5781  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [NEWS] U.S. Regulators Sue Crypto Startup Telegram Over Initial Coin Offering on: October 12, 2019, 04:40:06 AM
Very weird, I think Telegram is just a medium here, US SEC have been targeting a lot of ICO's in the past and successful sue them, but I think they've step up against Telegram here. I think they are barking on the wrong tree here. It seems that they go on a shortcut, so instead of cutting the arms, they directly go the head. Anyways, let's see how it goes for gram.

Sad to be a American crypto enthusiast today, Grin

US SEC's intention is to stop Americans from investing on crypto because they want to protect them. But it doesn't mean that they are a hindrance or trying to obscure crypto for that matter.
5782  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Canelo vs Kovalev WBO Light Heavyweight Championship on: October 12, 2019, 04:18:33 AM
I agree, he can still focus on this big fight ahead of him and let his legal team handles his issues on the court. And I'm sure this lawyers already assure him that nothing bad will happen to him and he should concentrate on Canelo first and bent his frustrations on that guy.

November 2 is the fight and his day in court is November 25. If his day in court will happen before his fight, I think that would have an effect because the outcome of that trial will have an impact to his performance, that's a big mental distraction. But since its going to happen after his fight (23 days), he can focus on his fight first and take all his anger to his opponent. His camp will play a very big part on this fight, they must keep his (Canelo) focus on the fight.

Kovalev has been in the boxing for many years and we all know that Canelo is the favourite here, but he will have his boxing moments, he is the bigger guys and the champion here. So his team will put that in their mind to really reignite Kovalev's second coming as a champion.
5783  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: October 12, 2019, 03:48:22 AM
Not the firs time, if my memory serves me right, it has happened a lot in the past. There are grand slams that the top two seed players are even out earlier.

This year Shanghai Master game is a little weird for the two most talented and higher ranking tennis players were both out the tournament same day. But, I believe Tsitsipas and A. Zverev will both proceed to the final stage of the game base on their performances against Djokovic and Federer.
I guess the younger generations are now taking over, Medvedev has been running circles this year and has the potential to catch up Federer in the rankings and so as Thiem and Zverev.
5784  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Community still believes in Ethereum 2.0 despite scaling challenges on: October 11, 2019, 11:59:08 PM
Yep, it could really bring some positive signs for Ethereum supporters in the long run. And who really knows, we might see it crosses $1k again, Lol. Last time we got there, it was a good and happy moment for everyone, early January-February 2018 when bitcoin was already on a downward spiral, Ethereum was making its run to a new all-time-high.

Ethereum 2.0 may not bring ICO to be active like in 2017. But, definitely may provide some positive vibes into crypto community. When some new revolutionary technology would be innovated like how ethereum was celebrated on its arrival, who knows ethereum may test again $1000 too.

Ok let's say give Ethereum the benefit of the doubt here. It looks like they're really working very hard on this project of them (ETH 2.0) to bring back the confidence of investors and hope that the price could go on another boost after the released next year. And let's see if it will really solved their scaling issue, I mean ETH is still quite fast today, but they want to improved it because of so many competitions out there. But for those who thinks that it will bring back the 2017 glory days of altcoin, I doubt it, this is just a small steps to just shows the the people behind this project is still doing and keep it active because they really know that other crypto are hot on their tail and future ICO/IEO would choose other platforms to run their projects on mainnet not name Ethereum.
I agree that there's competition and Ethereum is not that dominant anymore and up to today you will notice projects making exodus, to Tron and EOS and even BNB mainnet. But I believed that Ethereum can rise to the occasions and meet their competition with this new released next year.
5785  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2019 NBA Season on: October 11, 2019, 11:39:29 PM
I agree with you that he is a good fit to the Lakers but is the Laker's salary cap would still allow him to the team?
From what I've read, the Lakers roster is already full so an addition for him is not going to happen unless the management will trade someone for him.

Another reason is the injury factor of Iggy. Recently he always acquire injury every now and then. So the chances of him being picked by the Lakers is low because of injury factor and the salary cap.

I would agree that Iggy is really getting old, although he still contributes as lot specially during his GSW stint. I really thought that Lakers are going to get him, as a second stringers and to play defense against the opponent's best player.

But Lakers don't have a choice because of salary cap and as much as Lebron wanted Iggy beside him, it won't materialised. But who knows maybe we can see a trade down the line and see Iggy on the Lakers mid-season.
5786  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: BAKKT The Pump To November on: October 11, 2019, 11:18:03 PM
And half are predicting that bitcoin will go on the $6k-$7k levels? So what does this mean? We can never really tell if Bakkt is going to really pump the market in November or it will push the price even more.

