61  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Litecoin's comeback on: September 03, 2023, 03:17:25 PM
Litecoin is doing well.  Death of litecoin is exagerated.   Litecoin is silver to bitcoin's gold.  This is powerful user case.

After bitcoin and ethereum,  litecoin is very likely to be 3rd possible choice to be adopted by U.S. institution investors with spot ETF in USA.
62  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Promising altcoins? on: September 03, 2023, 02:52:24 PM
Consider memecoins:

Dogecoin:  king of meme coins
Cheetahcoin:  a cat meme coin on bitcoin's sha256

memecoins are dangerous,  do not bet your house on them.  A small portion for fun and speculation should be the rule.  And in my belief, the vast majority of crypto investment should be on bitcoin (or eth for many others).
63  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Memecoins Vs legit Altcoins in 2023 on: September 03, 2023, 05:50:39 AM
Memecoins are fun,  a bit casual joke, a bit of gambling.

Here is fact,  Macau and Las Vegas exist for a reason, same  as memecoin, a bit gambling, then fun of entertainment.

I think memecoin are fine. but do not bet your house on them, just treat them as casual fun entertainment, like many goes to Vegas or Macau in different virtual world.

cool 2 nodes now.  I had nice conversation at new discord, looking forward on this coin to be revived:

I've done this many times before, this was my first coin (community takeover) back in 2014 and I want to make sure it's taken care of

Great to hear that some one is willing to take over an almost dead coin.  By the way, you can take look at open souced code of nengcoin or Cheetahcoin, which is bitcoin v0.13.3 version based.  If you can update wallet to 0.13 or higher, a lot of benefit opens up.  One obvious benefit is atomicdex (from Komodo team) trading.   There is no listing fee involved,  free DEX listing, I highly recommend this atomic swap based DEX.  but of course lot of dev work is needed on core wallet upgrade.
65  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [MEMECOINS] Looking for the Next Great 1000x on: August 30, 2023, 01:38:33 AM
Cheetahcoin - a cat meme coin on bitcoin's sha256.   It is not typical sha256, but solo mining friendly taylor to home or hobby miners on USB ASIC devices with ASIC restriction against bigger hash rate, all with special difficulty algorithm called randomSpike.

Dogecoin is on scrypt,  Cheetahcoin is on sha256.  These two are all you need for a great pair of meme coins.

The new node can not connect. Still no node.

Is this chain to be revived?  020 chain has no node for a while.

One running node:
Code:
addnode=209.145.50.223

Last block was about 2 years ago.  A lot of work is needed to update the wallet into new bitcoin versions.
67  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Whats Your Favourite Meme Coins? on: August 27, 2023, 11:55:09 PM
Dogecoin - King of meme
Cheetahcoin - Dogecoin on bitcoin's sha256

SHIBA and also vast majority of other meme coins are not coins, they are mostly a token on BEP20 chain, or on ERC-20 chain, etc.

I am biased against tokens, and in favor of real coins like DOGE.  Check out Cheetahcoin (CHTA).  This is new meme coin like DOGE, on sha256 with special difficulty algorithm tailored to small home solo miners on USB devices like Gekko Newpac. CHTA market cap is well below $1 million USD, and really at early stage.
68  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Exploring the Future of Finance with Wrapped Assets in DeFi on: August 22, 2023, 03:44:20 AM
wrapped coins are not decentralized.  It is not very safe.

Consider true decentralized alternative,  Thorchain or AtomicDEX are true DEX that you can trade many UTXO coins such as BTC, LTC DOGE DASH etc natively with ETH or BNB.
69  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Are these BTC-Swaps legit ? on: August 13, 2023, 02:37:40 AM
AtomicDEX is true DEX, trades are on chain with atomic swap on native coins.  it provides a light wallet (komodo wallet is electrum server light wallet tech based). It mainly support UTXO coins, but add BNB and ETH recently.   Pros:  coins supported are large, almost all the coins are supported including many bitcoin clones, trading fees are low as KMD and many altcoin transactions fees are low. Cons: liquidity and trading volume is low.    This DEX is mainly for small retail traders.

