Hi

Let me tell you one thing don't put your whole btc money in a single wallet. I recommend you to use coinbase, btc-e to store your money in these two different wallets.

Thanks

Regards

Can I tell you if you don't mind? Don't put your money in an address where you don't have access to the private key.

5884  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: [Looking] Cheap Domain Registrar with BTC on: January 10, 2015, 02:39:22 AM
Namesilo.com

This seems good. $8/mo isn't bad. They provide free WHOIS Privacy, Email Forwarding, Domain Defender Protection, Custom WHOIS Records and DNS Management, so it is a better choice. For hosting, according to the data shown there, namecheap is $4.76 more expensive than namesilo.

Seems like a lot of work for little reward. Also, the post might have been moderated away based on someone's report chronologically filed before yours, so you're effectively taking their credit.

This is a free thing, I'm just trying to promote the use of reporting. Increased the reward though, hope it is fine now. Wink I thought about it but I think there is no way for ME to check it. This reward is for reporting the post atleast they did it unlike other people!

5886  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][XCP] Counterparty - Pioneering Peer-to-Peer Finance - Official Thread on: January 10, 2015, 01:26:44 AM
This same question was posted and answered recently -

Not sure if this any of these have been posted before, I had just noticed them browsing github

Auction platform that works with counterparty assets:

Smart Contracting As A Service platform (alpha stage):

Ruby gem for communicating with a Counterparty (Bitcoin / XCP) API server:

When you transfer a Counterparty Asset, you send a dust-amount of BTC as well.

Is it possible to transfer any amount (>= dust limit) of BTC in a Counterparty transaction?

For example, an electronics store sells a TV for 1 BTC. However, if you have a discount token, you'll get the TV for 0.9 BTC + 1 discount token. Can the 0.9 BTC + token be transferred in one transaction?

usually you apply the discount at the shopping cart stage, the price is then recalculated at checkout, could be done that way but it's a little cumbersome. (Especially if the user doesn't pay in the end) I think it is possible though. see: https://wiki.counterparty.io/w/Sendmany
Maybe there has been some newer developments on that front though or a more appropriate way

usually you apply the discount at the shopping cart stage, the price is then recalculated at checkout, could be done that way but it's a little cumbersome.

One way to implement a token-based discount is that whoever owns/holds a token gets the discount. Another way (that I had in mind) requires you to transfer it back to the store. In this case it is lot more convenient to transfer both BTC and Counterparty token in the same transaction.
theoritally it's fine to replace the antidust amount sent to the recipipient with any amount larger. However, it's not implemented in the current counterpartyd yet. Maybe later we can customize the amount of BTC we sent in xcp transactions, but I am not sure whether this is really useful.

It actually is implemented, both in the CLI and the API, at a per-transaction level:

Code:
--regular-dust-size REGULAR_DUST_SIZE
value for dust Pay‐to‐Pubkey‐Hash outputs, in BTC
--multisig-dust-size MULTISIG_DUST_SIZE
for dust OP_CHECKMULTISIG outputs, in BTC

It's useful if you're making a *lot* of (similar) transactions, and want to lower your costs as much as possible. The default fee and dust values are very generous, because they have to work well in all circumstances.

Thanks! I would need counterpartyd for it and it needs whole block chain. I saw that. I was asking if it was possible inside the counterwallet or any other light wallets to do it.

I purchased 2 of the BT-Chip just prior to you releasing the nano. If I had known a new product was coming out I would have purchased the new product. Can I use the BT-Chip with the nano ledger wallet? If so can you provide a wallet card for each chip? If not, is there an upgrade option?  Huh

Thanks.

I don't think there is an upgrade option. If you really want to buy, try selling both of 'em. There may be people who are interested in buying these for testing or for real use.

Two reviews on it:
"Litecoin storage not working. Relies on china company and servers to be up and running. If they go down so due your coins"
"What a PIECE OF CRAP. Relys' on hardbit network that is always down and your coins are stuck/lost."

Source please. So I can email them and can know what's their response. Or you can do it yourself, add the source if you are doing. Smiley

P.S. I think the Android app is depending on other networks for checking the balance, UTXOs etc... and that is what users complaining about. Maybe, they should use to SPV?

Our beta app so far can only support output per TX.
But we will upgrade it to multiple outputs very soon.

That's a bit sad for me because in almost all TX, I use multiple outputs! I will have to wait then. Sad Can you tell me ETA of ALPHA/BETA testing?

Yeah I just read some comments on it and it looks like the coins are stored to their network, no way. No sole ownership of private key, no thank you.

Where did you read that? It is a false information AFAIK.

Mining, whether by yourself or cloud, ain't profitable nowadays as the Rewards will be halved to 12.5... You can try your hands on trading altcoins or arbitrage trading of BTC in order to gain some small but sure-shot gains that may meet your expectations...

What does the block reward halving have anything to do with it? The halving will very likely push up the bitcoin price so it could be a wise investment to try get as many coins as you can now.

How is that possible? Shocked You may want to change the sentence if you meant something else. Smiley

Quote from: bitcoin.stackexchange.com/questions/9458/what-determines-a-bitcoins-value
Fiat money is money that has no entity backing it other than the issuer, usually a government. When the United States dollar finally disconnected from the gold standard in 1971 it became a fiat currency. Basically the USA declared, "The dollar has value because we are 'Murica" and the world said, "OK". In actuality, the US dollar has no intrinsic value other than the fact it is issued by the United States. Most modern currencies are fiat money.

Bitcoin follows the same principle, in that its value is determined by perception. Instead of the trust of some government entity being evaluated to determine the value of Bitcoin, other factors (the technology, widespread acceptance, understanding of e-money, etc.) are taken into consideration. When magazines and online entities write intriguing articles about Bitcoin, people take interest in it, the demand goes up and so does its value v. government-back currencies. Likewise when Mt. Gox is DDoSed, a bitcoin service shutters, or $250,000 worth of BTC is stolen, people get nervous, demand drops, and so does BTC's value.

For the last point, why would you leave a negative feedback on someones Profile if you didn't trade with him ? If he scammed you then just leave a negative feedback.

There are many reasons you would for example if the user scammed anybody else, if it is a hacked account etc...

For hacked accounts & those stuff. I guess we need something like "reputation" (on profile too) to leave it on users . because they are separated things , each rank can give the following reputation :

  • Full Member : +1
  • Sr.Member : +2
  • Hero Member : +3
  • Legendary Member: +4

People would buy FM accounts and will do such thing many times. Better to remove FM from this. Roll Eyes

I am really thinking about purchasing a Hardbit wallet, any up or downsides to it? Would it better to just buy a 20$ prepaid android and sideload the bither or bitcoin app and never connect it to the network.

But we don't know what it is, like saivann said:

Quote from: github.com/bitcoin/bitcoin.org/issues/696#issuecomment-68873314
Hardbit can be submitted separately if you think it is worth listing. This being said I think there is blocking issues that would prevent it from being listed. I can't find much public feedback about it and the app indeed seems closed-source without public specification although it's not using a Secure Element, it's apparently just a Android phone with a custom ROM and it's unclear if the firmware and app receive security updates.

This can also happen. Anyway, it is worth trying if you are HODLing altcoins or just buy Ledger, IMHO.
