61  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S4 2TH/s, Batch 1 on Sale this week, shipping before Sept. Ends on: September 19, 2014, 12:46:17 PM
Wow, the timing of the S4 release could not have been worse for Bitmain and miners looking to buy a S4, and it's mainly just bad luck outside of their control. The price of BTC is down to $400, and we're also looking at another 15%+ difficulty increase in 6 days.

I expect the price of a S4 to be between 2.5 and 3 BTC ($1000 - $1200), which will make ROI in BTC very difficult...

but but.... they cant sell at loss... bro  ..... (like some idiots here say)

They even said...... Bitmain will only make enough inventory that they know its sold out.

Bitmain can always price higher, for some reason there are still people buying it..

Yes I had only good feedback with nicehash and also at time when I was mining it was the best paying pool.

Oh man, after the falling of BTC, it is not profitable anymore..

What if you get free electricity and pay nothing for it? There are some places where stealing power is no big deal. Like where I live.

Where do you live?

68  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Been away - what is with all these new algos? on: September 08, 2014, 11:48:33 AM
So, I've been gone for quite a while. Last I checked VertCoin and Scrypt-N were the new thing. I come back and I see 6 or 7 different algorithms?

What did I miss? How do these algos work? Is there one that is strictly for GPUs not that Scrypt itself has ASICs?

Is there any algo/coin that is "profitable" given existing GPU hardware? Or is it all cloud/ASIC?

Sadly for most GPU days are over.  Cost of electricity and heat removal just makes it impossible to compete against Asic.   They have shifted to x... or n , etc.  This is to be asic resistant.   But for most people even with those algos there is not enough profit and you are better off selling cards and buying BTC or getting a asic.

I am still keeping my gpu for now, almost impossible to sell right now...

Well, if you like to have small balls, then ok, drink it.
Just saying if you want to keep your current ball weight and volume, then stay away from that stuff.

I still don't get it, why redbull shrink balls..

80  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Bitmain Antminer S4 ! on: August 30, 2014, 06:09:35 AM
Bitmain as we have noticed is afraid the transport of bigger boxes from China.
They prefer small antminer boxes like s1-s3 when they have problems with S2.
Remember the horror pictures we saw early 2014 with the S2 miners
So making a big big miner boxes is a problem

What problem did they face transporting big box?
