62  Economy / Securities / Re: [HAVELOCK] CasinoBitco.in (CBTC) IPO Official Thread on: September 05, 2013, 09:33:41 PM
Are you, or are you planning to be a registered company? In which jurisdiction?
Where do you live? Is it legal to operate gambling site in your country?
The company is registered as a legal entity in Panama.
All servers run offshore in Ireland and Hong Kong.

Is anyone familiar with US law related to gambling/betting? I thought that the location of the servers is irrelevant if you live in USA (you do) and/or serving US customers.
What is the worst case scenario here - could US police (or regulator or whoever) confiscate the BTC? What is your plan for such legal complications?

I played a lot of online poker when it was still legal in the U.S. and even though the servers were in Ireland or some such place for Full Tilt Poker, they still got the government killswitch for U.S.-based participants. I think this will be a genuine concern in the future
63  Economy / Securities / Re: [HAVELOCK] CasinoBitco.in (CBTC) IPO Official Thread on: September 05, 2013, 08:54:26 PM

So how does $10k (let's estimate each BTC as being $100 and just say it's 100 BTC) + 625 BTC somehow end up being worth 4860 BTC? Based on my mathematics that's only 725 BTC (and that is a LOW estimate), far from being even close to your valuation.

Where's the other 4155 BTC coming from?

Current assets, go into but are not the only thing guiding the valuation, in brick and mortar 2-5 year profits are utilized to value the company in a sell.

uvwvj, Exactly, I think that's the payback period "pitched" for many franchises out there.

Just as a warning, I think this same guy (ranlo) asked the same question of Crypto Currency and had a very difficult time understanding that more than just book value goes into the calculation of a valuation. So he may come back in here asking more questions about it.
64  Economy / Securities / Re: [IPO] Letsdice.com IPO Prospectus on: September 05, 2013, 04:35:37 PM
Keep in mind out of the 5145 funding the IPO, 5100 BTC he is self-funding under an alias nakowa/cici/celeste

no, mine is 4500BTC.

however, if at the end of the day, funding is not up to 8000, I'll buy them up. Smiley

Why did you even bother with an IPO if you were going to just take up the vast majority of ownership? Why not just seed the project privately?
65  Economy / Securities / Re: [ActiveMining] The Official Active Mining Discussion Thread on: September 05, 2013, 04:32:56 PM
If not already in progress, can I please suggest that a full ActiveMining / VMC PR Piece be done and released to the various online Bitcoin news sites.

Personally I have had enough of reading about other companies announcing lesser machines and hardware technologies on these sites, this would bring in a lot of new business and pre-orders for VMC.

I have used the below user to formulate a PR and Marketing release for my IRL Business, and it has already done wonders for us:
Psybits - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=75383

I don't like to voice negative points on this thread, however I will be sincerely disappointed if this momentum isn't maintained with a simple task such as this. Not for the share prices which are a by product but for what we are trying to build with ActiveMining.

Although I'm sure they are most likely preparing an article as we speak, if thegenesisblock doesn't come out with something about this announcement, I would very much question their motives. It is pretty big news in the mining/security world and they should be reporting on it.
66  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER: Entering the Future of ASIC Mining by Inventing It on: September 05, 2013, 03:42:34 PM
It's real simple folks:

- AM hash-share has dropped from near 50% to under 10%
- Prices of hardware have fallen massively and will only ever get lower, as competition increases and ROI drops over time for buyers.

Given these two facts the shares have fallen from their massively over-valued 5BTC, to a more realistic 2BTC. If things stay the same I wouldn't be surprised to see the price fall further still.

To see a price rise AM would have to post some massive change to the mining and huge hardware sales.

While this is of course true, it also seems people have forgotten about AM's rollout plans for 800-1000 TH before year-end and the Gen 2 chips. That said, I think we will see a stabilization around 3 BTC once the 'panic' caused by a lot of noobs that purchased shares around 4.5 BTC selling off.

