581  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Im Newbie on Cryptocurrencies! Need your opinion about my coins guys on: January 13, 2018, 10:22:12 PM
HI everyone.Im happy to be here.Just strted my new life on cryptos 1 month ago.Anyway i ve made some investiments,so id like your opinion and thoughts.
I am looking for a long term investiment..but before i make my own research,id like to listen to your opinions. Thanks and good luck with your earnings.

Holding
-BTC
-TRX
-IOTA
-XRP
I think your stash is good enough but I suggest that you spread your investment more and if I were you I would sell trx xrp whenever I get a chance to sell it high since I think trx and xrp have very limited potential for growth. There are many coins out there with potential why not consider adding at least two coins in your portfolio? That way you will profit more and the chance that you will lose money on your investment will lessen.
582  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Bounties (Altcoins) / Re: [BOUNTY] [ICO]🔶 Spectre.ai (SPEC) 🔶: Speculative Tokenized Trading Exchange🔶 on: January 12, 2018, 11:01:43 PM
Some clarification...

To all bounty campaign participants, before whining and spreading false statements, do some research.

The key point about this campaign bounty pool is the % allocation. 0.75% of all SPEC tokens (SXDT + SXUT).
If you take a look at these pages https://etherscan.io/token/0x12b306fa98f4cbb8d4457fdff3a0a0a56f07ccdf (SXDT) and https://etherscan.io/token/0x2c82c73d5b34aa015989462b2948cd616a37641f (SXUT), you will see that there are 140,270,691.248776761435171102 (SXDT) + 42,980,365.026110428730391098 (SXUT) = 183,251,056.275 tokens in total.

4.5 millions SPEC (SXDT + SXUT) tokens will be distributed through this campaign. It represents 2.455% of all SPEC (SXDT + SXUT) tokens. You should feel HAPPY about it, while we followed the initial plan, all of the participants would only have received around 1,374,382 SPEC (SXDT + SXUT) tokens.

Regarding the signature campaign rates, participants should always read campaigns rules and understand HOW they work, not being greedy and just think about the money they will receive.
When rates are based on fixed $ rates, you choose the stability. Even if ETH price goes up by 10,000% for example, that you earned 5,000 $ stakes, you will still get $5,000 in tokens at the end, not $5,000*10,000%.
I understand that we are promised in $ since it is stated that we would be paid by $ per post but when will you open the spreadsheet again? I just want to review my stakes before getting the bounty that's all.
583  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: could someone please help me? on: January 11, 2018, 08:48:26 PM
Hi there,

I'd be really grateful if someone could help me. I did a search for Cryptocurrency Forums and came across this site as I don't really know who to ask as I don't really understand this cryptocurrency stuff. I appreciate this appears to be a bitcoin forum and my question is regarding ethereum coins, so not sure if you can help, but I thought it was worth a try.

A very close friend of mine who very sadly passed away last year gave me some advice to buy some of this Ethereum stuff a couple of years back. I had been left some money by an uncle and was looking to invest a portion of it. I was originally planning to but it all into a high interest account but my friend convinced me to invest in this cryptocurrency. At first I was reluctant to invest but my friend was utterly convinced that these coins would increase in value substantially one day and I could potentially make a lot of money. I eventually decided to invest £6000 and my friend walked me through the process.

Anyhow I forgot all about it, and early last year before my friend passed away (who knew a lot more about this stuff than I do) so I didn't really ask him about it. All he said was that it's going in the right direction, and in another year or two would be worth something.

Like I say I kind of forgot about it.....he kind of talked me through it all. I think I did a withdrawal into some kind of wallet from an internet coin exchange (I'm pretty sure it was called Bit Rex?) and then had a really long password which I wrote down. I think it was about 75 coins if I recall correctly.

My friend told me for extra security I should store this password away safely, so he showed me how to safely store my wallet password in a text file encryptor thing which I still have on my computer. I wrote the password down to this password protected file and stored it in a tin I keep on top of my kitchen cupboard with all other important letters and paperwork.

So skip forward to last week and I am talking to another friend of mine and he mentioned Bitcoins (all over the news) and I said how Stuart had helped me purchase a new thing callled Ethereum which he was convinced would be as big as bitcoin one day. He told me that the new coin had been going through the roof lately in terms of value so I should check and see how many coins I had and check the value of them.

