5941  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Trezor One: How To Retrieve Recovery Seed from Wallet? on: September 07, 2021, 10:58:58 AM
Thank you!

Yes I understand the safety part. But can I generate it again or is it only available to generate once?

let's say that my recovery seed is safely stored out of convenient reach...

You can generate a new (different!) seed, but keep in mind that this means basically a new wallet. If you have coins on the old wallet and the old (recovery) seed is lost, also those coins are lost.
If you don't have coins on current wallet, I also recommend you write (when you can) onto the old seed paper "no longer in use" or similar to not confuse you.
You may want to also read this (old) topic: https://www.reddit.com/r/TREZOR/comments/8lqvki/i_want_new_seed_words/
5942  Other / Meta / Re: What happened to BitcoinTalk in the last years? on: September 07, 2021, 10:50:31 AM
I feel like BitcoinTalk became some sort of "earning opportunity" over the years and now it's now just a bunch of people who are new to bitcoin and can barely form sentences in english. What happened?
I think that the more Bitcoin gets covered by news posts, social-media, etc.. The more people join the forum and spam bounty campaigns and seem to be spamming posts to earn merit which is something that you wouldn't see in the last years.  Sad

Let me know what you guys think.

You are somewhat right, but not completely.
Indeed, too many are here only for the money. But on the other hand bitcointalk grew as a bigger and more diversified (international) community.
Clearly in the bigger the community is, the more the scammers, the spammers or the illiterate. Or those posting translated text..  Cheesy

Somehow I think that all this both good and bad. But I don't think that you can realistically have one without the other.
So, as said, get used to ignore the noise and you'll be able to easily make proper conversation.
I also recommend you start using the ignore feature. It can do wonders  Wink
5943  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: How to leave KYC for good on: September 07, 2021, 10:40:22 AM
if Bitcoin is banned in your country in the future, it's possible for authorities to obtain info about how much coin you bought on KYC exchanges, knock on your door and asking for those Bitcoins.

I'm not certain that this could work, since in the same way one can buy coins without KYC, he can also spend without KYC. Or he can donate.
Or in certain cases one can claim that he wanted to just trade and his account was hacked and coins withdrawn to a wallet he doesn't have.
Also, you cannot imagine how many people use to lose their seed or private keys in fishing accidents  Grin Grin

Making a credible story is up to you. The fact that they don't know the underlying tech may or may not work in your favor.
I am not convinced that they can go that easy after you - even in an authoritarian state - with or without trying their 5$ wrench. And the number of bitcoiners is rising day by day, making it harder and harder to pick those worthwhile to put effort in making them confess.

I'm not sure my logic was clear enough, I hope it was.
5944  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: How to leave KYC for good on: September 07, 2021, 09:13:54 AM
In my mind though, trading your (KYC) Bitcoin for an object should be a normal 'trade' like trading a car for another.

That option 3 caught my attention. I think that this point of view, although it would make sense, it's incorrect from IRS (or similar) point of view.
But I'm not that good in this kind of things, so I would like to see others' opinion, especially if they did bought goods with Bitcoin - how did they fill their tax papers.
5945  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: F1 Formula Sports Racing - Sportsbet.io promotions & discussion thread on: September 07, 2021, 08:47:37 AM
Have you guys seen the latest news about Valterri Bottas? It seems that he will join Alfa Romeo this 2022 and his seat will be replaced by George Russel! This is actually some great news considering that the skills and technique of Bottas is somehow hampered and contained due to the influence of Hamilton. Now that he is in Alfa Romeo, he can actually race on his own without worrying too much about his teammate!

As for George Russel, though many have argued that he doesn't deserve the seat on Mercedes, I am still happy for him as he is now on a superior car. I just really hope that his seat in Mercedes won't be another Rosberg vs Hamilton feud where they both clashed as teammates.

Imho it's not that much a great news than a basically normal development. All I can say is "finally, end of drama".

I am not convinced that the development is that great for George Russel, but time will tell. He clearly deserves a good car and he has shown that he can do wonders in a Mercedes.. when Lewis was not there. Let's see how the things will go when Lewis is present, especially as lately he seems to be needing badly any help he can get against Max. Of course, that may be or may not be the same next year.

I am more curious who will fill the "missing spot" (left by Russel). Will it be Alex Albon or will it be somebody else? That part may be a bit complicated...
5946  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: September 06, 2021, 01:31:10 PM
Legal tender is legal tender. Which by law means no store there can turn down bitcoin as accepted payment.