It may have been affecting bitcoin for a little bit since some people are selling their bitcoin in exchange for Bakkt but will that be enough to see a large pump this November.
Half of them are also predicting bitcoin to go large before the end of the year.

For sake of transparency though, and for those who wanted to hear some positive news about Bakkt:

https://twitter.com/Bakkt/status/1182299015142133762

As we continue to build the Bakkt Bitcoin Futures contract, we reached a new trading record of 212 contracts traded yesterday.

So according to them, they have established a new trading record in about what two or more weeks? So there could be some good news to come by in the future.
5787  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin & Bubble Comparison on Charts on: October 11, 2019, 10:49:33 PM
Bitcoin's boom and bust are just a cycle and it exactly happens every four years, (which is the scheduled block halving). So we might see the bubble being burst in 2017, but it doesn't mean that it's the end of bitcoin.

And after that followed a long bearish trend which bitcoin proponents will argue that it has been busted. But wait, the halving will come in 2020 that will ignite the market again and see who are going to see another bubble and another all time high in the future, and then followed by another burst, then repeats the cycle all over again.
5788  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Would you sell your entire crypto right now with 500 percent profit? on: October 11, 2019, 10:27:33 PM
Depends on your target, if you have been holding your coins for so long, I don't think that 500% is enough, just saying. I know some individuals who target more than that, because after all they have been keeping their coins for so long that most of them totally forget it already or will just sell it if something goes wrong, like an emergency and needed cash.

I am really curious about this question. To be clear, if there would be an opportunity to sell your tokens and make x5 right here and right now in exchange for promise to never invest in crypto again. How many people are ready to sell their tokens/coins at the moment and never come back?
Personally though, I might probably push the sell button, but not everything, I will kept 50% remaining and then see how the market will react and then go back in the trading. I also doubt that speculators and traders will quickly say "I'm done" with crypto. I'm sure they will be attracted sooner or later and be lure back because of the potential gains you can make in the future.
5789  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Errol Spence Jr. Vs Manny Pacquiao on: October 11, 2019, 10:04:35 PM
There are no injuries, as reports say he is already in a stable condition, and as others have said, he is very lucky to not have any injuries at all despite the accident specially if you have seen it in the videos floating around.

It would be impossible for Errol Spence to fight Manny after the accident he suffered lately in his Ferrari vehicle. Now that he's injured, I don't think the fight between the two will come to reality. Hoping for speedy recovery for Spence.
Of course he needs to go to rest for now and not talk about boxing and he should go to his families to recover mentally. I know that it's not easy to from a horrible car accident like this and most of the time individuals have different coping mechanism. Anyway, I still hope that he can comeback and fight again and everyone is still waiting for that Pacquaio match in the future after his recovery.

Community still believes in Ethereum 2.0 despite scaling challenges

Quote

At the 2019 Devcon in Japan, the Ethereum community was optimistic about the launch of the network’s second iteration, seemingly untouched by the latest controversy surrounding claims made by Ethereum’s founders about its inability to scale and grow.

https://cryptoslate.com/community-still-believes-in-ethereum-2-0-despite-scaling-challenges/

Oh yes, I think ETH 2.0 will really bring some positive vibes in the ecosystem. Lots of enthusiasts are waiting for this specially solving the scaling issue which Ethereum has been facing specially in the last two years or so. I believed that they really very serious in tackling it, that's why they are busy promoting this ETH 2.0.

What are your thoughts about this one? Do you think that we will see some bull run when ETH 2.0 are released early next year?
5791  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Binance is not a Chinese Exchange on: October 10, 2019, 11:09:30 AM
I think the point of contention for some is that Binance was founded in China by CZ but due to the regulatory pressures, moved to Japan and then again due to FSB hard line stances against exchange (they have laid down their own regulations) Binance then suddenly moved to Malta wherein they are welcome because the country is really attractive back then and still is at this point.

So for some this is a bitch moved by Binance (moving from one country to another to get away) and this is the main reason why many are surprised by CZ decision to open up a P2P trading recently in China, just saying.

