Dev, are you going to give any clues as to why you made this coin or is it going to remain a mystery?
ya mean like a "Mystery Cache" coin type mystery? UmHum... -M
62  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Alpha Technology Litecoin (Scrypt) ASIC Miner Order Batch 1 Now! on: August 06, 2014, 06:42:31 PM
i have been offerd a 30% refund after asking for a full refund under the distance selling regulations.....

Cheeky !

i do not accept a 70% loss on 5450 GBP. i did not fall out of a tree and hit my head this morning

lol, add VAT or customs charges at a height of VAT Wink
Still ya want to get this worthless piece of shit?  Cool

Im a bit confused,  if they still somehow manage to deliver if  I should accept or reject the delivery.  In Sweden VAT would be around 20% of the the £5450..... Have been asking for refund with no success..  Seems they gone underground after Fiat left...
These guys are RUNNING! If we don't somehow find them, they are gonna be gone! I get more pissed off by the hour! Ohmmmm......... Ohmmmmmm........ -M

If AT still has not refunded the 60% you should try to get it back.

I have not been in this thread since I posted pissed off comment in January about them stealing 40% of my refund plus fee. Seeing all the crap here now Im really glad I got my refund before it was too late :-)
Haven't been that lucky with Black Arrow and Hashfast though

God I wish my roommate and I wouldn't have paid for our unit entirely with bitcoin!  Now all I can do is sit back and hope some sort of class action comes out of all this that I can join since I'm broke.  I was warned this pre-order business stuff was risky but I have to admit I wasn't even considering the possibility of not even receiving a unit.  Guess I've learned this lesson the hard way!

You can always send bunch of Eastern European buddies or debt collectors to sort them out :-)
It has worked before. Were you at btc-arbs? That's all I'll say about that. -M
64  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Alpha Technology Litecoin (Scrypt) ASIC Miner Order Batch 1 Now! on: August 06, 2014, 01:50:53 PM
It's bad enough to worry about scam coins but now scam miner manufactures? Hope you guys get your money back.
I don't think that anyone that doesn't have a credit card company or bank to wrench back their payment is going to get their money back.
These people are vermin. They are fearlessly laughing in the face of the law.
It is so obvious that this has been nothing more than a conspiracy to defraud. There is no equipment, never was a 5/25 or a 18/90, and never going to be a 50/250. Lies, all lies to separate us from our cash. They know that by the time the law acts they will be bankrupt, funds spent, and long gone. What a bunch of crap! -M

I got it! Unbelievable! If you even ask for a refund, the get to keep your down payment and resell your computer to someone else? To see it advertised like that  - I'm without words! -M
66  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Alpha Technology Litecoin (Scrypt) ASIC Miner Order Batch 1 Now! on: August 06, 2014, 12:49:10 PM
Willow, that's a joke right? I don't actually see that anywhere....

It's in the image in my post.. you can't miss it. Look at the image, about 3/4 of the way down. The really wide sentence which goes to the edge of the screenshot.
I've been looking around for that ad - can't find it posted in their TOP. Can you post the link? Thank you -M

Hey all, I have built a web page  -  more like a personal blog to help me follow the timeline of Alpha announcements since December. There is a capture of the Alpha homepage from 01-05-2014 including Terms of Purchase, faq, about, and the 25 mh Viper. Also I have all of the announcements and emails I received as links listed according to date.
Thanks to retro72 - I copied his post of links to offices of authority in the UK. It may help stop them and get our refunds but I think the money is already gone.
As I looked at the timeline of announcements from Alpha it is very clear that they conspired to take our money. On May 21, they announced that everything was on schedule and asked us to pay. On may 27 they announced a huge - really unbelievable upgrade for free - and then invoices with a request to pay. I believe the upgrades were never even a consideration and was a ploy to get you to pay the invoice.
I'm happy to share my data and links with anyone that wants. If anyone has anything in the timeline I'm missing I will post it. My email is at the bottom of the page.

