5821  Economy / Economics / Re: I think I found the perfect way to schedule a massive pump on: May 29, 2014, 04:48:20 AM
Ok hear me out. If a whale wants to announce a pump anonymously, he can make a long expensive post on http://bitcoinmegaphone.com announcing the date and time.

If the post is long enough (ie, expensive enough) people will know he's actually a whale and is serious. Then the post's permalink will get spread around the internet, helping to ensure the pump has a good chance of happening.

Thoughts?

This sounds like a self-plug for the site... because in the real world this wouldn't matter at all. Someone could just as easily sign a transaction from a wallet with thousands of BTC and post it on the forums.
5822  Economy / Lending / Re: Looking for 0.14 BTC Loan - Repaid in one week. on: May 29, 2014, 04:44:40 AM
*3% Total interest on loan

3% weekly is not enough for my taste.

If you raise to 5% you get me.  Smiley

That's as high as im going to go period. Truth of the matter is I don't really need to do this, but I would like the BTC earlier so im willing to pay a little more. On top of that, I want to grow a trust relationship with the community because im in this for the long haul and I would like to make a name for myself here. As you, and everyone else here knows; everybody has to start somewhere!

If you, or anyone else here decides to take this loan, I will send a $5 Amazon gift card / code upon successful completion of the transaction just for taking a chance on me.

I'd do it if it weren't for the escrow situation. I'm a bit wary of bringing in third parties myself (nothing personal, monbux).

The Dogecoinburger is #1 on a vote to be included in Britain's McDonalds menu for a week!
https://myburger.mcdonalds.co.uk/detail/5380e10543e1a

That is, community remains our core value.  Smiley

I put in my vote! I wonder why they didn't just go with Doge though instead. "McDoge" sounds better than "McDogecoin."

I think mainstream media is going to be the way to promote this coin..  The cryptocurrency 'scene' is pretty incestuous and skeevy.  What we want is to target the average Wired reader.

Cater to colleges as well. The students there are usually more apt to wanting to join projects like this (the curing cancer). It would also be good to try to work into some of the cancer-research hospitals for the same reason.

Plus many college students have laptops / desktops and need some money. I agree we should try to hit up general news sites but also try to hit up the colleges.

I have permission from SLC utah to host a race for the cure also. but trying to piggy back on a couple other races that already exist. to save some fund money for future events.
And still working with fox 13 and channel 2 news to do a story for us.

If you manage to get the news to do a story, that's pretty big. Has anyone attempted to get this on to TechCrunch and MSN/Yahoo yet?
not yet but now i must try lol

For TC, you'll need to submit a "tip" to them explaining what makes CureCoin special. If there's a press release written up, that will help as well.

ill get the press release first then Wink

Awesome. For direction purposes, make sure it's based on how CC helps; not how it brings in revenue. They are more about the projects that make a difference than the ones that can help people make a quick dollar. Skimming over the reward structure isn't bad, but should not be the focus of it.
5825  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Need estimate for my project | Crowdfunding | BitPoolClub on: May 29, 2014, 04:18:58 AM
I'm interested in following along as well. My questions are:

1) Do you already have a business plan?
2) Do you have a developer (or firm) already chosen?
3) How is the site going to earn money? You said if each person bets 0.001 BTC, the winner gets 0.002. Where does the site get money?
4) Why crowd-fund instead of trying to turn it into a business?

1)Yes, i hav a bussiness plan
2)Not now,first i need funding then i will hire a developer
3)Player 1 bets with 0.001 and player 2 bets with 0.001 total=0.002BTC.if player 1 will win the match then he will get 0.002BTC  and player 2 will have nothing. There will be option to play with computer by betting. If player bets 0.01 BTC for the match and player will win the match then he will get 0.02btc and if he loss then it have nothing and this is earning for site too. Also there will be little fees for playing matches.Tournaments also be included
4)I don't have much money to turn it to businesa

Is the image in the first post something you created, or is that just an example of another game?
5826  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [DVC]DevCoin - Official Thread - Moderated on: May 29, 2014, 04:17:38 AM
I didnt suggest that you work harder, I know what goes into building custom functions into a site.

I suggested a public Beta testing period. (I would add to that a formal bug/error reporting process and changelog but that's not everyone's thing, depends if you rather deal with individuals or reports from individuals)

Utilise your users as your testing base, slip them a few free DVC bids as thanks and keep the whole thing in testing until you know it's good to go.

imagine the drama involved if this timer was to have an error just as that mining rig gets to 0...I dont believe the crypto community is forgiving enough to accept those kinds of mistakes.

