~ Snip ~

Very sad story, I tell people that the worst thing that can happen to anyone is being addicted to gambling or drugs because every efforts by your friends, families and other relatives to take you out of that situation will all prove abortive because even when you decide to quit due to advice and counsel that you have been given by people who truly care about you, a time will come when you will find yourself going back to those things again because addiction looks like something that is being mixed in the blood vessels such that it can never leave not matter how you try. I have seen a gambler empty everything in his house, sold his wife's dresses just to gamble even attempted to sell his house if not that his wife's family intervened the man would have been homeless so just like we keep advising ourselves here, never allow your gambling habits get to an uncontrollable state such that even when you don't want to continue, another part of you will advice you to continue.

Everton at no 16 and burnely at 19 in the premier league table, their today match is another game that has drawn my attention and curiosity, and all I could say is that it is going to be a hot match between the teams and not even to talk about their draw games in their previous matches on Tuesday 2nd of April, hence there is much possibility of today game between everton and burnely to end up a draw match, what are your intake on this?
Everton match against Burnley will sure be a tough match because Everton is not too comfortable in the 16th position and the other way round, Burnley is also looking for a way to come out of relegation area, and checking at the both teams most recent matches that was played during the weekdays, Burnley drew with Wolves while Everton drew with Newcastle united even when they played at away. The both teams looks equal in strength and if the match doesn't end in a draw, then it will be a narrow win from one among the two teams.

First of all, no organization fixes CCTV cameras without their staffs being aware so that in a case where a staff is caught doing unpleasant stuffs in the office, it can be traceable. Talking about privacy, it is only guaranteed at your most convenient private places and not in an establishment where everyone is at liberty to access wherever to want to within the scope of that environment of work.
We can't dispute the numerous aid technology has brought to mankind such that one can easily do anything even at your most convenient places however, the use of technology needs not to be abused because there are people in the society who uses this technology as a way to undue others which is very bad .
584  Economy / Speculation / Re: are you expecting Bitcoin to hit $400,000 after the bull run. on: April 06, 2024, 09:39:44 AM
I assume you are making a greedy speculation because the in flow in the market will determine it's price ATH in the market so speculating $400k after the bull run is not realistic, the speculation of $100k is the only likely achievable ATH of Bitcoin that we all are looking up to and not some kind of wild speculations.
585  Economy / Speculation / Re: Buy the DIP, and HODL! on: April 05, 2024, 06:21:57 AM
[edited out]
But at in a case where we feel we have too much of cash around in our emergency and reserves, would it be wise to put some into bitcoin when, let's say I'm having over a year of emergency funds and I feel I have too much of cash kept lieung around could I put at least 10% of that into bitcoin or keep or working for, like diversifying into some other asset ?

It seems that the more poor you are (and the fewer the investments that you have), the more important it is to both establish an emergency fund and also to maintain that emergency fund in cash rather than in any other assets.. especially the first at least 3 months of your living expenses.  The thing with richer folks is that they may well have several options, and sure there are a certain amount of rich folks who are not very liquid (meaning that they are not keeping very much of their wealth in cash), but richer folks are still more likely to have options between which asset to sell, so in that regard, they can choose what they believe to be the asset that they value the least, but they also might get stuck with having to sell an asset that is the most liquid to deal with their emergency.. and so I am not going to presume that rich people don't end up fucking up BIG time, but they do tend to have more resources available, and so a person who is not as rich will tend to have to be way more careful not to end up either recking himself or overly ending up; having to dip into their investment because of their failures to properly have enough reserves, and a lot of poor people never end up making hardly any progress in their getting themselves out of holes because they either fail to keep enough emergency funds and reserves (because they are getting too greedy trying to make sure all their capital is "working," and another major kind of mistake that they make will be to either not let their winners ride or to be dipping into their investment way too soon and not letting their investments compound... and surely either of those kinds of BIG mistakes can be made better through better use of emergency funds, and also maintaining and managing reserves and cashfloats.

