Racists have always been a part of the republican party helping them win elections.

Nope, but thanks for playing revisionist history bingo.

we need to stop labeling things! I'm not a democrat! i'm not a republican! i'm not green, i'm not a Libertarian! Im a person with a brain! i pick good ideas from many of the previously listed gangs and make my own political ideology

Political ideas generally flow from an underlying worldview.  It is unlikely that good ideas would be evenly distributed across the political spectrum.  They are likely to reside with the party whose worldview most closely reflects reality.
583  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Tea Party explained: a religious movement on: July 19, 2014, 02:19:43 AM
A very interesting post.  It does seem to fit what is happening with the tea party today. Sadly it is turning into a religion of hatred.
Why is it the actual haters are always the first to accuse the other side of hatred?

You post an article with the sole purpose of slandering a group of people who are trying to bring a semblance of fiscal sanity to the most indebted country in the history or the world and they are haters?

Have you also yet figured out that the article is not saying the TEA Party is an actual religion (Christian fundamentalist) but rather has the characteristics of a religion, as do socialism, atheism, and especially the environmental movement?

584  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][AUR] Auroracoin - a cryptocurrency for Iceland on: June 20, 2014, 12:52:46 PM
Guys... Sorry if I'm too noob to this thing, but...
There's already a GLOBAL coin for everyone, called bitcoin.
There's another GLOBAL one which is different in its algorhythm, called litecoin.

These are GLOBAL coins. Everyone in the world can use them.
So why do you try to LIMIT a coin to a country AT ALL? It's like you wanted to regulate it, just like governments try to do. Even your people can't understand not to sell them just after receiving them.
What's the use of creating all kinds of more global coins at all? They're all targets for speculators, nothing more.

We already have the solution for the whole world's problem, and it's called bitcoin. (and maybe litecoin)

Try to obtain bitcoin or litecoin while living in Iceland.

Have any of the IPO buyers received their "free" Quebec maple syrup yet?

586  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] IPO of MaidSafe:  Entering the Future of the Decentralized Internet on: May 03, 2014, 01:04:04 PM

Apathy is one of the key elements that has lead to the disgraceful state of this community.
We could make coin launches fair and IPO's safe for investors.
We could demand the operator of bitcointalk implement community agreed-upon rules and regulations for coin launches.
We could prevent 100% of all fraudulent scamcoins like stackcoin and edgecoin.

I realize you're relatively new to bitcoin (at least if your sign-up date on the forum is a gauge) so you may come to cryptocurrency for different reasons, but I don't think many early bitcoin adopters are here because we want more 'community-organized safety' in our lives.

We're not here because we want other people looking out for us.  We're here because there is a palpable lack of freedom in our world.
587  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] IPO of MaidSafe:  Entering the Future of the Decentralized Internet on: May 03, 2014, 12:57:00 PM

Yes if a drunk driver slams his porche into the side of your parked vehicle and you are badly injured, whats the point of seeking compensation for your loss? It's in the past right? It's already happened? What kind of moron are we dealing with here.

People have been ripped off, they have a right to voice their opinions, concerns and disapproval.
Sanity my ass. If something is wrong it is our duty to try make it right. You ever hear the expression "if you're not part of the solution, you are part of the problem"?

If you are standing in the middle of a freeway of drunks, you know they're drunks, and you know they are all driving 100 mph and you get hit?  Right, that IS your problem.

People have not been ripped off.  In fact, this IPO has been more generous than advertised.  Everyone was made fully aware of the option to purchase with Mastercoin, this was not hidden.  I myself purchased only with BTC and am grateful for the opportunity to have done so.  Because I had absolutely nothing to do with the development of maidsafe, yet I (along with everyone here) was given the opportunity to buy in at the ground level of what could be a game-changing company.

If you know of someone who did not receive the maidsafecoin they were promised in return for their BTC or Mastercoin, then post the details.  Otherwise stop feeding people's greed and sense of entitlement.

I haven't forgotten about the maple syrup, everyone who was promised some is still getting it (and it's more than 5 ! It's 8 I believe).

I can't imagine why this didn't get sent out a month ago.  There's no reason it couldn't happen this afternoon.  You should make it happen now for credibility sake.
589  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] IPO of MaidSafe:  Entering the Future of the Decentralized Internet on: May 02, 2014, 12:15:14 PM
Wow ladies hand bags at dawn!

The IPO clearly wasn't run correctly, we all know this. I personally believe that the Maidsafe team knew there were risks involved with their IPO strategy but overlooked them as small risks to what the benefits raised through the Mastercoin/Maid partnership.  These risks clearly came to fruition having a much larger impact then they first thought.  We have to remember the maidsafe team have also taken a big loss here.

Now being a BTC investor tbh I knew the risks to start with, Maidsafe were very open about the Mastercoin strategy before the safe but I did not worry myself with the complications of earning a few extra maidsafe coins.  At the end of the day, like most investors I could probably imagine we're in this for the long haul.  Its got nothing to do with a quick win, it is about supporting the Maidsafe project and hoping that it will pay off much MUCH further down the line. I couldn't give a crap about MSC investors dumping coins below IPO value, that's up to them hopefully they will be kicking themselves a couple of years from now when safecoins are floating at a healthy value.

