Yeah, 'Restoration Hardware' is probably not for you.  However, I guess technically speaking you'd meet the strict definition of 'restoration' if you are taking 10 quid junk off your friends and reusing it.  Restoration Hardware has a different gig going on though.
582  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Robocoin rocks on: September 17, 2014, 09:36:48 PM
I am here to tell you, Robocoin ATM rocks.  I took a few mining bitcoins to my local Robocoin.  Holy crap, when I saw those hundreds pop out I was impressed.  I recommend you try one today.

@kncminer And what happens to the GHs not sold ? https://www.kncminer.com/pages/faq  "We will not mine with more than 5% of the hash rate we sell"

I know that you are not expecting a reply from KnC so I will try to answer you. Technically once they sell the hashrate they don't mine with it so they are within that statement.

Of course there is mining that is happening since Feb/March, but they don't care. FU Sam Cole and FU whole KnC team (except maybe Markus).
This is bullshit.  They still mine.  But they take the proceeds of that mining and resell it for their benefit.  That is mining.  They are totally outside the scope of their statement.  It is an outrage.

KnC has now removed the 5% promise from their FAQ page.  I guess they think this means the promise no longer applies?  Did their promise to not mine more than 5% somehow get revoked?  What if we as customers/suckers believed they would hold to this promise and we relied upon that assurance when we made our decision to purchase their mining gear?  They think it is OK to go back on that promise now?

584  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Ice cigs now takes bitcoin!!! on: September 02, 2014, 03:41:36 PM

Nice to find a new place to spend my bitcoin Smiley
I think they are going to be on display at Inside Bitcoins in Las Vegas

They don't even try to figure things out.  This reporter should be fired and sent straight to McDonalds for a long career in burger flipping.

So how much is the final compensation? $1500?

Since you clearly aren't one of their customers ('cause then you'd know), the answer to your question is:

None of your business.

You should ask him about his AM dividends...

Anyone who invested in AM has already been paid back their original investment of 0.1 six times over. Has anyone who bought a spondoolies product even turned a profit yet?

The reason I want to know the final compensation is because it will influence my opinion on how the company handles a major fuckup and whether I will consider buying from them in the future.

I must ask, how can you have absolutely no shame? You sold ~200 overpriced miners which will never turn a profit (unless your SP-tech) and you deem it a huge success.

I think that even the slow-corner ASICs of our first batch are currently the most power efficient in the market and one of the most competitive in $/Gh. That is impressive fuckup I would say. Don't bother answering since you been added to ignore list.
I think the Neptune is more efficient isn't it?
587  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: August 25, 2014, 10:30:14 PM
Where did KnC ever say they'd only mine 5% of the equipment they sold?  Did they really say this?  I can't see anything which says that/

The promise is still on the website.

Why are you selling the Miners and don’t mine yourself (will you use the miners for mining yourself)? ▾

We are mining ourselves, but we believe in the bitcoin project and a diversified market is the best for all parties. We will continue to mine but we do not believe in a monopoly of miners. We will not mine with more than 5% of the hash rate we sell, and we will never mine with customer hardware.

It seems to me they are likely exceeding this.  Can you think of a way to show that they are doing more than 5% of what they sold?

589  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcoin 2.0 on: August 22, 2014, 08:54:57 PM
Please tell us when we can call something bitcoin 2.0 according to your definition.
Easy, when it is a new and improved version of the actual Bitcoin protocol - as anyone and everyone would expect it to mean.  We are using the first version of the Bitcoin protocol (1.0) when the next version of the protocol is released that would be called "Bitcoin 2.0"

I wanted to add something here:

It will be Bitcoin 2.0 when it is an improved version of the Bitcoin 1.0 protocol and my Bitcoin 1.0 BTC can be seamlessly and effortlessly converted (or duplicated) into the new version 2.0 BTC in a fair and transparent way (see Peter's proposal).