Just click on the Alpha Link there.

I, as a paying customer, was banned yet again.  So much for ethics and transparency.  I guess I shouldn't point out they were not transparent nor ethical, when they clearly knew at the point in time when they were collecting the 70% final payment there was 0 chance of a July delivery.
Well, that didn't take long. -M
71  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Alpha Technology Litecoin (Scrypt) ASIC Miner Order Batch 1 Now! on: July 31, 2014, 02:27:24 PM
I just posted this on the Alpha Forum... But I don't think it will last there long, so I am posting it here...

Alpha, you ask us to trust you, yet every time I turn around, something negative shows up.  I'm speaking of the customers INVOICE.   I ask EVERYONE to look at your INVOICE.  Alpha lists everyone's DEPOSIT,  NOT as a deposit ,  but as an  " ORDER DISCOUNT".
When it comes TAX time,  just try listing an " ORDER DISCOUNT" as an expense.  I's sure that Alpha has some screwed up reason  for  listing  a " DEPOSIT " as an "ORDER DISCOUNT" ,  but I don't believe it is in the best interest of the customer. ( Maybe it's because you can't REFUND a DISOUNT.)
If you are going to take my money... At least let me be able to deduct it from my Taxes . Call a DEPOSIT, a DEPOSIT.
These people are lying sacks of - They tell lies to distract us while the whole time they are planning to steal from us. That is what defines a scam. They knew that they were not going to meet any of the shipping deadlines and they didn't just find out about it either, they knew! These sneaky pirates absolutely knew they weren't going to ship or even close to having a product, yet they requested the final payment right away giving the impression that we were ready to rock and roll! When people were hesitant because things were not adding up, Alpha put the pressure lies to work - "Those that don't pay in the 2 week period will lose everything". Anyone on the forum saying "wait a minute here" were banned. It was the credit card companies that saved us (thank Searing and others for that). When the credit card companies slammed on the breaks the lies started coming out of the woodwork. Alpha banned me from their site for asking legit customer questions. Banning was their way to keep the lies from being questioned. That was a very well written and carefully worded "manifesto" Alpha just emailed but I'm not going to fall for the old banana in the tailpipe trick again. I will never visit their forum again. They are going to have to send me official email that I can hold them to. I don't care what they have to say on their forum, they talk out of both sides of their mouth and writing as several different users. That's what sneaks do. The first thing a liar does is try to convince you he's not lying. And the goal of a thief.... well Alpha, I will not turn my back on you again.

Alpha has re-worded their documents carefully. When it suits them they change words. They see some benefit to themselves by wording the down payment that way on their site.
Can you write the 30% loss off as a hobbyist or would you have to own a business to get the write off? I'm just a hobbyist. I paid 30% by bank wire - £ 2040. I have requested a refund but got the same standard reply as everyone else. -M

A New Direction For Alpha Technology

« on: Today at 02:03:11 PM »
Greetings Everyone,

I will try to keep this as short as possible as the full announcement is coming later on. Like you all we are not satisfied with the delay. In light of recent events there is a lot of hostility where we are wasting time defending ourselves and vice-versa for you. This is not helpful to anybody and will ultimately cost us all as such we have the perfect solution where everybody wins. This announcement will be unprecedented in the cryptocurrency industry and will be a game changer for our customers. We have 2 roads here as a company where we can leave things as they are with unhappy customers ensuring there is no future for us outside of batch 1 or we can fully commit to our original commitment of transparency and an ethical open approach. In light of this news we have decided to un-ban everybody who was ever banned and apologize if you felt it was unjust, we can now put all of this negativity behind us and move forward together as it should be. Sorry if this post doesn't make much sense at the moment but it will do soon, I will also edit it and add more later today I just wanted to say something asap. The announcement should be today, if it isn't please don't freak out it will be soon, it will also be announce in news articles and it will be great news for you guys that everyone, alpha-t customer or not, will want to be a part of.

edit: Anyone who has been previously banned from this forum is now un banned. Can I also kindly ask everybody post here for the moment regarding this so we can discuss this together. Also just a reminder, this forum is not for payments questions, orders, refunds etc. such questions will be of course be deleted.
« Last Edit: Today at 03:00:56 PM by Fiaz Malik »

Later on in the thread Fiaz says he's asked the 'Doctor' to move all the old posts to new section called 'Old'
However, at the moment they're nowhere to be found. [ edit: Fiat says they have been moved to the archive. https://forum.alpha-t.net/index.php?board=40.0 Login required.

