61  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin will be on the Peter Schiff Show 2011-06-20 at 10AM EDT on: June 20, 2011, 06:29:55 AM
Shiff bashed bitcoin before, he talked about it and said negative things about it like, no intrinsic value, its a scam, don't get caught holding the bag etc etc. I can already tell what the show will be like, he will repeat his warnings to not touch bitcoin. Especially after the Mt. Gox incident. Guarantee he will bring that up and will be bashing bitcoin. I don't know why but a majority of the precious metals community really don't like bitcoin. They don't understand the revolutionary impact it can have. I think its because they are focused on things intrinsicly and since bitcoin isn't physical they disclaim it right away.
62  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Aftermath - Where will it leave BTC? on: June 20, 2011, 06:14:19 AM

65  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: onlyonetv.com going live with tradehill/mt gox @ 9ET on: June 20, 2011, 02:31:42 AM
claims only 100-200 bitcoins stolen.....

Bitcoins held off site, mostly.

I sure hope so.

That would be great news for everyone.

yea if its true then they lost very little and this is all news of a vulnerability that spread like wildfire. I hope that is true.
66  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: MtGox UPDATE on: June 20, 2011, 02:23:08 AM
Emailed issued few minutes ago from the mt.gox

Dear Sir or Madam,

A few hours ago the Bitcoin trading website Mt Gox has been hacked. Malicious individuals have been able to obtain a database containing usernames, email address and encrypted passwords. This information has been posted publicly on the internet.

As a Bitcoin supporter I'm now sending a message to every email address contained in the hacked database. This is to warn you that your username, email address and password have been leaked. I therefore strongly advice you to change your passwords. If you have used the same password on different websites it's highly recommended to change your password on all of your accounts!

For a more secure alternative to Mt Gox, the community appears to be moving to TradeHill. So this is no reason to lose faith in Bitcoin itself. It must be seen as a warning that not every website can be trusted with your data however! Their link is http://www.tradehill.com/?r=TH-R15683 (Note: You can remove the Referral Code when registering if you want!) This is certainly not the only website where you can exchange Bitcoins, also check out http://www.thebitcoinlist.com/dp_bitcoin/bitcoin-exchange/

Sincerely,

A Bitcoin supporter

I got that like 10 times.

Spammer that everyone is talking about since the Mt. Gox fail

He also announces that if "something they don't like is going on they'll close the exchange"

ie, if someone decides they need some cash to pay rent it's perfectly possible they'll close the exchange because he tried to sell a large number of bitcoins.
They also said they will ask the community if they should have a kill switch, I'm sure they will work around legitimate transactions and something that looks suspicious.

Well Jered is doing better in answering questions and doing a basic interview. Guess the Adam guy just got choked up.

Can't believe the Adam Stradling from TradHill couldn't answer the question, "if they will do something if there is multiple failed attempts at loging in." Basic security measures to counter brute forcing...

You sure the OS see all 3 cards and the 2nd miner isn't on cpu?
71  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Since Mt.Gox failed anyone going to TradeHill with me? on: June 20, 2011, 01:46:04 AM
Lulz.  Random referrals FTW.
You provided info and didn't whore your link.  I think I might go with you as my referral (I'm sizing up my options at the moment).

Thank you. I'm giving my honest opinion and just wanted some referrals if there are others that see my same view and they were going to sign up anyway. Of course I wanted to do it more tastefully than that A-hole spammer.
72  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Since Mt.Gox failed anyone going to TradeHill with me? on: June 20, 2011, 01:39:12 AM
Tradehill is a legit exchange.  It's the second most-used exchange that uses dwolla and bases trades on USD.  I've made a number of trades on it myself, and my commission is now down to 0.50%.  Saving about 25% vs MtGox already!

Thank you for giving your experience and opinion. Again I'm just going to the next best thing behind Mt. Gox in my opinion. I just never bothered to make an account cause I was already at Mt. Gox. Now I want to move and think most ppl would.

Hilarious. The spam invite from some random TradeHill member really turns me off though... (obviously not to the fault of TradeHill itself.)

Yea I got the same email, I figured I'll start a thread about it instead and not get in your face with spam.
73  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Since Mt.Gox failed anyone going to TradeHill with me? on: June 20, 2011, 01:35:33 AM
I think they would have good volume. Before the Mt. Gox incident there were positive reports on TradeHill. I'm simply going to what I think is the next best thing. Keys for me is volume, because that will make liquidity easy for me. That and I already have a good way to fund it. But mainly because of volume. Plus TradeHill reacted fast once they discovered the Mt. Gox database leak. They froze everything once they got wind of it, giving time for users to take safety measures. Seems like they take security more seriously than Mt. Gox which first caught wind of a breach 3 days ago and did nothing until this hit the masses today.

Since Mt.gox failed anyone going to TradeHill?

I'll be honest I started this thread to get the referrals since I just signged up at TradeHill due to Mt. Gox's failure on a security breach that was reported for a while and they just kept lying about it until they couldn't no more. No more business with them for me. I already started up a dwolla account which was how I moved money in and out of Mt. Gox, since TradeHill also excepts Dwolla the change is no big deal for me.

If anyone is doing or planning to do the same, help me out and use the referral code if you were going to migrate over there anyway. Thanks guys  Roll Eyes

78  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Organize class-action suit if our BTC and/or $$$ is gone after MtGox is back up on: June 19, 2011, 11:39:55 PM
Anything MagicalTux says lately can't even be taken with a grain of salt. I mean first there is no security breach. Then he says oh its fine its all encrypted yada yada. And now the real story comes out. Can you really believe him at this point? I'm sure most accounts are untouched but some will be fucked up for sure.
79  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Double Trouble (Instant/Automatic) w/ Partial Refunds! on: June 19, 2011, 11:19:21 PM
I assume you will announce if the game will postpone or not before midnight
80  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Double Trouble (Instant/Automatic) w/ Partial Refunds! on: June 19, 2011, 10:55:15 PM
I pm'd you, suggested a full day instead of 3 hours cause then it would just be taking 3 hours of game time away from the following day. Who wants an extension? Speak up now before he makes a decision.
