It's nice to hear that someone is taking the reins on this coin.

However, I think it still suffers from the main problem it's had since the beginning, which is a lack of trasparency in the airdrop distribution.  Baldur has appeared to act in a trustworthy manner, but it is not ideal to have to trust a single, unknown entity.  Surely there would have been someone in the cryptocurrency community that is both well-known/trusted and would have been willing to preserve Baldur's anonymity who could have overseen or at least audited the airdrop.

Hi Omnivion,

This is something I've been puzzling on for quit some time now. To be honest, I would love to see some transparency on the part of the airdrop distribution, I even know Balduro wants this as well.

Problem is, who can publicly act as a trustee (well-known/trusted) and stay safe from Bankers, Government and other criminals? You know, crypto is for a very large part about getting control back to the public, without entities overruling that control.

So, if we were to find a well-known and trusted person, he or she must be willing to take a very large chance of being pursued by forces with bad intentions. This is why, to me, it seems rather logical that this hasn't been done yet

For now, Balduro has shown to be very legit and trustworthy. Mind you, he could have run off with millions at the time the rate of AUR was beyond believe. He didn't...

For now, to me, Baldur is the perfect keeper of the airdrop stack, he is the most trustworthy and capable, anonymous, person to do this job.

Meanwhile, it's up to us to get things going. With Joiblumen and his great team of Icelandic enthousiast on the roll, we can try to help them. This is in the interest of general acceptance of crypto!

For this coin to succeed there will have to be developers and advocates that can speak publicly, without fearing what will happen to them if they come out in support of it. Anonymity isn't doing this coin any favors right now, that's for sure

And that's where people like Joiblumen and Jérôme come in my friend. I won't even be surprised if Balduro will take the stage as well at some point, only you would probably not know it was him ;-)

A fool will just look at the finger, even if it points to paradise!

Transactions last 24h    296
Transactions avg. per hour    12

The average transaction rate is awful...

But the amazing fact was this one:
Avg. transaction value (last 24h)    2,490 AUR ($429.26 USD)

And the culprit:

Seems like a large bagholder is moving his coins

I am highly paying attention to phcoin more than this coin now.

I see why aurora coin died after distribution as phcoin's distribution is a business model by providing a foundation
for the Philippines freelancers, and freelancers all over the world to join the advancement of crypto related projects

I support Magi the first anti-botnet mining network to give regular miners the fair chance of mining. Talk to #Magi on IRC: https://kiwiirc.com/client/irc.freenode.net/#magi or on BitcoinTalk: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=735170.0

Cryptoman this whole community is focused on quick hype and pump and dump... I am just stating what I saw with Auroracoin and the problems that came about because it was just a hype of 'airdrop' which means nothing until this day.   There is others out there who isn't focused on quick buck profit dumping games, and I recommend others avoiding this by sticking with something that 'means' something at the end of the day.

Guys... Sorry if I'm too noob to this thing, but...
There's already a GLOBAL coin for everyone, called bitcoin.
There's another GLOBAL one which is different in its algorhythm, called litecoin.

These are GLOBAL coins. Everyone in the world can use them.
So why do you try to LIMIT a coin to a country AT ALL? It's like you wanted to regulate it, just like governments try to do. Even your people can't understand not to sell them just after receiving them.
What's the use of creating all kinds of more global coins at all? They're all targets for speculators, nothing more.

We already have the solution for the whole world's problem, and it's called bitcoin. (and maybe litecoin)

Try to obtain bitcoin or litecoin while living in Iceland.

What are the target dates for the second and third phases of the airdrop?

Has anyone been in contact with Baldur recently?

Additionally, is anyone else doing research into solutions for network security once the airdrop is complete?

After undistributed coins are burned, checkpointing will be the last remaining point of centralization.  If the idea is to have a distributed network, such checkpointing is undesirable.

I suggest that subsequent to all airdrop activities, AuroraCoin be ported to Ethereum to live as a contract (or series of contracts).  This would remove vulnerabilities that stem from the network's low hashrate while also providing greater decentralization than the current checkpointed system.

Without this or a similar change, the AuroraCoin network will remain vulnerable and centralized in perpetuity.

I choose AUR, because the loss of value is a result of the free market. The loss of value of the krona is a result of central authority decisions.

Anyone know who was buying last night? Price did skyrocket!

Wouldn't call that skyrocket...more like a failed pump.

Price was before around 20000 and now the support is at max 26 000.
Indeed the volume was amazing for the coin at this stage but it's far from what it was months ago.

The respectable Media is talking about Aurora http://www.bbc.com/news/business-27867781
It's the good fundamental signal, at least you have to look after this coin....

The krona has halved in value since the banking crisis of 2008
Auroracoin has lost 99.9%  of it's value since March.

What to choose ,  what to choose?

I choose AUR, because the loss of value is a result of the free market. The loss of value of the krona is a result of central authority decisions.

So you can be poor but morally superior?

I would chose what my stomach wants.
And sincerely I doubt that anybody would give a if the krona is manipulated by the government when they buy food for their family.

Unfortunately , no altcoin has a value decided by the "free market".
It's just bag holders playing in virtual exchanges.
