I've done a lot of javascript programming... how much are you willing to pay for said "hand holding"?
5882  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Difficulty Entering Into Market on: October 19, 2011, 05:38:08 AM
There are some cash in the mail exchanges, they're probably the best alternative if you don't want to be traced - MtGox will trace you, they are creating a database with the official IDs of all their users, that is, most bitcoin/USD traders.

Unfortunately there isn't yet enough demand for bitcoins to make buying it as easy as buying bread. And "convenient" electronic means of payment like paypal or credit cards are too dangerous to the btc seller due to reversible nature of these means of payment and irreversible nature of bticoin transactions.

So, for "small scales", either use cash in the mail, or use OTC trading and pay with paypal or bank transfers, but you'll have to deal with very small volumes until people start trusting you.

When you say that they will "trace" you by creating a database with the "official IDs" of their users, what exactly does this mean? What sort of information are the keeping? It doesn't seem like they have much to begin with...
If you want to trade above a certain volume, you have to provide them with ID in order to comply with MSB and money-laundering laws.

Hmmm...

So they create a phone that sells 4 million units in the first week, and it's called a "miss"?

This quarter has nothing to do with that why even bring that up?  You will have to wait for next quarter for that.  Yes it was a miss and a pretty bad one, when all were expecting another blowout quarter and the estimates were missed.  It already had a VERY strong run up because of hype so I wouldn't be surprised if it dropped to like $370 which is IIRC around it's 50 day moving average.

That being said although it has been rising meteorically the last few years, it still doesn't have an outrageous valuation somewhere around a 15 P/E so I'm still bullish on it.  I sold at $424 at about 3:30 expecting it would crush earnings and would still drop to around $400 since the extreme run up  prior to reporting.  Was going to buy right back tomorrow at around $400 if it dropped but now I'm going to give it a few days hope for a market pull back I'm thinking will happen until Friday at least, then try to buy in around $370.

People seem to either be saying "the sky is falling" or that "aapl had an amazing quarter in what world is a $6.6 billion profit an annual rise of 54% a miss?"   I'm in between no the sky isn't falling aapl's short term and long term fundamentals are still sound, but it was a miss and a pretty bad one IMO, the company is run by men not gods they had a misstep and it's very reasonable for people to take profits let the news digest and reevaluate the situation.

Just my opinion and worth exactly what I'm charging for it.
Sorry, I made a wrong assumption there.  Been reading so much about iPhone this and iPhone that, I naturally thought that any time anyone was talking about Apple these days, it was about the iPhone.  Especially when they talk about failure, since, some people just didn't think the 4S was going to do well.

ANYWAY, interesting that Apple missed expectations.  I wonder if it'll be the other way around next quarter?  Though I guess the sales figured are out there, so it should be pretty easy to figure out expected revenues.

You could also consider selling goods for BTC.  Just find something around the house that you no longer want, and post it up for sale.  Offer to use an escrow service so that people don't have to trust someone brand new on the forum, and you're good to go.
5886  Economy / Invites & Accounts / Re: [WTS] (NA) Leauge of Legends loaded account (All Unlocks) (Stocked/RP/IP) on: October 18, 2011, 11:19:42 PM
price question: last item i sold at an introductory price since it was my very first item with only a few hours on the forum i took a loss.

other thing: my employer has nothing to do with this ... i work at a Target.

account thing: yes i made it clear i am keeping the account safe by not exposing the details, this is a basic rule with 99% of game account/item/currency sales...

protip: contact the last buyer or the trusted member who verified my claims with any questions you may have about my legitimacy.
Cool, thanks for answering my questions.  I don't question your legitimacy, since you've already had a successful sale.  Really was just curious...  I may hit you up with a better offer later tonight.

Oh, and are you willing to use an escrow service?  Or do a partial payment, receive account, then the rest of the payment?

I would shy away from escrow since digital goods would be hard to verify (if buyer changes account details i cant prove i gave them the right ones.)  Last transaction we did half payment, then he logged into the account, verified everything, changed the login and recovery information, then completed the second part of the payment.  I am comfortable repeating this process with another trusted member.
Sounds fair enough.

I now keep my wallet closed most of the time because of Comcast's 250gig monthly limit. Bitcoin app alone can sometimes use up 7gigs in one day sharing the blockchain. Beginning of the month I try to keep it open more.
You know, I've gone way past Comcast's supposed "limit" every month for the past year, and never had a problem.  One month, even had more than 1TB of upload.  Most months it's 500-750GB.  I honestly wouldn't sweat it unless they give you a warning.

I explained to you last post as well, that I am not providing screen shots for privacy reasons.

Except you did post some screenshots of skins/champs last time.

Except i removed them after 2 minutes because i realized I was taking a stupid risk in devaluing the item.  The user who purchased the item never saw any screenshots.  Also last time you never made an offer.