Thorchain:   another true DEX that support bitcoin litecoin doge ETH and stable coins,  on chain native coin trading, not wrapped coins.  Pro:  native UTXO coins trading including BTC.  this DEX has liquidity and large trading volume.  This should works well for large volume trading.  Con:  on chain tradings,  fees could be large if the trading is on small volume.  Many altcoin small volume retail trading might be better off with AtomicDEX instead.
70  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Atomic DEX discussion on: August 13, 2023, 01:09:34 AM
The BitcoinZ-DEX wallet you found is too old, probably no longer supported anymore. The most actively supported version is community version here from developer cipig:
https://github.com/btcz/atomicDEX-Desktop/releases

This btcz-DEX version of atomicDEX actually was the first wallet release version that supported Nengcoin and Cheetahcoin for our communities.  The different wallet types do not necessary support all the coins at same time as their release schedule seemed to be independent.  However, they are all on same AtomicDEX  market and uses the same open sourced code from the original Komodo team's github repos.
71  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Komodo Wallet / Atomic DEX discussion on: August 12, 2023, 03:40:59 PM
The way I see the branding change is that, the wallet is "Komodo", created by Komodo team.   This is main wallet, it has mobile phone release too.

There are other affliated (or cloned) desktop wallet too,
bitcoinZ-DEX wallet, FiroDEX wallet.   There used to be "DogeDEX" wallet and "ShibaDEX" wallet.   DogeDEX is not supported.  ShibaDEX seems to be not supported any more.  The name is a bit confusing on wallet.

What is clear about all above phone or desktop light wallets brands are:  they all trade in the same DEX:  AtomicDEX.   So I think the name for defi DEX should stay:  AtomicDEX,    like uniswap, or Thorchain.    However, there are many wallet choices,  you can pick Komodo (official wallet or dominant wallet),  you can pick other less known named wallets too,  different wallets, same DEX.

FiroDEX Wallet Support Cheetahcoin (CHTA)

FiroDEX Desktop Wallet v0.5.7 release in March 2023 by Firo team support Nengcoin (NENG) and Cheetahcoin (CHTA) with atomicDEX trading capabilities.

Firo, formerly Zcoin is reputable privacy focused cryptocurrency with $21 million USD market cap and $2 million dollar USD daily trading volume in many exchanges including Binance and CoinEx.  We congratulate Firo team for FiroDEX wallet new release that  give our users more choices of self-custody wallet with DEX trading capabilities.

AtomicDEX official wallet is Komodo wallet made by Komodo team who are the main developers for the wallet and DEX. There are increasingly more affiliated partner wallets such as FiroDEX, BitcoinZ-DEX wallet that support Nengcoin and Cheatahcoin adding more liquidity of both coins trading worldwide in self-custody wallet. In all these wallets, mobile or desktop, you own your own private keys with dex trading capabilities.  This is dramatically different and healthier crypto experience compared to centralized exchange (CEX) wallet and CEX trading.

About AtomicDEX and FiroDEX release notes:
FiroDex is a decentralized cross-chain exchange built in official partnership with AtomicDEX, which provides a platform for cross-chain swaps and interoperability. With FiroDex, users can trade a wide range of cryptocurrencies and tokens, including those on Ethereum, Binance Smart Chain, Avalanche, Matic, HECO, Qtum, and any UTXO-based coin, all through atomic swaps. This allows for seamless, trustless, and secure trading across different blockchains, without the need for intermediaries or centralized exchanges. We have seen many of our community members use FiroDEX as a bridge between native FIRO and BEP20 FIRO!

74  Economy / Exchanges / Re: DEX with orderbook on: July 29, 2023, 03:40:55 PM
AtomicDEX from Komodo uses atomic swap technology and this dex has order book inside the komodo wallet.  AtomicDEX mainly support UTXO coins like BTC LTC DOGE etc,  but it support BNB  ETH recently.  The issue of this dex is that liquidity is small so that it works well for small traders only, may not work for large traders that requires huge liquidity.

75  Economy / Exchanges / Re: What should you look for in a DEX? on: July 29, 2023, 03:09:20 PM
I want to look into dexes and I was wondering what is it that you would personally look for in a dex to see if it is good?
Remember this... most exchanges that have DEX label are not really decentralized, and most of them are based on centralized shitcoin blockchains.

We don't have many real DEX options but Bisq exchange should be mentioned first, you need to download open source software and run it in your computer.
BlockDX is also decentrlaized but last time I checked it didn't have much trading volume, and I don't think it gain any popularity so far.
Few other P2P alternatives can work as alternative if you are using mobile devices, like Peach Bitcoin, RoboSats or AtomicDEX wallet.

