5821  Economy / Speculation / Re: **WHALES ARE ACTUALLY BUYING....NOT SELLING** on: March 17, 2018, 05:27:25 AM
If you follow those wallets, not the Whales themselves, the chance that you're a step late to Buy or Sell is High.
But still, you won't fall as a victim of their P&Ds.
5822  Other / Meta / Re: Developers, please add bookmarking ability for the post and threads on: March 16, 2018, 01:38:03 PM
Why don't you just use your browser's bookmark feature?
Chrome, Opera and Firefox in particular have the "cloud save" feature which synchronize all your bookmarks among all of your supported devices.

Or, Go to your Profile->"Notifications & Email" and disable "Automatically watch topics after replying to them".
This way, you can manually add those useful threads to the "watchlist" shortcut above. (You have to "unwatch" the old topics you previously replied, though)
5823  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Can't use old seed phrase in updated Electrum on: March 16, 2018, 12:45:27 PM
Update: Just solved my problem.

For those who had the same issues as me, since I was able to log into my old wallet on my old computer, I was able to export the private keys there and sweep the private key containing my bitcoin into my new wallet.
Or, you could have just copied the wallet file from the old computer and paste it to the new one.  Undecided
Importing just the Private keys will make your new wallet incapable of creating electrum seed for future backup, in case of losing your original seed and old PC's drive.

This newbie user Longman just copied two paragraphs from a Forbes article.

5825  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: IS XMR MONERO is asic resistant on: March 16, 2018, 07:15:42 AM
please tell me what are the ASIC resistant coins

example, your body is bacteria resistant, but some bacteria get inside your body, so even though your body is bacteria resistant some get inside and the same thing applies to monero and other coins, they are asic resistant but some asics gets inside it.

What the coins need is a permanent vaccine x asics.
So basically, Bitmain is a SuperBug (Extremely Drug Resistant Bacteria) Colony.

And recently, it unleashed a new bacteria with a powerful new strain called Antminer X3 - CryptoNight 220KH/s (already soldout).
Goodluck to Monero and Electroneum Miners out there.
5826  Other / Meta / Re: Unofficial list of (official) Bitcointalk.org rules, guidelines, FAQ on: March 15, 2018, 07:27:43 AM
Hello bitcointalk users.

Is it allowed to have 2 or more account, use them from one PC and IP, and participate in different bounty campaign?
Theoretically,
Having an alt or more accounts is allowed.
18. Having multiple accounts and account sales are allowed, but account sales are discouraged.
But if any one of those got banned, the others mustn't be used for ban evasion.
Quote from: mprep
25. Ban evasion (using or creating accounts while one of your accounts is banned) is not allowed.[e]
And Signature Campaign Managers doesn't allow alts within their campaigns because of numerous obvious reasons including spam, merit abuse and cheating.
Having alts may not be against the rules, but those "cheating practices" will likely get you red trust tagged by DT members.
So Alts, the way you want to use them is not allowed.

As a newbie, make sure to prioritize learning and ask questions in the Beginners & Help Board instead of replying spam just to increase your activity.
And take note:
Quote from: mprep
1. No zero or low value, pointless or uninteresting posts or threads. [1][e]

2. No off-topic posts.
Spam is not allowed in this forum.
5827  Economy / Speculation / Re: Copper - the forgotten hedge against inflation on: March 15, 2018, 06:09:27 AM
Let's make a copper backed coin called Ceruloplasmin.
Businesses that requires ICO funds Scammers will actually buy that idea.
Ceruloplasmin Coin (CPC)
"Every CPC token you hodl is equivalent to 1 ton of copper, 10% will be donated to charity"
5828  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Asrock’s plans to enter the GPU mining market on: March 15, 2018, 03:51:07 AM
Not meh, that's quite good.
According to the market flow: More competition, less price.

It stated "GPU Mining Market", are they planning to make mining algorithm optimized no display GPUs?
That will cut off lots from the price tag.
(reading the article atm)

-edit-

Meh, it said "may"
They are planning to sell Video Cards, that's normal for an expanding manufacturer.

That's the Raw transaction in HEX format.

5830  Economy / Speculation / Re: Why we may be stuck in the current range for long on: March 14, 2018, 05:42:07 AM
I suspect we are going to have to cope with extreme volatility until a lot of major issues are resolved

Trump vs. Clinton
The reduction in power of the Rothschilds

Explain!

I am not watching news or TV. I thought Trump vs. Clinton is decided? Trump won.
When I hear Rothschild, I feel sick. What ya mean by reduction of power? Sounds good to me.
Based on what he said "and so on.........." it must be a timeline of events that affect traders' decisions.

But I don't think that Trump vs Clinton presidential election made a huge impact to the 2017 Q4's Bubble.
The ATH was brought by (in order) the Forks (more are buying BTC and withdrawing those out of exchanges to get more forked coins), News about being maintream and FUD brought by the crazy price surge.

.....and the uncontrollable spam in the Bitcoin Discussion Board,
for example: Will you still buy at 17k?/20k? - with 100 Replies like: bdsbx rberbYESbdbsajdsd snd!

Meta Board: Raise merit requirements at the lower and highest ranks (@theymos)
  • Legendaries: Ranks don't matter (Please don't)

hahah, I see what you did there.

I agree to increase the Merit requirement for the lower ranks but the higher ranks are partly debatable.
Once I said:
Perhaps, since spam has been being brought by bounties, and 0 merit to become a Jr Member to be able to join Altcoin bounties can be achieved by spamming, +5 merit should be required for newbies to become Jr and increase the Member merit requirement.