Not sure why your trolling my threads, but as a moderator you should shape up a bit.
Can I ask why posting a screenshot poses a potential security/privacy risk for the account?  I mean, you black out all the important bits, so where's the risk?

Any data can be used in a reverse search on the account, so "the important bits" is everything worth taking a screenshot for.  That and my process works much better.  Screenshot are just for lookey loos.  So far the only people requesting them is a non bidder and somone offering $15 in BTC for a several hundred dollar item.
So, someone who works with the game might be able to figure out which account was sold based on, say, the RP balance at a give date/time?  Makes sense.  Really, a successful previous transaction will probably be enough for most people.

Also, how is it a several hundred dollar item?  Do you have proof of them selling for that much somewhere?  You sold the last account, which had way more RP/IP, for $200.

Well looking at the best price point for RP at the moment is $50 for 7200, so your talking about $500 for just 72k RP, which this account greatly exceeds.  That doesn't even include all the champs and skins already unlocked, the value of the limited edition ones which you can no longer get, all the IP, Runes, and rune pages.  Realistically this item translates into thousands of dollars, but given the grey market nature of the transaction I obviously don't expect face value.
Again though, what is better about this account than the last account you sold, which had 300k+ RP and IP?  If you expect to sell it for several hundred dollars, yet you sold an account with triple the amount of RP and IP for $200, surely there must be some other difference to account for the extra $100+ you plan to charge for this one.

And where/how are you getting these accounts anyway?  On the previous sale, you mentioned that you worked there (or that it was an employee account, can't remember which).  My question is, does your employer approve of reselling accounts like this?  Is there a possibility that the accounts could be banned if this were not approved, and they found out about it?  Is that more of the reason you are withholding from posting screenshots and the like?

I might pick some up if it hits $1... we'll see.

Lol...and I'le buy them back off you when they hit $0.50 Smiley Happy days.
Alright, fine, I won't.  Tongue

5895  Economy / Lending / Re: USD loan in BTC $500-$3000 6% annual rate on: October 18, 2011, 07:18:00 PM
If you don't have success, try a prosper loan.  It's pretty easy to get a loan funded there, especially for debt consolidation.  I got a loan for $5k to buy a car that I wanted to fix and resell, got 11.5% interest rate (which wasn't too great, but was far better than my interest rates on the scammy credit cards I had), and it really worked well.  The loan was fully funded by peers in just 24 hours, and I had the money in the bank in 7 days.

They offer down to 6.5% interest now (I think the minimum was 9.5% or so when I got my loan), so the service is definitely maturing and getting stronger.  If you have good credit, you should be able to get close to that rate.  And the interest goes mostly to peer investors, not banks.

EDIT:  This wasn't the purpose of my post, but I just looked to see if they had a referral program, and they do.  So if you DO want to go the prosper route, let me know so I can get you a referral link.  It's $100 bonus for referring people, and I'd be willing to give you half of it if/when you sign up.
I may try that next month.  I wanted the money to stay in this community but I also want to get it done too.
Sure, no problem.

Tawsix, SHOW US SOME CALCULATIONS already!  How many times have we asked for specifics, yet you only give a vague "it's not profitable right now" response?

Electric Bill is a key variable in his calculations. We are waiting for said variable.
How about:
- Rig specs
- Electric rate (including various tiers)
- Listing of all equipment purchased
- Listing of any equipment needing RMA

Huh

How come Tawsix refuses to provide any of this information?  It's because he has something to hide...
1. I've already asked for
2. He has already given that information earlier in this thread
3. Basically same as 1.
4. Yeah, we could use that info

He has refused to supply this information in the past, probably because he thought that he was running his rigs in some special (proprietary, shush shush) way.

He doesn't have much choice now, and if we decide to continue mining, he knows that he cannot continue to run Skepsidyne as he has, or he will constantly berated by people like you. Which isn't very good for the image of SIN.

I am tired of
1. The lack of information Tawsix has given us
2. The cynicism coming for people like you

You're not helping, so please kindly... GTFO
I am cynical because this is information that he should have provided right from the start, and it is information that is not difficult to acquire/generate.  Basically, there is no legitimate reason he could possibly have to withhold this information.  Thus, I must make the assumption that there is some illegitimate reason he is withholding the information.

I just want some answers to the questions that people have been asking all along, that's all.

I'm sorry our methods of conflict resolution do not jive.  But that's not my problem, and I'm not going to leave this thread just because you told me to.
5898  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bubble not yet popped on: October 18, 2011, 06:24:41 AM
Question is: Where is the bottom?

That's what we all want to know. Pre-gawker volumes mean price under $1, but I think that is too low. My bet goes to $1.5/$2.
Everyone said the same thing at the $16 price level, the $11, $7, $5, and $3 level.  I don't hold out too much hope of mining profitability in the near future.

Of course, given that I heat with straight up electric coils, I'll be using miners come winter weather.  It wouldn't make sense not to, no matter what the price is.
