Well you have some interesting information. I don't believe there were anywhere near 1200 Bitcoins held in bASIC-mining. Just going from memory here - There was a fund for purchasing new equipment that contained ~230 Bitcoins (we could watch this amount grow because creative kept it in one address), beyond that, the company owned outdated GPUs (which had become worthless for Bitcoin mining as the difficulty was too high) and other mining equipment which wasn't worth it's purchase price any more but it was still counted as company assets based on the purchase price. It was tiny compared to kslaughter's endeavour.

I'm pretty sure that's not an alias - that's his brother.
and I'm pretty sure you didn't bother to read his rap sheet. BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION
MDOC Number: 781538 SID Number: 1390377K Name: BRETT MICHAEL CORLEW Racial Identification: White Gender: Male Hair: Brown Eyes: Brown Height: 5' 11" Weight: 160 lbs. Date of Birth: 10/03/1969 (46) BRETT MICHAEL CORLEW Image Date: 3/26/2013 MDOC STATUS Current Status: Parolee Supervision Begin Date: 10/21/2014 Assigned Location: Lake/Baldwin/TRV Supervision Discharge Date: 10/21/2016 Security Level: Date Paroled: 10/21/2014 ALIASES ERIC ALLEN CORLEW MARKS, SCARS & TATTOOS None PRISON SENTENCES ACTIVE Sentence 1 Offense: Operating Intoxicated/Impaired/Controlled Substance - 3rd Minimum Sentence: 1 year 11 months 0 days MCL#: 257.6256D Maximum Sentence: 5 years 0 months Court File#: 1211370-FH Date of Offense: 11/20/2012 County: Kent Date of Sentence: 03/21/2013 Conviction Type: PleaThis is a court document, at the time of his trial it was established that he used ERIC ALAN CORLEW as an alias. He probably did that because he had prior convictions and so he needed to use his brothers ID to register the business, have it listed on the exchange and borrow money etc. They both lived in the same house and the business was run from there so either Brett was involved OR they both were. Either way there is enough evidence to go to the authorities with and so the courts can decide whether it was ERIC or BRETT who actually ran the company and defrauded their investors. They probably still live in the same house. This is a clear cut Fraud case so there is no longer any need to hunt the guy down and confront him.. the law can take it from here now that the facts have been established and the recent rise in the price of BTC only makes it more likely that they will. The SEC has already made it plainly clear that selling unregistered shares falls under their jurisdiction. You're right, I didn't read over Brett's rap sheet - I don't think we considered the possibility that he might have used Eric's name though strangely, much later, another member of the forum identified some images of Brett I had posted as being the one he dealt with and I put if off as genetic similarity mainly because we had also been in contact with Eric's ex-wife. She claimed to know his whereabouts but she declined to help us locate him and she seemed to know he was trying to hide. Also, I remembered Eric celebrating his birthday (before any shit went down) so if Brett was trying to run bASIC mining as Eric, it was an elaborate ruse. As far as the fraud - while it may seem clear cut, the operator (Ethan Burnside) of the exchange that listed bASIC mining was fined by the SEC and barred from trading but they apparently didn't dig any deeper since nobody else was sanctioned over this. If Burnside took any personal information from the guys who listed their companies, why weren't they also sanctioned? A small number of them were able to move to other exchanges even.

I hope one day we find this guy. bASIC-mining was a scam by creativex and he should pay for his crimes.
Hi guys, just an update.. I found the guy, ERIC ALLAN CORLEW was just an alias. Is real name is BRETT MICHAEL CORLEW he was convicted in 2013 of drug offences and released in 10/21/2014. https://www.rapsheets.org/michigan/doc-prisoner/CORLEW_BRETT/781538At the time of his disappearance the company was worth about 11,100 BTC that would be about 47 million dollars in today's money. https://tradeblock.com/blog/bitcoin-mining-public-companiesI have a background in investigative case management so I can put together a quick brief against this guy and send it to the authorities. Is anyone still around who was part of the initial evidence gathering against him? I can't remember the site that was set up to collect information. It would be handy if we had that. I invested quite a few BTC in this company and ill probably never get it back because he likely spent it all on drugs and booze but I'd like to see him convicted for his crimes. Because he is a convicted criminal, the authorities will know how to find him. I'm pretty sure that's not an alias - that's his brother. His mother Stephanie Anne Corlew died in 2014 - here is a link to the memorial page. http://www.stegengafuneralchapel.com/obituaries/Stephanie-Corlew/#!/Obituary and another here http://www.lifestorynet.com/obituaries/stephanie-a-corlew.100779 The brother has had several run-ins with the law. As far as we were able to find out, Eric was just a dickhead with a gambling problem who had problems paying his alimony and various other debts.