I found that on GenesisBlock, but can you point me to any public statement from FriedCat about the schedule of rolling out 1PH/s by the end of the year?

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=235763.msg2610934#msg2610934

Has anything changed since the end of June that would make this statement not true?

[stuff]
So... you're against empirical A/B testing, you just wanna go with your gut? Cool, whatever. My suggestion was simple and motivated by a desire to help out. Your monologue was detractive and only tangentially related, although I'm sure your intent was not entirely self aggrandizing. But thanks for the insight, I'm sure it will be useful after empirical tests. Or, hell, come up with slogany things that take more than two seconds to come up with (like my off-the-cuff suggestion of "99% player odds", which you took the time to base an argument on, but I already suggested was only a shot in the dark), and test those, too - after all, it's evidence of success versus known alternatives that matters.

That is, if anyone wants to actually test results. Which is all I suggested in the first place.

As someone who works in the field of marketing and deals which market research frequently, what radiumsoup is suggesting is the logical option and will get the most accurate results. Depending on the sample size, of course. Fuggedit is basing his advice off of his personal opinions and feelings and applying a sample size of one to the entire population. We tend to find in market research that this generally is not an accurate way to find out a consumer/markets general preference. This is a subjective matter, people's opinion of what sounds better or what connotations each phrase has will vary widely. To get a good sense of what the true sentiment is overall, you do need empirical testing.

Wait which is the one boasting that Cointerra's team is the toppest notchest? (Nothing 'gainst them, just using the reference here)

It wasn't ytt?

This is Ytterbium in every thread:

You know, you actually seem quite insecure about your own intelligence. Clinging to the "Doctor" title so much you put it in your forum handle. I know people who have PhDs in mathematics and computer science, and they never refer to themselves as "Dr." - it reads as more then a little desperate.

The fact that you've had an apparent adverse emotional reaction to someone pointing out your less then stellar academic record further indicates your insecurity about your actual academic abilities and record.

I don't want people to get scammed and lose all their money. I also don't want people to lose all their money by investing with charlatans. I don't think it's "trolling" to pose questions about a fund manager asking for other people's money, especially when they're not even willing to tell people what they're going to do with it. To me, you appear to be presenting yourself as someone who's more successful then they actually are. That presentation seems fundamentally dishonest to me.

If people want to trust you, that's obviously they're choice. But there's nothing wrong with pointing out problems and concerns people should have.

If that bothers you, well, that's just too bad.

Ok give it a rest man, everyone understands your position. you think it seems scammy, you think he isn't smart, and you think he should identify himself but he shouldn't share the fact that he has a doctorate. Thank you for being a concerned bitcoin community member, but please just give it a rest now.

Why do you guys insist on spamming our thread when you get a bump in share value? Good on you! Glad to see your investment is working out. Could you not spam pictures of the titanic in this thread though?

Crumbs is a 'general' troll, he trolls in every single thread.  Just put him on ignore like everyone else does. He never says anything worthwhile.

Would you say the same about pankkake, drawingthesun, damiano, and mabsark? They all took the short-lived spike in share price to come here and spam our thread. I know they may be frustrated with trolling done by StuartUK but most of us don't participate or condone that. I'd like to see more discussion, much like Vbs and yourself have had in the past, on our thread and yours. I'll be honest, your recent post from the eASIC website is borderline trollfodder, but I will give you the benefit of the doubt as you seem to be pretty legitimate in your inquiries lately.

I find it interesting that ActM has benefited more from the Labcoin "update" than Labcoin as, at least in the short-term.

The reason i post is simple.  The bitcoin community is in the midst of ASICmania -- a filthy affliction driven by unmitigated greed and unapologetic stupidity (and possibly lack of personal hygiene and promiscuity, but this is debatable).  It's gotten so bad that people trying to save you -- the very voices of reason -- are vilified and condemned as trolls.

I have to admit that my motives are selfish at least in part:  I use bitcoin, i don't want to be embarrassed by it.