I've read that it's actually optional, hence I do expect that - especially at start - the huge majority of stores will turn down bitcoin payments (unfortunately).
5947  Local / Română (Romanian) / Re: Despre nebunia din lumea nft-urilor on: September 06, 2021, 12:40:00 PM

No, the bot was made by TryNinja, I'm using it too. Just simply @fillippone got (re)merited by DdmrDdmr and then checked DdmrDdmr merit history.
I know since I've received a notification too for getting re-merited  Grin
5949  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2021-09-04] BBC.com Why China's bitcoin miners are moving to Texas on: September 06, 2021, 12:19:43 PM
How does a 100% deduction for up to 2.6 million (that's around 300 ends of the line Asics if you know how to negotiate) a year sound? And it is also extended to used gear so it means you can simply import those from a Chinese miner once you set up an LLC and almost not care about throwing them out of the window when they become obsolete.  Set up a few LLC, do a bit of tax...improvements by arranging a few deals between them and you will end with a better profit after tax than anywhere in the world.

This sounds interesting indeed. I didn't know. Of course, they'll have to know how to do it, but with the amount of money involved, I'm sure that they'll find somebody help them out.

will the "Bitcoin mining is centralized in China" narrative get replaced by "Bitcoin mining is centralized in United States" (narrative)?
Miners will always migrate to the best country for their business, centralization is unavoidable no matter what anyone would try to do.
But at the end of the day, if you could choose the location of 51+% of the hashrate what would you pick? Texas, Russia, or China?

Clearly, all businesses go where it's better for them, usually where they'll earn more. My question was not really serious.
But, as said, better is, even for Americans, that the hash rate is not centralized (although one cannot actually know if it's centralized or not).
5950  Other / Archival / Re: Help - Lost Bitcoins 49.5 BTC on: September 06, 2021, 11:55:38 AM
He told me that he may attempt to send bitcoin the day before or the same day but not sending the full 50 BTC

This is something useful. This may indeed mean that your friend's money may not be stolen, although it again doesn't add up, since if he would have sent smaller amount, the transaction would have been looking different.
That transaction looks like either a consolidation of funds, or seep (as nc50lc said!), either a hack. And in the previous or next few days there were no transactions from that address.

It's quite sad that you are asking here this late; back those days your friend could have been more certain about what he did, hence be more helpful for tracking the funds.

However, if it's not a hack (I'm not 100% convinced, but let's get more optimistic, at least.) then it's a consolidation or sweep.

Although I didn't follow those, I remember some stories (I don't know how real) about sweeping a paper wallet that ended into disaster, funds being sent to odd/unknown addresses.
Again, I don't know those well, but maybe it rings a bell to somebody familiar with the topic.

First I'd try to see though what other addresses are in that wallet, since there are more transactions going to 1EF3DDBaPzbpJ5cXHVW2gZkyG1Jd4FotFW and they look intended, while the change goes back to 13uzBESjqTT87ak4uAipKUoP8EuVHcQk2e.
5951  Other / Archival / Re: Help - Lost Bitcoins 49.5 BTC on: September 06, 2021, 10:35:17 AM
on 13 DEC 2016 he found a transfer of 49.5. btc was sent from his account to

If he didn't initiate any send action there, I don't see how it could be a glitch in Mycelium.
Unfortunately, from what I read, my conclusion is that somebody else got access to the private key of 13uzBESjqTT87ak4uAipKUoP8EuVHcQk2e and stole the coins by sending them to 1EF3DDBaPzbpJ5cXHVW2gZkyG1Jd4FotFW.

On the other hand, I see multiple send actions from 13uzBESjqTT87ak4uAipKUoP8EuVHcQk2e to 1EF3DDBaPzbpJ5cXHVW2gZkyG1Jd4FotFW, even with change back to 13uzBESjqTT87ak4uAipKUoP8EuVHcQk2e, hence I think that something is missing from the story.
5952  Economy / Economics / Re: Tulip Mania 2.0 on: September 06, 2021, 10:25:47 AM
BUT, I believe the next “Tulip Mania” for this bull cycle are, NFTs.

