581  Economy / Economics / Re: Gambling with China and US on: February 15, 2022, 05:39:17 PM
Recently the US Secretary of State zoomed to Fiji Island to have discussion with Pacific Island Leaders. The last time such visit happened was 37 years ago. His sole aim is to counter China's influence in that region.

America and the "Quad" are scared that China's aggressive business partnership, infrastructural loans and politically interference in the Pacific will make them loose a strategic partner.

The leaders of the Pacific should cease this opportunity and get the best economic deal. Since both China and US wants their partnership, these leader should consider the offers from both parties and secure the best deal. I am sure the Chinese would visit immediately after the American Secretary leaves the Pacific.

Whatever they choose, they will end up the losing side, because you can bet your ass the US or China are not going to lose, everyone else is just a pawn in their games. But it seems to me that the US has less and less to offer, so I wouldn't be surprised if China took this one, as they are doing in African countries.
582  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: India's confusing crypto bill on: February 15, 2022, 04:47:32 PM
Recently India has passed a crypto bill to tax crypto income by 30% but at the same time claiming that taxing cryptos doesn't make them legal and states it's country's sovereign right to tax crypto and this atrocity doesn't stop here as they have mentioned that the decision about banning crypto or legalizing it will taken after further consultation.

Can they tax something which is not legal? How can a country tax something which is not legal? Moreover they still have plans of banning crypto since they are not clear about their stands on legalization. Not sure if it's an attempt to unofficially break the crypto market in India or what's going on.

Share your thoughts on this.

Seems that in India everything is possible. So basically you won't be stopped from doing illegal things, you will only be taxed for them. But I wonder if that actually turns the tide in favor of crypto when the government sees that they could be getting some additional funds from the taxation. It might not seem much, but then again, India has a lot of people, so that could add up to quite a sum. But then again, governments around the world are constantly shifting their opinions on crypto, so who knows how this will turn out.
583  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: When your freedom is taken, bitcoin and crypto is the solution! on: February 15, 2022, 11:08:37 AM
There have been numerous discussions on the forum regarding this, and I can't help but emphasize that BTC and Crypto can not be a solution to underlying economic and social problems. It's like that meme where a guy is putting a bandaid on a leaking water tank. BTC and Crypto should be considered as supplementation to a modern economy and a chance for average people to level the playing field a bit regarding the discrepancy between the haves and the haves not. The issues of modern societies and monetary systems are still something that needs to be addressed on it's own, and there is no one simple solution to any of them.
584  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🥊 The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: February 15, 2022, 11:02:42 AM
~
Tuivasa didn't take his first fights in the UFC seriously.

After his 3rd straight loss to Sergey Spivak, Tuivasa realized he needed to make a change and trained at American Kickboxing Academy in california. Apparently making that change and seeing many talented fighters in the gym everyday was what he needed to get motivated.
Tai Tuivasa just blew my mind with his performance. He was a fun loving guy but after seeing him loose three fights in a row, i thought he will not reach a title shot but he was improving after that he took his career seriously and i know he was knocking out his opponents but Derrick Lewis is a step up in competition.

Derrick Lewis surprised with his take downs which i never thought he would try and in the second round they stood and banged as promised and Tai Tuivasa knocked out Derrick Lewis Shocked.

Derek Brunson and Jared Cannonier was a crazy fight. Derek Brunson dominated the first round with his takedowns but in the second round Jared Cannonier knocked the sense out of him and that elbow strikes on the ground were nasty even the corner threw the towel.

Now time for the main event. I am expecting another great fight.

Tai Tuivasa used to train with Mark Hunt with both being native australians. Mark Hunt said Tai Tuivasa hits the hardest out of everyone he fought or trained with.

Brunson might have squeezed with 100% effort to finish that choke in round 1 and gased his arms out.

Not certain what happened to Adesanya after a dominant round 1. It looked like a few of Izzy's kicks hit Robert Whittaker on the point of the elbow. That could have hurt Adesanya and discouraged him from throwing more leg kicks.

There is also bellator 274 this week.   Grin

There is no denying that Tuivasa hits hard and can take a punch, and even tho that can be a big factor in the HW division, I can't help but wonder how it will play out when coupled with a grappler, I remember Hunto not doing so well when on his back. Maybe Tuivasa can be considered a new generation of those types of fighters, so he will have much more to offer in the grappling department.

