5961  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Leaked Chainalysis Roadmap Angers Bitcoin Community on: April 30, 2015, 08:57:40 PM
If you haven't yet torified your wallet yet you may want to consider doing so after reading this story.

Full story: https://bitcoinmagazine.com/20182/leaked-chainalysis-roadmap-angers-bitcoin-community/

TOR?  Sure, and how many Sybil attacking exit nodes does Chainalysis and its subsidiary TORnalysis run/compromise/monitor?

Radical transparency is a feature, not a bug, of Bitcoin.

The quest to force Bitcoin's round transparency peg into a square privacy hole is futile.

Stop trying to use the wrong tool for the job, and start using Monero for applications requiring anonymity/unlinkability.
5962  Economy / Speculation / Re: Gold collapsing. Bitcoin UP. on: April 30, 2015, 08:51:28 PM
Any idea what is accounting for this very steady transaction growth? Shopping? Dark markets? Gambling? Some kind of game?

Argentinafication?  Chavismo?  Maduronomics?  Obamanation?  That stupid boxing match that can't be over soon enough?  Only Chainalysis knows for sure!   Cheesy

Mijo is discovering he can use BTC to remit earnings back home to mama, without the pesky fees/delays/paperwork of Western Union.

In the Latin countries with historically shitty grabby unstable governments, the loop is tantalizingly close to being closed.

When the farmers begin to accept BTC, the rest of civilization will fall like dominoes.

"Got food?  Sorry, we don't take fiat.  Gold, Bitcoin, or GTFO."   Cool
5963  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why the hell should we care about women in bitcoin space? on: April 30, 2015, 08:26:31 PM
I am tired and annoyed of reading articles telling there is no women in bitcoin space..

Why are people writing articles like this?

Part of it is just the media's desire to produce profitable 'outrage porn' for the Facebooking lumpenbourgeoisie's conspicuous consumption.

But the larger story is that Bitcoin technology is the ultimate threat to the statists.  They need to find reasons to make us look guilty of something, so the Nanny State can justify its existence.

@Smooth.  I agree to get out of this thread, that's what I have been saying to you for the last 15 pages as you very well know.  And you know what I was referring too about your own launch "issues", it' discussed at length recently here and on other threads...so please let's not restart all this BS again, go and do you 'proposal' and let these guys make the decision....and ask your hired-goon Icebreaker aka Hashfast scammer Eduardo de Castro to lay off calling CMC a scam because Monero didn't get what it wanted...cheers

@CMC - Thank you for keeping your neutrality on this issue and sorry for the time this has taken up for you.

For the record icebreaker is not hired by me or anyone I know or know about. That was a baseless and unfair statement.

The DashHoles are clearly mad, both in the sense of mad-angry and mad-delusional/paranoid.

I can't believe CMC turned on a dime to appease their whining by hiding Dash's insta/pre-mine.

What a gutless, cowardly decision.  Gliss sees the scam and is (now) saying nothing.  We know what that implies.

How can CMC justify listing Dash with honestly mined coins, when their own core dev says this?

The first 24 hours of the coins existence keep causing us problems
5965  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DASH] Dash | First Anonymous Coin | Inventor of X11, DGW, Darksend and InstantX on: April 30, 2015, 07:01:46 PM
Unlike some here, I respect Evan for his tireless dedication to the project. He has demonstrated immense capability and potential in developing software, knowledge in a lot of aspects pertaining to finance, a reserved repentance to the instamine, a tireless passion for the "community" he created even after the initial chaos and misfortunes, but MOST importantly a sense of pride in the face of consistent attacks over the practicality and technicality of the main aspects of the coin he wanted to bring to everyone.

The biggest mistake however was not the fastmine/instamine but to yield to the pressure of whales (everyone knows their names and it is not just otoh), in breaking the social contract with respect to emission a LONG time after the mistakes during launch. This should NOT have been done under any circumstances. I will not trust Evan to make any more social contract changes (he is going to, until the coin completely dies). Even his cohort during the initial launch, who was subsequently asked to sever ties with the project, was surprised he has carried on for so long.

He fought well, there is no doubt about this. He silenced a lot of trolls, scumbags, thieves, PumpNDumpers and malicious crypto faggots. He is not a malicious person, but his problem is of being too malleable and perhaps some greed.

This is no longer a coin that should see any kind of "investment" or money coming in to support it. It is time to move to science, cryptography and community.

Good points.

After the instamine and rebranding fiascos, nobody should trust Evan or THE DARKCOIN FOUNDATION INC any farther than we can throw them.

The social contract obviously means nothing to them, and they will eventually kill Dash with their repeated violations of it.

Luckily Otoh will eventually run out of BTC with which to prop up the price of Dash.  Then the real fun begins... (evil grin).

I like blockafett and even think he has somewhat good intentions - see his involvement in the mintpal thread.

but the fun fact is that blockafett does not understand the implication of ninja/insta/fastmines.

distribution is not just about being fair (whatever that should be), but about the possibility to network in an economic sense. fast/ninja/instamines are massively hindering this process.

BF is not stupid and understands perfectly well the implication of ninja/insta/fastmines.