We are actually not using Bitcoin 1.0 yet.  We are still in Beta.  Actually, 0.9.2.1  So if you must be a fucking pedant - then go with that definition.  However, to nearly everyone else 'Bitcoin 2.0' simply refers to the general area of an extended Bitcoin.

WTF do you think 'Web 2.0' means?  Why don't you Google that to learn what the common meaning of the '2.0' extension is?

Your very strict definition is just plain dumb.

Everyone except you understands what 'Web 2.0' and 'Bitcoin 2.0' is intended to mean.

Maybe we should start calling it: "Bitcoin Plus"

590  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcoin 2.0 on: August 22, 2014, 08:00:24 PM
There is nothing that can properly be called "Bitcoin 2.0", yet.  Nothing.
...by your definition which reigns supreme over all others?  Please tell us when we can call something bitcoin 2.0 according to your definition.

By other peoples definition, colored coins, Mastercoin, Counterparty, et cetera, which are not new coins, but rather extensions of the standard bitcoin protocol to enable new interesting functionality - is Bitcoin 2.0.

But somehow BurtW wants to tell everyone what they can and can't call things.  Burt the head arbiter of the dictionary.  WTF?

Bitcoin 2.0 is a very interesting new space.  It will be quite popular in about 1 more year.

Good idea to add section of btc2.0 to that forum. Can you give some information about btc2.0?Huh

Well, the very beginning of this started with JR Willet's white paper.  Maybe you should start there.
591  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcoin 2.0 on: August 22, 2014, 07:11:34 PM
What is BTC 2.0? Can you link me to article/thread?
Nxt coin, master coin, ethereum, swarm etc.

And yes it is not fair to categorize these as 'alt coins'.  They are so much more than that

These coins are nothing but gimmicks, Bitcoin is the real deal, deal with it  Cool
It is remarkable how few people understand what Bitcoin 2.0 is.  It doesn't replace Bitcoin at all.  For example, Mastercoin merely extends the functionality of Bitcoin.  Bitcoin blockchain, bitcoin mining, it is still bitcoin.  It is just bitcoin with some added features.

All altcoins can burn in hell.  Pure garbage.  Litecoin, Dogecoin = dumb as hell.

Bitcoin is the only coin.  But Mastercoin is Bitcoin on steroids and is nothing like an Alt coin.

Maybe if the admins didn't try to suppress this, more people would understand what bitcoin 2.0. is.

It's quite weird to see that how the MSC founder made millions by delivering an unfulfilled promise, while now he is happily looking to re-buy his stash at below IPO price = at a loss for the people that trusted his project.
'weird'?  Its not weird.  Buy low, sell high.  Everyone knows that.  JR is just a lot smarter than you.

Don't worry, next year you'll be complaining about how you weren't able to buy at .01 because mean ol' JR was hogging up all the MSC in his repurchase.  You don't think we've seen your type before?  Cry, cry, cry.

Just go by some cheap MSC, hold them, and STFU.  Stop crying.
593  Other / Meta / Bitcoin 2.0 on: August 22, 2014, 04:34:08 PM
Bitcoin 2.0 is quite different from 'altcoins'. Shouldn't this forum have a category 'Bitcoin 2.0' for all those projects?  It is VERY hard to find posts related to the Bitcoin 2.0 concept as they forever lost in the trash that is 'Altcoins'.  What gives?

C'mon Theymos - organize the site in a way which is most useful to the readers.  Maybe the management here has something against Bitcoin 2.0 world?  Weird.
594  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - carrier grade, data center ready mining rigs on: August 14, 2014, 07:21:10 PM
For planning purposes ... Can you tell us what order number you are currently shipping and when you expect to ship the balance of the Aug GB units?

Suggestion:  In the order status, how about putting an "anticipated ship date"
or something on the website, "currently shipping order #"
I really like this.  Why don't we have a counter: 124/1200 out the door on 08/15/14

Is there any official date for when the RoadStress group buy units are shipping to the hosting facility?