Jay you are right on your definition of emergency funds management between the rich and the poor because we all know that a poor man is always anxious of his investments and due to the fact that they don't have much to take care of their daily needs, most of them don't choose long term investment because they cannot be patient enough to allow their investments to grow to a certain level due to fear and no regular source of income to always fund their investments and since they don't have much money coming in, having an emergency funds becomes necessary as that is what is only going to keep a poor investor who is determined to make long term investment because if they want to have chances of getting out of poverty then certain risk and decisions must be taken for there to be a positive change in them.

Though the rich are reckless about their investments due to the fact that they owned a lot of assets therefore they feel that anytime their investments is not having a head way they can easily sell an asset and awaken their investments but some other rich people who knows the usefulness of owing an asset doesn't become so reckless to the extent of selling them back because an asset that is sold may not be able to be recovered again except maybe you sold it and ventured into an investment that will yield fruit within the short interval so as to replace the sold asset and still have some good amount of money with you.

Whether rich or poor whomsoever wants to meet up with their investments goals need to have this emergency funds so as not to bridge your investment along the line when your it is not yet ripe. Things we don't plan in life are meant to occur but having an alternative to settle some daily requirements and unforeseen circumstances in the future is necessary.
586  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League 2023/24 Season on: April 04, 2024, 10:42:56 AM
Manchester City must not underestimate Madrid, if they really want to win, they must be able to focus on playing consistently and regularly on the field so they can face Madrid like last season, be more calm and measured to be able to score goals, I believe that Manchester City can do it if they don't underestimate Madrid. they will be much more focused, we all know that all of Manchester City's key players will almost be played in the first leg and if Madrid want to win they have to beat the first leg.

It is not typical of City to underestimate a club that has won many titles in the UCL. Madrid is the current king of the UCL, it would be a big mistake if City were too overconfident in this match. I think, Pep Guardiola also really understands how Madrid plays the strengeth and weakness, and what he needs to do is keep his playing strategy on the field running well. This is the Quarter-Final round, there is no way City can underestimate Madrid.
As Pep Guardiola said, if they want to dominate the Champions League, they must be able to beat Madrid. So of course it is an obligation for Pep Guardiola to be able to maximize the match against Madrid in Leg 1. However of all the phases that Madrid will face, their biggest challenge will come early, in essence like it or not, the Leg of the match will be like a final for anyone, a fierce battle will not can be avoided. The results of Leg 1 have a big impact, therefore Pep Guardiola understands Madrid situation much better, especially after Benzema left. Bellingham will be reunited with Haaland as an old friend from his days at Dortmund and will make this match even more special than the last meeting last season.

Pep Guardiola is probably right because this are the biggest clubs in the champions league so anyone among them that wins the other will likely emerge the winner of the champions league so the both teams are faced with the responsibility of winning. Taking a look at their head to head, Manchester city have won Madrid more because they won Madrid 5 times then Madrid won them 4 times so this might be an opportunity for Madrid to equalize the head to head on 5, 5 wins but it is not an easy one at all because Manchester city though are still premier league contenders but they are not certain if they can win the trophy so they will want to win the Champions league so as to achieve an important trophy this season.

Jude Bellingham is a good player, he has shown a lot of commitment since he joined Real Madrid and it will be a game to watch because Erling Haaland on the other side of Manchester city is also a notable player and of such the both teams are made up of high profile players so this match will be more of "the clash of giants".
587  Other / Off-topic / Re: Why can't we live in peace? on: April 04, 2024, 09:54:18 AM
So far as human continue to exist, war, conflict, disaster, disagreement, supremacy and other ways by which crisis erupt among individuals will continue to exist as well because normally, human beings think differently and does things differently so there is absolutely no way one will not disagree over another and just like animals, humans also fights for survival of the fittest in a time where there is limited supply of socio-economic needs of the people and other basic things that makes man superior to another.