But he's also dishonest and holding a bag of DigitaltrASH, which is why he devotes so many words and posts to pushing back against well-founded criticisms of Dash's problematic first 24 hrs, unproven privacy, questionable security, centralization, and HYIP-like attributes.
5967  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: CoinMarketCap.com - Market Cap Rankings of All Cryptocurrencies! on: April 30, 2015, 05:00:18 PM
iCEBREAKER, I predicted that the Dash instapremine tag would be removed for exactly the reason it was: When in doubt he removes it. Gliss wants objective criteria but also fairly simple criteria. For example, he'll list coins as premined if they have a bunch of coins created in their genesis block.

That's why he removed the premine tag on Bytecoin, even though it is, in reality, clearly premined by any reasonable standard. But there is no genesis block you can point to and say "here, THESE coins were premined".

So I suggest we focus on putting together objective, easily verified criteria for instamines (and maybe ninja premines), which has said he will consider.

There are two definitions of "premine."  The more narrow one strictly excludes any coin with no massive genesis block reward.

The Dash fiasco illustrates why that academic definition is of limited value in the real world.

A slightly more broad definition of "premine" would include cases like Dash, where no clear timeline is available but there is no doubt a massive number of coins were created before the public launch.

It's asinine to reward the DashHoles for using the semantic overlap between Dash's pre- and insta- mining phases to avoid the shitcoin filter.

It is an objective fact Dash's actual early emission in no way matches its ostensible block rewards.  We've all seen the evidence.

Gliss saw the scam and said so, which was the right thing to do.  Reversing that decision because of whining quibbling DashHoles makes CMC complicit in the scam.
5968  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: CoinMarketCap.com - Market Cap Rankings of All Cryptocurrencies! on: April 30, 2015, 04:02:24 PM
He made his decision- and even if we don't think it's right, lets give it a rest.

He made two decisions.  The first, to denote Dash's strategically ambiguous pre/insta mine, was the correct one.

The second decision, to hide Dash's massive pre/insta mine and announce the procedure for avoiding CMC's shitcoin filter, was incorrect.

If the DashHoles can be persuasive, so can we (especially since the facts are on our side).
5969  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: CoinMarketCap.com - Market Cap Rankings of All Cryptocurrencies! on: April 30, 2015, 03:23:35 PM
For now, I feel it's best not to make any immediate changes to the filters.  If someone can come up with an objective and easily verifiable criteria for instamine that can be applied to all current and future mineable coins, I'll consider it.  Otherwise it's just going to be too much of a hassle to figure out how every new coin should get classified.

The burden is on the coin to demonstrate/prove it was not pre-mined.

Dash cannot do this, for reasons smooth explains very succinctly:

Quote
I can't figure out what Dash was because it didn't have a well-specified public launch time.

How can we tell if it was mined before its public launch if we can't figure out when that public launch was?

We're not talking about "every new coin" here.  Let's not defend the particular by retreating into the general.

The issue is whether or not the #3-by-market-cap, supposedly "non-premined" coin can actually be verified as "non-premined" and deserves to be excluded by the shitcoin filter.

You've just shown every new pre-mined coin how to game your system in the future: all they have to do is have an opaque/ambiguous initial public launch schedule and viola, premine filter avoided.

That is a mistake.  You should have stood by your original decision, and not let the DashHoles slide by the premine filter using slimy word games.

If you see a scam and don't say anything, you are a scammer.
5970  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DASH] Dash | First Anonymous Coin | Inventor of X11, DGW, Darksend and InstantX on: April 30, 2015, 03:09:21 PM
I object to the dev(s) of other projects openly smearing the dev of another project.

I really wanted to just use the ignore button. That still works for all of the Monero trolls. It is the devs campaign that I object to. And one of the devs is at it again.

My current summary of the Monero scam launch is here, below the Monero devs continued smear campaign, dressed up as an objective conscientious objector

Exposing Dash's stolen name, questionable security, unproven privacy, unforgivable instamine, ill-advised centralization, and offensive HYIP attributes is not "smearing."

Furthermore, one's status as "the dev of another project" in no way precludes them from participating in evaluation and critique of other coins.

EG:  GMAXWELL is a BTC core dev, but as the architect of CoinJoin he was 100% qualified to make the determination that Dash's implementation of CoinJoin is broken.

The only reason you object to "other devs" participating here is because they disagree with you and think Dash sucks.

If they were praising Dash, you'd welcome them.

That is so transparently self-serving and dishonest, your parents should be slapped for raising such an insufferable hypocrite.

come on guys!!! why the price fall down on bittrex Sad

Price movements are part of markets.  A dump could be anything.  Maybe some dude just needed to pay rent or buy a car or buy cheap Monero for 50 cents each.

I don't think jl777's habit of starting projects faster than he finishes old ones is good for SuperNet or its constituent coins.

For God's sake man, stop adding (and by adding I mean "announcing an intention to someday add") new coins/projects/products until at least the majority of previous commitments have substantial progress.

EG:  BBR was supposed to be a "core" coin, but have we seen a single line of code to that end?

EG2:  Pangea Poker was supposed to be out in "early April" but that date slipped without even an explanation.

