5941  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why will BTC halving stimulate price growth? on: September 21, 2019, 11:58:00 AM
I hear a lot of discussion around BTC halving that is expected in May 2020.
Many people are confident that this event will trigger the next bull run.

What is the logic behind this?

Because we can't deny that the market works in cycle, bears and bulls, bubbles and burst.

I think not only in crypto market, but it is also relevant in other markets as well.

Although there is one parameter as well, supply and demand that we really need to look at. But halving is essentially the catalyst to start a new cycle and ended up in a burst similar to what we have seen in 2017. Just a question on how long are we going to get into a new all-time-high. Prior halvings (2012) took us 500 days to get to a new all time high, while the second halving (2016) takes around 1000 days to get to $20k.

@Qcrypto - prior halvings posted a huge increased if I'm not mistaken.

First halving, lowest price is $2 -> $200'ish
Second halving, lowest price is $600'ish to almost $20k.

And third halving, recorded lowest price is $3200 last year December 2018, new all-time-high Huh  Grin

This is gonna be a great match,  Porter fan here because I love underdog and I like to have Spence his first loss because this is so favorite to win in this fight. I just like to try my luck betting on the dog as the return is bigger, in boxing nowadays upsets happen, yes, if Porter will win, this could be an upset because Porter is undervalued in this fight.

Most odds-makers have installed the unbeaten Spence as at least a 9-1 favorite over Porter.
Great odds for the underdog.

9-1 is very huge it's a shut off for porter and tho think Porter is a former champion I don't think the gap is not that wide, Spence uses his jab and reaches effectively the proof is on his last fight against Garcia, but Porter can slug it out, we have a good and should close fight here not this kind where Porter is a big underdog.

[ .. snip .. ]

Whoever wins this match will face Manny Pacquiao and this could be the biggest test on Manny Pacquiao's campaign, both fighters are on their prime, they are not coming up from a long lay off, like what happens to Thurman whose performance suffers from a long lay off.

But I agree that it's a big injustice for Porter to have an underdog tag, this guy is no patsy, he can fight and it's hard to dominate him with his style.

Exactly, the Danny Garcia fight already proved that. I think he was also the underdog at that time and was below the judges scorecard in the early rounds. But he adapt and listen to his dad and change his style in the mid rounds and rough Garcia.

Although he was hit in return, but there are a lot of close rounds and usually judges gives it to the aggressor that's why he was able to squeeze a close decision and win the belt. So I'm seeing another performance by Porter similar to Garcia's fight, make his opponent uncomfortable and close the gap.
5943  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ICOs vs IEOs? on: September 20, 2019, 12:42:33 PM
The market is growing, so it's always changing. IEO was born to improve security and security for customers and it is considered an upgrade of the ICO. Also because part of the ICO has so many frauds without strict laws that make many people scam so they choose IEO to ensure their own rights.

I think the right term is evolving.

So we went from ICO -> IEO in what about a year? That's very quick in my opinion. But what do you expect when ICO has been exploited by many projects? Those involved in crypto will have to think of something a new business model, that's why IEO was born.

And now ICO are burned, and IEO are very successful, at least 90% if I'm not mistaken really rakes a lot of money because of the trading platforms and it's reputation.

I think rocket run seems to be the latest game that crypto gamblers have been addicted to.

And then this as well, https://swcpoker.eu/chinese-poker/open-face-chinese. A kind of variant of US poker but play slightly different.
5945  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Cryptocurrency to be used in Money laundering and Terrorism? on: September 20, 2019, 11:47:32 AM
Oh well, they can have all the regulations in place, but it's going to be difficult to stop crypto in it's track. I would admit that it is being taken advantage of criminals around the world, but on the other side, crypto is like a saviour for countries like Venezuela, Argentina and Zimbabwe who's into financial turmoil.