Also, there is a dedicated thread for Bellator and all other promotions that are not UFC, so feel free to join us there Smiley

585  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Signature campaign earnings and monthly income. on: February 14, 2022, 09:03:40 PM
-Will you quit your job if in a month, you earn more from signature campaign than you do get from working 8am - 4pm?

-Is it okay to hinge your life on the earnings you get weekly from your signature campaigns?

-Has the existence of signature campaigns on this forum eliminated the need to work offline for other people?

I don't think it eliminated the need to work offline, and that basically answers all of the above questions. Sig campaigns should be viewed as a nice supplementation to forum activities and what the forum is actually about, and in that way, it should also be viewed as supplementation to your earnings outside of crypto. If there is no reason to put all of your eggs into one basket, then don't do it. Broaden your income possibilities as much as possible because there are no sure things, so best to maximize where possible.
586  Economy / Economics / Re: Just my own thoughts on: February 14, 2022, 07:34:45 PM
Bitcoin is fully decentralized which is why I think it doesn't have to compete with Fiat at all, those who needs the decentralized idea should just keep using BTC as it is, we all know that CBDC will run on the blockchain too but in centralised form so where thus this leave Bitcoin?

You are completely right, it doesn't need to compete with FIAT. No crypto should compete with FIAT. It has to exist in its own universe, and coexist with FIAT as just another option out there. The only thing crypto is competing with itself and its growing base of users. And it has to tackle the issue of government regulations and adoptions. FIAT is the least of its worries.
587  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Weakens at US$ 42,145.35 The Impact of Russia's Conflict with Ukraine on: February 14, 2022, 07:01:01 PM
investors focus on the conflict between Russia and Ukraine that has the potential for a Third World War. In addition, there is speculation that the Fed will be hawkish in making the transition to tightening monetary policy, thereby reducing liquidity to the crypto market.

"That was before PBS reported that the United States believed that Russian leader Vladimir Putin had decided to attack Ukraine and had communicated the plan to the Russian military," Ibrahim said in a written statement on Monday, February 14, 2022.

is this the main problem with bitcoin's current decline?
Or is it just FUD about this war?

Source: my country's local news

It's definitely not the main issue, it's just A issue. The market responds to numerous factors that all add up, and we also need to take into consideration that the crypto market was predicted to have a downward trajectory around this time. So I wouldn't point the finger on any one thing. Would an all-out war have an impact on all finances not just crypto, yes it would, but we, fortunately, haven't come to that.
588  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: My Advices On How to Handle Failures on: February 13, 2022, 08:19:00 AM
There is no definitive way to handle failures, and there is actually no definitive way to categorize what a failure is, as that is differently defined from person to person. The common denominator to all people is that failures are a part of life, that they happen more often than success, and that they should be considered as a learning tool. Only through trial and error has the human species been able to evolve (and every other species on earth) Your advice is solid and everyone should have that in mind.
589  Economy / Economics / Re: Your opinion on side jobs on: February 13, 2022, 08:11:09 AM
Side job vs the main job is not a matter of earnings but priority. What of those two you prioritize, what of those two dominates most of your working day, and for what of those two would pose an issue if you lost them. It's also a question of time because stability over time is also an issue. So all of those factors determine what an individual considers to be their main job vs a side hustle. I have also seen some examples where people clearly had two main jobs, and also situations where people had multiple side jobs but no main one (regarding the criteria I mentioned above).
590  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin doesn't have a bright future anymore on: February 13, 2022, 08:02:25 AM
Those numbers you presented are actually a case for a bright future. Unrealistic gains are not the purpose of all of this, and technological innovation is constantly coming from crypto camps, so if BTC does stagnate a bit, that's not a problem because there are a lot more interesting options in the crypto-verse. I don't think BTC has anything to offer anymore besides a store of value, but that's still a good investment. And there is room for everyone to coexist, with its own set of values, fans and uses.

And the full results are in

Really sad for Bobby Knuckles, it seems that he can forget being a champ as long as Adesanya is in the division. Bobby is a year younger than Adesanya but has more mileage with tough opponents, so I doubt he will see Izzy stepping down while in his prime. I don't know who's left in the division for him to fight, except the champ, and he will not be getting a third shot just like that, I imagine Cannonier getting that title fight next, and if he loses then we might see a rematch between Whittaker and Cannonier.