I have used all three: Bisq,  BlockDX,  AtomicDEX.

Liquidity, user friendliness and easy to use is important.   trading fees are important too.

Out of three, currently only working one is AtomicDEX.  AtomicDEX for small DEX traders are fine, the fees are small,  spread is wider than CEX, but definately a niche and very good to use to own your own private keys for most of UTXO coins and also BNB and ETH cross chain trading.

Bisq never worked for me, the deal breaker was high fees and poor liquidity even on DOGE/BTC pair.  Bisq seems to be huge on Monero pair so that it is mainly a private coin dex there.

BlockDX has been dissappointing so far.  It appeared to be great with bitcoin coin clone technology core  plus masternode POS design.  Somehow the light wallet Xlite was never materialized after many years.  BlockDX would be great competitor to AtomicDEX if it delivered what it promised years ago.  For me BlockDX high level DEX design seems to be very decentralized if their service nodes count goes up to big number.
76  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Solo Mining to my own node on: July 16, 2023, 07:47:04 PM
Just a suggestion: you mention you're learning, why not mine on the testnet instead? The diff is still pretty high for a TEST network, but with an S9 you should be able to mine a couple of blocks once in a while (with allmost 0 block reward nowadays), but atleast you'll be able to see everything in action Smiley

If the testnet cannot entice you, there are a couple altcoins that are clones from bitcoin and use sha256d as POW algo with a much lower diff than bitcoin's main net... The income will be peanuts aswell tough.

https://coinmarketcap.com/view/sha-256/

I used to mine peercoin with a usb block eruptor back in the days, when the bitcoin networks diff was waaaay to high to use an usb miner, but on peercoin it was still low enough... Don't know if this is still valid tough!

For just learning purposes, yes,  testnet makes more sense then zero profit on bitcoin mainnet.

If OP is really interested in learning, there are alternative sha256 coins,  for example,  Cheetahcoin is solo mining friendly coin that  S9 or even gekko or TTBIT usb device can easily mine, and even encouraged by the algorithm on solo mining set up.
77  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Atomic DEX discussion on: July 15, 2023, 09:04:06 PM
Atomicdex by Komodo team is one of best, if not the best true decentralized DEX for UTXO coins, I have used it a lot and really like it. It has mobile wallet too on android and iOS.

AtomicDEX wallet also support bitcoin and many many altcoins and bitcoin.  It is nice wallet to own your own private keys for many crypto users.

Anybody knows? Is it the "standard" SPV model where the client queries address balances and transactions from a server (e.g. using Bloom filters or the Electrum protocol), or is it some more modern stuff like BIP-157?
There is nothing modern with AtomicDEX wallet  Smiley
I think they used old legacy address format for Bitcoin (starting with 1) until recently, but if I remember correctly that was some some limitation of atomic swaps for bitcoin.... now AtomicDEX added segwit support.
One good thing about this wallet/exchange is the fact they are updating it on semi-regular basis (last update was two weeks ago), so maybe you could ask them on github or on their social media, discord, telegram, etc.

For bitcoin,  Komodo team announced support for lightening network support.  I checked recently I do not believe lightening is in the official release yet. If lightening support becomes official in its wallet, this wallet and DEX will be awesome too for bitcoin and retail crypto traders.

NENG price has been quite strong relatively in recent months in either southxchange (main exchange) or Atomicdex trading .  This coin is doing well so far.

CGminer v4.12 Upgrade for Gekko Newpac and TTBIT USB Devices

06/25/2023

New Recommendation for Cheetahcoin USB device miners on  GekkoScience  NewPac and TTBIT Bitcoin SHA256:  upgrade your cgminer version to v4.12.1 with solo miner set up on locally-run bare metal Cheetahcoin full node in order to maximize your profitability of CHTA mining.

cgminer github:   https://github.com/ShorelineCrypto/cgminer

Background of Mining Profitability

Historically, the most profitable way to mine Cheetahcoin on USB devices such as Gekko NewPac, Gekko 2pac, or Gekko  Compac F,  TTBIT Bitcoin SHA256 is through local solo mining setup.  The next profitable method is solo mining at pool, the least profitable way of mining is through shared pool mining at Cheetahcoin mining pools.