So there's a lot of cons, but there's also some positive things that crypto can bring to a country or to majority of crypto enthusiast.
5946  Economy / Speculation / Re: Crypto Bulls Celebrate Too Early? on: September 20, 2019, 11:26:13 AM
Incredible, having the altcoins season at this point in time is a welcome development because it has been over due. Seeing the altcoins doing well make my self good as making profits from altcoins to Bitcoin is an interesting one, this make me remember what happened some few years back. Although we may see a  good bull run after the Bitcoin halve next year and it will be a better time again with the altcoins.
Hopefully altcoin will be able to benefit from the next bitcoin halving or repeat history atleast, i am one of many who invested a lot in altcoins because i belief i will make good profit rather than investing in bitcoin even when i had the chance, 2020 is the year i am longing for since 2018 after bears take over the market

Can altcoin investors still wait eight more months and wait for the bitcoin halvening? That's almost two years of bearish altcoin market. For majority that is too long and could have been thinking of shifting to bitcoin or have move already.

I'm sorry I don't see any bullishness along the lines, it just had a bounce from a correction we have seen. It went as low as ~$9800 and then quickly recovery above $10k already.

Let's see on the 26th though, if bakkt could bring the price to the next level.
5947  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Where to start Crypto Trading? on: September 20, 2019, 10:50:57 AM
I will suggest beginners try in binance.

1. Binance is a big exchange.
2. They have a lot of coins to trade.
3. New people don't have to do KYC if they don't want.
4. People can cover their trading fee with BNB coin and don't have to use bitcoin as the fee.

It is up to you on what exchange you want to use but remember that you don't need to use big money if you don't know or you are still learning on trading because that will not help you to make a profit unless you have a luck in trading.

Funny thing is, when I started to trade, Binance is not yet there, so I began with journey on some shitty exchanges such as Yobit. And I think people around the time (2016-2017) doesn't have a choice but to start and learn from shitty exchanges in the past.

And I think it really did good for me, learn from those worst exchange and then gradually move when I gain and learn a lot. So it's a positive thing, in my opinion.

But right now, its the other way around, newbies can go to Binance and other reputable exchanges of today. What a total contrast.

That's one key strength of Porter, and I'm sure that it will be his game plan from the time the bell rings.

Spence will used his jab, Porter trying to negate it by coming inside and slugging it out and try to test Spence ability. So it's really going to be close as well,  9-1 is disrespectful to say the least because Porter is also a world champion.
5949  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2019 NBA Season on: September 20, 2019, 09:52:06 AM

[..]

Is this the WSJ interview?

Yeah, read what Durant says, was just surprise that he blurted and said things like he didn't feel that GSW accepted him as one of them. And yes, this is a direct hit to GSW players and management, he won MVP's and rings with them, what's wrong with Durant?

Curry respondent though, but he is not biting on the issue and that's cool of him not to response negatively and let the issue die naturally.
5950  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Will eth+ipfs bring web 3.0 and altcoin season? on: September 19, 2019, 01:59:15 PM
Good for you, just keep holding till ETH 2.0 next year or better yet wait for the eventual bull run and see the price reaches another all time high.

It's just a question on when that's going to happen, almost all altcoins are being paired with BTC, so most likely when BTC had it's bull run, it could have a domino effect on the altcoin market. Just continue to accumulate ETH and you will be good in the future.
5951  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2019 NBA Season on: September 19, 2019, 01:43:04 PM
Actually I am looking at players which had been not signed up in NBA and are now playing in different leagues.
Two of the know NBA players now are Jeremy Lin and Lance Stephenson.
Others are Brandon Bass and Ty Lawson et al.

I guess they are really trying to pull more NBA players for tickets to sell and also if there is a pay per view.
They are paid quite well and this guys needs a job that would pay for their necessities.
Unlike the NBA you will just get 5 to 6 digits for being a bench player while in China there is a chance to be a star and be paid better in the long run.
Yeah, there's more money but there's less fame in overseas. Those players that were not recognized that much in NBA eventually plays in CBA. Like even Stephenson can fight toe to toe against Americans, he wanted to be a star I think. There was a game in which he scored 30+ points in an Asia tournament versus a team in my country Talk N' Text. And most of you maybe does not know Pierre Jackson. He is currently playing in CBA and his stats are decent. It's JUST 40 points per game only Wink with 9.3 assists and 6 rbs per game. That's quite big even though he's pretty small for his size.

