At about $190-million it's an Exit Scamm ON DEFAULT until proven otherwise. There is absolutely no shrugging this off.
Stuff like that kills bitcoin. Everybody inside the scene knows that. No institutional money for you!
All these Cold Store addresses belong onto the table for close survillance. All Deposits on scammer exchanges originating from these adresses will signal what really happened.

It is true that it is rather strange that he did not take more care especially if he had health problems. But we often deny fate, even when we are in good health we refuse to accept that something can happen to us overnight. But harassing his wife here and there and really something indecent and supposing the death is fake is horrible for the family, really sad.
We deny fate .. for sure, if we keep supporting Exit Scamms. That will ruin whole of Bitcoin. |

when i saw alleged cold storage funds moving, i immediately figured it was an exit scam. he could have faked his death, skipped the country with the cold storage, and left his wife holding the bag. however, from looking at the wallet activity, i don't think those are cold wallet addresses. Wasn't their Cold Storage secured by Multisigs? Should have been an easy recovery, that way. And it's standard industry procedure to apply those. Another issue ... are they "real people" ?! QuadrigaCX was founded (and still controlled?) by two other people:

Lovie Horner
There have been many rumours about these two people and the consensus is that they are fake names or new legal names that they acquired.
An interesting observation:
MICHAEL PATRYN is an anagram for PHARMACY INTEL
LOVIE HORNER is an anagram for HEROIN LOVER
If that's not the biggest fucking coincidence then I don't know what is.

There is a modern design of old technologie available, these casings are best industry practice.  Overall containing a dozen huge FPGA (not ASIC!) chips, 6 on a single Hash board. Just from my (outdated) experience running ZTEX boards, those who closely assembled a Cairnsmore1 device: They did not last for long, old devices usually featured 3 of 4 chips remaining and 1 dead chip which was not replaceable. Placing 6 on each Hash board requires perfect cooling conditions.  |

Kauf mal im Baumarkt zweimal Wasserstoffperoxid, einmal als Papst verkleidet und einmal als Muselmane. Dabei ist das schon besser geworden, früher gabs Probleme wenn du mit der falschen Religion auch nur auf die Straße raus gingst.

Anyone care to discuss even a single particular type of voodoo they've used throughout the years to determine exactly how loud the crickets are getting?
I think one of the ones I always liked was navigating to bitcointalk's altcoin section and, at various times of the day, observing exactly how deep the number of posts that show up as the last post having been 'TODAY', was always one of my old favorites.
I think it possibly has a bit less significance now than say 2014 being that there are many other increasingly popular avenues of collaboration, but still that one's definitely within my top ten favorite voodoo's.
Like now, there are 8 topics extending into the second page of the altcoin speculation section .. whereas during peak frenzy mode there have been well over 15 pages worth of posts indicating that 'TODAY' was the last post.
Is there a way to automize gathering these voodoo metrics, drawing a graph? For comparisons along other market metrics like trade volume. Tracking twitter activity has been another one, but that got gamed pretty easily by the usual parties. |

vielleicht hier?...  hier?...  oder hier?...  Spaß beseite... imho gibt es hier nach wie vor jede Menge guten content! (okay - auch mal ein paar Seiten Zickenkrieg oder Rumgealbere)... Aber die erfahrenen, alten Hasen melden sich dennoch regelmäßig, mit zum Nachdenken anregenden comments oder charts, zu Wort! Das kann durchaus sein. So richtig wieder los ging es 2018 ja bisher auch noch nicht. Liste erhebt übrigens keinen Anspruch auf Vollständigkeit! Den Klaus hatte ich glatt vergessen. Viele andere auch. Nach 2013 war erst 2015 wieder was los. Die Börsenerfahrenen können auch irgendwie mit Tricksereien aus einem fallenden Kurs Profit schlagen. Das bringt der ganzen Sache aber überhaupt nichts. Was fehlt ist seit den Monaten wo ich dabei bin irgendwie das Auftauchen im Alltag, das man einfach mal hier auf dem Land dem Bitcoin begegnet. Und sei es nur eine einzelne Pizzeria wo ein Geek zufällig auch Pasta und Antipasti kann. Das fehlt nach wie vor. Schätze genau das schlägt jetzt zu. Die Erwartungen waren zu gross, das wird dann zwangsläufig korrigiert. |

