5761  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will BTC reach $100,000 in December? on: December 18, 2021, 09:14:15 AM
because this month is not finished then nothing is impossible including bitcoin reaching $100k...

I see a lot of people who have hope for the next bitcoin ATH target, I think hitting $70k or $100k by the end of this year is pretty good. let's see what phenomenon will happen next.

Hope springs eternal, but for some, hope gushes forth in cascading streams.

13 days left, and yeah, I suppose getting BTC to go 115% from today til 1 January "only" means less than 9% gains spread out over this remaining period isn't entirely out of the realm of possibility... in fact, if that really happens I think we'll see a huge hole punched through the roof across to ATH.

But I'd be surprised if more than a handful of non-holders believe this is a possibility worth considering.

Well, no one is going to win anything from Matchday 18 picks since only 4 games are playing. I put my picks in of course even for the games postponed. Hit 2/7 on MD 17, which isn't too bad considering 2 of the games there were postponed.

Still bashing the 4+1 freebet promos though, they last til Boxing Day. Anyone else getting joy from this?

As I was saying above, why do you think they will ever mention Defi? A lot of so-called "Defi" projects have switched already to "metaverse", NFT, trading NFT, they forgot what they were supposed to disrupt, the DeFi hype has died down, it's time for the next one.

Yeah, it's a funny (not literally) adventure to go through some of the projects that were around since 2017/18 and see their quiet rebrandings. From ICO-style "revolutionise/disrupt X industry" to defi to NFT and now metaverse. Forget the favourite word they like to use when shifting their focus (all the while not shifting their actual work, which is almost purely marketing). Edit: the word they like to use is "pivot". lawl.

I'm still waiting for Long Blockchain Corp to decide if it will become Long Blockchain Metaverse NFT Corp. I mean, the last hype name switch they did brought wondrous gains for their shares...

Don't know if people actually learn any lessons from this at all, or realise Bitcoin is really the only thing that's stayed on a steady development path.

@buwaytress so you’re saying all those who wagered on Hamilton even they got paid?, if yes then that’s a terrific gesture from the sportsbet io team, because Hamilton did deserve to win and while I had been wishing someone else to win but not in this fashion. Furthermore as I said earlier today it’s Liverpool title to lose, because Chelsea have lost their way and City is the only team standing now in their way but for how long I wonder.

Yup! Check Steve's post above, all bets on both guys were paid out. Not the first time on early payouts too. Last season as I mentioned, City outright paid out early, and while other books were drawing out the US elections decision, SB was the first to settle all Biden bets. There have been other payouts or "forgiven losses" too... I remember a Blackjack bust some time last season that they refunded money to all who lost. I'd list out other gestures too but let's not get too carried away about how great a book SB is heh heh.

Can't wait to meet City again, I still think we should have punished them last meet.

Maybe this season they'll pay out Liverpool outright by January? No wink wink nudge nudge.
Haha, you’re pushing your luck there bro. At least give them until February or March when we’re 11 points clear Wink

Everybody be aware of what games they bet on this weekend. There are a lot of postponements due to COVID breaking into PL squads. I think there may be more too.

Champions League payout would be nice too heh heh. I've got a modest outlay on Liver winning UCL (about 84/10) and EPL (about 56/10). Would have gone for a double/treble special if I found any. Call me the everlasting optimist.

Yeah, I'm taking foot off gas this month on betting. It's unknown territory with this Covid issue.

I hate it when matches on my ticket get void. It ruins my insurance on x5 multi tickets and butchers the odds on high stake ones. They are only good for my local fiat bookie. They have special boosted odds for one game if you take 6 games multi. If all other games get voided you still get your boosted odds Smiley

Amen to that my friend. I hate losing bets, I hate weird calls, but nothing gets me more frustrated than voided legs and now with all these Covid postponements I'm probably going to stay away from European accas for a while. I made one last one tonight.

I wonder how boosts work for Sportsbet when you get voided. I've had actually accas where I won but one or two legs voided, but can't really recall how the final payout worked. Tried searching my history but I guess it must have been some time last season. I'll see if I win this one and then I can confirm how it works if I remember what the non-boosted odds were haha.

5767  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2021/2022 on: December 17, 2021, 11:46:40 AM
@KTCChampions: I didn't see that Salah to score was 3.2 or I'd have taken it for sure. Problem is, odds on him scoring have always been only around 15/10 so I almost stop looking at that market... I do like using it as a boost in Betbuilder types of games but phew, anything over 3/1 is amazing with the form he's in.

