61  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin Litecoin Terracoin and so on. Online Wallet. In need of developers. on: November 19, 2013, 11:35:05 PM
Well it is an awesome idea. I'm more interested in the API blockchain.info provides rather than the wallet. For example, rawaddr, pushtx, etc.

Yes, even an API would be a great starting point. I'm looking at this being my next project so let me know if you are interested in being part of it.
62  Other / Off-topic / Re: Does anyone know how i can get 0.04? on: November 14, 2013, 04:14:02 AM
I'm 14 and have around .3 BTC which I go from the /r/Jobs4Bitcoins. If you have programming skills that is a good option. I might be willing to pay you if you can do something useful for me. What skills do you have? If you mind sharing, why do you need the money? PM if you want some help getting established in the Bitcoin world. If you have fiat currency (fake money that every insists on using =P) you could also try LocalBitcoins.

EDIT: Warning: Check out BertSesame's trust rating here. Alt of burgerdistraction.

oh... I missed that...

Also, I got into cex.io so I'm discontinuing this offer...
64  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: bitaddress.org and MY Wallet on: November 13, 2013, 02:18:15 AM
I can only assume that you mean blockchain.info's My Wallet. If so, the passphrase was the password to your web wallet, not to the address. You can export your private key by logging back into My Wallet with that password and your username (looks something like 67d16919-7f0e-473e-a8e8-de3c20df5a78).

If you can't remember your username check in your history, there should be a url like:

https://blockchain.info/wallet/67d16919-7f0e-473e-a8e8-de3c20df5a78

Blockchain.info's My Wallet is a web wallet (a highly secure, client side one at that). It is a service that stores your private keys in a manner that you can retrieve them but they can't. You can also make transactions with this but it all happens client side. I would recommend using My Wallet, but remember, the password is to encrypt the web wallet, not the private key's passcode.

If you need any help recovering your money, send me a PM. =)
65  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Question about paper wallets on: November 12, 2013, 10:51:37 PM
You can assign a passphrase to a paper wallet. Just encrypt it with AES (using https://encipher.it for example). Paper wallets are just safer because they require physical access to be hacked as opposed to computer wallets that require "malicious software that tracks your keystrokes in exchange for free smileys" (quote from Chrome's incognito mode). Yes, you have to take measures to secure your paper wallet but anyone who breaks into your house and finds your paper wallet under the floorboards probably isn't going to know about bitcoin.
66  Other / Beginners & Help / USB Block Erupter - Group Buy - Australia [X-Post] on: November 12, 2013, 10:40:39 PM
I'm looking for anyone located in Australia who would like to get their hands on their first MH/s. I'm thinking of ordering some USB Block Erupters from the US (for fun).

Prices are as follows (from https://www.btcguild.com/index.php?page=store, let me know if it is cheaper else ware):

0.07 BTC/unit for 1-9
0.06 BTC/unit for 10-99
0.05 BTC/unit for 100+

Plus 0.04 BTC + 0.01/Unit postage.

I'll charge you whatever I get charged per unit plus whatever postage is to your address.

I would receive the package and send off block erupters to where you want them. Alternatively if a more trustworthy person would like to do this, fine by me. Let me know if you are interested. If I was to do it I would need payment upfront, I can provide you with more personal details if necessary.

If this goes ahead I will give you an address to transfer the money to and ask you to produce a signed message from the address you sent from detailing your order.

And please, no scam accusations, I can provide more details if this goes ahead.

I'm opening this offer up to newbies as well. =)

68  Other / Beginners & Help / Unconfirmed Transaction... Again! on: November 09, 2013, 02:58:09 AM
Sent a tx with blockchain.info's wallet 2 days ago. Still unconfirmed... Normally unconfirmed tx's get dropped by now but I think 8% of the network is still relaying it. 89% was relaying it at the start but that has dropped. Is there a way to re-relay it out to the network again?

Try somewhere like btcjam.com, they are a p2p lending service that verifies your identity. People can invest small amounts ($2) to diversify. Post with a high enough interest rate and that should do it.

My question is do you own any of:

1VtaJTXABVbrZKxFYPXUg3iGMS5mxBXxB
19Q7GdwnxGsU884weFNKmZYfuCeKoczUiG
1B7EwTocYkkg1fKZGSjYUJbtBjnz1pqViL
1NRYDFxtYCwHXam32yFAn8kpiWfdx4XefX

The client has been known to do weird things and sweep money out to other addresses, like when you have addresses that were generated using the flawed bitcoin random number generator. Are you sure that your computer is virus free. Make sure your wallet is encrypted! Mind PMing me with all the addresses you own and I will try and see if I can trace the money somewhere.

Sorry, posted that when I was half asleep and didn't think it through very much. In relation to Fastcoin the have a system that deletes blocks over a year old or something. When I said bloat have you seen the size lately it's like 9 GB or something, I feel sorry for those who run full clients (which until recently most people did). I did explain all about HashCash and the SHA256 stuff. I also told them that the difficulty increase is to maintain a ratio between between miners and non-miners. This reason they think scam is because, well, who got rich from bitcoin, early miners, and I know that, as with most things, the early adopters make the most money, but I think that many people think Mr. Satoshi only started it as a get rich quick model and immediately discount it as useless.

Also, the BetterInRealLifeThanBitcoinSorryNakamotoButYourCoinHasIssuesThisCoinIsBetterCoi n was made up when I was sleepy and sounds really cheesy now.

I try not to be a troll and your "should know better than to feed the trolls" advice is good. One last thing, I get everything about bitcoin except the "merkle root". Can someone explain this? Ok, I'm off to read that thing I should have read already, you know, the bitcoin whitepaper.

!!!!Must stop acting like a troll!!!!

Ok, so here I go:

TOR = Anonymity/Proxy Network.
.onion = Hidden service on TOR.
DNS = Domain Name System ie. bitcoin.org -> 204.232.175.78

To use a domain name you need to:

1. Buy the name from a registry.
2. Configure the domain registry to use your DNS name servers. If your don't have nameservers try cloudns.net (easy, simple).
3. Configure DNS name servers records. You will need to add an A record to your hosting IP address.
4. Configure webserver to accept requests from whateveryourdomainnameis.com.
5. Check out your new website!

For .onion's:

1. Install TOR
2. Edit torrc file to have a hidden service on port 80 (or whatever port)
3. Configure web server to accept requests from youroinion7386jfgyf398d3.onion.
4. Check out your new hidden service!
5. This assumes a VPS, normal webservers are much harder if not impossible to run a hidden service on.

This is just a basic summary. Feel free to post with more details and I'll be happy to help! Smiley

Hey Guys,

So the other day I tried to explain Bitcoin to someone and ... that went well ... not ... All I have achieved is a brand-new Bitcoin Skeptic\Scam-thinker. So I would like to discuss a few things.

1. Difficulty increase - I understand this but people think scam at the first mention of this.
2. Blockchain -  Blockchain bloat (not just *cough* SatoshiDice *cough* but normal transactions too), firstly how does FastCoin work? Someone mentioned that this was going to be implemented in Bitcoin soon.
3. Is there a way to verifiably confirm the location of coins without needing all the blocks?
4. Any other bitcoin improvements.

Probably other things but this is just a starting point for BetterInRealLifeThanBitcoinSorryNakamotoButYourCoinHasIssuesThisCoinIsBetterCoi n.
