5801  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: BITMAIN announces Antpool on: October 08, 2015, 05:00:14 AM
look at you guys crying like a bunch of babies lol lol lol.

Sad to see that so many bitcoiners have so little brain capacity to get what is at stake here.

Care to explain this comment more?  Are you saying miners at antpool specifically?

Or in general bitcoiners?  I'm a little lost.

At least on my end:  It's because Antpool (and unless they changed, Discus Fish/F2Pool as well) still engages in SPV mining, meaning that they are not relying on a fully validating Bitcoin node to mine.  Which has caused them to fork the chain once in the past already, and means that they mine empty blocks at a significantly higher rate because they will move on to a new block header before their bitcoin node actually sees a new block.

SPV mining is something that people should NOT be okay with.  There's no excuse for it, and it is directly harmful to the network for such huge amounts of the hash rate to be mining on pools which will start mining a new block without validating the previous one.

Thanks for the explanation.  I have to admit that does sound scary.  Is there any stats or anything where we can see how often it messes up and goes to new block? Do they show as Orphaned?  Or would these non validated blocks show up as something else?

And thank you for your time explaining it.
5802  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Sidehack stick solo pool club on: October 08, 2015, 04:56:54 AM
Remember this first 30 days is beta test.  If we get crazy lucky and hit  we all get an equal share.

Thanks, Phil.  I'm sure I speak for many of us when I say that if we do hit a block in the next couple days you'll be getting a cut of my share, and so will Novak and Sidehack.

I know I appreciate all the work you put into club.  (And how shear amount  of clicks you did in a month).  Also thank you for all the extra hash that was top notch.

I wish there was a overview page that showed all workers to make much easier then the clicking.  I am in it for the long haul with these sticks on trying to hit a block.  Fun even though chances are low.
5803  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BM1384 Pod Miner plus trade-in/recycling - an interest and feasibility poll on: October 08, 2015, 04:52:48 AM
It's times the entire range. Why would I build something you couldn't adjust the voltage and frequency on? That's no fun. Since it's 8 chips, it's 8 times the hashrate of a Compac at any frequency (and probably slightly better efficiency). 100MHz gets you 44GH, and you could take the voltage down to where the whole thing probably burns under 15W of DC power; 400MHz gets you 176GH at around 90W. If you had a good cooler you could probably push it to 450MHz and see just shy of 200GH but the efficiency would be probably pushing 0.55-0.6W/GH at that point.

Adjustability was noted in the first paragraph of the first post, in the sentence right after "which puts it at 8 times the hashrate".

Thanks one that has the entire range would be a lot of fun to play with then.   That makes  U3's a crushing competition as you offer more GH and more efficient then and is around 50 dollar range.

I like both jacks on it that is a good design to give options to power it.   If it is not to expensive on cpu coolers I think you could sell a good amount of them.  And I know you hate the antrouter.  But if there is a hack or you can make these run off antrouter I predict even better sells.  As I think a lot of people will end up with a antrouter with no device and want something to plug into it.

Okay so heres a picture of the board, this thing has way too many screws;
https://i.imgur.com/v2poeaL.jpg?1

1)Should this side be up or down? I wouldn't want stuff falling off if it become lose when the solder is melted! xD

2)Also this is kind of smudgey, could this cause any issues?;

https://i.imgur.com/qmND3gO.jpg?1

And for the record, here is a picture of the previous pasting job;

https://i.imgur.com/yJiHMZ7.jpg?1

Time to start cleaning.

Did you get that miner  used ? Too many screws . Wrong black screws and self-drilled holes in blade.
You have been scammed by seller this miner.

Yea he right they should all be sliver with springs on all of them. The screw hole look ok . just some screws don't .just looked at my S5 that came direct from bitmain it has the same holes with all silver screws with springs on every screw.

You have one unique board.  I have never seen the double screw in previous post.  It is interesting though.  Was a blade sent into bitmain and that blade sent back?   Just curious if bitmain employee did it or odd batch.

But the paste looks pretty bad.  I would get some cleaner/purifier if you want to do it right.  And clean all the chips get the old stuff off.  Then put on a light covering on entire chip should see paste on all of chip.

The nice thing with some of the pastes above is you would get multiple trys with the tubs vs the higher priced stuff. So for troubleshooting on thermal paste I would go for the tub with quite a bit of quantity of it.
5805  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER U3 Discussion and Support Thread on: October 08, 2015, 04:41:03 AM
if someone interested, here is the firmware for tp-link mr3020 with u3 support, no web ui, no router functionality, just system and cgminer 4.9.2
I am wondering why would someone wants to have a firmware on his/her router without router functionality.

