Sure, I will forward this over to Coinapult team for you and follow up in a day as well.
Thanks - much appreciated.

I have been using Bitronictech for a month and did have a few problems initially - I must say that Bryan though has provided good after sales service and I am gaining more confidence in their VPS (I would not recommend anything other than their "gold" VPS service but my server demands are probably higher than most as I am regularly using the GCC compiler among other things).
You will soon be seeing the launch of a new open source project from CIYAM with the VPS service that I have with them so perhaps checking on how that goes will be a telling sign.

If you wouldn't mind alerting someone from Coinapult support to my issue https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=127365.0 I'd greatly appreciate it (have waited since before Thanksgiving with only getting a response from Erik that someone would be in contact about it a week ago).

***UPDATE: This issue was resolved, all funds received. Hopefully just Thanksgiving jitters.
Glad that worked out for you - still no joy for me though.

I'm not sure how many members of this Forum use NoScript but I find it to be a pretty useful FF add-on and was thinking if they could be encouraged to accept BTC donations then I would be happy to throw at least 1 BTC their way.
Was also thinking if they could add a feature that optionally lets you see a list of SHA256 hashes for each loaded .js file then that could be a worthwhile security enhancement for users of blockchain.info and other web-wallet services that rely on keys being generated in .js.

Maybe as a C++ programmer?
You might be interested in my soon to be released open source C++ web application platform - the very first application that it will support is actually a new model for funding projects with Bitcoin (think crowd-funding down to the individual git pull request merge) which will be used to help develop the platform (which already consists of around 250K lines of C++) and for which I will be injecting a significant amount of BTC to get things moving. (send me a PM for more details if interested)

Anyway, you can't make digital cash (and by cash I mean e-gold was credit) with secret software, accepting that would be foolish. Solidcoin must be free software or its users are simply idiots.
Very true - AFAICT the author was not into creating anything other than a way to "get rich quick" from the work of Satoshi (so not surprisingly it has gone nowhere).

I thought bitcoin had copyleft. In any case I don't think a non backed digital currency can work without being free software. Maybe they just lack the time to document it properly.
Bitcoin is not GNU software - it's under the MIT/X11 license which basically allows for "open slather" rather than "copy left".

If you have another computer available the best way to check that your backed up wallet is fine would be to install bitcoin on the second computer then copy the wallet (and the blockchain files to save time) and start bitcoin-qt up with the -rescan option.
Once it has scanned your balance should be the same as on your other computer - if so then one other test might be to make sure your password is accepted.

Read your other thread and that is quite disturbing. This was -my- first experience with both Bitinstant and Coinapult and I have to say...more than a little displeased.
Also was my first (and I would have to now say my last) experience with using this service.
|
|
|
I also started a thread about the lack of Coinapult support - hopefully it won't take too many more threads for some support to appear.
|
|
|
Unfortunately it would seem that there simply is no support at Coinapult.
Erik and others - I know you guys are busy but seriously I think you should consider selling this "service" to someone who understands how to deliver reasonable service.

I think the OP was meaning that the purchaser acts as their own Escrow (more like A B C where the purchaser owns both the A and C addresses).
The problem is that I doubt that many vendors would be interested in having purchasers being their own Escrow (except for perhaps services such as a VPN or VPS or some other "account" that can be easily shut down if the tx isn't finally confirmed).
In the case of such "account" type services I guess this could be a somewhat useful "try before you buy" option.

Cigs and alcohol are taxed heavily(200%++) here in Singapore and Malaysia though. Apparently the gov imposes those taxes and uses the proceedings to set up more healthcare services. The irony..
Indeed - with mostly no free healthcare and having so "darn many people" I think that the PRC government is not overly worried about people smoking and drinking themselves to oblivion.

Very nice diagram - is this free for anyone to use?

...Assuming you don't splurge on cigarettes or other money wasting stuff...
Actually in China cigarettes are dirt cheap (popular local brands go for 5 RMB per pack which is less < $1) as is alcohol (provided you don't buy it in bars which are comparatively expensive). Also I've met people who have successfully "couch surfed" in Beijing - so I guess you can spend your whole $30 on food, booze and cigarettes if you really want to.

Well - am still waiting for the follow up contact. I think Thanksgiving is well and truly over now - if there is anyone doing support at Coinapult I would appreciate a PM.

There are plenty of places in China where you can live comfortably for that amount of money.
Even in a big city like Beijing it is not hard to rent a small apartment in a central location for around 3000 RMB per month (which works out to around $16 per day) and you can eat well here for around 50 RMB per day (around $8).

Bitcoin is a P2P protocol written into open source software so there is no "admin" in the sense you are thinking of and any changes that you want to make to your copy of the source code (such as the block reward, difficulty adjustment or any other rule) that are incompatible with the rest of the network would simply result in you building a client that no longer co-operates with the network (i.e. is useless).
