Thanks for the feedback, i will do an update video on the changes since the first video, Dev has said the sapling update will bring about lots of changes like potential Mobile wallet in the mid term, shielded addresses in the short term plus auto refunds, poll explorer spruce up and poll reviews. Many people are poised to do sports betting or any kind of betting once private betting is implemented.

Also its kinda of a false equivalence to suggest vot isnt succesful, look the wider market, you could argue most coins arent doing well, but VOT is a survivor and dev has been updating wallet and been commiting on github this whole time, that to me is a mark of success the ones who grind through the tough times.

Once the roadmap changes are implimented ill do an updated video, im in this for atleast 3 years so i wont judge until then but if you were in the short term profit game vot has been to 600sats and then another spike so hopefully you capitalized then!

This is a community coin, the ICO stated all ICO funds will go directly to wallet functionality and vision, Yes tom is a very technical dev, he hired graphic design devs for the gui wallet to look the way it does, he has said marketing and paying for listings wont come before private txs, shielded addresses, private betting, auto refunds, poll reviews and poll explorer spruce up, then after that theres mobile wallet, crowdfunding protocol etc etc and even then vot may not succeed and the funds left for marketing might be dry but hey im excited and will hodl for atleast a few years. Its the community that builds up the crypto, if enough of us contact youtubers (when the wallet is updated for shileded addys and the proper sapling update) and contact bloggers and crypto news sites, if those people can see vot is being used in terms of www.betvot.com and poll explorer they will be keen to talk about it. 

But theres still so much to do before Votecoin can be pitched to the bigger youtubers etc and most of that has to do with community use, if we can market vot amongst ourselves and bring in some noobs to partake in getting the volume up not only on tradesatoshi but the other exchanges vot is on like digitalprice and cratex. The wallet and the tech and the proposition is sound, i agree not marketing can seem like shooting yourself in the foot, but getting the wrong people to market it or marketing a product thats not 100% can also shoot you in the foot, but i agree it shouldnt be for a lack of trying.

When you download the new version and copy files from new wallet into old wallet like it says, opening the wallet downloaded the proving keys again it took a while longer than the first time. But it came right as soon as it finished getting the keys... I could try upload the proving keys files i have in my wallet and you can try it if you like, please join the Votecoin discord and post your issue in the #help section.

Ive updated windows wallets on two machines and both went fine. Note wallet will download proving keys again presumably due to sapling privacy reinforcements.

Unlike other Zec based coins votecoins poll/bet functions made it too resource hungry to be a mobile wallet but sapling update will make it a light weight protocol  so votecoin could at the least come to android if no appstore. Also sapling upgrade should mean actual shielded wallet and private coins so anonymous betting and polling etc!

Please note private coins/shielded addresses arent live yet, the only implementation so far is for making polls and bets, the recent update fixes the making polls issue, which had to do with how you pay to make polls using shielded txs... private coins (actual shielded addresses you can back up) will come in a later update when anonymous polls update arrives... but thats down the line in the roadmap after poll reviews, poll explorer redesign and auto refunds for losing bets or opinion polls.

Here are some guides on how to update to the new Wallet after overwinter update.

If you are updating from GUI walet
1. (optional step) Open old wallet, will automatically open in safe mode and wait to sync.
2. Make a backup of old wallet esp wallet.dat (votecoin folder/resources/app/votecoin)
3. Download new wallet (Dont start wallet) https://github.com/Tomas-M/VoteCoin-wallet/releases/ and copy all the files from new wallet into the old wallet and overwrite all files (170 files)
4. Wallet.dat file should still be in there unaffected
5. Open votecoin.exe after files were overwritten
6. Wait to sync.

If you are updating from original old WINDOWS text wallet.

 1. Downloaded newest wallet.

2. Put wallet.dat from old wallet into new wallet (resources/app/votecoin) and votecoinid file from old into new (resources/app)
3. Start new wallet. wait for it to sync to block chain to show transactions. It will still give safe mode error.
4. Then Export private keys from back up section on new wallet.
5. Now you dowload a new wallet again,  export to a new folder, open and wait for fresh wallet to sync.
6. Import your keys from back up section.

This is the long winded way but works, make sure you back up those walelet.dat and votecoinid files somewhere else too


If you are updating from original LINUX text wallet, open the old wallet, ignore the safe mode error.

1. Type command
$ vot export
to get your private keys
2. Download latest wallet from @everyone overwinter update has been completed, get new wallet below... I will make a quick video on how to tansfer coins if needed https://github.com/Tomas-M/VoteCoin-wallet/releases/
3. Open new wallet and wait to sync
4. Go to Back up tab in new wallet import your keys
5. Wait for resync (wont take long)