The reason for this dramatic difference on profitability between solo mining verses pool mining is because Cheetahcoin is not a typical SHA256 bitcoin clone, it incorporates difficulty adjustment algorithm called "randomSpike"  from Nengcoin (NENG)  that in favors of solo mining over pool mining.  Because of heavy penalty against big hashrate rigs during low difficulty fast moving reset period, solo miners on small hashrate USB devices are heavily rewarded during reset. In NENG case, randomSpike difficulty algorithm also allows a small portions of blocks to be mined by android cell phones.    Android phone mining  is no longer feasible on current version of Cheetahcoin and these portion of block rewards (difficulty = 1) goes to solo mining USB devices  too.

CGminer v4.11 Stopped Working in Late May

Starting from late May about one month ago,  many USB devices stopped getting any block rewards in solo mining setup.   Community member Darkforces1  (discord ID: Darkforces1) first discovered this issue in that his/her cgminer v4.12 compacF USB device based local solo miners were performing fine while cgminer 4.11 based gekko NewPac local solo miner got this errors: (bad-cb-height)

The full node wallet would also generate this error "Warning: Unknown block versions being mined. It's possible unknown rulels are in effect".

The root cause of this can be explained by ASICboost, a kind of enhanced mining algorithm for some non-standard ASIC rigs.  ASICboost mined blocks are backward compatible with current version of full node wallet so that warning has no impact on the blockchain consensus forming.

Those flags and errors are actually like mining war. ASIC boost came, cause some old USB devices with cgminer errors.   The end effects essentially are like Bitcoin softforks, backward compatible, may cause old miner software with errors. Essentially  ASICboost soft fork style mining made all the older version v4.11 cgminer of gekko newpac and TTBIT USB  invalid with errors.

The solution is to upgrade  to cgminer 4.12 for all the impacted USB devices.  Gekko Compac F is on 4.12 always, not impacted by this aggressive ASICboost style soft fork.

CGminer v4.12 fixed the Gekko NewPac Solo Mining Errors

On 6/15/2023, Community member Darkforces1  reported to be able to fix the gekko newpac mining errors by using v4.12 version in windows local wallet solo mining setup.

In Linux solo mining setup, the original github source code of v4.12 code base disallow the non-bitcoin address.  This patched version cgminer v4.12 enabled   Cheetahcoin address and  also support TTBIT USB sha256 device for solo mining in linux.

How to Run Gekko NewPac TTBIT Solo Mining in Linux

Install the dependencies in Linux as usual as in readme. Then compile the source code as in github readme for gekko device.

Run a full node of Cheetahcoin,  configure a "cheetahcoin.conf" file like the example :
https://github.com/ShorelineCrypto/cheetahcoin/blob/master/doc/Chromebook/x64/cheetahcoin.conf
and put into proper ~/.cheetahcoin folder, then start either CLI or GUI full node, sync node to latest block.
In the same linux computer, make sure you obtain the exact correct USB bus ID by running this command:
Code:
lsusb
----find below line ----
Bus 004 Device 002: ID 0403:6015 Future Technology Devices International, Ltd Bridge(I2C/SPI/UART/FIFO)

Then run below command for your local solo mining, note that rpcport number can be changed to whatever, as long as it has no conflicts:
Code:
./cgminer --usb 4:2   -o http://192.168.86.10:8536  -u  yourrpcuser  -p yourrpcpassword  --btc-address YourCheetahcoinAddress  --gekko-newpac-detect --gekko-newpac-freq 400

TTBIT: run another 2nd new Cheetahcoin full node wallet in same server, use different rpcport 8548,

For TTBIT sha256 bitcoin miner, the configuration is slightly different because TTBIT can not support the default ASICboost behavior.  TTBIT USB device is also less stable device so that we disable hotplug feature and also cut half of the frequency as below:
Code:
./cgminer --usb :1  -o http://192.168.86.10:8548 -u  yourrpcuser  -p yourrpcpassword    --btc-address YourCheetahcoinAddress --hotplug 0 --gekko-noboost --gekko-2pac-freq 50

TTBIT USB bitcoin miner is not that profitable solo mining Cheetahcoin, but should get coins almost every day here and there, probably can break even on cheap electricity price or CHTA price goes up  from here.