You can't blame people that wanted to play in the other league. Some are just chasing money and wanted to be a star on their team. Unlike in NBA they are benched in which they can't showcase their true potential. Goodluck to them.

Man, the Lakers did not extend Stephenson's contract and no team I guess had shown interest in him. I mean, maybe he will have a better contract in the CBA knowing that it is the second largest professional league next to NBA.

It's obvious that Lakers is on a rebuilding last year was probably just an experiment and now we are going to see new sets of players and they don't see Stephenson a perfect fit to the franchise so that's understandable.

So he move to CBA, good for him, the success rate of ex-NBA players moving to CBA is high so I'm expecting Lance to be a true superstar there, a stature he didn't got from NBA.
5952  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: 18 months on .... im one of the 99% on: September 19, 2019, 01:21:19 PM
You can't do anything at this point. Just stay strong and hold on your coins otherwise you will just lose everything with your -99%.

Let this be a lesson though, you just join when the market is really at it's worst situation. Even if you shift to bitcoin, you are still -60% since the last all time high or if you got @$3k levels, you are in a positive but still way below bitcoin's all time high of almost $20k with the current price of ~$10k.
5953  Economy / Economics / Re: Financial crisis 2.0 - What will happen to bitcoin in the next crisis? on: September 19, 2019, 01:01:36 PM
I wonder what will happen to bitcoin and the crypto market if there will be a financial crisis in the world (2008 style)

From one side people will probably look for 'safer' place to put their money in
on the other side, many people see crypto and bitcoin as a risky investment

I would like to hear the community opinions about what might happen to our market in a time of world economic crisis

We have seen how bitcoin sort of becoming a saviour for countries like Venezuela, Argentina and Zimbabwe. A good read as to what happened in 2008

https://www.thebalance.com/2008-financial-crisis-3305679

Obviously, it's going to be two fold, maybe we can see bitcoin dumping, as people are going to liquidate, because mostly in a financial crisis, there's a lot of irrational behaviours from average joe to huge investors.

On the other hand, there could be individuals who can see crypto as a safe haven and willing to store their wealth, specially on bitcoin.
5954  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Will Replace Gold! Here's Why... on: September 19, 2019, 11:34:14 AM
Gold will remain gold. Bitcoin will remain bitcoin. Nothing will change
I agree with your point. Gold cannot be replaced by Bitcoin, there are antics as a joke. Only about 1% of people in the world know Bitcoin and blockchain technology, for gold I think more than 90%.

It's pretty obvious though, gold existed for centuries and bitcoin last ten years. So there's no point in comparing them.

Both has cons and pros, you just have to look at how it will fit you specially if you're an huge investor or just average joe.

5955  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 💰 Tokyo 2020 💰 Discussion and bet thread 💰 on: September 19, 2019, 11:12:43 AM

Well, I really think the government is doing something right now, and this particular problem is just one of a lot of problems the government are handling right now, and because there are newly elected government bodies that are assigned to the most specific problem, our government is most concern over top issue at the moment, but in my opinion our president is doing what he could to solve financial issues regarding the Olympic games right now.

You can not blame the Philippine basketball team for not doing well in the FIBA recently because there is some issue regarding that as well, I think they are doing what they could to give their all but the thing is there is a lot of misplayed shots and regarding their focus I guess it is too early for them to play on the big league, And the government should focus on every aspect of sports and not only on boxing and one game around they should focus on the talents and who has the skill to do it on all different aspects of sports it is the lack of opportunity for certain individuals to see their worth and I think that the problem for certain people to have opportunities because of the problem financially.