However, if I were to have the private key of a coin, wouldn't the person or in this case, CoinBase, also have access to that Private Key, in turn also having access to that Bit Coin? So I guess what I'm asking is if we both have the Private Key for a bit coin, what stops them from using it.
And that's why you shouldn't store your coins in a third party service. You should be the ONLY one having access to your private key. Or do the Private Keys change when sent through the Block Chain. Again, this is a concept that I am very fuzzy on. Thanks in advance.
Neither your private key or address changes. Your static private key will always control your static address. I appreciate the response. Say I do not use CoinBase at all, and I choose to buy my bitcoin from a site like LocalBitcoin. Wouldn't the seller that I buy from also have access to the BitCoins private key from before he sold it to me? Probably (unless he is using a 3rd party exchange), but once the transaction is confirmed into the blockchain, that address will be lighter by the number of coins he sent to your address which only you control.

I just did a test transaction of 1 mBTC with an attached a fee of only 12 sats per byte to verify a new electrum wallet. It was a pretty standard 224 byte tx and I sent it via Blockchain.info. I was about to walk away for a few hours when I saw the electrum screen had changed slightly and now had a block height in the window beside the transaction. The first confirmation only took 3 minutes! Three minutes with 12 sats per byte!?!? SWEEEET! Bitcoin is better than ever. MOON!

@Meuh6879 Excellent! I did notice something like that but now I have a second confirmation which makes me more comfortable. And, by the way, I love the GIFs you are always able to find. I plan to buy alot of machines from them on the 30th so trying to make sure every thing is ok before I do. also does anyone know if they crypto only ? they dont seem to mention payment methods.
https://canaan.io/ Yeah, that's where to buy an Avalon. I don't know why these high-tech companies have such shitty-looking web sites. I guess they're all about efficiency.

Slightly different tone that previously. ![](https://ip.bitcointalk.org/?u=https%3A%2F%2Fi.imgur.com%2FyHg3iAx.png&t=663&c=CPiNZ86Mqxorwg) We need a proof of work change. How low do you think that will drop us? I think some Bitcoin proponents have entered the 3rd phase of obsession: 3. Aggressive Stage: This stage typically starts when either previously “successful” attempts at controlling you have failed; or you end the relationship. At this point, the perpetrator ups the ante. They may threaten suicide if you don’t acquiesce to their demands. They may disrupt your life by calling your home, boss, or friends. They may suddenly show up uninvited. They may alternate between pleas to reunite and vows of vengeance. For some desperate or disturbed individuals, the behavior can escalate to stalking, threats, or physical violence. exerpt from: If I can't have you, no one can. If I was a Bitcoin 'player' I think I'd retire and develop my model train set instead.
Everyone's so unbelievably emotional and hyper twitchy that if you move your Johnson one inch too far to the left it's interpreted by others as categorical evidence of your being purchased by Bilderberg.

'bout to smash the ATH! I am hype for this final leg up
Huh? Final?! I think this is going to be the local final leg up with a fierce rally to ~$10k, until a serious market correction or really an interim bear market. I have a feeling $10k is going to be reached before the new year, but then we'll have to "pay" for it Thanks for the explanation. I don't think there is anything the value can do after running up to 10k to make us pay for it... Unless we are buying from here on up and then it tanks. I welcome any and all increases in value as well as the occaisional healthy correction.

Hi,
if I understand correctly BTC has a 21M cap as far as the total circulation is concerned and at the same time is PoW type of crypto, so it needs constant mining. So, how are the miners going to be rewarded after all 21M BTC will be already in circulation? What am I missing here?
On the other hand, ETH has unlimited circulation, so it's inflationary by nature. Right now it's PoW type of crypto, but it's supposed to switch to PoS at some time in the future, so my understanding is that ETH holders will be rewarded just for possessing the crypto and no more mining will be needed. How would the switch between PoW and PoS work exactly?
Thanks!
you're missing the transaction fees.

Just had my bank call me asking for more information about some wire transfers to bitstamp over 3 months ago. It appears western union contacted the bank to make more inquiries. Western union starting to get nervous or the pressure is tightening...... BULLISH
It's day 5 at my show and I've had the "BTCitcoin accepted here + 10%discount" sign posted but no transactions yet. Surprisingly not as many inquiries as I had thought or holders. Still in very early adoption apparently and too complicated for most although probably magnitudes easier to understand than fiat value. Goal is 1 transaction before the show end. 10 more days.
A person with Bitcoin might see the 10% discount sign and realize they stand to make more than that by hodling for another day. By the way, what and where is the icygreen show?

Guys, i had 100 bitcoin on polo and made sure, that i didn´t lend out on 01.08. 13:16 UTC, and transfered all to my exchange account before that date, on 31.07.2017.
I got 3.8 BCC credited for my 100 bitcoin !
Turns out, that my lending on Polo went on through that time (history-lending). So, the person who lended from me has 96.2 BCC, which is a lot of money, as of now. I suspect it´s employees of polo, they can´t keep their fingers off of it.
Careful with polo, guys !
Are you sure you don't have 3.8 Bitcoin because Polo?
