So one thing I've been thinking about, is how to incentivize people to play at the start of the draw (as opposed the last couple of blocks).
One ideas I've had:
a) The winner gets the total amount sent to the lotto, plus X of the sponsored amount. X is dependent on the block you buy your lottery tickets, and starts off at 100% and trends towards 50% by the end of the draw? So the earlier your buy in, the higher +EV it is (but the less known the EV) is. The later you play, the lower the EV is but the more known it is. (But regardless of when you play, it's still +EV)
b) The winner is paid 50% in BTC and 50% in next-draws lottery tickets. This would make the pot start with a nice healthy amount right from the start, hopefully attracting more players. Players would be eligible to win multiple times in a row of course. (Although it seems a little shitty to me, to pay lottery winners in lottery tickets)
Or maybe I'm over thinking it, and last-minute play isn't a problem? I just have this impression that the bigger the pot, the more attractive it is for most lottery-ticket buyers to participate.
What are your thoughts?
Im guessing option 1 is better since this will drive more people to buy the ticket faster and the pot will goes higher. As long as it is still EV+ I think the first idea is still a good option even though someone will buy in the last minute. As for option 2, Its a bad idea imo |

that game was one of best final that i have watched in my life (top 5 games from '90) and i must say they need a lot of work if they are to get in that shape and team morale I hope you have put the Champions League final 2013 in your list  Well seems Mourinho is safe for now, and anyway if he is sacked, he will get high amount of compensation by Chelsea  We can see what he will do for next match. And Liverpool have much time to seek their new coach since there is no any EPL match for this weekend. PS. I have heard about many friends of mine who had big capital money and make some innovate things in their business, but those were failed in the end.
Yep that is my curse. I`m an inteligent person, but i am awfully unlucky (sort of natural balance?) so even though I usually come up with good ideas, the implementation of it goes bust and I end up at square 1 always. I hope I can break the status quo once, but yes I agree with you, luck is a vital factor in the equation of sucess. lol I like your term, square 1 Well I think you havent found a golden opportunity or good timing to implement your ideas. Also you have to remember that even if a gambler wins 50% of the times and loses 50% of the time which is pretty much ideal, gambling site still wins largely by the mark up that it takes on betting odds.
For example you bet on the basketball game over/under 160 points and you will have odds 1.9 for over and 1.9 for under. This means that even if one customer loses and one wins, gambling site still have 10% of gain.
Yeah thats a good point. It prove us that the odds isnt made carelessly, where the gambling site usually making a precise calculation to determine the odds, so they could get profit from that. First you should define what a long run is - it could be 1 day it could be 90 years and second if nobody ever won in the long run why people are still playing?