So … here one day … gone the next. Is that the plan for Alpha-T too ? Tune in again (soon) to the Alpha-T channel for more (not never) news.

Speculation …

a) winding down the company, starting a new one … giving customers shares in a new company and soliciting new funds ?

b) announcing new shareholder, new capital injection, increase the Viper to 500 mhs ?

Only time (soon) will tell.

It doesn't matter what they say now. After all that has happened how can you trust anything that they say? -M

Fwiw, there are a LOT of Alpha Technology related names when searching Companies House, and a LOT of them are dissolved. I couldn't find one for an Alpha Technologies at 66 Dickenson Road, Manchester. Perhaps somebody else can ? Does anyone have a Company Number for Alpha-T, perhaps on order documentation ?  Or a VAT registration number ?

From the Alpha-T home page:

Quote
Alpha Technology has, during the development of its products, always taken a fair and ethical approach to the pre-ordering process by not taking 100% of the payment, but only 30%. Next to that, we gave our backers complete transparency and frequent development updates. By doing so, our valued customers have always been able to see what we were doing and how our product development was progressing. Early adopters enjoy the benefits of priority shipping in upcoming batches/new product lines. Whilst we continue our transparency and open development, the pre-ordering phase has stopped and for new orders we will only sell available hardware at 100% of its price.

There will be an official address of record for Alpha-T at Companies House in London. This may or may not be the Dickenson Road address.

Registered mail must be sent to the official address on record at Companies House.

It proves that you posted it at least. My best guess is that those shutters are firmly closed, meaning no one is there  to accept / sign for receipt of it !! So it may never be read by those it was intended for.

Keep the proof of posting you'll need this as proof.

Thanks, yes. I guess my question is - re in the states I go to the local PO and send Cert mail with Sig required. Is that the same process for International mail?
Also I am wondering if This address Alpha Technology, 66 Dickenson Road, Manchester M14 5HF England UK is still a real place and should it be sent to a specific person at Alpha?
My next wonder about them is what if they won't sign for the letter? -M
78  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Alpha Technology Litecoin (Scrypt) ASIC Miner Order Batch 1 Now! on: July 23, 2014, 12:44:46 PM
I have received a letter back from the UK Citizens Advice Bureau, it reads as follows.....

Dear *********,

Thank you for your e mail about case reference number CS *********

Thanks for updating us about your case.

Your rights and obligations
When you enter into a contract with a trader by means of a distance communication (telephone, internet, mail order etc.) you will often have cancellation rights under what is known as the Distance Selling Regulations. These state you are entitled to a written notice confirming the details of your order and the fact you have cancellation rights. If you have been given the notice at the time you place the order, your cancellation rights run from the time of order until  7 working days starting from the day after  you receive the goods. If you have not been provided with this written information, your cancellation rights are extended for up to 3 months and 7 working days. To cancel you must inform the trader of your intention, either by letter, email or fax - where you may ask for a full refund (including any delivery charges). The trader must provide this refund within thirty days. To be effective, your cancellation notice must be sent before the end of the cancellation period described above.

You will be able to withdraw from the order at any time for any reason for a refund as long as the goods are not customised in any way making them bespoke.

Criminal offence
If the trader is not allowing you to cancel as per this legislation then this could amount to a criminal offence.