I have my TL-WDR3600 running fine as a router with a lot of functionalities including openvpn and also running either cgminer or bfgminer controlling 2 of myAntminer U3s. I initially used bfgminer 5.2.0 then switched to cgminer 4.9.2, but the Antminer U3s became more unstable and I cannot control the USB interface usage. So I switched back to bfgminer 5.3.0.

It is because it makes a good controller.  Avalon 4.1's and other Avalons have used it.  It runs ddwrt with a special version with cgminer on theirs.

I wish I had one to test this fimware but I currently don't have a tplink nano with the usb.
5806  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BM1384 Pod Miner plus trade-in/recycling - an interest and feasibility poll on: October 08, 2015, 03:27:43 AM
Once I have a better estimate of parts (which will of course require more of a finished design than I currently have) the price may go down. Or it may include a cooler, in which case if you don't want a cooler the price may go down.

Also, toptek, your dead S5 board donation partially inspired this idea so you'd be getting one anyway.

With the nice cooler what will be hashrate when you say "which puts it at 8 times the hashrate".  Is it times the lower or higher range?

I didn't think of this till after but if it's the high side of chip at 50 it could be a better deal then U3.  Say 16 x 8 chips would be 128 and that could fight U3's at the 50 dollar range.

*Edit 1/8th of a S5 would be around 137 is that the speed were talking about for around 50 dollars?
5807  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: Limited quantity of Silverfish scrypt miner 20M @240W on: October 08, 2015, 03:02:10 AM
Without the case and fan (I'm assuming), you will need to come down on the price to get a bite.

It do come with the fan , only does not include the case which we sold previous 51asic version.
So we hope the USD50 coupon code can make up this a little bit.

The case was a pretty big upgrade though.  At one time I had a batch one 28M without case.  But it seemed ok at first twords end I was babying it with a AC close to it, and a batch file to restart it from  crashes.

How stable is this batch without a case?
5808  Economy / Goods / Re: [WTB] Liquor on: October 08, 2015, 02:58:46 AM
OP, may I advise you against drinking any homemade liquor a stranger sends you through the mail?  There are shitheads from across the globe here, and you're just asking for trouble if you do that.

Always be able to verify manufacturers and that the bottle is properly sealed! No need for anymore negative bitcoin publicity because you were too negligent to check the product Wink

But if they are a "bad guy" it is not going to be horribly hard for them to reseal it.    I would imagine in a lot of bottles they could put on a new cap.  So there is some danger.

Just like you should never leave your drink alone at a bar.... dont trust others with what's in your drink.

Buying Fireworks / Firecrackers

Shipping inside USA

PM me with a good prices

I want to warn anyone shipping fireworks which are classified as explosives are illegal to be shipped through the mail.

I was not sure if this is applicable for every state or just certain states. However, I think you have to also check for any state that it will potentially cross as well. You might be better off just buying them locally and save yourself a headache.

I'm like 90 percent sure you have to be licensed to ship this kinda stuff.  Big sporting goods stores ship ammo.... but they have a license to do so through mail and it is well marked showing something is inside.

If you sent fireworks as an individual through mail I would have to imagine the residue or something would set off some sort of explosives alarm.  Good chance you make the news... and get in a lot of trouble.

OP go to a local firework store and you can buy all you want.  I know me in certain districts they sell fireworks year around.  Others are linked to the 4th.

One thing you might want to add is never pre-order a miner unless very well known/respected company and even then be careful.  Sadly a lot have lost to preorder miners over the years.

I know it almost got me once with terrahash.  I got lucky they took paypal trying to look more legit to offer paypal and btc.  But I paid paypal and got it back luckily.
5811  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin wallet(s) setting for poker room withdrawal on: October 08, 2015, 02:46:33 AM
I have to receive a withdrawal in Bitcoin from a poker room;
I ve read somewhere they suggests to create a setting ilke this for a well-working witdrawal:

poker room>first Bitcoin wallet like Blockchain>second Bitcoin wallet(something like Coinbase or Circle)>bank, Neteller or wtvr

But I know also that Neteller offers natively Bitcoin deposit... now:

1) why can't I eliminate the second Bitcoin wallet and replace it directly with Neteller?

