61  Economy / Speculation / Re: The problems that needs to be solved in order to get new bitcoin adopters on: April 30, 2014, 08:17:49 PM
I think you make a good point about how joe blow doesn't want to put a large some of money for him into something where he will only get a piece.  People don't want to feel like they own a fraction of something.  I think the move to mbtc would help this a lot.

Reallly contemplating buying back in now.  I will have gained about .5 BTC.  Can anyone more knowledgeable than I explain the news better than google translate?

"Bitcoin not banned in China. Old news. You sheep can find the next subject to panic over". Something like that.

Lol sounds about right  Tongue  Thanks.

I went full fiat a little while ago (days) I don't remember specifically when.  I will definitely get back in it's just a matter of when.

I am sadly guessing we are going to go lower than 400 if any other negative news comes out from china which I think it will.  I kind of want to sell now and buy back more coins lower but seeing my past luck It would be smartest for me to HODL.

OP, If you want information for your videos you can visit my site in my sig.  It's a simple Bitcoin guide that may be of use.

Add another vote for the ponzi scheme.  Not necessarily a misconception but how about an episode where it is clarified where Bitcoins come from.  More specifically, how the block solved reward system works.  "Who put the Bitcoins in the block" is a common question.  Something that answers that in an easy way would be beneficial IMO.
69  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Let's change to milli bitcoin already! on: March 13, 2014, 04:09:44 AM
People don't want to feel like they own a fraction of something.  I'm all for the move to Milli even if I'm not 100% fond of the name.

"Milli" implies it is a fraction (1/1000th).  So moving to milli's doesn't totally solve that psychological problem.  That's why I think counting up from satoshis is better.

I do like your idea a lot.

Is there anywhere I can see an example of a Wallet being restored from the paper backup?

Here is demo that I did for a user:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WTwbc3fJsEg

At minute 29 we get into restoring from a backup.

There is quite a bit of content on this video although it's just an unedited google hangout so the quality is not so great.

I am concerned about usb key security (I am ultra paranoid).

Currently the safest method for transferring unsigned&signed transactions is to type it by hand into the computers, right? Now I am asking myself if I can loose my Bitcoins when I have a typo in my transaction plaintext (which is very likely) or does Armory check the file integrity and I just need to check the transaction details Armory brings up to me.

Or should I better wait for your audio transfer feature? (So awesome!)

The audio transfer feature is 1 or 2 releases away, so you might have to wait a little while.

A USB key is reasonably safe if you only use it for only this purpose on only one online computer.

If you go with manual entry that is the safest although most inconvenient. You do not have to worry about losing your bitcoins. You will have a chance to verify and double check the receiving addresses and amounts before you broadcast your transaction. If you took the time to type it all out, you can take the time to double check the receiving addresses and amounts.

Thank You very much.  I will also try it myself as Armory has just finished installing Smiley

77  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin Units Proposal on: March 03, 2014, 03:47:57 AM
I think this is a great idea but not necessarily using, "Milibit" or other, "Techie" sounding names.  I think there is a chance the general population could be turned off by names sounding like that.  If we had a different name for 1/10 or 1/100 or whatever was decided that did not sound like it was a denomination of a coin and rather just its own unit I think it would be helpful.  If for example 1/100 of a coin was the norm then we could refer to as a, Tango, then it would sound nicer and more inviting than a Milibit.

Sorry if this is a bit difficult to understand but I think this would play a role in wider acceptance of Bitcoin.  Although denomination labeling seems like a trivial issue I really believe it will play a big role in peoples first impressions of Bitcoins.  I think staying with names like, "Mili" will make people associate it with the techie world and still be a bit intimidated.
78  Economy / Speculation / Re: A cracker owning 850,000btc. How bad is that? on: March 01, 2014, 12:28:09 AM
The most concerning thing to me is whether the coins are held by one person or many.  Also, WHEN they were stolen.  If someone with a malicious intent wants to dump them all then we know what is going to happen.  I wish MagicalTux would release some more info.

Mt. Gox has allegedly never conducted a single audit of its customer deposits, and it is believed that Karpeles may have been the only one within the company to have knowledge of how to actually tap the exchange’s cold storage. It remains unclear exactly how this type of storage leak could have happened over a multi-year period without any knowledge on the part of the executives at Mt. Gox.

wow