.....Unfortunately I've lost the bit of paper that had the password to the encrypted text file  Cry

I think I might have chucked it away accidentally when I was throwing away some old bank statements.

so I've been searching around my computer for anything I can find, but I'm totally stuck....I can't find the password in any document I've saved at all  Cry

I do have a file with this in it but I think this is related to my wallet? 0x7dDd57165c87A2707f025DCFC2508c09834759Bc

I have the program on my computer that encrypted the text file that had my password on it which is called cryptxt - I've sent an email to the company on the cryptxt.org website but they have replied and said that they are unable to help me.

So I have this file on my computer that is password protected, but have no way of opening it

If I could figure out what the password is, then I'd have the password to the wallet and I could check how many coins I have, and possibly try and exchange them for Bitcoins?

At this point I'd just be happy to have my £6000 back  Embarrassed

Would it be worth contacting the website who manage the wallets? Is there anyone else I could contact? Ethereum maybe?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!  Smiley

It would be worth the try but you can try to enter as many password combination as you can. Maybe you will remember the password in the process. By the way what other files do you have? If you have the file for the private key then it can still be recovered even if it is password protected. You can try to bruteforce it if the file that has password on it is your private key then there is a chance that you can recover your wallet.
584  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Will blockchain kill traditional banking? on: January 10, 2018, 10:03:52 PM
Not only will banks be disrupted, but also Wall Street. Saw a project the other day called Polymath that's building a platform for launching securities. Then those securities will be able to traded. Revolutionary stuff that's been going on. https://polymath.network/
I think that won't be enough to disrupt the banks. Instead block chain tech will improve what system banks currently have now. I am sure they will try to use blockchain tech one way or another after they discover the benefits they can get in using it. As far as I know there are already some banks that uses blockchain tech to improve their banking system and services.
585  Economy / Economics / Re: BitTorrent creator announces Chia network on: January 07, 2018, 09:34:50 PM
It's very nice that experienced devs with great experience come to crypto sphere. Healthy competition will make crypto much stronger.

I don't think so. It's just a money grab.
I also think that it is just a money grab but I think it is profitable even if that is the case after all many will invest into it, particularly those who would want to support him and it will create a temporary rise for it. Although that is the case, I think it would still be quite a gamble. I also think that his idea might not make crypto stronger. I just hope he wont sell it via ICO because if he did, it would evidently be a money grab scheme.
586  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin Miners "reportedly" fleeing China on: January 06, 2018, 10:38:26 PM
Saw this first thing when I opened my browser. http://markets.businessinsider.com/currencies/news/bitcoin-miners-ditch-china-as-crackdown-on-cryptocurrencies-continues-2018-1-1012533774

Quote
Bitcoin miners are reportedly fleeing China because it is cracking down on cryptocurrencies

Two of China's largest bitcoin mining operations are looking to set up shop elsewhere as the country expands its clampdown on cryptocurrencies to mining operations, Bloomberg news reported Friday.

Bitmain, which runs two exchanges, has set up a regional office in Singapore, as well as mining operations in the US and Canada, CEO Wu Jihan told the news channel in an interview. News of the impending crackdown was first reported Wednesday.

China banned wildly popular initial coin offerings - or ICO's - last year, as well as banning trading of the digital assets on local exchanges. The country had initially been popular for cryptocurrency mining because of cheap energy costs.

The policy shift could drastically affect the bitcoin mining landscape, which is already struggling with transaction times that can exceed 10 minutes.

The price of bitcoin has tapered slightly from its intraday highs, but is still trading up more than 7% at $16,471 per coin.

OK, we all know China is trying to make its own digital fiat and we kinda expected it would clamp down on competition. Do you think mining would still remain stable? I mean, there are probably miners there that might not be able afford to quickly move out. Would this be for the better (mining become more widely spread out) or can this cause transactions to come to a halt?
I think mining would still remain stable even if Chinese stops mining. It might be better as they won't be the ones with the biggest has power anymore and the hash power of btc would be more diversified causing it to be more decentralized. It won't make transactions halt but I am sure it would temporarily slow down but in the long run it will recover the lost hash power.
587  Economy / Economics / Re: Will Bitcoin Experience More Price Volatility in 2018? on: January 05, 2018, 10:39:09 PM
Definitely BTC will be more volatile in 2018 as more people are jumping in it on other hand govt also planning to regulate it one way or another.
Even if that is the case there is no concrete way for government to regulate it. There will always be loopholes on their regulations and there will always be unregulated exchanges where we can trade. Although that is the case, I agree that it will be more volatile this year as demand for Bitcoin as well as altcoins are increasing a lot lately and adoption rate is high ATM.  I expect unexpected price movements this year and I expect soe big bullish or bearish trends.
588  Economy / Economics / Re: Is this the end for bitcoins ? on: January 04, 2018, 11:34:30 AM
Very recently I read an article , which assumed bitcoins to be exactly like the Dutch tulip mania , the Mississippi bubble and the south sea bubble.