See, I told you Tai Zuivasa is gonna be the next champ Cheesy

Arlovski on a mini winning streak?
592  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bull Run in Bitcoin on: February 11, 2022, 12:30:27 PM
In 2013 we had a bull run but at that time bitcoin was not known to me. I myself saw the 2017 bitcoin bull run and then we had a massive altcoin bull run. We were expecting the same to happen in 2021 but it did not happen. Some people say that bull run is delayed and some say that next bull run will be after the next halving in 2024.

I sometimes think that bitcoin and crypto market are now matured and we may not see extended bull or bear runs. Bitcoin will reach a hunderd thousand dollars or more but it won't be a parabolic move. What are your thoughts on this ?

You are right on it maturing, but not to the point where there won't be any ''bull runs'', but those that occur will have far less of an impact on the investors than the ones before. The market is constantly readjusting itself, and even tho there are some arguments to be made for it following the same model as it did in earlier cycles (but a bit less drastic), we can't really be sure, as a constantly changing market is not something you can really predict. Corrections to the market will definitely be present, especially with such huge jumps, like those we saw in the previous year, but as far as predicting anything, I think that's more or less a coin toss. Major societal changes could result in spikes, for instance, a less strict governmental approach to crypto, fewer taxes (less taxation on digital assets) so I'd say, with all of the changes going on, both technological and societal, it's not really certain that we can abide by the cycles of the past.
593  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: I finally find my way to this forum on: February 11, 2022, 09:13:39 AM
Welcome to our little part of the universe Smiley My advice is that you take your time and get to know how the forum works, go through some valuable posts in categories that you find interesting, and be sure to frequently visit the scams and acquisitions thread as it's invaluable info for any new investor (or anyone new on the forum like yourself). Disregard the low-quality posts, they are everywhere, don't even engage with those, just focus on learning as much as possible. And if you find some topic you are really passionate about, get in it and be a frequent contributor. And don't be afraid to ask questions.
594  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Religion in our society on: February 11, 2022, 08:59:22 AM
Religion practitioners are not exempt from doing awful things to others, as seen time and time again. So even full-on devotion to religion would not suddenly and magically lower crime rates. That's because in the real world we can compartmentalize, separating personal beliefs from other agendas. Religion as a set of moral guidelines is a fine concept, but religion itself did not invent those moral concepts, it merely embraced them as an addition to its beliefs (there are distinct separation between religion in terms of spirituality and in terms of morality), so the question is, why even have religion for morality if those concepts can come outside of religion. I do not need someone frightening me into being a moral person by invoking eternal damnation if not done in such and such manner. If I am not, as a person, able to come to grips with my societies morals, then my moral compass is off to begin with, and someone beating me with a stick over the head (religion) to abide by those moral standards will ultimately yield to nothing (as shown by many religious people doing amoral things).

Well, I don't blame you for mistaking them, all of those Samoan guys are huge so I would say that any of them can have weight problems at any event. But they are also tough as nails. I always wondered that maybe that inherent toughness was preventing them from technique improvements and different fighting styles, or maybe the lack of wrestling that is holding them back from really breaking out in those top 5's of their divisions.

Let's add their stamina if they could last long inside while performing wrestling with their opponent, and we all know that wrestling is tiring for most guys that are big on their build that is why I think that would be most of their problem, and guys like these tend to finish the fight mostly on the 1st or 2nd round because they can not hold a lasting fight of stamina, pretty much the same goes with Derrick Lewis, and Francis Ngannou, but from Ngannou's last fight with Ciryl Gane I think that Francis Ngannou has improved with his stamina that could now last the distance,