At the end of the day BTC investors were promised 17,000 maid for 1 btc (+40% bonus) and thats what was delivered. Nothing more, nothing less. Don't get me wrong I still feel for those who lost out on the BTC > MSC > BTC but this sale was very unpredictable and as they say "the early bird gets the worm".

At the end of the day it's over with now, instead of bickering on here like little children lets all sit back, take a deep breath, hold onto our maidsafe coins and lets see how this really plays out in the long term. Finger pointing and jumping to conclusions mid game is a pointless waste of energy and oxygen. The starting pistol has fired. If your in the race just keep running.

And for those of your who didn't invest and are still complaining. Why? Are you that concerned for other forum members well-being or are you just seeking the attention?

My 2 cents.
+1
thank you for bringing some sanity to this discussion
590  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Compairing price paid by BTC and MSC Backers of Maidsafe IPO on: May 01, 2014, 09:59:27 PM

I'm going to give them a couple more days to clear this up. At the bare minimum they need to acknowledge clearly that one party of people were able to acquire safecoins significantly cheaper than the other party of people at the same time. Thus causing BTC investors to realise an instant loss.

Instant loss?  I invested via BTC and I still have all my maidsafecoin.  I've experienced zero loss.
591  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Compairing price paid by BTC and MSC Backers of Maidsafe IPO on: April 28, 2014, 12:05:23 PM
Compairing the price paid by BTC and MSC Backers of Maidsafe IPO I find Out this:

I think MaidSafe team should take action and Pay to BTC Backers more Bonus to cover this unfair IPO, Period.

This cannot be said enough times.

Anyone who invested in Maidsafe with bitcoins (which is what they actually wanted) got screwed.. I think they will want to adjust this somehow if they want to keep their BTC investors happy, even more so since it was bitcoins they were after, not mastercoins.

I invested with BTC and I don't feel I got screwed.  A screwing would be if they didn't keep their end of the deal.  They kept their end of the deal and more.

You have to get over yourself.  In life, some people, some times, will have an advantage over you.  That is the real world.  If you're feeling screwed now, you're really going to feel screwed when safecoins are 50x the price they are at present.

You should be evaluating and buying safecoins on their own merit, not on the basis of what someone else paid for them.

Sounds to me like you're trying to do a short-term flip and now can't.  If you were looking at this as a longer-term investment you would be welcoming these cheap maidsafecoins as a way to build your investment.

Thanks for the message dirvine. I know it's a message to the wider community and not just a response to me. I need to do some calculations before I comment further.

Not sure what you mean by "fair".  I'm pretty sure you weren't forced by the government or anyone else to engage in a safecoin purchase.

Your decision to buy shouldn't depend on what other people are getting in at.  It should depend on whether or not this is a sensible financial transaction for you.

Just because some people got into bitcoin at 5 cents is it somehow unfair (or a poor investment) to buy now at $450?

If people are buying bitcoin at 5 cents right now whilst others are buying them $450, then obviously that is a problem. Well, I say obviously...

And according to you, something can only be unfair if it involves coercion?  Cheesy I'm not even replying to that.
Often when people use the word "unfair" on this forum they carry with it some sense of entitlement and having been 'wronged', which is a completely bogus attitude.  If you were merely stating that different people were treated differently, then I apologize.  Of course they were.  In a truly free market this will happen all the time.

Guys, I have a question.

A lot of people are saying that coin kite is responsible for helping boost bc price... I'm unsure of what the site does in it's entirety other than help process payments with a select few currencies. It's understandable if its HELPED, but bc has rocketed, are people trying to say that coinkite is solely responsible for such a shift in price? I know they are also open to AUR as one of the currencies they want to integrate but require the community support in order to do so, and I believe that what that means is effectively donation support. I checked the public wallet address they are asking for donations in to and so far there is maybe 150 or so. Any ideas or thoughts on coin kite from anyone (who isnt involved with it) and any information from anyone who held BC as to whether coinkite was responsible for helping the price rise and why?

I don't think CoinKite had much to do with it.  Moolah.io has supported Auroracoin from before the launch with similar products (although not the POS machine).
What's moolah? Oh, a website ranked 300k+ on Alexa. They delisted BC, because, they said:

"BC doesn't have enough volume on our website"

Moolah is air.

Alexa is telling me moolah.io has a rank of 159,406... and outranks coinkite.com in the USA 35,717 to 68,651.

595  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: no maidsafe/safecoin bitcoin IPO address yet? on: April 22, 2014, 12:12:53 PM
Quite embarrassing.  Even the safecoin.io website was off by an hour.

So we're in good company!  Cheesy

Largest single transaction so far is for 902.30406 BTC.  Don't know the largest on the Mastercoin side.

Thanks for your kindness. Maybe we need a more accurate word rather than “IPO” to describe the fundraising stuff.

I'm suspicious the OP is really a member of the maidsafe team.

This looks to be a much more authentic spokesman for MaidSafe: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=116788

No maidsafe/safecoin bitcoin IPO address yet?  Or am I just not seeing it?  Not an auspicious start to this IPO.
