61  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Vega closed case on: April 14, 2018, 02:20:29 AM
I have the fans at 67% (2485rpm) right now.  Case fans cranked up too.  Higher than that is unbearable.  This is a workstation not a dedicated mining rig.

The warmer of the two Vega hashes 1450 h/s.  The cooler of the two 1900 h/s.  While that is not impressive it is a big step up over the 1080 I had in here before that managed 945 h/s.  Even the warmer/slower of the two Vega is a step up over that.  The 1080 was nearly silent - which was nice.

If I absolutely must remove a card I could mod the case, get a riser, and set it outside the computer.  Will that be necessary to alleviate this situation?  Maybe.

Couple photos here.  As you can see your standard 2.5 slot dual card issue going on.  The side fan does push some good air right over the gap.  Only so much it can do.   Sad

The warmer card runs memory temps 70-73c. Core around 60c.

I haven't set any lower p states yet but will try if that might help these load temps significantly.

And yah top card has a little over 1/2" clearance from the back of the lower one. Fan blows right on it but doesn't seem to help enough.
63  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Vega closed case on: April 13, 2018, 09:52:19 PM
I'm trying to mine cryptonight with two asus rog vegas in a closed case.  Air flow and ambient temps are fine.

Fans on both gpu 80%.  One gpu is much warmer than the other which seems common in closed case dual gpu systems.

I have tried using wattman to lower the power -25% and downclock the memory to mem_p3=800;850.  gpu_p6=1212;905 and gpu_p7=1407;950.

I have not tried (yet) to adjust lower pstates.  If I adjust the power setting down further it helps but hash bottoms out near 1080ti territory.

Am I wasting my time trying to get this card to run cooler?
64  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: adrenaline 18.3.4 missing compute toggle on: April 13, 2018, 03:44:56 AM
I have windows 10.  I'm using afterburner.

Hash rates are pretty terrible.  One card is around 850 h/s the other 750 h/s.  Memory temps are in the low 70s and core in the mid 60s.  The card that hashes lowest I have to run -20% on the power or it gets stupid hot and throttles.  If I put the fans on 100% that helps sure but it is unbelievably loud.

I have a case with good fans and airflow but I just don't know if it can handle these two Vega.

Clearly I don't know wtf I'm doing here.
65  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: adrenaline 18.3.4 missing compute toggle on: April 13, 2018, 03:26:28 AM
Thanks.

So this is normal then?  Do you need to drop back to the release driver instead of the optional to get the setting back?
66  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / adrenaline 18.3.4 missing compute toggle on: April 13, 2018, 02:28:13 AM
Is this normal behavior?

I have windows 10.  The 18.3.4 driver is not showing the compute toggle.  It just isn't there.

What do soft power tables do?  I don't get why they're needed.
68  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero - A secure, private, untraceable cryptocurrency on: April 10, 2018, 01:22:44 AM
I'm sticking with it no matter.  The mining payouts have been pretty dismal though.  Expected much better when difficulty and hash dropped by 3/4.

6000 kh/s and I've made about 0.135 monero in 3 days.  Bloody awful.
69  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero - A secure, private, untraceable cryptocurrency on: April 09, 2018, 01:12:32 AM
Already close to 300 mh/s and climbing fast.  Difficulty 35,651,679,881.

I hope it stabilizes soon.  It may see a spike while nicehash and everyone else decides to stick their rigs on it.
70  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero - A secure, private, untraceable cryptocurrency on: April 08, 2018, 08:27:36 PM
It looks like it bottomed out now.  Network hash rate in the low 200 mh/s region.  Difficulty in the 25,000,000,000 area too.

Hopefully it stays that way for a while.  I expect it won't however and it will start climbing up though probably not the level it was pre-fork.
71  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero - A secure, private, untraceable cryptocurrency on: April 07, 2018, 01:57:05 PM
Well shoot.  Tried running XMR STAK to get my 1080ti in the picture and it's failing.  Doesn't barely even get started and I receive this error:

[CUDA] Error gpu 0: <c:/xmr-stak/xmrstak/backend/nvidia/nvcc_code/cuda_extra.cu>:365

Crashes almost immediately doesn't really give me much to go on here to fix it.  GPU is at 85% tdp and core is overclocked +125.  Memory at defaults.  Settings work fine for ccminer-phi.  I doubt the overclock is the issue here.  I tried launching it as administrator and it didn't help either.

I'm experimenting and can't figure this out.  I get a CUDA error when I launch XMR STAK.  What would cause that?  Using the latest drivers.

Will this software mine with the CPU and the GPU concurrently and automatically or are two separate clients running at the same time required?

Error I receive is: [CUDA] Error gpu 0: <c:/xmr-stak/xmrstak/backend/nvidia/nvcc_code/cuda_extra.cu>:365
73  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: CCminer(SP-MOD) Modded NVIDIA Maxwell / Pascal kernels. on: April 07, 2018, 01:00:00 PM
I quit using the leaked spmod for lux.  I felt guilty doing it.  And there is a trojan in some if not all leaked copies.

So I'm back on the release miner for phi and down some hash.  Oh well.  SP can charge what he wants it's his work.  Some salty tears in this thread.

I would be happy to buy if the cost was .005btc for a small six gpu rig like mine.  It's up to him if he wants to change his licensing scheme.

Usually this isn't an issue because the pool finds blocks often and it only takes a couple of hours to mature, but the network is going really slow now because of the sudden drop in network hashrate.
And you're right.  It took over 24 hours but the pool does show a small amount due this morning.

Question is do I switch my spare 1080ti to this algo.  Shame they are so terrible at mining monero.
75  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: To ALL GPU fellow miners. on: April 07, 2018, 03:18:03 AM
My 1080 rig is still on LUX however I have a spare 1080 I'm thinking about mining Monero with.  Screw these ASIC twats and their defenders can go get stuffed too.
76  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 1080Ti Specific - Best mining option on: April 07, 2018, 03:12:30 AM
I pulled my 1080ti off RVN once the difficulty went up to 25K.  Just way too uphill for me at least with one card anyway.  Wish I had started mining that one four months ago.  Now everybody jumped on it and its ruined.
77  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero - A secure, private, untraceable cryptocurrency on: April 07, 2018, 02:40:14 AM
I've had two Ryzen CPU on supportxmr.com since this morning.  Around 800 h/s.  The pool still shows 0.0000000000 due.

I realize I'm not some hashing powerhouse here but shouldn't there be at least some XMR due by now?  Seriously the pool is carrying that figure out to ten decimal places.
78  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero - A secure, private, untraceable cryptocurrency on: April 06, 2018, 05:26:04 PM
Support XMR shows a reduction in pool hash rate however still says 1.14 gh/s for network hash rate.

Is there a problem?
79  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero - A secure, private, untraceable cryptocurrency on: April 06, 2018, 12:58:07 PM
Well I don't have much.  But I did put a couple ryzen CPU on it this morning via supportxmr.

Got NVidia GPU which don't hash great on this algo so that's it for me.  Wink

Switching my two Ryzen off ETN in the morning and on to XMR7 Smiley

Just need to get the wallet tomorrow morning first thing.