Yeah Malta is an absolute Tax Heaven and along with that pretty lenient  with most of the regulations of companies. This is the reason why they chose Malta instead of any other Country. While searching for this I got to know that even Bitfinex operates in Hong Kong but it is registered in British Virgin Islands which once again is a country with lenient Regulations and basically a Tax Heaven. Huobi is operable chiefly in Singapore so basically no Exchange operates in the Mainland China due to Restrictions and this is definitely not bitching it's just safe tax planning.
Don't forget about World’s Second Largest Crypto Exchange OKEx Moves To ‘Blockchain Island’ Of Malta. Others call it a bitch moved because that time Binance is not yet the top crypto exchange, but now it seems that the move was just pure business strategy.

@timerland - I agree, we all know that Chinese have a deep pockets as far as investing their wealth in crypto its that the government want's to control everything. But the move will definitely open the market again for the Chinese so a win-win specially for CZ.
5792  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Inoue vs. Donaire WBSS Bantamweight Final on: October 10, 2019, 10:43:31 AM
I've got a different view on this one bro, this is just another fight for Donaire where he should earn bucks for his family. The biggest test of Donaire's career is the first fight between him and Darchinyan. After he beat that dude, he instantly became a superstar in boxing to Filipinos and some foreigners as well.

I believe that Donaire still has some tricks left in him to defeat the Japanese Monster and this fight is not an easy one for him though. Win or lose, i'll put my money on this guy, Donaire.

I agree that against Vic Darchinyan is the biggest test, remember he was a no name fighter back then and it was even touted as a revenge since Vic defeated the older brother of Nonito prior if I'm not mistaken.

So for me there's no pressure for Donaire here, just a regular fight and it will be good for him. Instead of thinking of it as one big test, without any pressure I think he can still win against Inoue although the odds are against him.

I feel the same, I have a feeling that it will be an upset and we bettors who favors Donaire will be having a good day if we start betting now.
Donaire is not a kind of boxer who will just dance in the floor, this man will also look for a knock out shot so he can prove that he is still here, and he knows that when he will beat this undefeated boxer, his career will also improve and he might have another big fight again that would give him a good pay check.
I'm also going to favour Donaire, and the odds as posted by @bisdak40 is really very attractive for us.

Yes, he doesn't dance in the floor, if given the chance to give his fans a knockout specially in the early rounds he will definitely go for it, just like what he did in this tournament. And since this is the finals, I'm sure he will gave everything he can to win and give his fans something to cheer about just like when he beat Vic Darchinyan.
5793  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Errol Spence Jr. Vs Manny Pacquiao on: October 10, 2019, 10:20:35 AM

That’s the sad part that in boxing it’s not the team or the fighter who looks for whom they will fight to,but it’s the promoter who make the job ,so sometimes mismatched happens

To make it short, this is all about money, and promoter are also marketing their best boxer that every he will fight he can sell to the fans.
He doesn't need to fight the best as it could stop their journey as a boxer if they loss and of course the income would stop for those promoters.
Actually without promoters these boxers has no career so even if promoters usually makes bigger money compared to the boxers, that's alright as their job is not easy, they invested and they could loss their money as well.
Completely right, boxers is nothing without good promoters who works well in order to advertise and create a good names for those boxing stars.

Going back to this fight, we are all anticipating that it will be finalized and give the fans the time for analyzing and placing bets much earlier.
And that's why some boxers choose to fight for their right specially about the money. Remember that Oscar Dela Hoya and Floyd Mayweather are just some of the boxers who demanded to be released from their contract with Arum back then, and look at where the two are right now. As compare to what happened to Mike Tyson who was milk by Don King but in the end Tyson doesn't have even a single penny in his bank account.

Too early to say though if this is fight are going to push through, the ball is on Manny's side, he is a Senator so he prioritise it, so it make sense that the fight could happen if he has a break in the next coming months.

5795  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: How can we stop centralized exchanges from manipulating the price of tokens on: October 09, 2019, 03:18:01 PM
While everyone keeps have individual opinions and speculations on the next prices of cryptos, especially on the next altcoin season, I'll say we are moving nowhere because of price manipulation by exchanges. The actions of some exchanges is dropping the prices of tokens unnaturally and these affects market and industry confidence. How can we attract new money into the market when top wash trading exchanges like Bitforex and Bibox still exists and deceives people freely?
I don't think that we can formulate something to really attract new money in the market. I guess the market cycle will eventually caught on us specially when the bull run starts on alt market. You will be amaze on the poor judgement and irrational buyers in a bull run, believed me.

