61  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Worried about Merits? I'm here to help. on: March 01, 2018, 06:51:58 AM
Here and there, each and every newbie is worried about the new term "Merits" when it comes to ranking up.
Let me first elaborate it for you that what are merits?

A quote from a thread by theymos over Merits:

In addition to activity, everyone now has a merit score, and you need both a certain activity level and a certain merit score in order to reach higher member ranks. The required scores are:

RankRequired activityRequired merit
Brand new00
Newbie10
Jr Member300
Member6010
Full Member120100
Sr. Member240250
Hero Member480500
LegendaryRandom in the range 775-10301000

You get merit points when someone sends you some for one of your posts. Additionally, when someone sends you merit points, half of those points can be sent by you to other people.

Certain users are designated as "merit sources". They can create new merit out of nothing, up to a limited number per month (which differs per source). I will not be posting a definitive list of merit sources (so that people don't bug them too much), though you'll soon figure out who they are if you pay attention.

Ok, I understood about Merits. But hey, why do we need it?

I'm hoping that this system will increase post quality by:
- Forcing people to post high-quality stuff in order to rank up. If you just post garbage, you will never get even 1 merit point, and you will therefore never be able to put links in your signature, etc.
 - Highlighting good posts with the "Merited by" line.

Oh! That's good. It's in the interest of forum to keep it free from spammers. But who will give us Merits?

Everyone including me are given few sMerits to be able to help each other (considering that the help is actually being provided to those who will try to help the forum by contributing with the best quality posts which really deserve an appreciation in the form of Merits). There are Merit sources too who will be giving sMerits to users whom they think - are delivering quality over quantity. But, as they are too given limited Merits to be served, I believe people like us should also come ahead and help.

Just like TMAN, I am here to share my sMerits with those who literally deserve them as hoarding them with myself won't be benefic both to me and the forum users, as well as a possible injustice to them.

So, my rules are clear:
  • Make 30 constructive (high-quality) posts in a 2 week period
  • Quote 10 best posts out of those 30 posts (however, I will be watching out for all 30, I want to see that how much knowledge do you possess of your own quality)
  • No spamming in any case

I will choose 10 persons who will be entitled with 5 sMerits each and to make it useful for the ones who really need it, I am making this thing limited for up to Jr Member levels only. This means that those who possess Member and above ranks will not be able to be a part of this (will include them later if this one proves to be a successful beginning of an era of high-quality posts).

Good luck, folks!

Thanks for the information but I'm  concern by the way it is been done, because posting quality post is not enough to guaranty been merited. I think the best way to do this is to automatically determine a post that can be merited.

It's annoyingreading same stories here and there but I don't know if this can be done automatically

I think merit should be calculated the same way activities are being calculated. Anyway, thank you for the information
64  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Will there be a "next Ethereum"? on: February 28, 2018, 07:59:40 PM
NEO, Waves and others are genuine project tend to compete with ethereum. But who knows what will happen to them on a larger scale.

Presently, I think NEO highly hyped but I will go with the underdog Waves to surprise the crypto community.

Investment in ethereum is very save, the dev cannotrunaway and this is one of the criteria one need to consider when making any investment in crypto nowadays because, lot of scammers are behind some project right now. Ethereum has pass the integrity test so investors are much more interested.
$10K will be amazing if reached but may be it will need more time

NANO is a very unique project, the developmental team are professional, hardworking, focus and always look to improve and impress. I think NANO team is  giving us another option in the cryptocurrency ecosystem.

Ethereum all the way,  NEO is never  bad project but if I have only one option to choose between the two.  I will definitely go with Ethereum for safety sake.

I believe ethereum may not be faster going up but it will be stead

The concept is  inviting and the whole project looking good and real but it is always easier said than done. I have no doubt about the ability of this team, and I think it will be a success

71  Economy / Speculation / Re: 5 reasons why virtual currencies falling down.. on: February 02, 2018, 05:29:57 PM
All is FUD and tactics by various government to pull bitcoin down but this is not the first time we're having BTC falling and it will be back on top. They are only creating more opportunity for the strong hands to buy more and more
72  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I'm taking a break on: February 02, 2018, 05:21:28 PM
Our hands need to be strong at the moment, as for me nothing will tempt me to sell but I have decided to close my portfolio till further notice.
73  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Lesson - History of Bitcoin crashes on: February 02, 2018, 04:17:24 PM
I think nobody need to be persuaded again about the bouncing back of bitcoin at anytime and if anybody allow FUD manufacturers to tempt them to sell at loss you will blame yourself very soon. NO SHAKING

74  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Who or What is behind this Crash??? on: February 02, 2018, 04:00:14 PM
Nothing behind it than unpalatable news here and there. All is FUD and bitcoinwill be back on when the manipulators buy a lot on the down then FOMO will start from every angle
75  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why media against bitcoin ? on: February 02, 2018, 03:51:38 PM
I think media is winning but bitcoin will be victorious at end. No shaking, let them say
76  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: 2 Ethereum or 15 NEO for long term on: February 02, 2018, 03:47:43 PM
At the moment ethereum is gaining more popularity as bitcoin continue going down ethereum showing a lot of support between $1100 - $900. Cant say same with NEO. Ethereum will rule
77  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: ETHEREUM WILL WORTH $10000 on: February 02, 2018, 03:34:01 PM
Ethereum to $10k, i will like to be more positive on this speculation than ever.
Once Ethereum has taken the #1 spot on Coinmarketcap we will experience a lot of news coverage about the new technology. Kinda a crypto gold rush 2.0 taking place in 2018!
Many new investors will be pouring in, all curious about the advantages of smart contracts and advanced blockchain technology

This can happen now because bitcoin is crashing.
I think the world power don't want to see bitcoinat the top because all the bad news coming to crypto world is been targeted at bitcoin. I hope bitcoin bounce back asap
78  Other / Off-topic / Re: What age to teach kids about crypto? on: February 02, 2018, 03:21:19 PM
I think it's not a matter of age but the intelligent quotient of the child will determine if or not ready his or her readiness. Otherwise, effort will wasted
79  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: ✅🚀[ANN] [ICO] KEPLER - Next Generation Blockchain Platform For AI & Robotics🚀 on: February 01, 2018, 01:41:42 PM