Indeed, NFTs have a big chance to be Tulip 2.0, ICO 3.0, and so on.
Also to be kept an eye on Eth, since with the move to PoS it can easily move way down.
5953  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2021-09-04] BBC.com Why China's bitcoin miners are moving to Texas on: September 06, 2021, 10:17:40 AM
since blocks are submitted to the blockchain directly we can't know what IP they originate from. Smart!

Besides, most miner join pool and usually pool is the one who broadcast the block. But it's likely pool could generate such statistic, unless their privacy policy doesn't log IP or remove IP after few months.

Exactly.
The only "metrics" would be the changes in the hash rate and whatever the mining farm owners are declaring. Way to small and scarce information and possibly not very reliable also.

Quote
Austin, Texas

I find it quite an odd place to move. I don't know what would be the status for the hardware (do they have to pay import tax?) and what would be the taxes to be paid in US for the operations (aren't they higher than in other places?)

And something else: will the "Bitcoin mining is centralized in China" narrative get replaced by "Bitcoin mining is centralized in United States" (narrative)?
5954  Local / Română (Romanian) / Re: Cont pe binance on: September 06, 2021, 09:58:10 AM
am o curiozitate, voi cum cumparati de exemplu actiuni, avand in vedere ca orice platforma de tranzactionare cere un act de indentitate, unele chiar si o factura cu adresa. Nu am de gand sa cumpar, eram de curios.

Cred ca intrebi in locul gresit  Wink
5955  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Bull market is back on: September 06, 2021, 08:31:08 AM
As many predicted, the month of September to be a stable month for bitcoin price, but the early hours of this week have shown a lot of bull signals which show the full return of the bitcoin bull market.

What do you think?

I think that you were misled by the FUDsters; I think that you were misled that there was a bear market in 2021, while those were only corrections and we are in the same bull market as in the end of 2020.
If you look at it like this you may not have that many uncertainties.

(Also try to not follow -literally- everybody's predictions.)
5956  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Would bitcoin still go far if it was private on: September 06, 2021, 07:30:42 AM
A private blockchain is useful in a pretty limited number of use cases, in most a normal database is better.
Bitcoin came with public blockchain, bitcoin came with pretty well thought incentivizing for the miners to keep the blockchain safe, bitcoin came with everything public and transparent, features heavily demanded currently in many sectors.
The technology and the fact it was properly used (including the fact that's public and transparent) made it so appealing.

The fact that the ledger can be publicly read by everybody also made the governments don't oppose it with all their power.
5957  Economy / Services / Re: [OPEN]Bounty pool - Royse777 [Monthly payment in BTC] on: September 06, 2021, 06:41:47 AM
Hello manager just asking, is the payment of second cycle already distributed? cause did not receive any payments for second cycle  Cry

Last month was lower and, well, just read the starting post (at least the part about dust payments) and look into the spreadsheet and should be clear. Everything is transparent.
Shortly: almost nobody got any coins transferred, maybe next month.
5958  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2021-09-03] With Coinbase And SAP, Vast Bank Offers Bitcoin, Ethereum, Cardano on: September 06, 2021, 06:37:30 AM
We do not currently allow customers to withdraw crypto directly from their account. This is a feature that is coming soon.
When you sell your crypto, your USD is immediately available for withdrawal in your checking account.

Thanks for the research. Then, unfortunately, it's no longer a news that good, since they do basically the same thing as PayPal (and I think Revolut too).
Not a bad one either, obviously Smiley, but no longer a "wow". They're are still a "proper" bank, although a small one, maybe closer to average Joe's "soul" and will add more credibility. (imho we still need that).
5959  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BTC is Trending on Twitter on: September 06, 2021, 06:29:24 AM
I think that Twitter alone is not a good indicator, since there's a lot of paid shilling that's going on there.
But it's not only Twitter; it's the news too, for example. And that's normal; just look at the price. I think that the best image is:

Bitcoin is trending. Period.

Any Good News from the BTC side or  something else?

The news I know are:
1. El Salvador - not new, but still trending
2. Tipping at Twitter
3. Vast.Bank offers crypto

However, take a look at the Press board, there are more.
5960  Other / Archival / Re: [BIG LIST] Crypto Debit Cards on: September 06, 2021, 06:26:04 AM
I tried to check that but mine shows different look at the image below

From what I see, the first image may be from a computer browser, while the second is from Google Play Android app, hence the difference.
Although it's (more or less) on the list, I'll add that it's available for my Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus with Android 8.1; but the problem may indeed be the Huawei device.