Mal eine ernst gemeinte Frage neben dem ganzen Sarkasmus:
Was ist der Grund für diese kranken Abverkauf? Gibt es eine News die irgendwie Sinn macht? Verkaufen die Pools um das Mining aufrecht zu erhalten? Verkauft der Typ aus Nippon die Gox-Coins? Oder gar der Ver Roger die seinen? Wird Bitcoin abgelöst? Durch Ethereum oder IOTA? (Wunschdenken, die bluten genauso oder noch mehr.)
Als Erklärung gilt NICHT: "Weil ich mir 3k wünsche und diese schon vor einem Jahr vorhergesagt habe!", denn das ist kein objektiver Grund.
Ist dies nun die viel herbeigesehnte und noch fehlende Kapitulation? Gefühlsmäßig müsste sie das doch dann sein.
Ansonsten: Fundamental gibt es nichts zu meckern, es könnte viel schlimmer sein (MtGox). Sentiment scheint vollkommen durch zu sein (imHMMo). Technisch .... whatever, Striche halt.
Trantüte, wie lange bist du schon dabei, wie viele Crashes hast du in Crypto bisher miterlebt, und wie viele davon hatten einen WIRKLICH GUTEN, fundamentalen Grund? Also ich bin seit Juni 2017 dabei, und seitdem hat es mindestens 5 mal RICHTIG gerummst (bei manchen Crashes kann man darüber streiten, ob man sie einzeln zähl oder ob man sie zusammenfasst, weil sie kurz hintereinanderfolgen). Nur ein einziges Mal hatte das einen wirklich guten Grund: Als es im September 2017 hieß, China würde Cryptohandel und ICOs komplett verbieten. Wenn so ein riesen Markt dichtmacht, da sage selbst ich: das ist ein herber, fundamentaler Dämpfer für die ganze Szene. Es war übrigens das letzte mal, dass wir BTC unter 3k gesehen haben. Es gab einen sehr blutigen Freitag. Das weiß ich noch, weil ich an dem Tag frei hatte und die Wohnung besichtigt habe, in der ich gerade hocke  Alle anderen Crashes waren doch einfach nur Psycho-Geschichten. Irgendwie kommt der Stein ins Rollen, eine irrelevante Nachricht liegt vor, oder noch nicht mal das, aber es verselbständigt sich und das Ergebnis ist Double Digit Red. Menschen wissen nicht, warum sie verkaufen. Sie wissen auch nicht, welche Partei sie wählen, und wofür sie ihr Geld ausgeben. Sie agieren aus einer Laune heraus, wenn die lautet "Schnauze voll", verkaufen sie BTC. Bin seit Anfang 2013 dabei und sowas wie gerade habe ich ehrlich gesagt noch nicht erlebt. Oder mein Gedächtnis lässt nach. Würde mich natürlich auch interessieren, was die anderen dazu denken, die so lange oder länger dabei sind. In der Regel war es imho immer so, auch am Ende einer Blase, dass ein bestimmtes Ereignis den Abverkauf eingeläutet hat. Meistens waren es irgendwelche Hacks, von MtGox bis bitstamp, die den Kurs auf Talfahrt schickten. Dieses Mal: Ein halbes Jahr passiert GAR NICHTS, um dann umso stärker abzusacken. Als ob die VerkäuferLenmminge sich abgesprochen hätten. Natürlich braucht es für Panik keinen (echten) Grund. Auch freue ich mich in gewisser Weise über die günstigen Coins. Da ich aber weiß, wie lange die Durststrecke zwischen 2014 und 2017 war, so weiß ich auch, daß nur die Geduldigen übrig bleiben werden. Aber Geduld kann auch ziemlich anstrenged sein (um so schöner ists, wenn sie sich dann auszahlt). Anyhow, im Moment machen ja nicht einmal fortgeschrittene Methoden zur Kursanalyse Sinn, weil der Markt vollkommen bescheuert geworden ist und der HMM oder andere Statistiken überhaupt nicht anwendbar sind (den Fehler von Black and Scholes werde ich nicht wiederholen). Der Markt ist gerade im Panikmodus, das Modell dazu muss erst noch entwickelt werde. Das ist schade, denn die Methode hatte etwas entgegen der sonstigen Esotherik wo Highs und Lows abgezählt wurden 1..2..3....8..9 oder dem irrsinnigen Gestrichel wo dann noch die Skala verbogen werden musste damit das passte. Es ist amtlich... die 5k wurden auf so gut wie allen großen Exchanges gerissen, Bitfinex wird jeden Moment folgen.
Quo vadis, BTC? Ich war noch selten so nachdenklich bzgl. meines Crypto-Investments, obwohl ich die meiste Zeit mit deutlich größeren Summen hantierte.
Aber war nicht schon im Januar klar wohin die Reise geht? Freut eu-heuch des Le-he-bens... B-T-C wird immer gü-hü-nstiger Nach Singen ist da nicht zumute. Als Münzsammler war das ganze 2018 eher zum Abstossen. |

The people on /r/ethtrader are pretty bearish at the moment ( normally they are circlejerk permabulls in there ) , many expect a huge dump for alts on both scenario's: ETF approval or rejection. ETH fucked up again, locking funds due to 2 smartcontracts. It's their personal speciality, not related to big money. Except one considers loosing $46 Million as big money. |

Most of the altcoins are ready to pop. However, I don't think BTC going past $8K level at this try. We need at least one more touch on the 50 DMA, and perhaps this would provide enough momentum to break it.
It's a try, and a try only. Altcoins will sink further but are the real buying opportunity. A touch onto DMA ain't solid enough, people thinking in absolute numbers like "Floors" not moving targets. |

What is going to happen on 10th August? I believe Febo is referring to an expected SEC decision as to whether a BTC ETF will be permitted. ETF never ever get permitted. Always only announcements of dead lines. |