And what also leads to crisis and other social vices is as a result of the anxiousness of power because on a norm, no body wants to continue to be inferior or belittled so in a situation where someone at the bottom is inquisitive to be at the top and the one at the one at the top doesn't want others to meet them at the top therefore it can result to conflicts and disagreement and can lead to war clash and other human disturbance with those particular regions.
588  Local / Politics and society (Naija) / Re: Democracy in Nigeria on: April 04, 2024, 09:27:39 AM
Our Democratic failure starts from the pole when after all the noise and protest and shouting some still went on to vote for incompetent person just because they want to play loyalty to a political party even when they already know that the candidate has no plan for the nation. The only chance we have to make democracy what it ought to be in our nation is to elect a candidate that's ready to serve and not someone that's just going into that office because he feels that it's his turn to become the President. Untill we make the right decision at the pole, forget about democracy and face your hustle with your full chest.

This is exactly what is happening in our Democratic government just like you said the problem of this country starts from it Citizens because imagine where people compromise their franchise just because of little peanut they get from these so called greedy and power hungry leaders during elections though we all know that the electoral process is not 100% credible but yet our actions sometimes can help in times of probing the electoral process. And another thing is that politicians no longer see government as a service to the people but a way of showing superiority over their subjects and takes decisions that are not in alignment with the masses opinion.

It is very bad that our democracy have been jeopardized over the years due to self centered leaders that only cares about enriching themselves rather than proffering solutions to the problem of the masses. Democracy Which is supposed to be government of the people is now government of some cabals of people and everything rotates among these set of people that is why the masses doesn't feel the positive impact of government.
589  Other / Off-topic / Re: How much gambling can change a person and how low his mind can go. on: April 04, 2024, 07:45:37 AM
There is a lot of Anaphora in your post but from the story you shared above is really a sad one because it only takes one to become a father to know the pains parents go through to make sure that their children are taken care of but it's so sad for a child to steal his father's money even if the child uses the money for other things other than gambling it is still a very bad habit because someday that child may steal from an outsider and get apprehended and possibly get punished.

Stealing parents hard earn money to play gamble is a clear case of wickedness and shouldn't be condoned and the father knowing too well that the child steals his money to gamble, what proactive measure has he taken to put a stop and repetition of his child always stealing his money even when he is aware of this bad habit of his son because keeping quiet and telling other people will not solve the problem but for him to take action now if not that child will grow up and become a nuisance to the society.
590  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Europa League 2023/24 Season on: April 04, 2024, 07:21:49 AM
The UEL journey may not necessarily be stressful for them as Liverpool tends to be better than the teams in the tournament, their tough counterpart will definitely be Leverkusen because they've had more or less same domestic league results as Liverpool and the team is everly eager to strive to win games and they're aiming for the trophy. It's good that the both of them are in the same condition and then also have the same goal and target in the domestic and continental tournaments too.

It hasn't been a much problem for Liverpool until reaching this phase really. Atalanta can be considered as the biggest threat so far but I don't expect them to be the team to eliminate Liverpool either.

Liverpool's next competitor will be Benfica or Marseille next time in this case. I don't think any of them would be able to beat Liverpool also. I'm also one of the people who want to see a Liverpool - Leverkusen finale. But Leverkusen's job to reach this phase is more difficult compared to Liverpool though. Let's say they got past West Ham their next competitor will be one of Milan and Roma. I wouldn't be surprised to see Leverkusen being eliminated earlier.  Sad
Liverpool's journey in the European League seems to be going very smoothly. It seems like they were able to get to the present stage without any significant obstacles. So I think Liverpool can easily advance to the final in the Europa League. Unless a surprising match result occurs that knocks Liverpool out. But in terms of performance, we can see that Liverpool is indeed above the level of other clubs in the European League. Leverkusen also looks like it could be the favorite, but Leverkusen had a little difficulty when they were in the round of 16. So many people are starting to be unsure about Leverkusen. But Leverkusen level in the Bundesliga has become proof that this team is indeed strong enough and still deserves to be the favorite to get to the final along with Liverpool. But yeah, Leverkusen's journey will be more difficult if they have to meet Milan or Roma.