I understand how painful it is to wait for ordered miners, but I am sure spondoolies is producing a quality product as fast as possible.
We all appreciate this thanks.  However, that doesn't preclude them from publishing some estimations about where they are and where they expect to be at the end of the week.  We are trying to make serious plans which are contingent upon these arriving.  Open ended: after Aug 15th really screws our ability to operate with efficiency.  ST knows when that group buy will begin to ship and approximately how many units per week are possible.  Thus, they could be giving some pretty good guesses now as to where we all are.

Silence is KnC's trademark.  ST doesn't need to use their playbook.

Let have some progress reports - even if they are not 100%

Our margins are REALLY thin.  In part this is due to a reduced hash rate.  Careful planning is essential to squeeze out a tiny profit.  I'll miss this tiny profit if I don't have the information which ST clearly knows.  Why can't they just give us a better update on where we are and where we expect to be at the end of the next week?  I'll end up paying an extra month rent if I don't get this right.

Five days - no posts in this forum.  I guess the management wants to let MSC community drift away for good.  Weird.

Is there any news on the third gen miners? When do you think they will be taped out? Are you still targeting late 2014 for release?
They are still targeting late 2014 for release of the SP30.  Give them some space to work.  We can start talking about gen 3 after gen 2 is released in earnest.
597  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - carrier grade, data center ready mining rigs on: August 13, 2014, 03:09:36 PM
I have free energy around 10kw/h so I can order some ants for september

you dont want to underestimate the amount of Ph that will be added to the network nor the difficulty.. one month is eternity in bitcoin. plus S3+ are just what S3 were supposed to do initially. complete BS. you can see manufacturers are having a hard time, competition is ramping up and they prefer solomine whilst also presaling these miners.. bad business practices.. bad bad bad..
My S3s that I bought just for fun all do 475 and most do 500GH stable 24/7.

SP30 is probably still the better deal though.

My S3s are steady state - but not so high as yours.  Did you change the clock?  I am running stock so far.  I average about 440.  The only time they didn't perform well is during a power outage in our building.  They totally suck during those situations.
598  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - carrier grade, data center ready mining rigs on: August 13, 2014, 03:08:18 PM
When does the Gb start shipping?

I read on here after August 15th....we will see

Searing

I read on here after August 11th.  But then again, August 15th is after August 11th.  In fact nearly every possible shipping day is after August 15th so that is a safe bet.

Meanwhile, here is an SP30 working away at 4.4TH (his little brother SP10 is also on the same address). http://eligius.st/~wizkid057/newstats/userstats.php/1PHoAANpMqnFU76BLNu8EgXVUTKF5X1zXh
599  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - carrier grade, data center ready mining rigs on: August 12, 2014, 08:15:31 PM
The three from my customer are capped at 1100W, as per Zvi's recommendations. They're each hashing stably at around 3950 GH/s. Currently, I'm seeing 3923.69 GH/s, 3951.675 GH/s, and 3982.555 GH/s. These three are all running 2.2.35.

This simply isn't the advertised (after adjustment) 4.5TH.  WTF?  Is spondoolies trying to lower the rate still further?  6.5Th -> 6.0TH -> 5.5TH -> 4.5Th -> 4.0TH.  Where does this stop?

4 is about 60% of 6.5.  That sucks tremendously.  That is not a simple engineering estimation error.  That is a major defect.
600  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - carrier grade, data center ready mining rigs on: August 12, 2014, 07:49:19 PM
No, the lab is in Israel. I am actually flying on a 3 day vacation tonight, but we will check this. It's in our interest to provide as much hashing as possible to every voltage.

The equipment hashes 25% less than expected, consumes 30% more than expected, promised units not yet delivered - what to do next?  ...go on a 3 day vacation!

I wouldn't advertise that.  People waiting are going crazy while the lead guy sits on the beach blowing dope and drinking vodka.
