5861  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Why dont bitcoin hardware manufacturers re release old equip with smaller node on: April 15, 2023, 01:24:40 AM
The smaller node is present in the latest models. And they are all targeted at industrial miners. There would be no point in releasing an S9 with S19 chips, you would end with an S19 again.

After the R4 Bitmain has not revisited the idea of a home miner, they simply don't justify the cost. So people do it on their own. Just get a damaged S19 with one working hashboard, and there you have a 1000W miner that should produce about 33TH.

This is nothing like a game console, Bitcoin miners are boring and do the exact same thing, just more efficiently. The S19 is already compatible with the same mining pools, and that's all they care about. The S9 form factor brings nothing to the benefit of mining operations. Curiously (or not, since it was formed by a former Bitmain team) it is MicroBT that has continued this form factor, so you could get one of those instead.

MicroBT repurposed s9 cases with m10 chips.

30th and 1500 watts.

I could talk about this topic a lot.

mining with 1 board s19s set to low power would mean 27th and 700 watts.

The real question is why don’t they build this but how much will it sell for.

Do not think of BTC mining cost or profits.

Think of mining as dollar per watt.

Bitmain thinks of all gear a dollar per watt they do not think that BTC is god and all other coins are shit coins.

Frankly scrypt looks like it will always produce $$ per watt.

I think bitmain attacks btc by not building 1 board s19 space heaters on purpose.
Also they restrict chips to guys like sidehack.

They want big farms to leave BTC for scrypt.

All this is future speculation. say 2056 when btc may struggle and big farms switch to L7s or maybe L 15s.

... if you remind yourself how many people still believe in $$$ (fiat) for such a long time on this planet, the a$$hole-to-bitcoiner ratio turns out clearly in their favour "favour".
Opinions are not facts ...

Well I still have issues with BTC working for hundreds of years. I think scrypt  algo with LTC/Doge is much better for a 200 year run than BTC

but yeah Fiat is on Life support.

And with me being 66 and no kids BTC only needs to do well for 20 years.

My advice which according to JJG is terrible is:

DCA

BTC and LTC and Doge

If you follow my advice and lose money do not blame me.  Why follow my advice.
5863  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Make an S9 quite? on: April 14, 2023, 04:11:21 PM
I didn't add wood, just cardboard and tape (since the exhaust fan was removed). Yes, merely blocking the extra empty space does the trick. Don't do it and it overheats. Works like magic (at least a year tested).

A definite improvement on my idea. As it is easier and cheaper.

Also do no use the apw3 psu get something like this one.

https://www.bestbuy.com/site/corsair-rme-series-rm750e-80-plus-gold-fully-modular-low-noise-atx-3-0-and-pcie-5-0-power-supply-black/6537989.p?

this is a good 1 board psu very quiet.

it can do 2 boards if you use brains  and set to low powers (under 500 watts)
5864  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: April 14, 2023, 03:58:42 PM

Good morning. In less than an hour, Wall Observer's from here will join others from around the world. And you will be launching the largest "ignore" battle in this history of Wall Observer Thread

Wall Observer -- that word should have new meaning for all of us today.

We can't be consumed by our petty differences anymore.

We will be united in our common interests.

Perhaps its fate that today is the 14th of April, and you will once again be fighting for our freedom, not from tyranny, oppression, or persecution -- but from shit posters and merit whores!

We're fighting for our right to post, without shitty re-tweets and poorly presented meme drowning us.

And should we win the day, the 14th of April will no longer be known as an "International Be Kind to Lawyers Day", but as the day when the Wall Observer Thread declared in one voice:

We will not go quietly into the night!

We will not vanish without a fight!

We're going to live on!

We're going to survive!"

Today, we celebrate our "Ignore shit posters and merit whore Day!"

I'll give up. I did what I could

Only need to ignore 5 or 6 names.

To gain experience, you can buy a small mining farm on 4x Rx470 video cards, but this is only for training. And you need to have at least a little experience with components.
Training? Training in what - how to setup a PC for mining with GPU's? Um, considering this is the Bitcoin area and using GPU's is only viable for mining alt crapcoins, that route is useless.

Aside from knowing how to deal with the heat and noise Bitcoin mining hardware is pretty much plug-n-play.

Look GPUS are perfectly fine way to mine BTC indirectly on nicehash.

I think the purity definition asked on this section is wrong.

But I do respect your right to believe in that definition.

I point 7gh to nicehash mining with gpus

makes me about 50 usd in btc a day. say 0.00151000 btc.

So gpus are a good way to make btc indirectly which this board does not approve talking about.

And dollar per watt earnings on that is decent. about 16kwatts an hour to make 0.00151 btc pre power cost.

but 5 s19's would burn 16kwatts and earn  0.001424 btc pre power cost

So to never speak of gpu mining to get btc in this section is a disservice .  In my belief system. which I hope you respect as I do respect your belief system.

It is not a pump 40k-50k is what should be todays price.

If we get to 40-50k and run to 80k or 90k that's a pump.

I would sell everything if we go to 100k in may

5871  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: April 13, 2023, 06:39:01 PM
Feels to me like there is still a great deal of buying pressure. The retest below $30K didn’t get much action and we’re already seeing new highs as buyers scoop up all the BTC they can. I think it’s safe to say the worst is behind us and we’re going to be seeing higher prices for a while now. It’s looking like there’s a good chance we’ll be above $40K by the end of the year.

The chance of 40k and up in Q2 is the same imho…

yeah 40k would be nice for may
5872  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: NiceHash Solo Miner on: April 13, 2023, 05:29:49 PM
If I hit a block using nicehash and a solo mining pool.. do I still need to keep the machines running for 10 blocks to make sure it's confirmed to me? (until it turns to spendable), or once I hit the block I can shutdown the mining machines and I'd still have it spendable after 10 blocks?

When you hit a block with ck pool the block chain release's the coins after 100 confirms or so.

you will see the block but you will not be able to move or touch the coins for 18 hours or so.

To be sure you hit and keep the block just wait for 2 or 3 confirms.

Even though you won't have the ability to use the coins they will clear down the road.

There is a small chance of a block being orphaned before a single confirmed
and smaller if 2 confirms happened.

we got a decent share on this machine

Pretty good numbers so far.

price is okay 29,964

CPI for march came out

https://www.usatoday.com/story/money/economy/2023/04/12/cpi-inflation-data-today-live-updates/11607115002/

"Consumer prices overall increased 5% from a year earlier, down from 6% in February and a 40-year high of 9.1% last June, according to the Labor Department’s consumer price index.

That’s the smallest annual gain since May 2021.

On a monthly basis, prices edged up just 0.1% following a 0.4% increase in February, resuming a previous downshift."

but core was worse

"But core prices, which exclude volatile food and energy items and capture longer-lasting trends, increased 0.4% from February following a 0.5% bump in the previous month. That pushed up the annual increase from 5.5% to 5.6%.

The report underscores that goods inflation is letting up somewhat as pandemic-induced supply chain snarls resolve and commodity prices fall but the pullback is painfully slow and playing out in fits and starts. Barclays expects annual inflation to drop to 3.3% by the end of the year, above its prior 2.9% forecast."

What will fed do with rate in may

https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2023-04-12/us-core-cpi-rises-firmly-keeping-may-fed-rate-hike-in-play

"US Core Inflation Slows Only a Bit, Keeping Fed on Track to Hike
Excluding food and energy, consumer prices rose 0.4% in March
Traders still largely expect Fed to raise rates again in May"

looks like +0.25 for early may

I think that helps BTC
