64  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is PayPal now feeling the pressure from Bitcoin? on: October 12, 2017, 01:10:09 PM
Last year the same CEO of PayPal gave an statement that if he has known about bitcoin and the innovation in the past, he would have used bitcoin as the platform. I don't think such a pressure is there for PayPal, because it has an large user base and functions on a centralized system. Maybe in future both will function on a joint platform.

THey have enough capital to acquire decentralized platform shortly and name it PayBTCPal))
65  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: is it risky to turn all my money to bitcoins? on: October 12, 2017, 01:07:27 PM
is it risky to turn all my money to bitcoins? anyhow this money sits in the bank and do nothing for!

Yes, it's risky to turn all your money into bitcoin. Bitcoin is volatile and if you know what you are entering you understand the risk that you'll be taking. And if your money is just staying in the bank and earning with a very low interest better to take the risk in bitcoin by buying at dip and wait for it to grow. The profit in bitcoin may grow in lesser time than your expectation. More risk, more profit but invest only what you afford to lose.

Man, always diversify it...don't put all your eggs in 1 basket. Risk management is No1 Priority!
66  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bought my first BTC @ $4600, slightly worried on: October 12, 2017, 12:59:35 PM
Anyway: the 2nd wave of news regarding shutdown of local exchanges hit hours after I made the purchace, and the value plummeted (it's now hovering just above $4000, that's a 13% decrease). Lesson learned I guess. I've been lurking on the forums for a couple of months trying to pick up some sound advice from you guys, and from what I've gathered I should stick with holding for 5-10 years instead of panicking. But honestly, it's tough to ride the lows.

Any words of encouragement? Grin I guess I'm not the only one who've had a nervous start in the world of cryptocurrencies. Anyone else feeling like they "need" to acquire 1 BTC before the train leaves the station for good?

Sure. Even for old timers, there is a perpetual feeling that one doesn't have enough coins. But such market sentiment (greed) is inevitably balanced by fear, and the nature of markets is to test the mettle of its participants. That means squeezing bulls and bears alike. If I were you, I'd prepare for the worst, which from here looks like a return to the $2000s. In the interim, there is major support in the $3000s, perhaps after a stop run below the $3600 low.

For all I know, this is just a shakeout before new all-time highs next week. But it's also possible that you bought a long term top. You need to be prepared for that. Undecided

Always remember. Markets are manipulated. Dont keep BTC just to keep them, make it an active capital + dont forget to diversify it into other ALTcoins.

68  Economy / Speculation / Re: Another Bitcoin fork on 25 October on: October 12, 2017, 12:52:31 PM
I think bitcoin price will grow massively before the fork.
People will try to get free bitcoin gold
For that people need to have bitcoin in their wallet.
And remember Bitcoin will always remain King.
Good strategy tho to attract more investments and pump the value
69  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin will be 10k in the next 6-10 months! on: October 12, 2017, 12:51:11 PM

79  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I don't trust mybitcoin, but how come so many trust it? on: July 17, 2011, 01:33:27 PM
Avoid them at all costs. They do not respond through the support messaging system and therefore will not be held accountable for any server glitches or mistakes. Server glitches have happened in the past, and undoubtedly will happen in the future, so you're better off getting comfortable with the Satoshi client.
80  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Mybitcoin is a scam! on: July 14, 2011, 12:57:55 PM
I lost 0.5 BTC to them during an autopay when they went down on the 3rd.  I emailed and received no response so far.  FFS it's only 0.5 BTC, but it's my 1/2 coin not theirs.

I will be patient, but I will not send any more coins to them until this is cleared up and may just send directly to Gox in the future.

This was my experience as well. Pool -> MyBitcoin autopay happened to occur during their unscheduled downtime. Deposit disappeared, and technical support never responded. I was patient... for a week. Then I pulled out.