Liverpool have been in a very good form ever since the Europa league competition started and their consistency have brought them this far, so I don't see them having any challenge at this time so it is very obvious that Liverpool is expected to reach the finals of the Europa league competition and I don't see any team that can stop them for now. Leverkusen having some challenges during the round of sixteen was just as a result of fatigue from the players because it wasn't easy to maintain a good form in the Bundesliga and the Europa league and so far they've been unbeaten in all competitions since 02nd August, 2023 so despite the little challenges they had then yet they were able to move to the next stages of the competition so I see them also making it to the finals but just like you said, AC Milan and AS Roma are also good contenders so their are still some tough games that will await Leverkusen in the future but with their steadfastness in matches this season, i see their strength almost as equal with that of Liverpool.
591  Other / Off-topic / Re: The challenges of protecting children from gambling on: April 03, 2024, 10:54:54 PM
Gambling is definitely not good for children, that is why there is age limitation in virtually all casinos. Unfortunately, children are becoming too smart and inquisitive, so I was just thinking about the possibilities of protecting children from getting involved in gambling. My worries was increased by the fact that there are physical casinos and betting shops(as they are called in my town) in many streets with big signboards. Children passes these places and some parents do stop by with their children to place a quick bet. Is there anything that can be done to protect children from gambling with reference to physical shops that they see everyday?

We are in computer age right now where everything is going digital and children become so smart to knowing some certain things they ought not to know at a tender age so the only way to exonerate one's children from playing gambling is to make sure that they have something they are always occupied with such that they will not have time to be influenced by things that their friends are doing and again, to protect your children from gambling you must make sure that they haven't caught you playing gambling and if you are a gambler, don't be too open to discuss about your gambling life with others in front of your children because children easily starts to copy what they see there parents does.
592  Other / Off-topic / Re: Gambling kills the fun in these two cases on: April 03, 2024, 10:47:52 PM
Do not make gambling your only source of income or your only means of entertainment, as this will eliminate the first goal of gambling, which is pleasure.
My take on this is to not make gambling your source of income at all. Gambling is too risky to be made a source of income. People that are making it a source of income are failing as they lose more than win.
Just wondering how someone can make gambling a source of income because how can they cope with too many losses when winning is not guaranteed all the time. It will even be a stupid idea for anyone to take gambling as a source of income I mean suh a person can never grow at all because instead of making progress in life, they will gradually become addicted and desperate to win so it is never a good idea to make gambling a source of income.
593  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will BTC dip again? on: April 03, 2024, 11:06:41 AM
For those of you out there who are planning on buying more coins
like me when the market dips, have you guys set a target price where
you will buy?

The price has not yet reached what is ideally the price I would want to
buy bitcoin in despite its recent decline and I am wondering if will
bitcoin still go down to at least $50k?

BTC price may not fall back to $50k but I still believe that there will be possibility for a dip before the halving, the halving is close but since the price of BTC set a new ATH before halving, there will be some late hour corrections before the halving appears so expecting a dip is very possible and you can still buy but don't rely too much on an extreme dip because I don't see that happening till after bull run.
594  Economy / Economics / Re: how to survive inflation and economy hardship on: April 03, 2024, 11:01:22 AM
Sometimes looking towards increment in salary wouldn't solve our problems.Over the years there has been hardship in the economy all over the world, and people complain on how to increase there salary or have other alternatives of getting more funds, and even when they get what they desire, they still complain that since their source of income has increased, there expenses has also increased. But I think that people needs to control the way they spend, in other to be able to save more. If paraventure we decided to spend according to how we earn without reducing the level of spending, we may end up not being productive.

Human wants are insatiable as we don't get enough of what we want, naturally human tends to spend more when they earn more and it is not a bad practice so far as the income is coming steadily. But it is also good to cut our expenses In times of economic challenges like this because it will make us not to feel the impact that much and we will also have surplus in our Treasury. Every successful person in life make adequate plans about their income because if you don't plan how to spend your income then obviously you will not be able to achieve anything memorable in the future because you basically spend all your income without making plans for the future.

