61  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / This is Why we need Privacy Coin's on: January 15, 2018, 10:27:27 AM
Today an article appeared in one of Australia's national newspapers, the Financial Review - Title " Push for Secret Search Warrant Panned" - The article went on to discuss the use of Secret Search Warrant's and how they would allow law enforcement to search a persons premises and seize evidence without the need to tell the owner or occupier for months, years or if at all, so as to avoid tipping them off to the fact they under investigation.

Currently it is only meant to be used for terrorism investigations, but this change would allow them to carryout investigations for any potential crime that carried a sentence of 7 years or more.

My concern is who polices the term "potential crime" and how far will they stretch the guide lines to spy on anyone?

So as an individual are my rights to privacy being taken away from me, if laws such as these are passed?

Having an anonymous cryptocurrency to send and receive private transactions, now makes a lot more sense.

I feel this will just be the beginning of laws like this being passed. So it is important that we protect our anonymity with coins like DeepOnion, PIVX & Monero etc.

I would welcome other members thoughts.

I understand that they are ahead of there release date for the mainet. Good team on board and lots of activity on Github. I joined Huobi just to purchase this coin. I do believe that the market cap will rise substantially  this year.
63  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] HUSH Secure Private Messaging and Transactions [Equihash] on: January 13, 2018, 01:00:15 PM
Hello everyone,

Does anyone have an Idea how long it takes for cryptopia to send the coins to my hush wallet, has been about 18 hours right now and it still shows processing on there side?

Thanks in Advance

Hello, sometimes it's sent by them but still gets a mark of "processing", and usually it only takes 10 minutes for my hush withdrawals to get processed from Cryptopia.

Kindly check out your address balance here, it might have been processed already but not marked paid by Cryptopia:

https://explorer.myhush.org

When I check the wallet address it does not show anything just says confirmed and 0 transactions.  Should I just wait it out? It was only 2.5 coins could that be the reason?

I am having same problem with cryptopia now. Seemingly too many withdrawals are occuring now that could be reason for delay.

I moved Hush from Cryptopia to my wallet yesterday, confirmation email took a few minutes but transaction was processed within 5 mins and showed up in my wallet a few mins later.

65  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Banned! on: January 11, 2018, 11:23:00 PM
Lots of Governments around the world are looking for was to collect there taxes from the buying and selling of crypto currencies, USA has pushed forward, Australia is setting up task forces to track the sales. The market cap is growing a rapid rate, which mean the tax revenue will also increase in line with it as it is a percentage . Governments will not ban it but look to get a slice of the pie through taxing it. They are not going to pass up that opportunity...
66  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is creating money out of thin air on: January 11, 2018, 07:30:59 AM
This is no different to a bank and it fractional reserves, they create money from nothing every day. Reserve banks around the world create money from thin air, they just use debt to do it, by issuing bonds. The reality is that without debt there would be no fiat money. Bitcoin is the new evolution that creates a store of value not attached to debt . I know which l would rather have !!
67  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: 🚀 |ANN| MYSTERIUM NETWORK - Decentralized VPN built on blockchain |MYST| on: January 11, 2018, 06:53:13 AM
It's a shame l bought this just after the ICO, as l thought it had great potential but nothing happened and the price kept droping so in the end l had to sell. With new protocls like SUB coming out l wonder if the idea of the decentralized VPN will be such a big deal!
68  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [BTCP] BitcoinPrivate: A Truly Private Bitcoin [Equihash] on: January 11, 2018, 06:25:46 AM
This seems similar to what HUSH are doing, is anyone able to explain to me what the difference between BTCP and BTCH will be? They both appear to be combining properties of the  Bitcoin Block chain and ZCash to form new coins.
69  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Looking for examples on how you diversified your portfolio on: January 10, 2018, 11:01:29 PM
Initially thought the best options was to spread my risk and as such was up to 45 coins. Sounds like a good idea , but it is a lot of work keeping tabs on that many coins. I then realised that 80% of may gains came from 20% of my coins, so l culled nearly half of them, which l find is a lot more manageable.

I do have some regrets about doing that though as some of those coins l sold have now had massive runs up.

