5801  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Assistance required interpreting Pool user statistics on: September 10, 2017, 06:36:51 PM
I am just starting to learn mining, I try google and it gives me heap of irrelevant information and a headache unfortunately which is how I ended up here, People seem friendly and very knowledgeable which I hope would be a good resource to help understand this more as I am very interested in expanding my knowledge on the subject.

I am using a GekkoScience2Pac BM 1384 stickminer, I have been directed to use Cgminer and I am using Windows OS.

If you have a GekkoScience stickminer, connectionto a pool that shares block reward is useless.  You  wont make anything.
It's going to take you 162 thousand days to make one bitcoin... or never.  Pool stats are meaninless to you unless you manage to submit a result with "bestshare"  922 billion in which case you have probably solved a block.  This would only benefit you if you were running on a solo pool though... such as ck's solo pool.

The hashrate is calculated based on the difficulty and the number of blocks found in a given period of time so hours, days, months.
Luck is calculated based on the probability of solving a block.  Solving more blocks than the probablistic average translates to greater than 100% luck.  This can also be calculated for hours, days, months... Can't explain more as i have to board my flight.

I saw that same image last night and rushed outside only to see clouds.  I saw the most beautiful display about 11 years ago and I've been waiting to see them again ever since.
Some day if bitcoin continues to cooperate, I'm going to take a trip to Alaska... Or Finland... Maybe both!

An Economic Analysis of the Bitcoin Payment System

Bitcoin is not regulated. It cannot be regulated.

The regulation concerns fiat currency rather than Bitcoin.

Well I was prepared to attend the icygreen show just to get my 10% but I didn't see a reply to my post inquiring about it.
What are you a Bitcoin Busker?

I had considered sharing details of my show/identity but when I interpreted your remarks as belittling,  "The Icygreen show" and "bitcoin Busker" I decided anonymity on this forum was in my best interests.

Sorry, Bitcoin Street Performer it is.

I started to think perhaps it was the money that turned you into a douche but I see from your early posts slagging others isn't a new thing. Congratulations on becoming the first on my ignore list.

Well it's painfully obvious you aren't a Busker but I still would have supported a fellow Canadian and come.to your show.  Thanks for the public flogging.

Great to see a couple Canadians bang it out like this. Such a fiery people.

edit: Fixed.  Sorry!

I've just finished my 3 week show with the "Bitcoin Accepted Here + 10% discount" sign. No transactions unfortunately. Only met 2 other holders and they weren't using it as a payment method but rather trading a portion and holding another. I learned that the majority of the population has heard of bitcoin somehow but have no idea what it is or where to start and probably don't care enough or have the time to research it.
About 1 percent were curious or knew someone with bitcoin and several people took photos of the sign for their teenage sons.

My neighbor became curious about BTC and eventually downloaded a wallet. I agreed to buy some small amount for her but it never happened and I didn't want to push it but rather I gave her some sources to start learning from.
I believe bitcoin is still in the very early adopters stage and I don't see bitcoin becoming a popular method of payment anytime soon and perhaps that will be the last thing it becomes.  On the other hand, credit card "Tap" transactions are becoming wildly popular.

It was great to have so many ATH's during the show backing up my argument and a sweet Labor day discount.

Looks like the train is pulling away again and my recent buys are looking good at bitstamp $4550

5811  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: How does freeze option works in electrum ? on: September 03, 2017, 01:30:30 AM
It's similar to the coin control feature in the Bitcoin Core wallet.
It is a handy feature for sure.  Say you have a bunch of addresses with small amounts of Bitcoin and you want to consolidate those into one address.  You would freeze addresses that don't contain small amounts and then create a transaction to spend the total minus the fees into a new address.  The addresses you have frozen will not be used in the transaction whereas, if you hadn't frozen them, they might have been selected as the wallet will tend to create a tx using the fewest addresses possible.  By freezing the other addresses, the wallet has no alternative to using many addresses with small amounts for your new transaction.

That looks like it is base64 encoded.  Decoding it might be a start but I would imagine it's some sort of password hash which isn't going to help you too much.

You should stop yourself now before you wind up committing the unpardonable sin.... wouldn't that suck?

If you think for yourself, you go to hell!

Nice religion you nutjobs have,

Cool

No, we can do all the thinking we like.  Speaking profanely is the problem.  Nutjobs - lol.

Ok I've missed out on a lot of this increase. Just got back from hospital with our newborn baby boy. Shattered and on top of the world but also what makes it even better is a nice btc price!!

Now sleep.

Congratulations to the three of you!!

Good luck with the sleep... its a very difficult time to sleep..

(when BTC is knocking on new ATHs I mean  Grin)

Difficult time to sleep with all the new ATHs indeed, and the newborn won't help a bit in that department. On the other hand, some positive thinking is in order. You will be able to check the price more often when it's your turn to wake up at night.

Congrats indeed, daddy!   Cheesy

 lol

Ah, a chip off the old block(chain)?  Congratulations!  It's a life-changing even but extremely rewarding.

Will GOD worthy to be Praise or Not?

Please answer Clearly stating your point of view.

Clearly, you should have read Matthew 12:31-32 before making this post.

31 Wherefore I say unto you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: but the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men.
32 And whosoever speaketh a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but whosoever speaketh against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, neither in the world to come.

You should stop yourself now before you wind up committing the unpardonable sin.... wouldn't that suck?

Let everything that has breath praise the Lord.

So true, my friend.

Thanks for those stats!  I hadn't seen them presented so succinctly.