Trent's goal was a thunderbolt! Funny thing is the goal came just after the commentators praised Newcastle goalkeeper and Trent just lashed a shot into the net. That goal have sealed the 3 points for Liverpool. Konate is on point tonight. Man has been real solid for Liverpool lately even with the absence of VVD, I don't notice much lapses in our defense. I'm glad we got a backup when we needed one so we won't suffer like we did last year when VVD was out for the season.

Yeah Konate won at least 3 really tough duels with Maxima and that guy's also a beast in his own right. I'm the first to admit I haven't been absolutely convinced by him (despite commentators and his good post-match ratings) but I feel like this was his best game, and he's playing more and more like Liverpool style, fewer desperate clearings and more build-up from the back attempts.

Our defence was much better than our offence last night, even Trent as I said earlier is really taking his defensive game up several notches.

Holy crap F1 winners payout on both Ham and Lew, I'd forgotten Sportsbet loves to payout winners early, last season you'll remember they paid out City outright with something mad like 20 games to go, and also on Biden long before the recount drama settled.

Maybe this season they'll pay out Liverpool outright by January? No wink wink nudge nudge.
5769  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2021/2022 on: December 16, 2021, 09:45:31 PM
Anyone saw first half Liverpool? Salah seems to have found a new outside foot skill, counted at least 3 beautiful crosses in, all of them really good with no good end product at the end. Not that he's not used that before but he was really enjoying it tonight. So good to see him so unhappy leaving field at past 70th haha.

Liverpool still look good, but no Fabinho and VVD does seem to take some of the game out. Konate's changing my mind quickly about his reliability too... and Trent super tackle? Then he tops it off with that goal. Phew.

5770  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Binance permanently shuts down Singapore operations. on: December 16, 2021, 07:40:21 PM
I doubt it's a popularity factor, since I don't think Singapore has a more trusted crypto exchange than Binance (but someone please correct me if I'm wrong on that point).  And I'm not sure about how strict Binance is/was being regulated in that country, but I can't imagine they'd shutter their doors if it wasn't because of regulators giving them a hard time.

I haven't kept up in about 3/4 years but anyone I knew trading in Southeast Asia has been fine with Localbitcoins (which has "exchange" and auto bots putting up trades there).

And also Luno. That's super popular in Malaysia, Philippines, Indonesia. I'd assumed Singapore too. Don't know why but Binance pulled out of Africa too last year and it wasn't as if there was an exodus of exchanges there.

Trimming down the business maybe?

Huobi is also a trusted exchange that has been operating in the country longer and has been subject to the same legal action. I remember that Huobi global also plans to close their operations next year. On the other hand, only the stock exchange branch (Huobi Singapore) is allowed to continue operating (source).

Speaking of, I just got an email today from Antpool asking to change any withdrawal addresses that is linked to Huobi Global. Never used the exchange myself but I had accounts on both Huobi + Global but they kept changing entities and accounts I gave up trying to know which to keep (almost like how Bittrex started moving us around when they had US and global sites).
5771  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sportsbet.io's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: December 16, 2021, 06:39:15 PM
AFCON will be though for Liverpool, even if they were just loosing Salah it would be devastating since he is in the best form of his career but loosing him and Mane at the same time could place serious dent in the attack. Especially if Firmihno does not get back from injury.

Yeah, and the situation could change there. Afcon says the tourney must go on but things could change drastically with UK travel restrictions. I sense a storm brewing. Bobby will feature for sure, I'm not worried about him, but I'm not sure how Firmino-Jota-Origi-Mina will play, possible a change of formation to fit that in. Crazy month Jan if so.

Btw, congrats on getting back to the top of the leaderboard! Whatever you say, you are literally the best in our pool in predicting exact scores. 66 so far, pretty impressive. Smiley

Heh thanks, honestly thought I'd slip back down after a terrible night last night (wrong end of 1-0 prediction and draw which I really didn't think was coming for Palace). 3-0 and 3-1 if I'm not mistaken are my best performing predictions this season, when predicting on the favourites (4-0 hasn't hit but also brought me close scores). LFC_Bitcoin and slaman are killing it this time, and even rdbase has been on a 2-week tear...
5772  Economy / Speculation / Re: Why the bitcoin market has been dumping so much for months on: December 16, 2021, 06:20:18 PM
It should easily mount a turn around here in this area, both for support, trend and moving averages supporting that possibility.   If we do break below 200 day average and stay there on 4hr bars leading to a weekly close then I expect far more trouble at that point.   51k or above I will be more confident then right now where it deserves some caution

Trusty 200ma hasn't failed me often enough to make me turn away, and the past couple of weeks, despite very disappointing attempts to hold on to gains, I think this time next week we should see where we head -- but not if we also end up neither side (breaking 200ma or above 51k).