I don't need to add links to prove, but just google these exchanges and add the wash trading to your search term, you'll be marvelled at the results you'll find.
A good link to start with: https://www.bti.live/
5796  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2019 NBA Season on: October 09, 2019, 02:26:59 PM
Who are happy right now that Ben Simmons finally hit his first three point shot in his NBA Career?? I'm not a fan of 76ers but I'm just happy with this milestone. Lots of memes on the twitter and lots of news in the internet. Your opinions?? Here are some links to read:

https://www.abc.net.au/news/2019-10-09/ben-simmons-just-hit-a-three-why-is-everyone-freaking-out/11585932

https://www.nbcsports.com/philadelphia/76ers/ben-simmons-made-three-pointer-twitter-social-reactions-went-nuts

Now how says he can't shoot? LOL..  He made it but I don't like to count it, I would officially start counting in the regular season as that's what you called a real game. This guy is good inside but his jump shooting is aweful and I think he understands the competition that's why he develop himself and hopefully we will see some more when the regular season finally starts.
It's a good start for him to build his confidence shooting outside, even it's not the regular season yet but if he keeps on doing this and make it a regular part of his skills, it will be an addition to his greatness. He's still young and many more improvements can take place, Remember that when MJ start changing his game style he became more dangerous. Good luck to him, Lets wait if he will fire it out in the regular season.
It's just one 3pt shot but I guess he works on it during off season. We may see him making 3's next season. Imagine, if he became good in 3pt line, that's a big help to Sixers. Having skills in 3pt line is a must have now. Game has change, even big man or center are taking 3s already. It may become tougher for them to reach in NBA Finals though. There's Bucks, as well as duo of Durant and Irving in Brooklyn.
Well it's just a matter of time before he realises that 3's today are a standard.

We have big men shooting 3's, so it's good to see him making improvements this season. I also think that Lonzo Ball did change his shot specially on how the way he releases his 3's during a pre season game they have against the Hawks.

So it is a must now, if you wanted to really help the team. I guess when he say Kawhi made the 3's to end up their dream last year was a wake up call for him.
5797  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Ethereum Price Action in relation to Bitcoin on: October 09, 2019, 02:06:51 PM
It looks quite difficult to get into that phase again, now we can see where BTC dominance is already very large in the market, I think ALT season will come when BTC dominance decreases maybe in the range of 50%, so you can estimate if BTC dominance decreases meaning ALT season will appear soon.
< 50% would be a good indication that alt is slowly getting back and investors are coming in the market again. But if you look at the dominance today, alt are still suffering and bitcoin is still as strong as ever. There were times that it crosses 70%, as and far as I can remember that's the biggest dominance we have ever since in recent years.

As far as the price of Ethereum goes, the charts look solid and it could be a good indication that at least reaching $200-$300 at the end of the year is possible. So let's see how it goes, I'm seeing green today and hope that it will continue to at least touch base $200 in the next coming weeks or before the end of the month.
5798  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: THE BITCOIN HALVING EXPLAINED! on: October 09, 2019, 01:28:35 PM
Many people on this forum don't have the idea what this halving of BTC is all about. So for them this is a simple info-graphic I found on Internet which pretty much explains what is Bitcoin Halving.

I think many people here do know about that event however, they don't understand what's the meaning of this so called block halving. We can also include the timer here:

https://www.bitcoinblockhalf.com

But yes, thanks for this infographics, I think having visuals will give more users understand why this event in bitcoin's history is important. Specially how it will cut in half in half resulting in BTC being scarce and this will cause the price to spike dramatically after the said event. But people need to understand as well that the price won't shoot overnight.
5799  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Biggest altcoin portfolio on: October 09, 2019, 01:04:04 PM
What's the biggest altcoin portfolio you have ever come across?
For me, it is 25K xrp, 4.5k eth.

Personally, I haven't reach that status, but I have several BTC already stash somewhere else.

But if you have that in your portfolio, then yes, this is very huge and it looks like you are on your way of making big money here just by holding on it.

It's good to see that there are smart investors today. I mean we are in the bear market, so it's really a good time to stash more coins and just HODL on it. You can start small and then continue to grow your portfolio throughout the years.
5800  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: True Value of Bitcoin - it is NOT a tulip ponzi scheme on: October 09, 2019, 12:46:05 PM
Good for you mate, specially that it looks like you are a early investors of this technology and didn't give up holding your coins and realised it's true potential specially during the peak of 2017.

As far as tulip comparison though, I think it's because of the cycle of the tulip mania back then. But if you are going to look at bitcoin's history, yes it's a boom and bust but the cycle still continues but the tulip bubble that time was just a bust and was not able to recover.

Bitcoin is a cycle as I have mentioned, so there is sort of recovery, it's just how you are going to take it as an investors, you can sell it or just continue to hold until the cycles completed and then start all over again.
