A hollow earth implies a non-planar geometry, these guys could just be traveling to the dark side of the Earth via polar gateways.

I miss the old getwork protocol and the ability to monitor stats real-time via the cgminer user interface. Are there more robust versions of cgminer available I can upload and run from the shell command line?

You can still do that easily with the S5. Just log into the shell and attach to the running cgminer screen. Sometimes I have all of mine running on the screen at the same time. Dorky I know.

yeah i used PuTTY and did 'screen -list' then 'screen -r 395.cgminer' to bring it up. Thanks.

This article is about 3D printers, but the parallels are worth noting.  Substitute pre-order for kickstarter and miner for printer and you have a very good analysis of what has happened not only here, but with other would-be miner manufacturers.

Excellent article and spot on with your point. Just the people at bfl never intended to be a 'legitimate' company in the first place, same as BA, AMT etc etc. They are just professional con men, and in bfl's case, all mentally disturbed from a military background which is the worst thing a person can do to themselves!

But indigress, thanks for the link, enjoyed that read as I myself have been many 3D printer shows and this articles answers a lot of things that I see when I go these places.

Edit: thought this was BFL thread, took a while read the article but its still relative :-)

According to Leonard Nimoy in an episode of In Search Of All you need for life is hot rocks and water.

My question is how do you create a sentient robot and have it not be totally insane from your point of view? If you program it how to think then you've failed at the task at hand.

I know this is a science forum and not a forum for conspiracy theorists but I have always been intrigued by the idea of a world where everyone has access to 'free' energy. What impact would it have on the world? Would it solve 99 per cent of all problems?

if humans evolved into a kind of vaper life form energy worries would be over.

Free energy, aliens and vaporized humans. What's really going on here?

Apparatus and operating method for an internal combustion engine

Abstract

A method and apparatus for operating an electric ignition, internal combustion engine that substantially improves the fuel efficiency by utilizing heat normally discharged to the ambient to condition and prepare the fuel mixture prior to entry into the combustion chambers. The apparatus comprises a fuel vaporizer that transfers heat from the engine coolant system to the fuel mixture as it leaves a fuel introducing device such as a carburetor; a fuel mixture heater for heating the mixture above the vaporization temperature of the liquid fuel; and, a mixture homogenizer for thoroughly stirring the fuel mixture that is located in the fuel mixture flow path intermediate the vaporizer and heater. The homogenizer is operative to compress the fuel mixture under certain engine operating conditions and the heater forms the intake manifold for the engine and includes branch flow paths and associated conduits that communicate directly with each combustion chamber through a valve controlled port. The fuel mixture flow path from the homogenizer is constructed to minimize energy losses to the ambient.

Well I've gone and done it, I've ignored the advice that 70 CFM x2 isn't enough and picked up a couple of 4-wire PWM fans to replace the salvaged 2-wire PSU fans I'm running on now. They were a lot crappier (but quieter) than the free fans I couldn't believe it, I underestimated the CFM of the PSU fans. QQ

Two 150+ CFM/3000 RPM fans are definitely the bare minimum to go over 1TH/s mark.

The recycled PSU fans (2000RPM?) are currently running cool and quiet at 256.25M @ 830GH/s - 53/49 deg.

After speaking with an expert the following fans are in stock:

"NF-P12 PWM" $19.09 USD each.

http://www.noctua.at/main.php?show=productview&products_id=43&lng=en

At 70 CFM each two of these should work to keep it under 50 deg at stock frequency (350M) or higher.
$38.18 total.

I've also come up with two budget options:

Dual Cooler Master:
"Cooler Master Blade Master 120 Black 120mm PWM Case Fan 600-2000RPM 21.2-76.8CFM / R4-BMBS-20PK-R0" $11.91 USD each.
$23.82 total.

Cooler Master / Arctic Cooling combo:
"Arctic Cooling Arctic F12 Pro PWM 120mm Fan 400-1500RPM 57CFM FDB / AFACO-12PP0-GBA01" $4.77 USD each (can only push air due to design limitations).
$16.68 total.

What's the minimum per fan CFM on a 2x fan setup?

I'm able to run at a frequency of 250M hashing almost 800GH/s with two old PSU fans. These fans can't be more than 20 CFM each. This thing seems stable just below 50 deg.

If you want to run it at default freq (350) you need minimum 200 cfm in my opinion.
Something like 2 120 cfm fan using a push pull setup should work.

Be sure to be below 60 on each blade.

Why not use only one 256 CFM fan @ 5,500 RPM's that I suggested earlier?

I see [now] I need to go ahead and shut down an S5 to take the time to replace the stock fan with the one I mentioned and post pics of the ambient temperature on my thermometer; as well as screen shot of miner stats.

I have purchased eight [8] of these fans in total from the same seller on Amazon:  Delta Electronics PFC1212DE 120x120x38mm Cooling Fan, 252.85 CFM, 5500 RPM, 66.5 dBA, 4.8 Amp, PWM Connector (4-pin).  It is $27.00 with free shipping.  You do not have to be a Prime member to get free shipping on this one.  The seller is selling this through Amazon.  I'm sure they have already added shipping to the price.  It's worth it to me to pay $7.00 more for a great quality fan with lots of CFM.  This thing is a beast!

I use this fan as a replacement on my S4's and S5's.  I plan to replace the stock fans on the SP20's with this fan as well after the warranty period is over.  This is what you need when replacing fans for the SP20:

Here is the link on Amazon to the fan:  http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00HQ18UDA/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

You see the watts consumption @ 60 watts when at full throttle with 5,500 RPM's:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=__MhqY1zPK8

You see a 3 wire in 4-pin version of this fan [They took out one wire] turning the blades of another fan in this video:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wqc72EOuteU

You get to see the guts of the fan in this video:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qo7nHzNXjww

Fan speed gives a competitive edge as a banshee screeching contestant and at 5,500 RPM she looks like a winner.

I've done some research, made some measurements and experimented with some 2-wire 120mm fans from old PSUs.

I believe that two of the following fans will work in push/pull configuration to run at stock frequency (350M) or higher without going for gold in a banshee screeching contest.

http://www.cougargaming.com/products/fans/vortex_pwm.html

"Cougar Vortex" $11.89 USD each at the local shop.

Not enough CFM. These fans do max 70 cfm. ( I did try the same setup)

You need more cfm. Check the delta fans.  Wink

The Earth isn't flat, its hollow!

http://www.ourhollowearth.com/

"Teed expounded on his notions in a [ book ] 'The Cellular Cosmogony, or, the Earth a Concave Sphere', writing under the pseudonym of Koresh, the Hebrew name for Cyrus. He explained that the [ known world ] is on the concave, inner surface of a sphere, outside of which there is only a void. At the centre of the sphere, the rotating sun, half dark and half-light, gives an illusion of rising and setting.

The moon is a reflection of the earth's surface; the stars and planets reflect from metallic planes on the earth's concave surface. The vast internal cavity is filled with a dense atmosphere that makes it impossible to see across the globe to the lands and peoples on other sides.

Odd as it was, his theory could not be disproved mathematically. Indeed, Teed offered a $10,000 reward to anyone who could disprove his theory, but no one took him up."

1. Launch a balloon with your own camera attached to it:

2. Sail around the world on your own.

3. Become an astronaut.

...but the curve is going the wrong way in that video!

The options were flat or spherical, now you've gone and complicated things by offering evidence for a concave earth.

How as an individual can I know if the Earth is a sphere or a flat disc? What experiment can I do that doesn't involve trusting information from a 3rd party that would prove what the geometry really is?