Stamina is an issue in HW as a whole. And yes, there were outliers like DC, but he came from a wrestling background and that gave him a good headstart on that front. Especially with that American Kickboxing dirty boxing/clinch strategy, just imagine someone that big leaning on you all the time, it just takes a lot out of you. Ngannou has improved drastically, I have to give him credit for that, he learned so much from the first Miočić fight, but also, his opposition was predominately willing to strike with him not giving him to worry much when it comes to wrestling or even clinching (Aside from a couple of tries here or there, and don't even get me started on Cain, he was waaaaaaaay over the hill when he fought Francis).
596  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: after 2140 on: February 10, 2022, 07:15:11 AM
I don't think BTC will make it to that date in this capacity, something would have to change. As I said before, we should consider BTC as a stepping stone, and better solutions might come in the future because of it. So it's very well possible that people might lose interest in BTC mining, with it remaining as a store of value. Just like gold. Not all gold is mined, nor is anyone trying to mine all of the gold, but It still has its place as a store of value. At least I hope it goes in that direction because otherwise, I am not sure into what can crypto evolve.
597  Economy / Economics / Re: Russia to make bitcoin a currency on: February 10, 2022, 07:01:44 AM
I am not surprised by their shift towards crypto (BTC). Not because BTC is that important to their economy, but because BTC and crypto are in a transition period and the sentiment is constantly shifting towards and forward. So even though Putin said it could be a good option, the sentiment could shift back again if something in their economy changes or they see a benefit in doing so. Bottom line is that BTC and crypto do not need mass government adoption right now, what it does need is to be left alone for a while, not baned. Adoption is the next step in evolution, but not right now.
598  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Man who lost 7500 bitcoin in a landfill asks gov't he wants to dig it up on: February 10, 2022, 06:41:37 AM
Everyone who is into bitcoin has heard this story before.
A guy cloned his hard drive and threw away the wrong drive in the trash and knows it was in a landfill site. Think they made a episode on the US sitcom series Big Bang Theory out of it.
But the story didn't end there as the person wants to have permission to excavate the site looking for this hard drive with over $275 million worth at today's price of bitcoin.

He is willing to give the city of Newport in the UK a cut of the bitcoin at a sum of $70 million so to be able to do this with approval of their local government.
This story has been run all around the globe at this point and has alot of people scratching their heads as to why he would need permission to rummage around a landfill site in garbage. Alot of countries allow those who want to go around their local trash site looking for pop cans for recycling or whatever they want to bring out of it. Since it is just garbage there.
https://www.cnbc.com/2021/01/15/uk-man-makes-last-ditch-effort-to-recover-lost-bitcoin-hard-drive.html

Call it the green initiate if you want but there are many who scavenge around in trash looking for those gems.
As they say: "One man's trash is another man's treasure!"

I say give him the scavenge rights and the rest he can pay from his own pocket. I doubt that even if he finds the hard drive he will be able to retrieve anything that is on there. And also, they should fine him for throwing a hard drive into regular trash and not recycling, as you do with electronic components Smiley The dude should just let this go. He made a mistake and he should own up to it. I mean, give him the rights and make a TV show about it, or a documentary, he could actually profit from that. I wouldn't put much hope in finding that hard drive mate, it's just fools gold.
599  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🥊 The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: February 10, 2022, 06:30:46 AM
13 wins and 12 by KO. Tuivasa looks dangerous, but he is 6-3 only in UFC. I would say lets see him first against someone against top5, and they come back to "dangerous man on earth " Grin Let first check how he feels against top on in a long fight.

I have confused Tuivasa and Tafa. Justin Tafa had weight problem and weigh more than HW limit allow. The reason I have confused them are their belly side quadriceps tattooes.

Tuivasa on the left, Tafa on the right.

600  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Library ? Or Internet ? on: February 09, 2022, 08:34:16 AM
Where do you think is best to get reliable information ?
Most people feel reluctant to spend time in the library and maybe not user friendly to them, although vital information can be gotten there.

The internet on the other side is fast, can be accessed at the same time by too many people, although hoarding of information is high up here,as well information given out may not be true.
I'd like to know more from your own perspective.

Both. I personally go for both. I mean, I don't just read scientific books, I also read fiction of all sorts, poetry, and whatnot, so sometimes the library offers much more in that sense. But I combine that with the internet and also audiobooks, so there's a little bit of everything. That way I can get the full scope of things without feeling some things being left out. I am not saying nonfiction books in the library are not biased, full of mistakes, or just outdated by today's standards, but the issue with the internet is that you will have to spend a lot of time sifting through all of the nonsense to get to what you might think is correct. So there is no this or that here, for a person to completely embrace knowledge, you have to use all of the tools available, in this case, both the internet and libraries.
