Doog, could you post the invested amount over time as well? It seems that it has been tapering out due to lack of action (and corresponding lack of meaningful return) recently. Thanks!

The way I see it is that the whale got a freeroll, on a line of credit that the house extended erroneously. If the whale had won 2,000 instead and immediately deposited 1,300 to cover the line of credit, would it be fair to roll that back too?
What if he deposited 650 before he started playing. Would the winnings and/or losses be cut in half?
Hypothetical situations, yes. But worth thinking about.
Doog is both an investor and the managing operator, and it requires 100% trust since only he has access to the secret key and the cold wallet. Root access comes with great responsibility.
I have no doubts whatsoever about Doog's integrity. For me personally, investment in the BTC world is all about two things. Trust that the investment will not be stolen, and trust that the operation will be run well.
For the record, I would have been fine with an immediate rollback. Someone should take the loss, be it Doog or the investors, and move on. For the house to win you need action, and antagonizing whales due to indecisiveness only drives action away. Yes, the whale was an asshole but it was not his fault that he was given a freeroll. Write off the loss and invite the whale to get action and make up the loss. I divested mainly because of the way this situation was handled.
I have received both my investment and donation back, and I wish JD and Doog success. This is one of the most well thought out and transparent sites I have seen. Maybe I will revisit in the future.

Doog opted to take ownership of his own mistake and do the honorable thing. Yes, technically he could have claimed it as an operating loss and charged the investors for the mistake, however IMO that would have damaged the reputation of both JD and Doog beyond repair.
In the BTC world, investing is all about trust. I think most of us agree that the long term value of JD is far greater than the 1300 lost to a mistake.
As an investor I am concerned to see this type of mistake by the operator, but also reassured by the actions taken. Personally I feel for Doog and will donate all investment profits for the next few months. I see great potential in JD, and I hope Doog recovers from this temporary setback.

Seems like FriedCat is having the COMMUNITY pants down over these blades and selling them to us mugs at twice the price he is offering in mainland China: Here is a nice 130Gh/s rig for sale at RMB 39999 ![](https://ip.bitcointalk.org/?u=https%3A%2F%2Fi.imgur.com%2Fqw6PrtD.png&t=663&c=aZ6LdItoOPg9tw) Here is a translation using google translate: Price: ¥ 39999.00 Logistics Freight: Shanghai | to National Express: ¥ 15.00 seller promises delivery within 24 hours 30 days sold: 1 Average price: No rating Baby Type: New 4281 views Payment: Quick payment online banking payment Someone to pay the consumer card balances Alipay payment outlets Unfold 39999 Yuan or RMB is approx USD 6500 ( FOR 10 x 10Gh/s BLADES but can give 130Gh/s) which is being offered to us chumps at 18.9 BTC each blade? dont see anything there about it being a deposit, seems like full price to me and delivery within 24 hours. Please tell me I am wrong and FriedCat is not shafting everyone who does not live in China. I will boycot this and start buying my ASIC's from some of the independents. There seem to be more and more popping up each day and cheaper too. cheers, kev Just to make sure, I contacted the seller. They are no longer selling the old blades (10~13G for 56BTC) and are accepting orders for the new 10G blades for BTC 18.88 each, to be shipped in 10 days from friedcat (Shenzhen, southern China) directly. Those in China may get the goods faster but not significantly cheaper. I agree but its not dead yet. ASICMINER is in it for the money. They do not care about bitcoin's future. Otherwise they should NOT be mining and just sell hardware. They could limit the amount of GHs per order so 1 person cant order several THs. This would at least slow down the centralization somewhat.
Bitcoin doesn't need ASICMiner to "care about Bitcoin's future". Can you imagine how horribly fragile (and ultimately doomed to failure) a system would be if it required all actors to be altruistic? Bitcoin just needs ASICMiner to be economically rational and as a for profit venture it is. Spot on. ASICMiner responds to market conditions (specifically, the increasing hashrate which is an indicator of new hardware coming online) appropriately by aggressively pricing and delivering. Their price point is aggressive enough to entice people who are optimistic (or challenged at math) to purchase their hardware. However, their main source of income from their documents is by far their mining operations. From a business perspective it means that they are making a killing off of their hardware sales even at their current relatively competitive pricing, since their mining operations are far more profitable using the same hardware. Their primary responsibility as a corporation is to maximize shareholder value, not to be altruistic to the Bitcoin economy. And they have done an exceptional job for the shareholders.