So brave. So noble.

LOL at the 'Public note' spam on the ASICMiner Div Address today:

"Public Note: Hello, dear Sir! Please read the short text at this link - http://[removed].blogspot.com/. You REALY can help! Great thank you!"

eh?

Anyway my div prediction: 0.014

Very close! 0.01404192 BTC/share

Where can we find this information?

Whereas you're just a troll on BTC-Growth who got repeatedly slayed by Dr. G. You're a strange character, Ytterbium.
73  Economy / Securities / Re: [HAVELOCK] Dealcoin Official Thread on: September 03, 2013, 07:23:01 PM
^ Yeah, I would have loved to have been able to invest in LocalBitcoins at a similar stage in their history. I'm holding.

I'm skeptical as to how high this will go though, given that the dividends are fixed for the first year.  Anyone have any thoughts on that?

I predict 0.02 by the end of the day, so you better cancel your asks Wink

DIVIDENDS ARE NOT EVERYTHING WHEN IT COMES TO A COMPANY'S VALUE. Their plans for growth and product/service are vastly more important.

...the problem is this guy is a huckster, pretending to be some uber-smart "Professor Dr." when in reality he's just some ridiculous SEO faker...

Wow, Ytterbium. You've done a masterful job of lowering the tone of the conversation right down into the gutter.

If you'd like to invest as much time reading material that was actually written by me as you've invested in denigrating my character, I would welcome your input. And if you'd like to offer any substantive criticism -- for example, on any of the strategies I've discussed on Psychological Investor, or on anything else relevant to asset management -- then I'm sure that could go a long way toward restoring the conversation to a more civil and productive level.

However, if you envision your principal contribution as leveraging your anonymity in order to hurl abuse at me or at others, then I would encourage you to consider whether your efforts might be more welcome over in the section specifically dedicated to scam accusations.
I think I might be in love with you.

Hahah. He really is not afraid to give trolls the business. No-nonsense type guy, I like it.
75  Economy / Securities / Re: [BTC-TC] BTC Growth: Capital Growth via Hedge Fund-Style Investing on: September 03, 2013, 04:13:37 PM
The next Pirateat40. Anyone who invests in this is going to get destroyed.

I can't prove that you're wrong but I would at least ask you to ask yourself why someone who has had an impressive career in academia, the professions and industry would 'do a' Pirateat40. Greg would be giving up a lot to do that.

What impressive career in academia?  I only see a single paper from him on Google scholar, some new-agey gobbledygook about 'quantum minds' written in the 90s that isn't even formatted like a proper academic article.

I have friends in academia.  A quick Google search of their name and you can find dozens of paper's they've co-authored.

If he really had a successful academic career where are his published papers?

Of course he may not be doing a actual ponzi scheme.  He may just be a delusional idiot who will lose your money.

It seems a lot of the work he did was for a research lab or something (I have to look into it more), not available on Google Scholar. http://mulhauser.net/lib/research/

If you don't have academic papers published in journals, then you don't have an "Academic career".  Period.

Even if I concede your point on academia, I think my argument still stands, unless you want to have a crack at the rest of it. Oh, I see you now just think he may be an idiot. Well, you're entitled to your opinion on that.

Rest of what?  There's no evidence for any of this other then random websites I've never heard of, which he could have setup himself.

I'm not sure I want to wade into the crossfire here, but I feel obligated to point out that pirateat40 DID give up a lot in real life to pull off his scam. I believe he is now being hauled off to jail. Also, Bernie Madoff was very successful prior to his ill-fated ponzi scheme.

Interpret that however you like.

Yup. And like Madoff and Pirate he's probably thinking he'll actually make money with his "hedge fund" - and maybe he will. Or maybe he'll make a lot of money and keep most of it for himself. But the problem is this guy is a huckster, pretending to be some uber-smart "Professor Dr." when in reality he's just some ridiculous SEO faker (IMO - again, since I don't see an academic trail in places that they'd normally show up).

and my own conclusion is that the chance that he intends to run a ponzi is low.