We already had a testing period where we did all this. This was due to new features being implemented.. but as of now seems like everything is all setup.. I dont see any new major changes coming except the wholesaler feature which doesnt affect the auctions.. Lets go with it as our first auction is about to close.. if we notice these timer issues or other issues with bidding we can go off into beta mode again.. but we had a full month of that already and ironed out all of the payment and bidding bugs before.

Ranlo, You were almost done seo right? I think setting up fb twitter and googleplus can still be done even if its in beta mode although I think we are passed beta.

SEO was already completed on the existing auctions, Smiley. I'll go ahead and work on the social things.

As for having everything ready. I have 2x 42 inch screens we can set up with a computer. then have one showing how proteins fold. and the other scrolling through random facts and graphs showing where this coin is going. I am thinking of doing curecoin business cards with a redemption code on the back for 1 curecoin. And the links to the websites. anyother ideas? We could play guess that protein or something to win a t shirt but sounds kinda lame ha. still waiting to hear back about a speech though.

Lame things with prizes still pique interest. That's always a plus. Even if it's something people laugh about, that's great; it means they are thinking/talking about the project!

I like the idea of the business cards as well.
5830  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ๑۩۞[ANN][ ₭ARM] Karma & Karmashares // New Yahoo-powered search engine for Karma on: May 29, 2014, 03:40:13 AM
Agree - A little trick I use for judging whether a pump consists of Many people buying as opposed to a couple of big buys, or whether it is sustainable to keep going up ; Is to look at the time between orders. If you see say 15 orders at the same time it is a one person buy up, if you then see nothign for several minutes at a time or longer then you can be sure it is just one  or a handful of people acting.

What we see with Karma is a trickle of orders, with a lot of time in-between. Occasionally, due to artificial lack of supply (people holding them in Karmashares or in their wallets) as opposed to genuine scarcity (the coin is still being mined by the 100s of millions each day) the price spikes when say 100 LTC is bought - this is NOT a sign that the coin is going "to the moon" - its a correction that must occur to keep the price and reward from mining Karma in check with the price on Mintpal. Karma is currently being hit with ASICs which is forcing the nethash up drastically - this means in order for the coin to be moderate profitable to mine the price must 'correct'.

It will interesting to see what happens from here - I predict it will level out with low volume and people will start to realise it aint going anywhere, that is when the first 20 or 30LTC sell will be placed which sparks the chain reaction down due to lack of substantial buy support.

Id be surprised if it goes much lower than 47 - although sometimes a coin will in fact dump even lower than the previous stable threshold due to people losing confidence in the buy support e.g. "shit, it failed to break X litoshi again, time to go down."

Fun and games whatever happens.

The other thing to look at is news. What new information has come out over the past, say 48h? Nothing.

We will most definitely see REAL pumps later when the projects start going "live," but this isn't the right time.
5831  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is it smart to make a Bitcoin Faucet on: May 29, 2014, 03:35:26 AM
I've been using a coinbase wallet for my faucet collection. If I were to open another account with coinbase and send my faucet earnings there, would I be hit with a transaction fee when I try to cash out? I have about .12 BTC in there. From what I understand coinbase to coinbase transactions have no fee. Would the .12 still be considered many small deposits or a full .12 deposit in the new account?

Yep, there are no fees so 0.12 would be fully transferred. Also, if you transact more than 0.001 BTC to any non-coinbase address, coinbase will pay the transaction fee for you!

You mean 0.01 BTC, but yes, CB will pay all the transaction fees even if going to an external address.

What I want to point out, though, is that it may not actually go through. I've had to break down transactions in the past because they kept rejecting due to the number of inputs. You might need to do 0.04x3, for example.

It Sucks ever having to get the fuzz involved with CC because its just one more thing for the bad press to latch onto, so it kind of pisses me off. However the - balance bs pisses me off too, soo, Exchanges better get their shit together.

This is what I am seeing from Cryptsy right now, historically, once you start seeing this, eventually it never goes back one day,..

500 - Internal Server Error

I've never seen an error 500 with their site. I do agree that there are a lot of things that need dealt with (and I think they should be done BEFORE joining the USD market), but they are still one of the more popular exchanges.

I hear you bro. Crime and get-rich-quick speculation have certainly changed the mentality here. You used to get some cred for starting a new project. Now you get trolled; and success is only measured in how many BTCs you can convert to fiat. The extreme greed shown here is proof that bitcoin has become money.

