61  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [XMV] MoneroV - Fork 1:10 of Monero - Finite coin supply - Private on: April 02, 2018, 03:42:23 PM
Will fractions of a Monero receive the airdrop as well? For example, will 0.5 XMR get 5 XMV, or an integer number of XMR is needed?

Yes this is something you can see answered on the FAQ and homepage- https://monerov.org/updates/

"How does the distribution of XMV work?

Holders of Monero at the snapshot block will be owners of the new MoneroV coin and will receive 10 times the Monero amount as MoneroV coins (XMV). For example, if you hold 1 Monero coin (XMR) prior to the fork, you will own 10 MoneroV after the fork. The same is true for partial Monero amount. Holding 0.5 XMR will grant you 5 XMV."

HitBTC claiming they'll support a fork means there is about 50% chance they'll really support. (From my own experience of not receiving the HitBTC-supported forks of Ignis, LBTC, & B2X)

good luck to us with hitbtc!

I am not as thrilled specifically about any exchange as I am keeping all coins locally.
This just means that MoneroV will be distributed to many people which is a great start for any successful fork event!

like many forks, I wonder what its use is.
apart from gaining a few coins without doing anything, I really don't see what it brings more than monero.
Well, I may be wrong, but I'm skeptical.

There's lots of reasons to the fork as one might see from actually reading the roadmap paper?

HitBTC is supporting the fork - https://twitter.com/monero_v/status/978727110306037760. Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy
65  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: EXMO.com Cryptocurrency Exchange [Official Thread] on: March 26, 2018, 09:37:57 AM
Lot's of people are tired hearing from your support about 'waiting for announcements'...

Are we getting the fork coins of the new Monero V?  Huh

Having a large amount of Monero (is it top15 in nvolume?), will Exmo keep the XMV fork coins or give it to us?

There is much time to prepare as it is postponed to end of April - https://monerov.org/announcement-monerov-fork-date-postponed/
Other exchanges already state they will give the new coins (Ovis, BTC-alpha) and the team says other are soon to be announced.

When can we expect this to happen? When is the coin going to be listed for trading?

If any of the popular exchanges or online wallet supports the fork than it would be easier and safer to place all my monero and claim the forked coin. But if supported is not announced than I'm out of this.

They have already released news about 2 exchanges suppourting - Ovis & BTC-alpha. https://twitter.com/monero_v
It's not hitbtc yet, but a good start. These exchanges have HUGE Monero volume (TOP 20).

There is also support from Freewallet.

It's actually safer to claim and hold locally. You cannot 'loose' anything to anyone if you practice safe forking like written on the official MoneroV website -

"How can I safely participate in the fork?

1. Hold XMR locally as you would at the time of the snapshot.
2. Wait for the official open-source MoneroV wallet announcement.
3. Download the MoneroV wallet ONLY from the official website or Github repo.
4. Extract XMV using the official wallet anytime in the future.

NOTE: You can extract the XMV from an empty/altered wallet that had XMR at the time of the snapshot. Meaning you can send your XMR to another wallet prior to extracting XMV."

Is this official and was announced via MoneroV team?
Do you even support CryptoNote mining as of now?

No, I'm sorry to inform you that you are wrong.

They said numerous time it is going to be only 100% open-source, and everybody knows this.

That's good, I'll stop talking about that then.

There is NO risk to privacy as debunked by the team, again, numerous times.

Stop with the nonsense

I'm sure "the team" are super trustworthy. I'd rather listen to Monero's developers on the matter, spending your coins on both forks harms both your privacy and the privacy of others.

The only reason for this fork to exist is selfishness and greed. It brings nothing new to Monero, their plans are to move the decimal point and mine a load of coins for themselves? That sounds revolutionary...  Roll Eyes

Sure, like any other big fork events had support from the original team.
Yeah, dismiss all the work put into it (seen the buildbot / git?) including the change of unlimited supply.

Maybe you need a reminder to why a team should be private instead of having a leader to a PRIVACY coin -
https://www.reddit.com/r/Monero/comments/6d5yt5/what_fluffypony_just_did_is_not_ok/

Oh yeah, do'nt forget to believe everything the Monero team says. They are the ones that did not forsee such a 'simple' fork could 'ruin' the privacy of Monero - LOL!

Even if the wallet just doesn't straight up steal your coins (who knows? the source hasn't been published yet), there's still a risk to privacy. I think you need to read the article yourself.

Is there any clarity on these spam accusations that have been filed?

What are you talking about?

I have read other user's commenting that this fork is just to steal your private keys and your monero
Also saw in open spaces of the Internet much that many warn against forks. Probably it is the truth that can lead to loss at first of keys, and then and coins. As all of us already know, there are such already examples. It of course is very sad

You have just believing the FUD from vicious ppl. Just wait to see the opensource wallet like the team is saying.

Still nobody answered my question - even tried emailing the devs twice. It's not a good sign when there is no response from devs for basic quesitons

"What wallet do I need to use to get MoneroV? I couldn't find any info on it. I have monero wallet from freewallet. I don't want to fiddle with private keys if possible.

Also for how long do I need to hold Monero to get MoneroV when the block happens? For seconds, hours, days or... ?"

You are making this harder then it is. Why not just join the telegram and ask the team? - https://t.me/monerovxmv
This is also written in all their announcements and faq pages like - https://monerov.org/updates/

You just need to hold on any full access wallet at the time of that block.

Man you need to be dumb to listen to such accusations. Can you read a sentence or two on MoneroV's website?

Minergate has declared support to MoneroV in their official twitter:

https://twitter.com/MinerGate/status/973186527286185984

But the twitter doesn't mention clear about the XMRV airdrop or about the current XMR balance.

Personally I will be following the advice of the project and moving all monero to a wallet I have the keys to.

This is sound advice. Minergate are vague, to say the least.
Everybody is waiting for exchanges when I will only keep the wallet locally in any fork, and regardless of the airdrop.

It clearly says anyone who holds Monero prior to the fork and not "held" Monero prior to the fork. Not sure why you would want somebody to change that. Isn't it very clear what you need to do to get MoneroV?

It is obvious he's joking/trolling.
Great new about the project being supported by Ovis exchange
77  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Monero Hard Fork: New MoneroV Will Enter the Cryptocurrency Market on: March 10, 2018, 05:43:46 PM
There doesn't seem to be any logical reason to fork Monero right now, this is likely to be a pump and dump by the founders.

Never support forked coins, they are the plague of the cryptosphere (usually, but not always).

You definitely do not know what you are talking about.
Nothing to improve with monero? What about it being bloated, manipulated by fluffy pony, and infinite?
78  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Fork MoneroV on: March 10, 2018, 05:40:11 PM
Bittrex even failed to know that the fork was delayd -
https://monerov.org/announcement-monerov-fork-date-postponed/

They are getting to be a lousy exchange. I think they will support the fork in the end

Monero die-hard fans spreading fud basically. Nothing too different from bitcoin cash fork in terms of security/privacy.