The author of that article (which was published in the economic times ) said it's now time to move away from bitcoins , the market has ended and the sooner you forfeit the lesser will be your loss.

What do you guys think about it ?

I think it ain't the end of bitcoin yet. If ever it really is a bubble right now, if it pops bitcoin would not completely lose it's value because it is an innovative tech capable of aiding one to send and receive money online easily from one person to another without a centralized third party. Nevertheless, If ever a greater tech is to come, then I am sure people might prefer to use it if it is more convenient to use. For now I think if there is one coin that has a better tech than it, I would say it is Bitcoin Cash ATM although their difference is little.
589  Economy / Economics / Re: 2017 was 4th best year for Bitcoin after 2010, 2013 and 2011. on: January 03, 2018, 09:30:01 PM
2017 was 4th best year for Bitcoin after 2010, 2013 and 2011.   You see all beside year 2014 were positive.

2010 $0.003  +10000%
2011 $0.3        +1566%
2012 $5            +160%
2013 $13         +5823%
2014 $770           -59%
2015 $316          +36%
2016 $430        +128%
2017 $980      +1286%
2018 $13585
I agree that 2017 was the 4th best year for Bitcoin as it is the year of the dawn of massive adoption of cryptos. It is the year that proved Bitcoin has real worth and is not just a Ponzi scheme although in the process some people still call it a bubble. At least it was legalized by some countries. I hope 2018 would be another year of Bitcoin development and rise. I hope it won't go to a bearish trend this year.
590  Economy / Economics / Re: European Union official suggests that Bitcoin will not be regulated on: January 02, 2018, 01:08:25 PM
Over time, all countries will have to decide on ways to regulate bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies.
That time is sure to come and is drawing near since there will come a time when btc and crypto would be used massively in crimes and in money laundering, more than how it is probably used by some to do the same act covertly and it will happen in a bigger scale. By that time, government's would have to find a way to regulate cryptocurrency use one way or another to prevent or minimize those acts.
591  Economy / Economics / Re: market dominance in 2018 on: January 01, 2018, 11:23:23 PM
I find it sad, but inevitable.

Bitcoin is still the leading currency, but it's obsolete when we are talking about DAPPs, smart contracts, ICOs, new technologies, etc. I think we will even see BTC dominance under 25% in 2018.
That is possible and for this reason I hope there will soon be a way to solve the slow transaction speed because it is the first step needed in order to keep Bitcoin dominance in the market this year. Still, I don't think Bitcoin will lose when the reason is just tech, the reason for it's loss of market dominance mainly is the slow transaction and those other alts with DAPPs and Smart contracts are not intended to be used as a full pledged currency. If ever there will be one that might best btc in it's dominance it will be it's forked version which is Bitcoin Cash.
592  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Your most profitalbe altcoin speculation on: December 30, 2017, 11:14:24 PM
I bought litcoin Last Feburary when it was only a little more than 4 dollars. and it is now about 300 dollars. what is your most profitable altcoin speculation?
My most profitable speculation so far is when I bought Ethereum way back 2015 when it was selling on 1337 eth per 1btc,  I sold it when it reached 200$.Too bad I have sold them too early but still I am glad to make a good profit on ethereum. Another  profitable altcoins speculation I made is when I have bought litecoin last new year. Now it's price is sitting around 300$ and I have sold it recently. Too bad I have only invested a little on it.
593  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Coins that will survive a bubble, real world use coins. on: December 29, 2017, 10:49:31 PM
I'm looking for more coins with connections to real world business and having a working product will be nice.    If we get on these coins they will be the ones to survive a crazy crash if we have one, not saying we will but anything is possible, real world value coins will do well long-term.

