Morons dump for no reason!!  Angry Angry

The reason is Bitcoin:
1. FUD caused by South Korea’s new tax law.
2. CME’s futures contracts going to expire on 26 January, most likely to be another win for shorts (CBOE closed for bears too).
3. Weak hands being wiped out of the game.

I hope you are correct and things will turn around soon  Smiley

I agree with above reasons although many people could have gotten dissapointed with quality/content of delivered video that was being prepared for roughly 2-3 months, sorry Weifa, nothing against project, but I think there were hopes to see at least snapshots of new interface or possibly some extra marketing involved... not huge fan of it myself, but gaining a little bit of traction could also help developers support additional expenses and give room for more future planning. Also benefit of greater community which can offer specialized help by directly working on the project - unless after application release developers are planning to shut-down project from development point of view and let Geo Application live it's own life  Cheesy

Crypto is filled with marketing, many of which are scams like Bitconnect (or my new scam candidate DavorCoin), and they take a lot of potential steam off great projects which can provide value to business and/or create extra awareness around crypto-space like Geo; tell me who wouldn't tell their friends of being able to snap few tokens here and there during a walk or on the way somewhere, they won't be worth much as mentioned today inflation is tiny, but they would get a chance to use and understand crypto without having to "invest financially", if they like it maybe in the future they will invest in other great projects, to mention Ubiq for example.

In the end all coins deal with some sort of inflation and most markets absorb it better or worse. Geo is planning to have fractional inflation comparing to others in coming years therefore market won't get slaughter with inflow of tens of thousands dollars daily - case for 90% of the coins/tokens. Thank you Weifa and rest of developers for setting this sort of inflation plan, I believe this choice will have many long term benefits for Geo. Good luck with the rest of swap!  Smiley

Can anyone tell me is Yobit supporting this swap?  Undecided Undecided
We have reached out to YoBit exchange but have not received any response from our support ticket or twitter messages.  We recommend that all users withdraw their coins from YoBit, and migrate them to either Bittrex or Cryptopia if possible.  The other alternative is to migrate the balances into the GEO desktop wallet, you will need to Sign a Message to prove ownership of the wallet address.  The balance captured in the snapshot will be credited.

So are you confirming that Cryptopia will be part of this swap?

I have seen some coins or tokens after its swap Yobit has still been trading the old coin creating confusion between newbies or people who is not informed about swaps. I hope this is not the case with GEO, but I remember when DBIC migrated as a token, Yobit was creating a big confusion and was trading DBIC for long time.

What's the difference if they trade Geo coin in the future? People can still withdraw and do the manual swap for Geo Token with the developers if they decide to.

Down to 46k xD I lost faith in humanity hahahahahah

wish I could get email address of people selling today so I could ask them a question what is their thought process.

Ion coin pump 180% today with no news!! geo will do similar soon!!

I think the difference might be that Geo will have an actual news and 180% may be short-sighted Tongue but lets not get ahead of ourselves, I would be fine with slow, but positive momentum.
65  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [GEO] GeoCoin | GIS & GeoTechnologies on: January 22, 2018, 01:08:40 AM
it seems this project is doomed !

10 BTC 24 hour volume, there is a storm coming.

It likes to get quiet before the storm Tongue

Will anyone tell me what we (coin holders) will get after the swap?

You will get Geo Tokens.
So i will have Geo coins as well as Geo Tokens after the swap?

I think you will receive the new GEO tokens and Bittrex will swap them, so you won't hold the previous GEO blockchain tokens.

So will the price go higher or lower? Your Thoughts...

Well from my biased perspective as I own GEO, when the swap was announced the price jumped 300%+ and I know many Twitter crypto users have been mentioning GEO lately so I would expect to see some movement again once the swap actually happens. Even if this doesn't happen for a second time I am going to hold for a couple years out of pure speculation so short-term price swings don't really bother me.

Having said this is completely up to the devs, so if they announced the total supply would increase by 100% then GEO could really dump badly. I wouldn't expect that to be the case though as it could damage investors confidence in GEO in the short-term, but could be healthy long-term. I don't that is the case though as the dev has said 1:1 swap, so my guess is there won't be any new coins in circulation but we are just waiting for now.

I very much agree. Project itself went very unoticed for long period of time while it actually provides a viable use-case for crypto and what's even better Geo team has app coming soon it seems. Not sure if short-term wise this is gonna blow or settle back down around 20-30k satoshi, but I believe it has more to show if you consider BitConnect is still, after all recent events, valued at 220milion$ while Geo circulates around 20milion$ Cheesy

I will put it like this - in my mind Geo Token is worth much more than Geo Coin Smiley

Not to mention news of new application coming soon.

ps. I don't mean to talk you into buying. If developers release news tomorrow that inflation will be higher (50-60%?) in order to have tons of GeoTokens spawning on new interface then price is likely to drop hard.

In theory yes, but if you keep them on exchange 'Geo Coin' will no longer be traded and exchange will credit you with equivilent amount of Geo Tokens to what you had of Geo Coins therefore exchange won't even allow you to withdraw Geo Coins (considering them worthless). If you keep them on your wallet and do the manual swap with the developers you will likely still be in posession of Geo Coins (although the network itself is likely to be literally useless as there will be no mining power backing it - all miners will quit mining Geo Coin as it will no longer be traded on exchanges and they won't be making money mining it).

Long story short - swap does not give you any more coins, there probably won't be any proof-of-stake mechanism involved as well, but the network specification is going to change and it has not been disclosed yet how. Likely we will see reduced inflation (currently stands high at roughly 15-20% yearly) and mining mechanism is going to be replaced with Geo-Token world-spawning. You can preview how it looks on the old interface - https://geocoin.cash/ but in preparation to the swap developers disabled collecting coins on the current version of the Geo website and soon after the swap should replace it with the new application based on MapBox interface.