This cancerous feature bloat isn't being rewarded by the market, and resembles GAW/PayCoin's 'start new scams faster than they can be exposed' strategy.

Let's try doing one thing and doing it better than anyone else, instead of chasing overambitious pipe dreams of being all things to all people for all purposes.

The cryptonote scammers came out with a reference QT GUI wallet

I wonder how it relates to the QT wallet that was part of Pebblecoin, does anyone know?

I'd rather not know.  The Cryptonote Conspiracies' intrigues and mysteries are better left unresolved.   Cheesy

your view is so narrow that it only focuses on shitcoin speculation instead of real-world adoption.

"Shitcoin speculation" is at this point the only thing Dash has going for it.

Nobody uses Dash to actually do anything.  There is zero propensity for Dash to be used in retail or finance.

Until Masternode Blinding is something more than ambitious vaporware (IE cryptographically/mathematically proven), it would be foolish to trust Dash for anything requiring privacy.
5974  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DASH] Dash | First Anonymous Coin | Inventor of X11, DGW, Darksend and InstantX on: April 29, 2015, 08:26:12 PM
distribution

Do you have numbers relating to distribution?

I've tried to put a few together before in a chart, but could only go off of Risto's power law distribution chart.

Also, do you have numbers indicating that distribution will form the foundation of a network effect?

I'm really interested in how that could come about, mathematically.

Game theory tells us how Dash's instamine may destroy its network effect.

EG:  Granting insiders nearly free instamined coins discourages genuine investment, because insiders can take their free profit before genuine investors can take their fairly earned gains.  The net effect is to suppress the numbers of new, non-insider, investors.

Anyone with a brain can work out the myriad other mechanisms by which Dash's instamine precludes and inhibits growth of a healthy, authentic ecosystem.

xpost:

PURCHASE ON AMAZON.COM WITH DASH: ShapeShift.io‬ has partnered with Purse.io, a service that matches customers wishing to purchase ‪bitcoin‬ with bitcoin holders wanting to purchase items with retail giant Amazon.com. You can now make your purchases with Dash: http://bit.ly/1JTnSdP

For the sake of its reputation, Shapeshift.io shouldn't do business with instamined scam coins like Dash, who stole its (most recent) name from another coin with genuine (AKA cryptographically/mathematically proven) privacy.

Your post in the victim coin's thread illustrates perfectly the damage done by THE DARKCOIN FOUNDATION INC's rebranding campaign.

No matter how many times X/DARK/DASH re-brands, it is still an insta-mined scam coin.

Shapeshift.io is way too cool to touch such reprehensible scams!  Please drop X/DARK/DASH ASAP.

The community voted smoothie

Do you have a link to that vote. I'm interested to learn more about it.

I'm also interested to learn more about the alleged pro-instamine vote of yore.

Was it done via a poll here on BTCT or on DarkTalk?

Did only MasterNodes get a vote?

How close or overwhelming were the results?

When did it happen?

Were the full specifics of the insta/pre/dev/scam/ninja-mine known at that time?

Why isn't this important information disclosed in the OP?

vokain, here is iCEBREAKER using you to attack me, honestly please let everyone know how you feel about that, obviously I see him for the toxic cunt that he is, but as you are basically pro monero and anti DASH I would be interested to see if you condoned his poisonous hate campaign or dissociate yourself from such blatant fuckery as what he is trying to do is not about the coins or their merits at all it's just pure shit stiring and worse.

I've always considered you a friend. I also cannot question The Good Word.

P.S.:IceBreaker has always been on my side, though I didn't see that at first

How do you feel about Otoh posting the screenshot of his XMR rage-dump here, and then crying about being "attacked" when his flamebait gets a negative response?

I thought that was pretty funny.

Who looks toxic hate filled here?

Heh, I love people who go mental when you chastise them for being hyper-sensitive.   Cheesy

But I'm not satisfied until Otoh pukes up the rest.  I want to see a balance of zero, and if he takes the price back under 0.001 that's great too.

DashHoles don't deserve to own a single precious Monero.

[bitching, pouting, and self-aggrandizement]

Otoh, it was me mostly whose orders you sold into. I earnestly think that smooth and everyone here, while sometimes perceived as vitriolic, only have the best of intentions behind the message they have.

Thank you for giving those rage-dumped XMR a good home.  I'm sure they will be happy being hled in your wallet for a long time.

It's a good thing Otoh is so hyper-sensitive to criticism of his pet gold donkey!

It was nice of him to puke up the rest of his Monero stash, just like I told him to.   Cheesy

Seriously guys stop that, if you wanna talk about Otoh make a thread for that and invite him.... this is about Monero and NOT Post after Post after Post what Otoh did.

┗(°0°)┛ ┗(°0°)┛ ┗(°0°)┛

Yes, let's make a thread to thank Otoh for his lulzy rage-dumpings.  The guy who bought most of them, vokain, will be a much better hodler than Otoh was.

I hope Otoh buys more masternodes, so the Dash network becomes even more centralized.

It will be funny when Otoh and his buddies control the vast majority of masternodes.

Oh wait, they already do!  LOOL!   Grin
