You might already be planning this, but please do link to your final video. I love watching them. I guess we all dream of visiting space.

Well radio tracker is not that expensive, if you do it yourself about 70-100€ depending on parts. I have access to some that cost 130€ already working (software...) receiver is the expensive part ~190€.

Yes I saw that predictor, but this one is better: http://predict.habhub.org from the ukhas.co.uk guys

Oh yes, if your in the UK that one looks awesome. Cheers M8.

It says it will miss us. We need to be praying for it to hit us if we want to see a miracle.  Cheesy
5765  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: First Meta CEO found dead suspected of suicide on: March 05, 2014, 08:45:51 PM
Also fascinating that JP Morgan bankers top the list! What could be the possible reason?

How many work for JP Morgan?

How many police officers took their own life in the same time frame ?
How many plumbers took their own life in the same time frame?

While it might look sensational, people take their own lives every day, and the vast majority of them are not bankers.
I think your right. Having said that, if I worked for JPM, I'd kill myself also.

I love this. Some friends convinced me to try this last summer then bailed on the project. My part was to install some java code on a Motorola i425. Each minute it fetched the GPS lat./lon. and sent it as a text message to a website that plotted the positions on google maps.

I highly recommend doing it, but don't use the motorola if you want to get live tracking. GSM signal only works below 1000m so above that height, and this things go really high, you would have no clue of the location (until landing).

That was a concern. Our hope was to have a chase vehicle heading toward our expected landing area then wait for the signal to return once it starts pinging towers. Budget was the main reason I was using the i425. It was the cheapest phone I could find with GPS and that takes pre-paid cards.  I think now there are better options.

Oh, and you may have seen this already...

5768  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Protecting your coins. on: March 05, 2014, 08:19:00 PM
That looks solid to me.
You might consider a two wallet system. Keeping one wallet offline in a bank vault. Then set up a wallet with a smallish balance for daily use. I like physical security because it confuses me less. A well hidden safe + monitored home alarm + my AR-15 = real security.

What are those crazy coins they are selling? I only recognize SLL.
5771  Economy / Goods / [WTB] Diamonds on: March 05, 2014, 06:55:13 PM
I know we have goldbugs here. Anyone into diamonds? I'm looking into buying loose stones for a ring. A matched pair of .3ct white round cuts and a radiant 1ct. stone.

I only want F color or better, high specs all around.

Does anyone know of a place that takes BTC for this?
5772  Economy / Economics / Re: What would happen if someone owned all the Bitcoins? on: March 05, 2014, 06:38:57 PM
yes as it was already written it would be the end of Bitcoin! It will loose it's function - it will loose its liquidity
True, but I'm not worried. The real reason why no one can own all the coins is me. Like a lot of you I would demand quite a price to be bought out completely. My coins are worth $12,000 per coin. Take it or leave it.  Tongue
5773  Other / Off-topic / Re: WHO IS THIS HOT CHICK!??? on: March 05, 2014, 05:30:10 PM
OH MY FUCKING GOD HER ACCENT IS ANNOYING, I WANT TO FUCKING SHOOT HER. SHE IS OBVIOUSLY USING PEWDIEPIE TO GET FUCKING SUBS.

GET THIS BITCH OUT OUT THIS WORLD FOR 11 BTC.

SHE IS A DIVA BITCH THAT HAS NO OBVIOUS SKILLS IN LIFE, PROBABLY NO PRIOR JOBBING EXPERIENCE.
She said no to a date then?  Cry
5774  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: When Wall Street will finally jump in? on: March 05, 2014, 03:21:28 PM
Is it either because many of you are too naive, or too stupid to understand the nature of Bitcoin.
...
You don't know any of us, and there is no evidence you understand anything about bitcoin. The flaws you describe have always been a part of bitcoin. This is what a free market looks like and I Would not be interested in BTC if it were otherwise. Did you think free markets were nice? They are not, they are brutal and fluctuate wildly. The NYSE was like this also in the 1800's.
Regulation only created a profoundly unfair market. Your 401K isn't worth toilet paper yet you may well think that you are going to retire on it. Talk about a sucker, a 401K is a scheme where you put up all the money, take all the risk, and get 30% of the profit.
Call us all the names you want, consider us stupid fools; I don't care. The proof you are wrong can be found in our vaults full of gold, deeds, index funds, and bitcoin wallets.
5775  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin protocol can be hacked now! on: March 05, 2014, 03:08:34 PM
if a hacker has access to your system, why bother with that sophistication, just steal the wallet.dat
...
That's what I was wondering.  Huh
5776  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: made a purchase from overstock instead of amazon on: March 05, 2014, 03:02:53 PM
My favorite thing about shopping there is the security. As a test, I gave my account information to a friend and offered him 1BTC to try stealing from me. He could find my shipping address and see what I had bought but there was nothing he could steal. No credit card is associated with the account. If there was a card, he would have it. Go Bitcoin!
5777  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Safety revision after the Hacks going around these days on: March 05, 2014, 02:49:44 PM
Most important advice, IMO.

Get exclusive control of your private keys. Until you have that, you do not own bitcoins. Back your wallet up and put most in a wallet that stays off the internet. Put it in a safe deposit box or something that safe.
5778  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin won't ever become Mainstream. It's just a Prototype. on: March 05, 2014, 02:45:54 PM
I started getting warnings like this when bitcoin was about to reach $1. "Bitcoin will never be worth $1, here is a chart to prove it!"

 Roll Eyes

If you do a little reading you will see that your great discovery has been discussed for years now. It just does not pass the smell test with me because I have seen hundreds of threads like yours and made lots of money the whole time.

I guess a naive sucker like me just can't loose?
5779  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Hi Hey Hello! I am super new! on: March 05, 2014, 02:34:17 PM
Welcome fellow peer!

And don't worry about having gone to school for business. That seems to me to be broadly applicable. I bet it will even help with understanding the bitcoin economy.

-Cheers

They should repeat the survey in China
Bam! There it is.
They seem to only have surveyed Americans. Using their logic I have determined the following facts about BTC:

1. Most bitcoin users are overweight.
2. All bitcoin users live in capitalist democracies.
3. Virtually all bitcoin users speak English.
