I used Asus Prime Z270-A, MSI Z270 SLI PLUS and Gigabyte H110-D3A.
Between these 3 mb in my opinion Gigabyte is the best - low price and at least same performance as Asus and Msi. You can plug in max 6 cards.
I like the Z270 options, but, for just mining... dont you think they are overkill? You dont need so many overclocking/tuning options?

Review your electricity supplier/contract, ensure you have the best and cheapest price. Ive just changed my electric tarrif and gone from £0.17p down to £0.12p per kW

My mining career is only 2 weeks old. Mining with the gtx1070 in my gaming rig. Used nicehash miner for 2 weeks (not 24/7, but 75%) undervolted and slightly overclocked. So far ive made £15. I did start using the legacy version yesterday to see different performance with alternative mining programs, my forecast profit did go up on legacy.
In time, if i build a 5 or 6 card rig... id probably pop that on nice hash... its quick and easy. BUT... in the time till then, ill be doing my homework on other ways to mine and make profits

Nope, it'll be your OS not liking more than 7 cards from a single brand? Nvidia or AMD...

Should I concern myself with getting any more than 4gb of ram? How about ram timing and frequency? I've seen people say that you want "X" amount of system ram per video card and that timing and frequency can be important or irrelevant depending on what you're mining but that information was from 2015 and further back.
Cheapest CPU, low to mid range RAM 4GB. USB 3.0 Flash drive is your hard disk, 16gb min, 32gb recommended

|
|
Who needs drives when you can boot the OS over the network?
Yea i wanna try that too
|
|
|
I run Windows 10 from a 32gb flash drive... £10... boom

Im in the same boat, got 2x1070, 1x1050ti running and would really like to expand...
But in my opinion its very risky at the moment as GPU prices are still super high but coins are low and falling. There are too many people jumping the hypetrain without doing the math so the GPU prices will stay up and difficulty keeps rising. Im at 0,15$/kWh so i think i will not upgrade my system as ROI for 1070 here is above 1 year...ffs i believe Ethereum PoS will be sooner than all the ppl who buy 1070s now ROI...and thats going to change the mining world.
Running after the hype is never good. Good moments to buy hardware are in my opinion when the coin value is high or when there is a new coin that has something real to offer and is worth mining early and hodl, but all I see is ICO scam and worthless copypaste coins that wouldnt earn a dime without hype.
So i will wait another 1 or 2 months and reevaluate the situation
I see it said alot, whats ico scam?

It goes in cycles, right now profits are not as high, but still you have profit. If you have too expensive electricity then i would not go into mining. I hope trend will overturn and mining profits will be bigger in the future
$0.21 is my electric price per kilowatt £0.16p in my money (ish)

Been hobby mining on NiceHash using a single Gtx 1070.... im very tempted to step it up a gear a build a small gpu rig, 3 or 4 cards to start but im not sure, have I missed the good times?

I used both but prefer nicehash, with minergate there was always some problem with the stats over the weekends,
I have a core 2 quad processor and win 8 64 bit OS but I unable to use the NiceHash software in my PC. Please suggest me what I can do correct the issue. I have recently update SW only. Whenever I click start it, It says No compatible device. If you have link for the above specs, Please share it below to use it. I had this, Tried to run NiceHash on my Core2Quad Q6600.... its not having any of it. I wouldnt CPU mine on anything lower than an i7 or Ryzen 7 and even then, I wouldnt be aiming high. Needed a GTX 1070 card inisde my system before I could load NiceHash.

I am only 3 weeks into my mining adventure and I have binned MinerGate already. Started with it running on 2 home PC's, 2 home Laptops and 3 Android Samsung mobile phones... all together I was only pulling 190 H/s.
Now I have moved on. Upgraded my gaming PC with a Zotac GTX 1070 card and I have been running NiceHash for about 4 days now. So far so good. Ive pulled £8 in 4 days (with OC)
Going forwards, I'll be purchasing more GPU's and connecting them to NiceHash. Even further, I'll be aiming to build multi GPU rigs and pool mining. But thats a long way off at this time.
NiceHash > MinerGate.

Holds steady at 58 to 61 degrees and 800mv
With tweaks, im on 900 mh/s now with memory +545

Also, a second question.
How many risers is it safe to run off 1 strip of Sata plugs out of the psu? Ive seen youtube build videos where people say no more than 2... others say no more than 4?
