581  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What is the best IOS wallet? on: May 03, 2017, 02:12:53 PM
I've heard good things about BreadWallet on iOS so you may want to give that a try. I'm hoping Electrum ends up releasing an iOS wallet in the future.
582  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Lost acces to electrum wallet [bounty] on: May 03, 2017, 01:21:45 PM
Thanks for the input guys. i suppose this is end of the story.

How recently did you delete the file? If it was very recently, stop using the hard drive it was on as there may be a chance to recover the file with file recovery software.

I recommend having a look at photorec ( http://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/PhotoRec ). I've had success recovering files with this before. It is recommended to run this from a live CD or different hard drive so you don't write to the hard drive you are trying to recover from.

If we will show our face then there is no difference with playing in real casino and online, I prefer not to show my face because I'm not good in controlling my emotion. Actually I'm just still in the learning process though I know how to play it, right now I am more inclined with easier way of having fun which is playing dice.

Haha yeah, when you play live you gotta be careful not to give away too much information in your emotions and body language.

On a side note, BlackJack on BitDice is super addicting. Definitely beats BlackJack on other sites that I've tried in the past. Also most other casinos don't have provably fair BlackJack.

Then that password that they sent us is the key to run whats inside the file?

Yeah, it unencrypts the docx file which would allow it to run whatever malicious code is inside. Don't enter the password in or mess with the file. Just delete it is the safest course of action.
585  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Forgot Electrum Password, any help? on: May 03, 2017, 05:15:04 AM
Hi, I lost my electrum password, and was wondering if there is any way someone could use a dictionary attack or brute force attack for me. There isnt any BTC in the wallet, however i used the password for another important thing, so the password is just what im looking for. It is not a very strong password and I remember the whole thing except for a few characters/digits at the end. Im hoping someone will be generous enough to do this pro bono, as i really just need to figure out this password and dont really know what to do.

Yeah, I can give it a shot for you. PM me with the encrypted_key and salt info and what you think the password might be and I'll try to crack it for you.
586  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: restore of 12 word seed in Electrum 2.8.2 NOT POSSIBLE on: May 03, 2017, 05:11:17 AM
When I do that, my Balance is empty with no tracked txs.
I checked every word on the list for similar ones. There was only one that could actually be an other one, I replaced it, still didn't work. Very strange.

Do you know one of the addresses that should be in the wallet ? If so, try going to the console tab and running
Code:
ismine("ADDRESS")

If it says true you have the correct wallet and perhaps you might need to adjust the gap limit or something.

If you are unsure of one of the seed words, it should be possible to brute force it pretty easily if its only 1 of the words.
587  Other / Archival / Re: Warning! BTC-e Voucher Email phishing alert! on: May 02, 2017, 08:33:50 PM
So if i dont decrypt the file and just delete it, im safe?

Yeah, you should be. The file shouldn't be able to execute in its encrypted state afaik and I'm guessing the attacker encrypts it to avoid virus signature detection.
588  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum Dash Wallet, Please help. on: May 02, 2017, 06:14:08 PM
I can't find any support anywhere for the Electrum Dash Wallet.  The wallet will not let me send my Dash.  Here is what I get when I try:

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks!!!

This forum is only for the Bitcoin version of Electrum. You might want to try asking on https://github.com/dashpay/electrum-dash/ or within https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=421615.0
589  Other / Archival / Re: Warning! BTC-e Voucher Email phishing alert! on: May 02, 2017, 03:11:23 PM
I got one of these as well. I'm guessing this is due to some database compromise that leaked username/emails?
590  Economy / Economics / Re: Nobody Can Have Benefit From a Big Pump on: May 02, 2017, 02:52:07 AM
I don't think the exchanges would really have a reason to prevent you from selling your coins if you wanted to. The exchanges make their profits from fees on the trading so they are making money due to volume and the price doesn't really matter to them.
591  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Strange balance behavior in Poloneix on: May 02, 2017, 02:50:21 AM
Check out the Transfer Balances page at https://poloniex.com/transfers and it will list where exactly your funds are ( Exchange / Margin / Lending / etc ).

See if that page provides any extra information that might explain where the rest of your btc is.
592  Economy / Speculation / Re: $2000 anyone? on: May 02, 2017, 02:19:31 AM
2000$ will for sure happen.
The question is if we will see 10000$ soon
You can speculate as much as you want but in order to speculate you need to have some realistic chances,if the SEC approves ETF next month then we would see a good rally and with the price at an all time high ,i think a good couple of trading days could take the price closer to $2000 and if the ETF is approved then the growth of price will be immense.

I believe SEC approval of ETF will boost the price of BTC since new funds will come in, and then the other one that was rejected would also be reviewed and more likely with the same outcome.   Aside from that I read there is really a development of Bitcoin coming in this June.  This might boost bitcoin and even capture some of ETH markets.  And if ever this bull run continue, we can see $2000 in much earlier time.

