lost the house, play it smart or you will lose your wife.
5772  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is it okay to trade on telegram? on: December 07, 2018, 12:29:43 AM
Most of the users have telegram here and they ask to trade there? Is this ok? Or it's more likely to get scammed when using outsource of the forum to trade?

The problem is the trust, who will send the coins first? or let me change the question, who will run with the coins first?

The only possible way to trade on a platform like telegram would be with a man in the middle, and that doesn't warrant that man will not run with both users coins. So the risk of doing that is enormous, just a terrible idea.
5773  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Who's The Loser Here? on: December 07, 2018, 12:26:51 AM
With the situation on ground, I'm  seeing Bitcoin at $3000 before the end of December. http://cryptoinfowatch.com/bitcoin-price-performance-show-november-as-the-worst-month-in-7-years/

The worst month in 7 years... no way!

I know $3500 is a massive crash, and maybe it hasn't ended yet, but we need some vision, at least isn't under $1k...

Open your eyes and see the opportunity you have in front of you guys, remember how hard was to but bitcoins this year, so, don't miss this chance, buy and hold! At the end the losers will be the ones who don't have the right vision, is our chance to become rich in 2020.
5774  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can Blockchain technology survive without Crypto currency? on: December 07, 2018, 12:21:05 AM
Sorry for this naive question. But I always have this doubt in my mind.
In my opinion, it should not since Blockchain is engine and Cryto is fuel.
Anyhow, I am afraid that I might be wrong.

Cryptocurrency in this Cryptonomics seems promising but lacking of adoption I would need more advice from your guys.

Cryptocurrencies are just one application of blockchain, and if all cryptocoins get banned the technology will survive, because the application it has is huge. Blockchain offers a new and revolutionary way to manage databases, so, with or without cryptocurrencies blockchain has come to stay with us.
5775  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Earn money with your skill while having fun on: December 06, 2018, 04:03:18 PM
So, you give us only these hints... Earn money, skills game, and have fun... Really? That doesn't tell us anything about the project.

Any skill-based game that involves real-money bets will be abused. Unless you can effectively keep out bots from plundering your human users, I dont see it going anywhere.

Yep, that's why we can't find any betting site who offer chess. In computer science there are no good skills, there are good coders, if you want to make a darts game, a coder can make the dart always hit in the middle,  and same with chess, you can open a chess game and play in the hardest way, just do the moves your enemy is doing in the betting site and then we will see all users playing like pros.
5776  Local / Servicios / Re: Apostando con bitcoin. on: December 06, 2018, 03:16:12 PM

5777  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Space mining-myth or reality? on: December 06, 2018, 02:03:12 PM
Well, the electricity isn't a problem at all, it can be solved with solar panels... But internet, that's the real problem, How would you provide internet in space for your miners.

And another problem is the maintenance, what if a fan fails, or a circuit get fucked up, you will go to the space to fix it?

And the last problem is the cost, send miners to space shouldn't be cheap.
5778  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why do we have to choose Open source software? on: December 06, 2018, 01:58:47 PM
We know that holding Bitcoin is better when users have full control over their funds. What makes an open source software better? Is there any advantage on using it than using close source wallet.

The software can be always tricked, i mean if we talk about wallets, if you go with a close source wallet provider what warrants you that he isn't saving a copy of your privatekeys in their DB... Another problem about closed source project is the security, you can't know if your provider is hashing passwords before saving them, and other security stuff. But with open source projects this doesn't happen because since users have access to the code, users can be sure if the provider is saving our information, and if he is managing security by the right way.

In other words, if bitcoin were a closed source project it would never have success because no one would trust on the project.
5779  Local / Servicios / Apostando con bitcoin. on: December 06, 2018, 01:36:01 PM