Your next steps
At this stage it might be best to simply discuss the matter with the trader. However, if you are unable to reach an agreeable solution you could take a more formal approach and write. Your letter should outline all relevant events and make it clear both what action you expect from the trader, and why. It should also give the trader a reasonable time in which to respond to your claim(s), e.g. fourteen days.

In addition, sending your letter by “recorded delivery” will provide you with proof of posting; a signature on delivery and online confirmation of delivery.
The reason we suggest this, is just in case you and the trader fail to reach an amicable resolution.  Having a record of your correspondence, and confirmation of delivery, could help demonstrate how and when you attempted to resolve the dispute yourself, should you need to escalate your complaint. Furthermore, the trader would find it difficult to maintain that you have never actually raised a complaint with them if they have signed for your letter. This may be helpful if you consider Court action or some form of formal / managed dispute resolution in the future.

Alternatively, you may consider obtaining a Certificate of Posting - from the Post Office - when you post your letter. Although this does not prove delivery, it can help to show that you sent a letter, on a particular day, to a particular address.

What we’ll do
Due to the business practices described, we will be forwarding the information to Trading Standards for further consideration.  The case details will also be placed on a central database that can be accessed by all other Local Authority Trading Standards Services throughout the UK.

Although we work closely with Trading Standards departments, we are a separate organisation. Individual complaints do not necessarily lead to immediate enforcement action as, sometimes, numerous complaints are needed before effective action can take place.  The information is, however, valuable intelligence for Trading Standards Services and other Government departments. Trading Standards will only contact you if they need further information or feel they could be of further assistance. We cannot make any commitment that Trading Standards will definitely contact you.

If you want to discuss this further please call us on 03454 04 05 06 or reply to this e mail

Kind regards
********

Things are moving forward I hope.
MB - What is the official address you are sending the "recorded Delivery" to at Alpha? I sent my Letter requesting refund by email and got the same response everyone else got "we're sorry bla bla bla. Is "recorded delivery" the same as certified mail here?
79  Economy / Investor-based games / Re: btc-arbs.com - Update: dead HYIP, Refund progress 07/07/2014 on: July 18, 2014, 01:59:18 AM

Nobody is real sure what his methodology is for paying people back. I'm assuming he's attempting to go through the list and pay each person some, then cycle back through the list again and rinse, repeat. It's been over two weeks since I saw a payment, in fact this has been the longest time period between payments I've seen yet. It's also subject to availability of funds to pay people with and we don't really know what that looks like either.

So we wait.

If he is using Arbitrage, as he stated before, to generate new revenue then that will explain the slow going in refunds.
The price has not fluctuated that much in the past three weeks so the arbitrage is going to be small as well..............

Just my thoughts.............  Lips sealed

-Mark-
He is arbing. I don't think there is any Ponzi. I say let him arb. He's actually good at it. Some days better than others but on the whole he's working it. That's what I see anyway. -M

Anyone planning on starting an AT lawsuit thread?  There seems to be interest and a number of people have already started legal action individually. Better to group together as a class action.

for what exactly?

you entered into an agreement with them
They changed the agreement. They radically changed the equipment footprint and in particular power requirements. They didn't ask get us to sign off on those changes, they didn't give any choices. The entire agreement that we signed (Feb.2014) has been modified from the one there now (7/14). They have made many "wording changes" (lawyers love that crap) to take themselves off the hook AFTER the fact. Every contract I've EVER been involved with (and I've been in the communications business for over 40 years) requires a sign off of the client when changes are made. Changing a contract without client approval and sigh off make the contract invalid) I no longer have the power (electrical breakers) to run the darn things without extension cable running all over the house or having the house wiring to a larger gage (code). That would cost half as much as the miners. I would have never purchased anything I couldn't run or would cost so much more money to accommodate. Their changes have put me in a box I can't get out of without just walking away from my 30% - about 4k. Under the circumstances they should refund anyone that wants out because of these changes. -M

Where can i find dat new agreement? (7/14)
It's the current agreement - https://alpha-t.net/terms-order/