2) If a second Bitcoin wallet is needed, wich will you put in this setting?

I'm not a gambler but I would imagine they watch it for gambling.  As they want to stay legal with KYC.  It would not look good on a audit if they showed X percent with to or from gambling not regulated in the US in this case.

So would not surprise me if peopled used a second one to prevent going directly showing from gaming site.
5812  Other / Archival / Re: Pictures of your mining rigs! on: October 08, 2015, 02:37:10 AM
I took one out for my new hobby.
Antminer/plant heater...... Grin Grin Grin

This is gotta be one of the sexiest mining pictures ever. For sure!  Good I idea though using the heat form the miner to help the plants out.

Very interesting can I ask where (country/state) this is in?  Never thought of the two mixing thanks for sharing.
5813  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BITMAIN AntRouter R1: 1st wireless networking device with bitcoin mining chip on: October 08, 2015, 02:33:59 AM
Antrouter now shows out on bitmains site - https://www.bitmaintech.com/productDetail.htm?pid=00020150915040859863u4Bgg9SX069F

I'm guessing they have sold a pretty good amount of them at this point.  Wonder if batch 1 is really done, or if they will open up again.
5814  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S7 is available at bitmaintech.com with 4.86TH/s, 0.25J/GH on: October 08, 2015, 02:31:04 AM
is bitmain website down?

It came up for me first try.  No issues here.   Anrtrouter shows out of stock at the moment though.

*Edit also checked antpool it is also up.
5815  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BM1384 Pod Miner plus trade-in/recycling - an interest and feasibility poll on: October 08, 2015, 02:26:47 AM
The only problem for me is I don't have any dead parts.  I have always in past sold them off.  I don't believe in sitting my miner gear on a shelf as it loses value.  If people did sit them on a shelf it would be a amazing deal for them.

Myself though without the gear I will have to pay.   And I don't mind the idea of a CPU heatsink as long as it is one that is not to bad on cost, I'm sure it would take a little searching to find which one this is.

The hardest part I see is mass production competing against U3's.  U3's are no near as efficient but they are cheap.  So in a way you would direct compete with them which is bad because they have massive volume.  And I suspect bigger after antrouter as a lot will want one or two to plug in antrouter.
5816  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ATX Power Supply Jumper, now with a switch! on: October 08, 2015, 02:21:38 AM
I may be biased but they are still fugly looking.  I must just like mine better.  Wink

I agree, this one is the best looking one I have seen:

I sent you a PM about it.

I would agree that one is sexy.   It's like they took the EVGA one that ships with high end ATX psu's and improved it with a switch.

How much does that one cost?
5817  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Diff thread Oct 1 to Oct 14 picks are Open. 2x bonus! + a surprise? on: October 08, 2015, 02:19:26 AM
Bitwisdom does not look bad:

Bitcoin Difficulty:    60,813,224,039
Estimated Next Difficulty:    63,090,663,373 (+3.74%)
Adjust time:    After 1071 Blocks, About 7.3 days
Hashrate(?):    436,382,996 GH/s

Guess we will see after China holiday what it does.  Coin was higher but 244 is not bad, at least were over 240 mark.
5818  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Sidehack stick solo pool club on: October 07, 2015, 11:34:28 PM
Mine is back up.   Appears electricity was lost on RPI.  It rebooted but sit there with no miners.  So my average is lower today but should be fixed now.

Now need to find a scrypt to do run it automatically so does not happen again.
5819  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: GekkoScience Compac BM1384 Stickminer Official Support Thread on: October 07, 2015, 11:32:16 PM
First time I had a problem.  Was not the compacs fault though.  It appears my RPI lost power and rebooted.

Is there any kinda scrypt to use to automatically start once it's started to GUI on RPI?  That would fix the power issue I had.  Which again is my power not the USB's fault.
5820  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BITMAIN AntRouter R1: 1st wireless networking device with bitcoin mining chip on: October 07, 2015, 11:30:24 PM
As many said some China recepticals can look like 2 prongs but they are bent to side.  Look at top of following picture:

So it really is possible it looks straight for transport and goes to side once opened.  I wish the review cybtc did would have covered it.

Err. That's an Australian plug. But upside - down.

Are you sure it is not?  There are many sources showing one going sideways - http://www.chinaspree.com/china-tour-plugs-outlets.html

Just googling it many pop up.  It could be wrong but appears many sites back it.