Some of the coins were through ICO's but the majority were purchased over a extended period of time through the exchanges.
70  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What's happening to XRP and TRX now? on: January 10, 2018, 09:43:53 AM
I wouldn't panic, it is just part of the cycles that occur in crypto's. I am not a fan of ripple as it is not truly decentralized and and the bulk of the coins are still owned by the developers, l think nearly 70%. That puts way to much control in there hands. Tron l do own and bought more today. The longer you are involved in the crypto coins the more you realise it's two steps forward and one back. Look at the long term and only invest what you can afford to loose and you will be able to sleep better at night!!
71  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Securing your Cryptos on: January 10, 2018, 07:03:43 AM
A problem we all wish we had.... Firstly never keep it on the exchange. I can speak from experience, i had 100 ETH on the Gatecoin exchange when it got hacked , lost the lot.

Definitely want to make sure you have a number cold of storage wallet such as Nano Ledger and trezor. Split you coins across them and then store them in multiple safe deposit boxes .

Encrypt your seed phrases in parts and then lock them in multiple encryption vaults. This way no one vault contains the full phrase. Store them in multiple locations.

I think it would be a Lot of work to get to them if you need it in a hurry!!!

72  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Etherium to reach bitcoin on: January 10, 2018, 04:06:28 AM
Possibly Another flippening!!! I do like ETH , but l think there are so many new projects coming to market that it will start to take some of there market share. This  will have to effect the price growth. Coins like EOS , Dragon, Icon. But l am happy to see the price in growth phase, but won't reach Bitcoin.
73  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: bitcoin transaction fees are abnormal on: January 10, 2018, 12:08:55 AM
Sent a payment of 0.26 cents a couple of days ago cost me more than $12.00 in fee's. People think that lightening network will be the answer to our prayers,  it appears that we are being directed to that as the only solution to the current fee structure. This won't work unless each of your neighbors has at least the same value of BTC in there wallet, as you want to send. This is going to mean that hubs will have to be created with vast sums of btc in them, to make it work, looks like we are coming full circle again and back to those people that control the banking industry!!!!
74  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Cappuccino for bitcoins - how much should I charge? on: January 09, 2018, 11:35:15 PM
Bitcoin is not designed for micro payments under the current structure. $2 for the coffee and $12 in fee's, you won't sell much coffee. You also have to understand that BTC is an appreciating asset and the consensuses is that it will continue to do that, so holders of bitcoin are going to be reluctant to trade future growth for a cup of coffee, a car  or even a house!!!
75  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Bitcoin ever be Mainstream? on: January 09, 2018, 10:29:41 AM
Don't think you will ever be able to use it mainstream until they sort out the processesing speed and high transaction fees. 2 to 3 transactions per second is not commercially viable for the mainstream businesses to ever use it. Can you imagine filling up the petrol tank and then sitting there for an hour ( if your lucky) while the payment is confirmed! Yesterday l had to send a 26 cents payment, that l could only pay in BTC, cost me $12.00 in transaction fee's. Not going to cut it commercially.
76  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What's your biggest regret about bitcoin on: January 09, 2018, 10:02:50 AM
Looked at implementing it on to my website as a payment method when it was at $7.00. Was so excited about it that l looked into setting up an exchange, but like most things in life, had a great idea but failed to act on it, the rest is history...Should of Would of Could of!!!!
77  Economy / Speculation / Re: bitcoin price prediction on: January 09, 2018, 09:52:43 AM
It has had it latest 35 to 40% retracement and looks to have found a bottom at the $11000 level. If the last range was to repeat off that bottom  19850 - 5428 = 14422 we could be looking around the $25000 mark. That run up took 34 days!!!
78  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: McAfee Coin of the Week!!!! on: January 09, 2018, 07:08:04 AM
He definitely has an effect on the price of the coins....I was watching the market when his twitter feed got hacked, every time they mentioned a coin it spiked and once all his twitter followers realized he had been hacked the prices all took a pretty hefty dive. Probably best to do your own research and play the long game HODL....
79  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Hard to sign-up on exchanges on: January 09, 2018, 06:00:56 AM
There are exchanges that are accepting new clients such as Kucoin and Cryptopia, both have a good selection of coins and pairs. The sign up process was relatively easy. I would be careful with HitBTC, easy to join but very difficult with deposits and withdrawls.
80  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Top 5 picks for January? on: January 08, 2018, 02:07:48 PM
So many coins that could be in the top 5. But based on The big issues everyone are talking about, scaling, fee's & privacy, l couldn't go past
EOS, MIOATA, SUB, PIVX & ONION . At the moment only one in top 10 on market cap. It's a shame to leave out Bcash, Nem and stellar.