No offense, what I'm trying to say is private individuals, they should not focus solely on basketball. They could sponsor a few like Diaz or some boxers who can bring glory to the Philippines. You guys have a lot of talent in boxing, Pacquaio, Nonito etc.

Do private individuals not think of other sports? If they are willing to sponsor basketball teams and send them abroad why not other athletes? Just asking.

@rosezionjohn - sadly if politics even in sport exist in the Philippines.
5956  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: !!! Let 's become a multimillionaire IN 1 YEAR !!! on: September 18, 2019, 03:00:46 PM
Not familiar with the one you shilling here. $5->$15,000? bitcoin took that route the hard way, 8-9 years? And you say that we are going to make a lot of money in just one year? Not gonna happen, sorry to burst the bubble for you.

If you wanted to earn lots of money, HODLing will take years before you realized the potential profit. For me trading should be the route, it's going to be very difficult buy if you have the right knowledge and education and experience and a good starting capital, perhaps it is possible to earn a cool $1 million in about a year.

5957  Economy / Economics / Re: Financial Crisis Will Come on: September 18, 2019, 02:41:04 PM
The most likely crisis coming in the near future would be in the UK. Their economy has suffered a contraction in two quarters consecutively plus incoming Brexit. That would definitely bring down some of their economy friendlies as well

Not UK only - the whole financial world is waiting for an explosion can happen at any moment. And until this happens, professional investors transfer their assets from securities to gold and Bitcoin. They do it as a precious metal is a well-proven protective asset, whereas Bitcoin is a new financial instrument that does not depend on the stock market and can show high profitability.

First Gold, and other precious metals and probably bitcoin later. Because crypto in general hasn't been tested whether it is a good hedge to a global crisis.

So we will have to see, financial crisis is looming around the corner, so bitcoin might be tested in worst case scenario. As far as Brexit or even the US-China trade war, it could be a major factor that will push the world into the brink of finally collapse. It is scary, but inevitable, and I guess it's part of the financial cycle.
5958  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2019 NBA Season on: September 18, 2019, 02:10:21 PM
But Thompson is still injured and we might not see them play together after the all-star-break.

I have to verify your statement as I don't know when exactly he will be back.
According to my research based on this site , https://bleacherreport.com/articles/2843955-report-klay-thompson-undergoes-successful-knee-surgery-to-repair-acl-injury ..... he will be back either february or March next year, so that's still good as long as the Warriors keeps their rank in the top 8 as that will guarantee them a playoff berth.

The new splash brothers will be D'Angelo Russell + Stephen Curry. We don't know how the two are going to blend though, but I'm sure every GSW fans is very excited to see them together playing.
I'm also excited, D'Angelo Russell has improved a lot, in fact he had his first all star appearance last season, so he will be more confident now, especially that he is playing with a great team that had multiple championships.

I'm not saying that it will replace Thompson and Curry but having D'Angelo Russell in the team will bring something new in the table here. No more Durant and it's going to be Steph Curry's team once more.
He won't as Thompson is special, they could be a big 3 in GSW.

February is around all star that's why I said it he could return after the break.

Yes, that combination is new but I guess Curry should adjust again. Good thing is that he was able to do that when Durant was still in GSW uniform.

Could be big 3 who knows, all great shooting guards and almost two of them playing the same time. We might see them play together if the situation arises.
5959  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Most of gamblers are rich or poor? on: September 17, 2019, 01:03:18 PM
No one can actually tell if a gambler is rich or poor.

Majority though are taking a big risk and playing with money that they can't afford to lose. Just look at their expression when they go out of a casino. Most of the time they don't even have cab fare and would rather do the "walk of shame".

So nobody can't really tell unless you see first hand what's behind a gamblers life.
5960  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Easy and guarantee profit on: September 17, 2019, 12:18:21 PM
Your title is misleading. There is no easy and 100% risk free is crypto market.

It involves money, so basically there is such thing as guarantee profit. And those who are saying otherwise, it is the project which will likely scam investors.

So everyone should be very, very careful and not trust anyone claiming that it is a sure fire profit for you.