Like I said, Neither pirate nor Madoff ever intended to run a ponzi scheme.  They just got sucked in once they started lying about their profits.

I did a very small amount of google-fu and ran across his book published in 1998 on amazon:

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0792351037/rzd6bv3v-20

So there's at least some of a trail and he is an extremely impressive "SEO faker" if he went out of his way to publish a large book in 1998 for the sake of SEO. Anyways, you either trust him or you don't. In truth, Ytterbium, you don't actually know whether he will lose money or not, you're ultimately just spreading FUD based on some poor investment decisions in the past and very little research. Don't invest if you dont want to, but dont act like you know for a fact anyone who invests will get "destroyed". Because you really don't.
76  Economy / Securities / Re: [HAVELOCK] Dealcoin Official Thread on: September 03, 2013, 02:10:15 PM
For a start-up bitcoin company that isn't a great best-case-scenario maximum return. Sad
Well you also have to factor in the potential appreciation of the stock
But why would the price appreciate much? Potential buyers will compare Dealcoin's return with those being returned by other securities.

I'm not sure why this 1% monthly maximum was set. Why couldn't dividends rise when profits do?

I wish Dealcoin the best of luck and hope it works out for them, but I don't see the risk/reward being worth it for an investor as the rules have been laid out.

Well a 12% annual return in dividends can be a lot or vey little, depending on which angle you a re looking at it from. For a mining stock, it is very poor as it is an extremely fast-moving and therefore often short-lived market. On the other hand, this can be seen as a long-time enterprise which doesn't depend at all on mining technologies, difficulty increases, etc.

Normally start-ups in the "real world" don't pay out any dividends at the beginning, focusing this way in growth rather than fast returns. It is now up to each investor to decide for himself if he/she prioritizes fast returns vs. long-term business.

P.S. I do agree that the door should be left open for possible future dividend increases in case the company has made enogh profits. However, this should be submitted to investor voting.

+1

The Bitcoin securities world is OBSESSED with dividends, it is really annoying. Good luck today!
77  Economy / Securities / Re: ActiveMining Overview and Speculation Thread on: August 30, 2013, 08:02:31 PM
Rumour has is that Cointerra/HashFast and KNC are better alternatives. But I really don't want to buy miner to do it solo and i'm also wary of the group buys. Is there an IPO at one of these 3? We all know that solo miners take the short end no matter how "advanced" their chips are, especially if you're not "first in the line".

What is the better alternative than ACTM?

This "rumor" you're referencing is advice from the trolls over in the other ActiveMining thread. I highly suggest you do your own research, do not trust the opinion of these people.
78  Economy / Securities / Re: Feeler investment - hire 20 lawyers from India to bring down BFL and AVALON on: August 30, 2013, 07:25:37 PM
Class action lawsuit wherein 90% of all settlement money goes to the lawyers? - genius!

Lawyers get anywhere from 10-30%, definitely nowhere near 90%. And it is obviously more about sending a message to these disgraceful quitters and liars than making a profit.

I'm trying to give you the benefit of the doubt, but I still can't find what you pasted.

Step by step instructions:

1. follow this link: http://kepler.sos.ca.gov/

2. Where it says "search type" click on the "corporation name" bubble

3. Where it says "Entity Name or Number" type in the word "Uniquify" in the search bar

4. Click Enter.

5. One result will appear. Click on where it says "UNIQUIFY, INC."

6. All the information will be displayed.

I don't appreciate attempts at stock manipulation whether it is a stock I have a vested interest in or not. I do not own any shares of this particular stock, but you are attempting to prey on innocent bitcoin investors by creating confusion and that is bullshit. So many intentionally erroneous claims occur in all of these bitcoin security threads it just makes us look like a bunch of troll assholes, when really we should be encouraging and growing the community. You suck.
