Can't use old seed phrase in updated Electrum

I had some Bitcoin sitting in an old Electrum Wallet, version 2.6.4 that I just had sitting on my old computer. I found that I was able to log in with my 13-word seed, but I ran into an issue of it not being able to synchronize to send or receive bitcoin. I downloaded the updated Electrum on my new Macbook to the current version, 3.0.6, which solved that problem, but I was not able to log into that old wallet with my seed because it seems that newer versions of Electrum use a 12-word seed. Any ideas on how I can get my bitcoin out of that old wallet and into my new one?

Update: Just solved my problem.

For those who had the same issues as me, since I was able to log into my old wallet on my old computer, I was able to export the private keys there and sweep the private key containing my bitcoin into my new wallet.

Electrum maintains backwards compatibility with old seed mnemonics so you should have been able to restore from seed in the latest version. You probably typed the seed in incorrectly.

Update: Just solved my problem.

For those who had the same issues as me, since I was able to log into my old wallet on my old computer, I was able to export the private keys there and sweep the private key containing my bitcoin into my new wallet.

Or, you could have just copied the wallet file from the old computer and paste it to the new one.  
Importing just the Private keys will make your new wallet incapable of creating electrum seed for future backup, in case of losing your original seed and old PC's drive.

While it's true that imported keys are not backed up by a seed, you'll note that the OP actually "swept" the private keys... so he has moved the coins from old private keys onto new addresses in a new wallet (hopefully with a seed! )
