Someone mentioned "isn't there anybody more qualified".
Short answer: NO!
This is the BBC remember, and this guy is British. He probably -is- the most qualified person in the UK. And the BBC surely love to celebrate British achievements and put a British spin on things if they can. It's a very patriotic organisation.
Short answer: YES! Andrea Antonopolous. He shits on Amir and then eats him for breakfast in every facet.

Email sent to Black Arrow Customers(meaning Minersource will be affected as well): Dear Xxxxxx, We have to inform you that our schedule to manufacture and assemble the system has been disrupted and we are unable to make delivery of the Batch 1 Minion ASIC chip on the initial scheduled date (end of February). We are now expecting to dispatch all Batch 1 orders on 1st of May 2014. Please be re-assured we are confident that we have tried our best to accomplish our initial ambitious targets. However, we came to the conclusion that it is in the best interest of our customers to delay shipping in order to ensure that the product provides the best-possible user experience. Without this delay we would have achieved 1.5W/Ghash which would have meant that our chip would not have been competitive at all. We have now finalized the design process using our newly improved code and will start manufacturing the chip (tape out) in the next few days. We are happy to announce that Black Arrow Software’s products remain on target for being the best in their class for power consumption. We confirm that our latest improved design has the following technical specifications: ·0.75w/Ghash on TT corner @ 25C which is expected to run at 120Ghash/sec. ·SS corner will be 0.6w/ghash and will run at 100Ghash. ·A further underclocking and underpower should be possible and should yield 80Ghash @ 0.5W/ghash. However, please note that this is not guaranteed to work stable. Please note, that a further push for improvement in the optimization process would have guaranteed further delays for at least 1-2 months. It is no secret to us that the Bitcoin mining process is proving to be more and more difficult every day. To compensate our loyal customer for the unforeseen delay of in delivering our miners for batch 1, we are happy to offer free extra hashing power which consists of 25% of your purchased hashing power from our Rent-Some-Minions cloud program for 4 months. The account for the tape-out has been settled in full and we are confident that the delivery will be completed shortly. We are taking all the necessary measures and positive actions to expedite delivery to you as soon possible and we are confident that we have the resources to be successful. Please note: ·We estimate that the delivery for the Batch1 will coincide with the delivery of the Batch2 ·The delivery of Batch2 remains unchanged ·The one-off offer presented above is open to the customers who placed orders for Batch1 Sincerely, The Black Arrow Software Team So basically Black Arrow website customers will get free hashing power for 4 months, while Minersource customers could potentially get a hot turd in a blanket and a smack in the dick. We're awaiting word from Bobsag3(owner of Minersource) who met with Black Arrow officials to see proper compensation and/or proper refund processing. You can see the drama unfold on the main Black Arrow thread here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=294197.1600

I don't doubt this dude's knowledge of BTC and abilities as a coder, but guy doesn't look like a good public voice and face for Bitcoin. I've read his contributions to the community as a coder and BTC evangelist, but something about him just yells "Punk Bitch", when you see him in interviews. Leave the public speaking to Andrea Antonopolous, Marc Andreeson, Fred Wilson, Jeremy Liew, and the Winklevii. ![Cool](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/cool.gif)

Yes, it makes sense if you're in countries with strict customs or importing, or don't have room in your apartment, or don't have tools or power to setup an Antminer.

Haha LoL I get the point, right now there is no legit in stock ASICS... guess DIY it is for litecoin/altcoin
wtf.. do you not read.. antminers are in stock and you will be hashing in about 1 week.. Sshhh, keep your voice down. Leave the rest of the ant owners alone, we minin' ![Cheesy](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/cheesy.gif)

How about these guys? There shipping now, and in stock, promising 2 week after order shipping date. http://btcdozer.com/ 2 TH/s at 5.7 K or my litecoin rig, posted somewhere in this thread. I thought your budget was $2.5K? Go for BTC Dozer 2TH/s asic and report back with your findings! (sarcasm)

Just a thought on this one. Having recently spoken to Minersource via Skype (I'm UK-based so didn't fancy a long distance phone call), and they providing me with an update regarding my order, I generally feel quite satisfied with the response I received. That said, I heard what I wanted to hear, which was that my order was safely received, payment squared up and that my preorder from December would be delivered on 24th Feb (as promised).
However, I am still somewhat nervous about the whole affair. No longer to the point where I'm tearing my hair out... I'm starting to find it mildly comical, considering I've parted with my hard-earned cash and I may not (or may!) receive a unit by the end of the month. Who knows...
Essentially, I've got a partial fallback plan in place. I know that Minersource are based in Colorado, so in terms of protecting my business transaction with Minersource, the UK's 'Trading Standards' are unlikely to do anything about it. However, having done a bit of research into it, if the units don't turn up in a timely fashion, I will more than happily go to the Better Business Bureau and do what I can to take Minersource to the cleaners. If they don't deliver the goods, I'll make god damn sure I get my money back.
Period.
When did you call them, because nothing is shipping on February 24th. Batch 1s are delayed until May.

You have to buy the miner first if you're going for the hosting option.
So one Antminer at 1.4 BTC + 3 months hosting at .6 = 2.0 BTC

Sometimes no news is good news. All we need is more widespread adoption, and less Silk Road/Charlie Shrem type headlines. ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif)

Thanks greaterninja!
Will make a decision in next couple days.

Thought difficulty increase was typically 15%? Why 63? You're not serious right? 15% increase between now and May? Next jump in a few days is probably around 18%: http://bitcoindifficulty.com/

That's what I'm waiting for also, to hear refund policy for Minersource customers.
Who wants a measly 25% increase in hashing power in May after Cointerra and KNC hit the network? (probably same time frame)
Doesn't seem like they want to do right by their customers. If I could apply that refund towards Bitmain now or Asicminer in March/April I will in a heartbeat.

Against my better judgment. . .
Just spent 0.5 BTC on another 5 Red Fury ASICs. With my current 3, this should give me about 17.6 GH/s total.
Could have spent less at .295 BTC to do a hosted Group Buy of 1 share of Antminer/scrypt rig at 18 GH/s and 18 kH/s: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=434311.0

In the US, computer accessories have a 0% tax, so we do not have to pay anything. Delivery by UPS as any other delivery.
Some countries, such as EU/Soviet Union, etc, have relatively high customs, so they have to pay the government for import.

Sweet! Thanks, Glen! ![Cheesy](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/cheesy.gif)

To stay in the market, Black Arrow would have to match what Cointerra and KNC are offering.
Free rigs and free hosting vs. 25% more hashing power just seems paltry by comparison.

If I order through ninjatech.org delivered to the U.S., do I have to worry about any customs fees? If there's no other fees after the 1.45 BTC, I'm definitely going with Ninja over Sushi! ![Tongue](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/tongue.gif)
