Keyser/Bill, You're a sensible sort. What do you think of Jorge's proposal?
I wouldn't rely on me for sense. I just call bullshit when I see it. It makes me a bit of a contrarian because the world is 87.08% bullshit. That includes Jorge's proposal for an Investment Club which sounds more like the birth cry of a brand spanking new scam. But such a thing could never happen here, of course. ... I'm a bit crook today (that's Australian for sick).
i find this kind of stuff neato. Thx for sharing!

Can you tell me the names of the known people who own 6mil bitcoins together? or even 2mil? or 1mil?
Net says that Satoshi owns 1 M pre-mined BTC, perhaps other "founding fathers" too? Although of course they are not "known people". Bitcoins are pre-mined now, Mr Stanford educated computer scientist? Get thee to the developer forum, go! I'm tempted to email Mr. Stolfi at his University address and let him know there's someone here impersonating him who can't perform high school level research. The imposter is tarnishing what reputation Stolfi might have had outside this forum.

Anyone fancy a go at a MtGox/Karpeles haiku?

Its a weird one isn't it....you used to stoke fires or maybe engines, perhaps idiomatically you cold stoke an argument...but the word needed an object. Used as adjectively it is a bit strange. (I imagine the contemporary response to this is "whatever") "In the parlance of our times" she used it correctly, dude, at least as far as I've heard it. I seem to recall it's in the movie Valley Girl. Also some surfer acquaintances of mine used it in college often. My offhand etymology guess on the surfer/valley girl usage would be: I'm excited -> I'm all fired up -> I'm stoked. Looking online it appears to have entered surfer slang @1963.

Because in a very weird way Gox has created the perfect gambling web site. People see the undervalued or overvalued price and with the same rush of adrenalin they get as a "fun" trip to Vegas, they throw their money in with hopes to take advantage of the "game" even if they may very well lose everything.
You could be on to something here.

This is just their bi-annual bitcoin sale. Hey, great idea here: Mark should do a cheesy used car sale TV commercial for Gox. "Mt. Gox is blowing Bitcoins outta the door with our special members-only pricing!" Then the mile-a-minute disclaimer at the end: "Subject to availability. Offer not valid in some countries. Purchased Bitcoins should be available in 2 weeks."

Huobi taking the lead again, Bitstamp following, Mtgox dead.
Gox is dead? It looks like they could be #1 again soon in volume. They also have the best price: http://bitcoincharts.com/markets/

There is technical analysis creating bitcoin forecasts that work well
That is, if "well" equals flipping a coin over time.

Good morning gentlemen. I see the market believed MtGox's slightly rephrased "2 weeks" message.
I believe they have a patent on that "2 weeks" response.

The thing is, it is not Gox's money to control. It belongs to the people whose accounts it is credited to. To maintain confidence, Gox should be doing everything they can to allow people to access their money. They're not.
I've heard this exact argument about today's banks. Funny...

Thursday update: we have successfully downloaded half the block chain.
But ran out of disk space. We have a new hard drive on order from Newegg. Perhaps they've been storing the blockchain on a series of 1.44MB floppy diskettes. It is taking a team of people to continually swap them and unwrap the cellophane from new boxes of diskettes. Then they have to label them: 1 of 5,555, etc.

I cannot believe stamp is just following gox like this. This is pissing me off. I thought this was over.
Even Stamp knows Gox is still the King.

That' why everybody should come here only full of beer.
Oh... you said full of beer. I misheard you.

Yeah but letting this happen on his exchange is killing the last shreds of respect people might have for Gox. He should freeze everything right now and then make a clear, honest statement whenever he is ready.
Stop making sense. People complain when he freezes trading. People complain when he doesn't. People complain when he stops deposits/withdrawals. People complain when he doesn't.

Who is MP that keeps getting mentioned?
Mircea Popescu (and arguable alter-ego user MPOE-PR).

I'm buying with both hands on gox, we should cheer Mark for gifting us these very cheap bitcoins.
