It's not illegal but it's not legal too. It's kind of a grey area. There's no law about this situation AFAIK.

i think it would be handled like its done with gold. im not sure you can correct me if im wrong but:

if you create your own currency backed by ANYTHING its illegal because its against the establishment of things like legal tender laws. the idea he has is basically the same as private banking with gold but they monopolized private issued money.

if that would be legal people would not be trading dollars Cheesy

71  Economy / Economics / Re: "Deflation" in Europe is actually Inflation in disguise on: May 07, 2015, 08:28:32 PM
INFLATION: INCREASE OF MONEY SUPPLY = RISING PRICES

DEFLATION: DECLINE OF MONEY SUPPLY = LOWER PRICES

73  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: ■■ Decentralized PirateBay? Torrent files on the blockchain? Possible? ■■ on: May 05, 2015, 06:47:56 PM
i think this idea will be implemented into some further development of decentralized p2p technology.

all of us have ideas for new p2p "coins" that could be a system on its own.

like p2p passports, voting or a MMO game where people farm monsters and the game generates a coin with your graphic card while you play and you can then build wallets also outside the game but the money can only be generated within the game.. there are endless possibilities with this

the funny thing is i think the reason why nobody jumps on the bandwagon or why its to hard to get new features build into the altcoins is because the BIG MONEY development is not in yet and doesn't want to because they cant see any profits for themselfs because it if fundamentally impossible to give a group of people special benefits within the framework of the coin, technically possible but the community would not use it because its against their/our beliefs

so the only profit they gain is.. buying/mining early .. which if like an investment into the technology itself and takes a while.
beliefs

i had this idea.. i think its compatible with your thoughts:

I say yes. I think that's what Bitcoin is all about and it's the reason we're all here...

agreed.

Sadly we are moving towards some kind of collectivist system which theyll probably end up calling communism or socialim again if they are stupid enough because they actually want it...

If you talk to stundents all over the planet... and people will vote themselfs into dependency once again because they think you can trust a dude with a stash or a beard  who looks promising to print up health care and schools.. but yeah

Socialism because, fuck it.. sounds good ..

Socialism can work if people are accountable and responsible.

the thing is.. if you would let laissez faire develop nobody would even want socialism.

i think socialism can only work if you abolish the idea of government intervention in the economy.. if you dont want the govt in the business of religion for preserving freedom of speech, you also have to want that in the sphere of money and in general economic transactions

without competition you cant have innovation and if you destroy that feature in so many industries civilization will die because our production couldnt adapt to todays standards... this of course happens slowly but gradually

but as austrian economics teaches us its just a non viable economic system that relies on killing competition for the good of the consumer.

but it really depends on what you mean by socialism

And some people say that there's no inflation...

Why are you mentioning inflation here? Inflation is talking about the price level of goods and services increasing - stock price increases because those Nasdaq companies are much bigger now.

And who says that there is no inflation?

Price level of goods and services increasing is not inflation. Its the result of the increase of the money supply, which should be considered inflation!

If you think about inflation this way you can understand the OP's statement.