5832  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Why are ASIC miners so loud? on: March 13, 2018, 08:35:54 AM
Can someone tell me what the mechanical function of an Asic miner that causes the high pitch sound? Is there any way to make it quiet - perhaps some lube?
I can't tell if you are referring to the fan's noise because you said "high pitch".
Usually, what's noisy with ASICs are the Fans especially S4 and above, but that isn't high pitched noise. (Something like ZzZuuu~.....)

If it is really a high pitch sound, some transformers somehow emit that and most human ears can't hear it.
So basically, that sound should have came from the ASIC's Powersupply if it was really high pitched.

When you immerse the miner in oil do you remove the fan or just slow it down or do you just immerse the heatsink?
The fans should be removed.
It will remove the noise but that's a meticulous job. Also not recommended for hot places.
5833  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Smart Ring Hardware wallet on: March 13, 2018, 06:51:10 AM
I just chose a design in the site, not bad considering the material is wood. Just being curious.

However, people who constantly spending funds aren't using hardware wallets to send the funds but mostly their mobile phones installed with lightweight or 3rd-party wallets.

Something like this (according to the future plan) must be built on a 3rd-party service like a crypto-version of Paypal.
Example* Merchants can accept Bitcoin through a teller device that can read these rings.
If this device works without needing to connect to a phone app, this can be a great alternative option.
This can't be done with a regular hardware wallet.

Otherwise, if this is a hardware wallet that does the same job, it is just looking more like a gimmicky or artistic version of a hardware wallet  that screaming loudly: rob me please!
5834  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: International Bitcoin's Day on: March 13, 2018, 05:16:33 AM
Why is that transaction had multiple inputs from a single address?
Those 1XPTgDRhN8RFnzniWCddobD9iKZatrvH4 input addresses are the same, so its balance must'd been totaled.
It supposed to be a single input transaction.
5835  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: what is Segwit and Legacy wallet means? on: March 13, 2018, 03:54:55 AM
To be clear, non-technical members usually call SegWit Address as SegWit Wallet.
and...
What bob123 meant was SegWit addresses can be in legacy format (Starts with 3) which is P2SH-P2WPKH address that has backward-support to standard legacy addresses.
And the bc1 (he called original) or bech32 Native SegWit address is currently not supported by other wallets and services.

Read these threads for more info: Legacy vs Segwit wallets. Whats the difference? / Difference between SegWit addresses.
5836  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: How can you cool/vent the rigs in a garage? on: March 12, 2018, 10:52:02 AM
If you want to vent out through the roof, make sure that there's an opening (air intake) at the lower level of your garage.
GPUs aren't noisy at all (except from Low Quality Heatsink Fans of substandard/old GPUs)

You need a proper airflow:
  • Hot Air (Light) - Venting out to the top area
  • Cool Air (Heavy) - Intake from the lower area, not necessarily need fans
  • Mining Rigs - as low as possible

You don't have to click "Share" images on IMGUR in order to link them here.
I did that once and I got much, much weirder comments from the users.

5838  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: why do you still support Bitcoin when it's technology is clearly inferior? on: March 12, 2018, 06:20:03 AM
Quit trolling, there's nothing inferior to Bitcoin (members already said enough).
Stop Feeding the Troll

Thunder network deployment will solve the problem of bitcoin transfer speed slow, because of the market leaders in the cryptocurrency market, each country only admit the bitcoin status, bitcoin and blockchain  are inseparable.
Thunder Network, really? You forgot to say thanks to google/translate.
Lightning Network can't do that straightforward, the services that involves bitcoin transactions needs to change the way they process their user's funds in order to utilize LN, unlike SegWit which can be done by changing user addresses to bech32.
5839  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Would you like an ICO scam alert/verify/check website? on: March 12, 2018, 05:47:51 AM
For the first parts, Yes. But,

Would you use such a website? Would you sign up for such a service?
Why would a visitor have to sign-up in order to use a website that list and review ICOs?

There are dozens of sites that does the same job, even google can tell: Google Search: ICO Scam Alert Website
Just use them for comparison, find what to improve, what to add and remove.
5840  Other / Meta / Re: Here is the quality of posts after merit system on: March 11, 2018, 09:38:46 AM
Maybe, OP wanted to tell us that most of the spam are from Ranked members rather newbies.
Partly yes but, once (alt/farmed) newbie spammers find it impossible to rank up, they might stop.
Member to Legendary spammers may eventually stop their spam business once they got listed in SMAS or campaign managers established stricter requirements.

In addition to what @FlightyPouch said, the most notable effect is now there's less newbie accounts that spam the megathreads which may not be the majority of the spammers, but still a good immediate result.
Since there aren't too much new spammers joining, something like SMAS will become more efficient by the easier filtering job.

Perhaps, since spam has been being brought by bounties, and 0 merit to become a Jr Member to be able to join Altcoin bounties can be achieved by spamming, +5 merit should be required for newbies to become Jr and increase the Member merit requirement.

What I am trying to implement into campaigns I manage is users must have merits to join. I currently am allowing users without merits to join(partially), but have started paying higher rates to users with merits. Eventually I will make it a requirement to have merits in order to join campaigns I manage. I would also like to go as far as you must earn merits each week to stay in a campaign.

If all managers do something like I mentioned above, then eventually these shit accounts are phased out and not making any money anymore rendering their accounts useless. With the merit system being fairly new, I can't go full fledged merit crazy on everyone yet. Gotta give ppl a little time to earn some.
I am curious if a Member (10Merit) made it through the next rank Full Member (+90 earned Merit) is eligible to the full member slot since his 100merit was earned, not rank default.
A Full Member with 100 merit (+90 total in the merit history) is better than a Full Member with 105 merit (+5 in the Merit History), right?