Tough to expect retail money to come in and bolster moves up now though with economic conditions everywhere I'm reading just looking more dire.
5773  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Bullish Scenario - Minimum will reach $75000 on: December 16, 2021, 05:36:26 PM
From the bearish conditions that we have experienced for almost the last month, we can see that the price of bitcoin is almost close to the $40k price level. As long as we don't find a large bearish candle, the bullish scenario for Bitcoin will still occur. The next projected bitcoin price target is around the $74k-$75k level.

$40k is still a good 20% distance away so I'm not sure we can we're close to that (otherwise we're equally close to 59k and we're not).

I'm thinking as always that volumes are more important than anything else in terms of striking movements in either direction. I'll be happy to take and hold on to 60,000 for the new year... would still represent a highly impressive YTD.

How much did you guys get on your post monthly bonus?

I'm a paltry player on Stake in general I guess, though it really depends on the month and the kind of wagering I tend to do. If I got big on dice, then I try to maximise lottery tickets (and yes I know it's kind of pointless haha), then I can easily get double-digit bonus, but hardly near $50...

I haven't got any post monthly that I can see yet though, just the 10 day Christmas countdown one.
5775  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2021/2022 on: December 15, 2021, 09:31:23 PM
The day I don't choose Wolves, is the day they decide to win. Should have seen it coming though, they've turned into a sort of "beat your team into submission and try to sneak a goal in" team.

Palace-Saints was at least highly entertaining but Vieira will feel like his team wasted a chance to get full points, though Saints too could have grabbed a winner as both sides really went for it at the end.

Bleh.
5776  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 90% is already there, only 10% is left on: December 15, 2021, 06:40:44 PM
Nah, don't think people are really buying Bitcoin "because it's getting scarcer" anymore. It didn't budge them at 80% mined I don't think it'll budge them at 90%. Maybe at 99%, but then again when fractions are easily available, and altcoins with even scarcer new supply failed (not to mention various burning models, looking at you, Ethereum), I think the only way people really sit up and buy is when actual available supply dries up.

And that's already happening now, demand just simply hasn't woken up and smelled that coffee.

Christ, Man City really gave Leeds an ass whooping didn’t they Cheesy
Hopefully Liverpool do something similar to Newcastle. I was supposed to be going to the game but had to give up my ticket.

Liverpool should do the same if they want to follow step by step in the fight for the title.I don't remember about last year but a couple of years ago when Liverpool won they did the escape exactly in this heavily tight schedule where games are played every three days.Newcastle although they are a rich club now, they can only intervene in the club on January when the possibility to transfer players will be open so Liverpool should have an easy win tomorrow night.

Hope it was worth giving up ticket for... I know we had two single goal games now after a string of high scoring ones but I saw those as blips more than running aground, we were still playing well, just uncharacteristically profligate (Jota especially).

Am hardly worried though. We just need to match City every step of the way, and nice to have Chelsea pushing us as well. December heat is seldom our problem... We top Christmas often enough. It is Afcon and January that keep haunting us season after season. IIRC our six loss streak last season set off around that time... Though that was really more of an assembly line of injury bad luck that started with VVD.

I can't think of a single project that's done better than it could because its creator stuck around and continued to lead the project.

And I can't think of a single project that had a leader who doesn't envy what Bitcoin has become or was becoming. Lee stepped down from Litecoin, Buterin took as many steps away as he could from Ethereum, hell, even Dogecoin got abandoned.

They all wished they'd done it the way Satoshi did, proving immediately how decentralised Bitcoin was, and how well the idea worked.

Nice late goal from Ollie Watkins to give me a good start to this week's MajSev (too bad for United's postponed game, and too bad also for City-Leeds not being in there as I'd definitely have picked KdB). Just hoping Spurs don't get another postponement with all the crazy stuff going on in EPL with infections.

Going to be hard to make picks too if team news comes up late all the time and schedules all bunched up against each other. Don't envy you, Tornike Wink