I haven't even been around as long as a lot of people and I've already seen this change as well. It used to be about community and closeness. Now people screw over their own friends to get ahead and make a little extra money. The entire dynamic has completely gone downhill compared to where it once was.

congratulations we just broke half a million dollars market cap and number 35 crypto coin list. Grin

Yeah, I didn't expect the price to go up this high. The volume is still low, though, so I'm sitting here hopeful it'll drop back down so I can buy more, :p.

yeah I think it has something to do with people fleeing darkcoin because it forked, many people probably had the wrong impression that only low hash coins can get forked...
that and all the new money that has come into bitcoin lately.
one of the golden rules of stock market trading is that if a stock rises on no news then it will usually gradually float back to where it was originally.
I'm not too worried, I made a nice little bundle out of todays excitement and I am more than happy that my coins are being spread around amongst new people.
people who will hopefully stick around and add to the community.

I also sold 174,500,000 Coins today from 66 (20% above my original buy in) up to 96. Only a mug would hold their coins when a pump like this comes along - We saw what happened before, massive 300% rise and then a drop day on day until 33 Litoshi, the previous stable point. We will eventually drop back down to 47-49 Litoshi. The secret is to "buy the rumor and sell the news" - Karm was just fine yesterday at 47 Litoshi - it has not suddenly become God's gift to mankind nor has it suddenly become widely known - its a big ol' pump and the dump will hopefully not be to brutal on those who bought at 96 but it will come. Even DRK has dumped down to the previous stable threshold of 0.01 after its rise to 0.0268. Don't make the mistake I did and hold on the all time highs - great chance to make more Karma when it dumps.

EDIT: I am aware of one person in particular who pumped 140 LTC into Karma starting at 51 Litoshi 2 days ago in order to try and make back what he lost on Blackcoin - be aware that most people are not buying because they believe in the coin, rather because it presents a rather tasty opportunity to make a quick profit to reinvest in one of the big coins such as DRK (which is extremely low right now as it is).

That just seems to be the way Crypto traders work. PND was the last example of this occuring in the Litecoin market.

I have the feeling we're going to see a drop down to lower 40's due to a massive dump. Were there a lot more volume I think it would be more sustainable, but the fact is that we have very little still (at least on Cryptsy) so the drop is going to be fast and hard.
5837  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Motocoin - Proof of Play cryptocurrency. IMPORTANT: Update your wallet!!! on: May 29, 2014, 03:09:52 AM
People who buy this should play and see for themselves...price should be 10x that.

I've tried playing it many times but I apparently don't get it. I keep spawning in places where there's like nowhere to go, and sometimes the fall distance itself takes up 1/3 the time you have to complete it all. I guess I just don't get the game.

Losing private keys must really suck, but I see your point. Isn't there someway to protect it?

Yes.

Create backups.

Take personal responsibility?
No, I insist someone protect me from my own many forms of laziness. Make it law.

Store all your BTC on Circle (when/if they open) and your wish may or may not be granted!

the current prices that bitcoin are at right now...

Current prices?

You can get 1,725 microbitcoins for $1
difference between microbitcoin and bitcoin is? or are they the same? i'm noob...sources say 1 btc = $578 right now...

1 microbitcoin is just an easier way to say 0.000001 btc.

That way you don't have to pronounce all those zeros (or remember how many of them there are).

0.001 BTC = 1 millibitcoin (mBTC)=  100,000 satoshi
0.000001 BTC = 1 microbitcoin (µBTC) = 100 satoshi
0.00000001 BTC = 1 satoshi = 0.01 microbitcoin (µBTC)

So, for $1, you can get about 172,500 satoshi, which is the same as saying 1,725 microbitcoin (µBTC), which is the same as saying 1.725 millibitcoin (mBTC), which is the same as saying 0.001725 btc.

From science, here are what they mean:

Micro (u) - millionth
Milli (m) - thousandth

That's an easier way to remember it. So 1k uBTC is 1 mBTC. 1k mBTC is 1 BTC.
5840  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Faucet sites, leak this! on: May 29, 2014, 02:54:32 AM
Stop using "solve media", it sucks. Use reCAPTCHA instead. Just a view from a site user.

They use it because the owner/admin is paid for the advertising.

Yeah, and the worst part about this is that from some quick searches, it looks like the faucets only get around $0.30-0.35 per 1000 solved captchas. They are basically bothering their users for less than pennies.

I will say that I like the image solving ones more than the "try to decipher this unintelligible text" ones though.