In summary, if a man's wealth increases, their want increases as well because let us consider a scenario where you earn very little and every thing you do will be equivalent with your earnings so when your portfolio increases as well you well also be involved in things that will match your current status as well so we should just increase our earnings and make sure it comes at regular intervals then be it inflation or recession, it will not affect you
595  Other / Off-topic / Re: Arent men in general more likely to take risks compared to women? on: April 03, 2024, 10:49:03 AM
You should know that women are more emotional during losses than men because they were created that way, the male gender have the ability to withstand tough stages of life and during an investment, if a man loses though he will still have that human feeling but he will become stronger later and move on but that doesn't implies that women doesn't take risks. Women do take risks even higher risks more than men just that it is only very few women that can do that but in the case of men, a lot of them takes so much risk. It is good to take risk in life because it is what will lead us to succeed in life or to fall and use another strategy to rise again, that is for some one who is determined to succeed.
596  Other / Politics & Society / Re: How to Sustain a new year resolution on: April 03, 2024, 09:56:41 AM
How to keep a resolution for the new year
Similar to last year, we have made resolutions for the new year as it is the beginning of the year. Due to the fact that you failed to keep your resolutions from prior years, you may have stopped making resolutions altogether. You weren't unable to keep those resolutions because you were unmotivated or incapable; rather, it was because you never gave it much attention.
Here are some strategies for sustaining ones New Year's resolution.

Make resolutions that you can actually achieve. You cannot set goals based only on your desires.
Write down your resolutions on a sticky note or in your diary so that you can remember them every day. Even better, set a calendar reminder.
Every day, make progress toward that goal. For example, if one of your goals for the new year is to read two books every month, start by reading at least one page each day.
To check off everyone you managed to do, use an app or calendar.
Finally, keep going; whether you skip a day or a month, it makes no difference; just pick up where you left off.

You can add your own suggestions.
Actually, making resolutions for each year and making every efforts to work according to them is good, resolutions comes with a lot of responsibilities and commitment so that you can achieve your goals but it is not a must that you should fulfill all your lay down resolutions of what you want to achieve for the year, any one you are unable to meet up within the time frame you expected it, you should move on to the next one and forget about the one you've already missed and continue living. Life is not always about meeting up with your set goals but to reach out to others who couldn't afford to earn a living or are less privilege, show some love to others around you because even if you become fulfilled in life, one day you will leave the earth and what others can remember you of is your good deeds and not your achievements while alive.
597  Local / Politics and society (Naija) / Re: Is this the beginning of crude oil by-products price dropping? on: April 03, 2024, 09:44:16 AM
I read last month that it is possible for PMS (petrol) price to reduce this month if the refinery in Port Harcourt is fully functional. This month has just started and we are looking forward for good news about this.
That is how they always promise that Portharcourt refinery will begin operations for some time now and at the end of the day, they just abandon it and it has been a repeated act for some years now. Anyway let's be hopeful that it will start operations this time around because almost every one is tired of all these empty hopes all the time.

Quote
Today, I have just read that Dangote refinery is now selling AGO (diesel) as diesel price plummeted. Diesel sold at ₦1900 in few weeks back but mostly selling between ₦1600 and 1700 per liter. But as Dangote refinery begin diesel sales, it started selling it at N1225.per litre.
The greatest news that can happen now is if AGO price and petrol pump prices reduces because every one in the society needs these products to facilitate daily activities in the sense that, for motorist, it hasn't been easy for them since petroleum products increased and for passengers also, paying high transportation fees to go to work and their respective business places hasn't also been easy for them as well more especially the salary earners as there were no increment in their basic salaries during these periods.