Also recently I read comments by many people saying that they downloaded some "GeoCoin" App from googlestore or iStore - watch out as it is a scam and the developers have not yet their application (release date should be announced soon).

Hey Weifa, don't mean to bother you too much, but I thought video was coming pre-swap to explain it's characteristics and future plans. As we get closer to the swap I start to wonder if that's still the plan? Thanks in advance Smiley
Yes I plan to work on the video this Sunday!

Great!!!  Grin Good luck and let's keep Geo rolling!

Who the fuck is selling at 54k satoshi when an hour ago it was sold over 70k? People and logic in crypto xD
73  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [GEO] GeoCoin | GIS & GeoTechnologies on: January 16, 2018, 09:34:48 PM
I think this is just the beginning IMO.

Whats your forecast?

Imo it really depends. Short term we could see 30$, mid-long term maybe even 100$. In general I think it's very undervalued project, but who knows... if crypto goes wild (2trillion$ cap on all coins/tokens) we may see things no one expected... if crypto goes to shit we may be just playing 'crypto pokemon go' by ourselves and visit each other to drop coins Wink

As an enthusiast I don't intend on selling/dumping therefore I don't look at price as much, I could sell 50-100 coins at 30$ each and go on nice holidays, but I am not as much after price in short term.

ps. don't get me wrong, I enjoy positive price movements and I do get scared when I see people dumping, but at same time I feel this project has great fundamentals.

Growth in a bear market is a great thing, a lot of people are noticing GEO on Bittrex as one of the highest gainers of the last 24 hours. So I mean as long as BTC doesn't really start to go to shit like dropping under $8k I think this trend will continue for a few days, by tomorrow we could see a new floor over 100k sat if the 24h volume keeps building and that isn't hard as it isn't even a few hundred BTC yet. I am going to hold long term as well though, find it very difficult to call short-term price swings but I think it will be much higher than this in a few years.

I totally agree about growth in bear market, it is looking great indeed. For Btc it gets little tricky, I could totally see it reach 8k$, but question is will it stay there or rebounce like back in September after China announced it's crypto exchange ban. Something tells me crypto is not over, I personally know many people who didn't invest in crypto in 2017 and are just waiting for the time to get onboard... funny how they only see the Btc price tag as the time to enter Wink)

Even thought crypto markets are being slaughter I also have a feeling it is going to be very good week for us Smiley

I've just sent a tweet out to YoBit as they have not responded to my recent support ticket.  We'll see if we hear back, but we recommend users start migrating their balances over to Bittrex or Cryptopia to avoid the risk of missing the swap.  Please like and retweet to get more attention from YoBit  Smiley

By the way you said it I assume cryptopia is support the swap as well Smiley very glad.

Thank you for handling it Weifa!

Price dumping so hard Sad Saw somebody buy 9 BTC at 61k they must be shocked. I expect this is whale games before pump around news of swap  Cool

What happend 2 weeks ago was very unexpected imo as market did not get any additional information about the swap or outlook on the future of the project. The project itself is undervalued, but I am not surprised that people who bought at 20$ and see their btc's vanish decide to jump with whatever they have left; after all we are a week away and we still know nothing about specification of the new blockchain.

I saw many buy in above 60k I think it will not stay at these prices long personally

Think so too, got some friends rushing home to buy. lul

Since Bittrex doesen't accept new registrations, is it better to leave the coins on cryptopia or put the on a desktop wallet?

Thank you!

A week ago (8th January) Weifa (developer) sent a message on discord -

Quote
Hey everyone, sorry for my absense it has proven to be a very busy Holiday Season and New Year and I'm busy getting things organized for the upcoming blockchain upgrade.
so to try and answer some of your questions in no particular order.
I'm discussing with the Cryptopia devs to try and get their confirmation.  They have been very helpful so far and I'm hopeful they will also be assisting with the swap.  Any people who have balances on Cryptopia currently I'd keep them there for now.
Bittrex has confirmed their support of the upcoming blockchain upgrade, scheduled for January 25th 2018.  The details are described in the following post: https://support.bittrex.com/hc/en-us/articles/115003177652-Support-for-the-GeoCoin-GEO-blockchain-upgrade
Some people have asked about collecting GEO from the map.  Currently we are under development, so you will need to wait until after the blockchain upgrade has occurred.
We need to do a lot of work, replacing the wallet backend is priority to handle the new GEO ERC20 tokens.  Once that is fully setup, we will push for launching the new MapBox interface.
In terms of the GEO blockchain upgrade, we are doing a 1:1 exchange of GEO:GEO.  Often people ask me if they will be getting UBQ instead of GEO, which is not the case.  All the GEO balances will be taken and migrated to the Ubiq Network as GEO tokens.
thank you all for your interest and support of the GeoCoin project, these are truly exciting times

I bolded out a part about cryptopia, seems like we should keep them there for now.

Any ideas, guys, why coinmarketcap and worldcoinindex show different market cap for Geo?

It's about $10.7mln on worldcoinindex  and $26.6mln on coinmarketcap (when the price is about $7.9)

There's a difference in Circulating Supply on these sites.

But wich is the correct number?

If you check explorer it says "Outstanding: 3,380,746 GEO" - https://chainz.cryptoid.info/geo/

Therefore coinmarketcap number seems more accurate, but during swap wallets that are not located on bittrex/cryptopia (cryptopia to be confirmed) will not be included therefore new blockchain is likely to consist of lower number of coins/tokens. Although it may change as developers announced plans to allow manual swaps past the official swap date which could result in supply spikes in the future (should not be too significant as only about 1m coins are not on exchanges at this time).