Right now for this I have:

Factom
IOTA
NEO
ETH
WTC
OMG
VeChain

Any others you suggest I look into that have working partnerships and connections with real larger companies? Any I'm missing
You should also include ethereum in your list since those smart contracts that can be run on eth can be used for.many things in real life, making it have many real world use cases. Another coin that have real world use case now is stellar lumens since they have partnered up with IBM to launch block chain banking across multiple countries, making it easier to transact with other abroad. For the reference of what I have said, here is the link: https://www.coindesk.com/ibms-stellar-move-tech-giant-use-lumen-cryptocurrency-payments-rail/
594  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: John mcfee next coin prediction? on: December 28, 2017, 11:25:16 PM
Lets predict here what his next coin might be!!!
It's better if you will buy multiple coins so that whenever John McAfee starts to pump a certain altcoin again, there is a higher chance that you will have that coin he will pump. Since that is the case, divide your investments evenly on altcoins that you would like to buy. If ever none of your coins got pumped, pick those with a little value for it to be sellable if ever you want out of it. Better yet choose altcoins with real potential so that you will really have a hefty sum of profit. Do not depend on somebody's pump and dump scheme to gain it.
595  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: segwit 2x fork expected tomorrow 28th dec.. what do you think? on: December 27, 2017, 10:54:48 PM
Does this mean I'll get an equivalent value in segwit2x of dollars I have in btc?
No but you will get the same amount of btc that you have since it is a 1:1 ratio. The number of dollars that you will get is dependent on the price segwit2x fork will have in the time you intend to sell. It will also dependent whether how many users got segwit2x forked coin since some web wallets does not distribute forked coins to their users. I am sure that it will have at least a hundred dollar value after it's release on market.
596  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Mywish on: December 26, 2017, 11:18:10 PM
I have invested in Mywish a company that allows anyone to create a smartcontract without knowing the programming languages.
He has a great team and I think he will do very well.
https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/mywish/
It has a great concept indeed but I think it won't be generally good for cryptocurrency world itself since this will encourage more scammers to start their own ICO since it won't require one to have programming skills. Looking at the good side though, it will ease companies starting smart contracts of their own bringing in more demand for cryptocurrencies. It would also make using crypto more convenient as it will be the gateway for more uses.
597  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Bread BRD - Next coinbase? on: December 25, 2017, 11:51:20 PM
Its a largely backed decentralized bank.
I think it has a great future, the more i read about it the more i want to buy:
https://twitter.com/Blockchain_Dame/status/941438321452085258
So #Trezor and #LedgerS are investors for @breadapp . Says a lot if the leaders in hardware wallet security are investing in a new form of wallet.... $BRD
I also think that it is a good project indeed but I doubt if ever it will replace coinbase for not. Coinbase is a well established company already with many crypto users trusting it. Also, it would be harder for newbies to use BRD app. FOr this reason, I think it wont replace coinbase since it is newbie friendly. In case it really did replace coinsbase, then it is good because we will have a decentralized bank rather than a centralized one on coinbase.
598  Local / Others (Pilipinas) / Re: Sinu gusto makatanggap ng BTC bilang aginaldo? on: December 24, 2017, 11:14:35 PM
Sinu gusto makatanggap ng BTC bilang aginaldo?

posible ba at panu?
599  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Price Prediction!! 31.12.2017 on: December 21, 2017, 10:54:09 PM
My prediction of bitcoin prices by the end of the year is going down because to face big days like christmas and new year will certainly require a budget to be able to celebrate with family, and I think most users will sell it for that purpose, but for prediction maybe bitcoin prices will drop to $ 15k at the end of this year.
That price is achievable tomorrow or by Christmas eve so I think it should be lower. I guess btc price would drop to 13k$ before the end of this year because it has been on a prolonged bullish trend already and it will have to go down to maintain the health of the market. You are right though that selling of btc for it to be used to buy things this Christmas might be one of the cause why btc dropped now. Another reason for downtrend is probably operation dragonslayer unfolding if it succeed.
600  Economy / Speculation / Re: Operation DragonSlayer: The Flippening is happening NOW on: December 20, 2017, 11:40:30 PM
Watch this, Bitcoin Cash Surging to new ATHs while Core is plummeting into new lows since weeks.
Mining power is rapidly switching chains and merchants are adopting Bitcoin Cash at an exponential rate.

THIS IS THE FLIPPENING!
I think this ain't the operation dragonslayer since they aren't switching chains. There is no significant changes on bch's average hashrate as of date according bitinfocharts. Probably what happened now is a normal dip, just like what happens every now and then after bitcoin has stabilized in a certain price ranges. For now probably operation dragonslayer will not proceed as planned since there aren't any movements at all but those rumors has been there for weeks already.