Quote
If the price of PMS and AGO starts to decrease, it is possible for default to occur as the price of goods and services may start decreasing. But other areas like increase in minimum wage and others also still need to be considered which can make me not to be accurately correct but I think that the price if goods and services may reduce.
Exactly because despite that everyone was thinking it was the depreciation in Naira that caused the increment of the price of goods and services, high price of petroleum products was the major contributor because distributors always complain about the high price of transportation resulting from high prices of petroleum products as well, so if the prices of these petroleum products reduces then we can also see the prices of goods and services drop also.
598  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What's your next step if you experience a Great BEAR MARKET ? on: April 02, 2024, 12:58:53 PM
Currently Bitcoin is expected to have a bull run and halving in coming time as we all know it.

Now if you were to make an investment of $100 as a beginner regardless of your country and as it stands Bitcoin is experiencing a bear market (an example) after you made 5% capital.

Initially you want to hold for a very long time but as a result of the bear market you loose your capital and half your investment yet the market is showing no sign for you to recover.
What's your next step as a first timer in Bitcoin /Altcoin trading?
That is the more reason why experience is needed in every investment and we are being advised on a long term investment because that is where the greater profit awaits you, now as a long term hodler you have no business with the bear season because you already know that you will recover in bull run and since every halving, the current ATH always goes more than the previous one so in a case of a bear season all an investor need is to forget about the Bitcoin he already has in his portfolio and buy more after which he can still DCA till the next bull run though i prefer buying during bear season and selling to make some profits at bull season.
599  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Equal society is possible.... on: April 02, 2024, 12:36:25 PM
The theories of Karl Marx has made us to understand that an equal society is possible if the society work in unity. Search has shown that 80% of relationship between societies is strictly bias and profit minded which make it difficult for equal society to exist. The rich hate the poor to reach the class and the poor hate the rich for always staying at the top. A quote says: the rich cannot sleep because the poor are awakes and the poor can not sleep because they're hungry. This are part societies from the pictures of seeing people equal or leadership doubtlessly working towards equal societies. Is any society that practice equality laws and equity for oneness in all shared resource?
So far as the hunger to be at the top continues, every one can never be equal in the society reason being that we all are humans but created differently because there are things you know and you are able to comprehend them perfectly but I may not know even if I try to I may not be as perfect as you are that is just nature for us and coming to the society we are now, the rich wants to get Richer and take home everything without caring about how the poor ones in the society are doing instead they will even see where the poor ones are trying to survive from and still take it from them so there is no relationship between the poor and the rich because Normally, the rich always roll with the rich so there is no place for the poor and that brings about inequality in the society.
600  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2023/24 on: April 02, 2024, 12:24:57 PM
Atletico Madrid vs Villarreal was a great match and Atletico Madrid won by 2-1. After attacking enough in this match they managed to win anyway it was a very important match for them. A win in this match saw Atlético Madrid move up to fourth in the La Liga points table, although they currently have 58 points. However, if they can complete the next matches well and win then they can compete with Girona, although currently Girona are in the 3rd position. So if Atletico Madrid can improve their game and attack strongly in the next matches, it is possible to occupy the third position. However, if they are at the top this season, they can definitely perform well in the next season. However, Atlético Madrid will have to play a lot harder now as Atlético Club is currently coming up to compete with them.
Atletico Madrid really played very well to win Villarreal yesterday, apparently I didn't expect Atletico to have an easy win at Villarreal because if not that football is really changing in Europe, Villarreal is also among the strong teams in the la Liga but for some time they have depreciated in form and doesn't play like they use to play before.

Atletico Madrid still need more winnings to be comfortable in the fourth position or rather move to third position because with the way Girona have dropped form this period, they are likely to lose the top four positions if care is not taken. It is so bad to see the once flourishing Girona becoming so weak just all of a sudden and even struggling in their recent matches. La Liga is not for a weak team because any team that would win needs a lot of hardwork and consistency. I see la Liga ending in this arrangement this season, Real Madrid will win la Liga, Barcelona will come out second position, Atletico Madrid will occupy the third position why an awesome Atletico Bilbao will take up the forth positions that is just my prediction for the top four in the la Liga this season.