Pretty sure the Bitcoin ETF was already rejected. Are you talking about the ETH ETF? I guess that would bring more fiat into cryptocoins in general but not sure how much it would really affect Bitcoin.
593  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][CLAM] CLAMs, Proof-Of-Chain, Proof-Of-Working-Stake, a.k.a. "Clamcoin" on: May 02, 2017, 02:14:03 AM
Is there anyway to clam clams from a mobile wallet?

Yes

You just need to be able to get to the .dat or the private key.

That's the issue. Mobile only provides encrypted key and no .dat so not able to find a compatible wallet

Which mobile wallet are you using? Each different wallet probably handles it differently but there is probably a way to recover the private keys for the addresses in some manner.
594  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: This transaction requires a higher fee, or it will not be propagated to network. on: May 02, 2017, 02:07:52 AM
I am working on test network using electrum.

Sometimes when I try to send BTC to other addresses, with some value of amount I get hit by an error:
This transaction requires a higher fee, or it will not be propagated to the network.

while other values work well.

For eg,
When I try to send 1mBTC I get an error, when I send 10 mBTC everything is good.
When I send 600mBTC it's good, when I send 645mBTC I get the same error.

The fee slider is to max and I have selected dynamic fee. What can I do to send 1 or 645 or other values of amount

What version of Electrum are you using? There was a bug in one of the older versions that caused the fees to not work correctly. Make sure you are running version 2.8.2 and see if that corrects the issue.
595  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum extra wallet on: May 02, 2017, 02:06:28 AM
Yeah, you would have had to set the password on that default_wallet, and it would have provided you the seed words. There is no Default password. Hopefully, you have those either of those or can remember your password so that you can recover your funds.

There are methods to brute force the password if you've forgotten it and have an idea what the password may be, but if you have no idea, it would be very tough to recover.
596  Economy / Speculation / Re: [UPDATE] $1,400 HIT (Next goal is $1,500) on: May 01, 2017, 06:51:17 PM
Yeah the differences in exchanges right now is pretty crazy with Bitfinex being way above all the others. I wouldn't use Bitfinex as a reliable gauge of the price though.

Bitstamp is sitting at 1408 and CoinBase shows $1455 so we are well on the way towards $1500 though.

598  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Compromised seed ? on: May 01, 2017, 04:46:39 AM
Most hardware wallets also have the option to create new accounts using a passphrase. The passphrase acts as an extra word for the seed. This is an interesting option as the addresses for the passphrase protected accounts can not be generated from the seed alone. In theory if you can remember a passphrase (and trust your memory) you can leave the seed in the open.

That doesn't seem like the best option to me. And if an attacker new that you used that method, it wouldn't be that hard to brute force an extra word on the seed.
599  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Is JSONRPC still supported? on: April 30, 2017, 11:31:18 PM
I been messing around with electrum and decided to try its jsonrpc. After setting up the daemon and run the curl command, it gives an server error after running it.

Code:
curl --data-binary '{"id":"curltext","method":"getbalance","params":[]}' http://127.0.0.1:7777
{"error": {"message": "Server error:   File \"/usr/lib/python2.7/site-packages/electrum/commands.py\", line 301, in getbalance | AttributeError: 'NoneType' object has no attribute 'get_balance'", "code": -32603}, "jsonrpc": "2.0", "id": "curltext"}

Does electrum still support this? The version im using is 2.8.2. Maybe im doing something wrong or maybe something broke between the version the doc used and now.

The function is get_balance with an underscore. Check out http://docs.electrum.org/en/latest/protocol.html for more information on the JSONRPC.

Edit: looks like that is actually for querying the balance of an individual address which is different than what you were attempting.
600  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Compromised seed ? on: April 30, 2017, 11:28:56 PM
The answer depends upon your level of paranoia.  Personally, if I ever had my SEED from a hardware wallet online I would re-initialize my hardware wallet, which creates a new wallet.  Then send my coins to the new hardware wallet.  NEVER place the hardware wallet SEED anywhere on ANY computer - not ever.  The advantage of a hardware wallet is that NO computer will ever see the SEED at any time, not even an offline computer.  I understand what you did perfectly.  When I started using my Trezors I too wanted to be certain that I could do a full restore without a Trezor present.  I was using Electrum and restored everything without any hitches.  The recovery is simple in fact, for anyone reading along here.  After confirming the process for myself on a small insignificant wallet amount, I then re-initialized my Trezors offline.  Never again will any SEED for one of my Trezors ever be placed on any computer.  Unless of course I need a restore without a Trezor.  This is my opinion.  Why would you use a hardware wallet with coins on it that has had the SEED on even a computer where you suspect its totally clean.  To me it defeats the one super big advantage of NO SEED EVER on a computer.  My .02!

I agree with the above. A hardware wallet's benefit is that the seed only remains on the hardware device and not on any PCs. By restoring the seed into Electrum, this is no longer true. Your best bet would be to create a new seed on the hardware wallet and send the coins to the new one to ensure the seed only remains on the hardware device.
