The second leg was boring just as I expected but Real Madrid still got another win by 1-0. It was up to Liverpool to make it more entertaining actually. But they weren't that much effective about scoring goals this time. They found goal opportunities many in number actually but none of them ended up with a goal. If they scored first then things would have been more interesting actually. We all have seen what happened in the first leg right after Liverpool got 2-0 ahead in the game. Marseille don't play like they really want to keep the second position in the standings. We can give the last match as an example for this.
They had a match home against Strasbourg. It was a really interesting match first of all. Balerdi's red card was just an unbelievable one. He made a really amateurish mistake there and caused his team to be in a bigger trouble. But still Marseille got 2-0 ahead with 10 players. In the last minutes I was feeling pretty confident about their win but Aholou changed the fate of the match suddenly. He scored 2 goals in 2 minutes and suddenly became the savior of his team. He was even nearly making a hat-trick if it weren't for that nice save.
Marseille used to be one of the best teams in French football but I've not actually taken my time to look in to the clubs problems that's left them supplicating to remain in the top four as the best they can do for themselves as a team. The fact that no other French team is fully ready to give PSG a good fight for the Ligue 1 title is the main reason why the French league will continue to be boring and easily predictable. As a neutral spectator i have to say, that i am pretty disappointed, because we did not really see exciting second legs this week, because almost every matchup was already decided in the first leg except except for the game of Porto vs. Inter but that match was sadly also the only one where no goal at all was scored. Napoli seems to be a really strong team and i think they can really be dangerous to every team that is still in the Champions League now. The draw on friday will be interesting to watch. With killer goal from Karim Benzema, it's now official that Liverpool will be going out of Champions League tonight. Real Madrid are undoubtedly the best team in the Champions League at the moment but I think that Liverpool's approach to match hasn't been the best. I was expecting them to start the game on high, press and pressure Madrid till they score the first goal which would've made a great comeback realizable. Don't be so sure they will end the season in a good position, they have lots of game still to play and from my perspective of their performance, well I would say am still not convinced of their performance but like you said they are still wounded with lots of injuries to their squad and hopefully they would improve more if most of the injury return back to the and involved themselves in the premier league actions. Chelsea fans must be really frustrated with the inconsistency in the team this season. Milan are a big disappointment in the Serie A this season but at least they are doing something in the Champions League. They have reached the quarter finals by eliminating Tottenham you know. However they should still focus on the Serie A as much as possible. Because while they are concentrating on the Champions League mostly they can lose their position in top four in the Serie A on one hand. This wouldn't be ideal at all for them. If they can't qualify for the Champions League it would be difficult for them to hold some stars in the team this summer.
For example skilled players like Leao and Theo Hernandez might be even more likely to leave in that case.
AC Milan's performance this season I think has been very poor when compared to what that of last season. Though they have qualified for the Champions League quarter finals this season which is impressive but they've been the shadow of the team that won the Italian Serie A last season. Napoli is on their way to breaking another record for themselves as they will be making it to the round of 8 in the Champions League this season. I will be not surprised if he wins the highest goal scorer in the premier league and champion league Erling Haaland's great positioning and prolific power in front of goal is what I've never doubted despite the recent criticisms. He is naturally born to play in that center forward position and he does it with so much ease but my own only problem with his style of play is his inability to play in deeper positions when the team is having bad game and probably dribble few players and create chances for himself or his teammates to score. He's always stationed in his top 9 position waiting for great passes come his way so he can convert them. He's a great footballer we know but for him to be seen in the same level with Mbappe, he should be playmaking sometimes. |
